I was driving with my sister on rt 9 in lakewood nj in stop and go traffic. we heard a loud pop that sounded like a gun shot or something that hit my roof. i drove a few blocks to try and find a spot to take a look, when i opened my inside sunroof shade i saw that my sunroof was shattered. i called the lakewood police and they took a report. i will be getting it fixed today, i have to pay $100.00 deductible. i'm just glad we were not hurt. i went on line and saw that quite a few car's of other makes and models have had this same problem. that is how i found your website. 2006 chevrolet hhr. consumer writes in regards to ignition switch recall and power steering and other vehicle problems. *smd the consumer stated two days after getting the vehicle back from the dealer, the vehicle had to be flat-bedded back to the dealer, because it wouldn't start. it was determined the ignition switch needed to be replaced. also, the right passenger outside mirror fell off, the right passenger wiper arm broke, the rotors were replaced twice in two years, and the rear shocks were replaced.*jb

Fuel leak in front of drivers side rear wheel. this is completely unacceptable in an 8 year old vehicle. the fuel line corroded and leaked heavily, cost me $254.22 to replace this faulty gas line. i am obviously not the only person this has happened to. i have also had all the other typical problems such as the key will not release from ignition, bad rotors, loose front end bushings and excessive front end vibration over typical street cracks. broken drivers side interior door handle, cracked windshield...... *tr updated 10/22/2014 *js

January 14, 2013 the vehicle was taken to ourisman chevrolet of bowie for blower not working for heat or defrost. i was told their was a short in the blower resister. it was replaced and i paid $225.34 then, on september 2, 2014 same problem occurred. took back to same dealership and was told same problem. however, it was after 1 year warranty so i had to pay $181.68 to fix. on december 10, 2014, had to bring car in again for same problem. this time it was covered under warranty. i was told there was an additional part that was needed to be fixed and it would cost $454.43. ourisman told me if i did not get this part the blower motor would eventually go again and stop working. i don't understand how you can fix a part three times and not have the knowledge to replace the "motor" that makes it work. i also asked if these parts have been recalled. they said no. on that same day, i called gm to see if they could assist in having both parts repaired at no cost. they refused. so ourisman fixed the resistor. on february 3, 2015 (very cold) the system would only work on low speed. on february 13, 2015 no fan for heat or defrost. on february 16, 2015 i called gm to explain my situation. they stated since the car is a 2006 there is nothing they can do and its up to the discretion of dealership. i have not contacted the dealership yet because i do not have the money to pay and my hope is nhtsa will assist me with this ongoing problem and provide insight about the parts in question. *tr

2006 chevrolet hhr. consumer states several problems with vehicle *tgw the consumer stated his sons vehicle had a severe shimmy in the steering wheel and became progressively worse when the brake was applied. the pads and rotors were replaced twice and the third time the rotors were machined, but the problem continued. there was also a strange noise coming from the front suspension, but the dealer was unable to pinpoint the problem. at 42,000 miles the air condition made a loud screeching noise for 2 minutes, then stopped working. at 68,000 miles, a metal skid plate had fallen from underneath the vehicle. soon after, the exhaust was very loud. the vehicle was taken to the repair shop and the consumer was informed the catalytic converter had cracked. the vehicle lost power and a cylinder had to be replaced, the check engine light would come on and then go off, the temperature gauge did not work, so the air condition only worked if the check engine light was off. the door locks did not work, the radio worked intermittently, the sun visor would fall down at random times. there were times when the vehicle would not start. the consumer stated even with an alignment, new struts, shocks and good tires, the vehicle continually pulled to the right. *jb

Auto dimmer does not work on rearview mirror. unable to remove key from chevy hhr 2006 model. it is a shift lever issue. the car is out of warranty so neither of these items are still covered. these are items that should last longer than three years. chevy is ignoring the issue. *tr

Put vehicle in park, key would not come out of ignition after turning vehicle off. still would re-start so found a dealer and dropped off vehicle. per dealer sheet at pick-up - 19373 shifter rod fell off verified ignition key doesn't come out of ignition cylinder. noticed shifter button stuck in/depressed. remove power window switch panel, shifter cover panel. disconnect shifter cable, remove shifter, found shifter rod fell off. shifter b/o. ****** r&r shifter, install shifter cable, shifter cover panel, power window switch panel, road test vehicle, check shifter operation, shifter working normally. turn vehicle off, easily able to remove key out of ignition. *tr

My brakes shimmied/ vibrated badly when my hhr had 14300 miles, ferris chevrolet dealership turned, ground, the rotors to repair the problem on 07/30/07 at the same time the heater/ac fan switch was repaired on 9/28/08 with 28365 miles on my hhr the same problem was repaired at the dealership, the brakes should not shimmy and need repairing every 14000 miles, this need to be corrected with new improved rotors before their is a total brake failure we plan on keeping this car for a long time, who is going to pay to fix this!at the same time the heater/ac fan switch was repaired and the fan motor was replaced, we were told water leaks on the fan, we have had water leak thru the heater vents before. *tr

The car has had the a/c fan motor replaced at least 4 times, each time it was damaged by a water leak. the dealership replaced motor once while under warranty but stated they could not find/fix the leak. this was a lie because it is a common problem with the butyl patch, easily found in the most basic internet search. the door handles are made of the cheapest plastic, driver's side interior door handle broke off. there is water leaking into the rear driver's side floorboard with no cause yet found. the worst part of this is the chevrolet dealership where i purchased the vehicle not completely fixing the leak problem during the warranty period, then charging me to fix it again after the warranty had expired. now i can't even get them to return my phone calls regarding the recall repairs they are required to do. *tr

Dt: the contact stated the vehicle has too many blind spots on all sides of the vehicle. also for seeing out the front window is difficult to see out of due to the windshield being lower and the seat higher than on other vehicles. due to this visibility issue the contact feels unsafe driving the vehicle.
