While driving vehicle doors are locking and unlocking themselves, radio and heat turns off and on, blinkers not working, headlights flash on and off by themselves, airbag, stability control and abs flash on and off on dash. rpm and speedometer are at zero while driving and accelerating, gas hand shows on low fuel when there's gas on the car. took to have vehicle scanned and alternator is reading at too high voltage and revived 15 error codes all relating to speed sensor, engine and transmission control model malfunction, power train control module and camshaft position circuit errors etc.
Car is burning oil at abnormally fast rate. i have been driving with quart of oil in my car at all times since finding out about existing problem with earlier model year vehicles and noticing the pattern in my vehicle. check engine light and reduced engine power notification came on while driving on highway. the stability track notification came on as well. i am now being told by local mechanic that i may need a new engine. i was informed by local dealership that timing shaft and actuator may need to be replaced just to get the car to start. the underlying problem is the same as the existing problem in class action lawsuit for 2010-2013 models. chevrolet has built an engine that doesn't work and they need to pay for this. how many complaints does there need to be before something is done.
Turned car on (in driveway) and service esc light came on. traction control, stability control, and driver front and lane assist all disengaged. unable to manually turn back on through steering controls. stopped the vehicle, parked in a parking lot, and turned on and off multiple times and the service esc light was still on. drove to destination with the service esc light still on, turned off vehicle, waited a few minutes, turned it back on and the service esc light was off. contacted local chevy dealer's service department. was told to drive around for a couple more days and see if the issue returns. if it does return after a few days, recommended to schedule service.
While driving, the tires felt like they were being locked up to keep from fishtailing even though roads were clear and dry with normal acceleration. after driving, parked vehicle and sat in it for an hour. afterwards, turned vehicle on and the screen stated to service esc. stabilitrak, lane assist, and parking assist light came on. after a couple hours with the vehicle off and drove a block, the warning lights turned off and became normal. then after an hour of the vehicle sitting and turned off for an hour, we began driving on the highway, after an hour of driving, the screen stated to service esc again. stabilitrak, lane assist, and parking assist light came on again.
Equinox has 4636 miles and all three times it has been driven in snow a service esc message comes on dash and traction control and stability control are turned off along with awd. one time was highway driving, and other two times on a local street. also while driving down the highway the dash message said reduced engine power (stayed on for 400 miles/two days) may reduce speeds to 50 mph. rpm's stared running 1000 higher to maintain speed and fuel economy dropped about 8 mpg. gm mechanic didn't have time to diagnose but said the turbo was frozen because of temperatures (-10 degrees) and that it needed a winter front and new intake tube. mechanic said he has seen this problem over 10 times with the same engine that day.
I bought my used 2010 chevy equinox from the dealer, and 2 weeks later the service stabilitrak light came on. took it to the dealer, they did an alignment and the same day the light came back on with traction control light. the next day i went to the grocery store, and when i tried to start it to leave it wouldn't start. after 2 tries, it finally started but then the reduced engine power light came on and wouldn't go above 25 mph. eventually the vehicle powered down and i had to pull over for a tow truck to come. the chevy dealer said it was the main timing chain (not covered) and something else in the engine but i would have to pay for labor to disassemble it. my car has been out of service and sitting at the dealer for now 10 days. luckily i wasn't on the highway when this happened, and decided to go to the store before heading to work. carfax reports indicate the timing chain and fuel pump was replaced at 40,000 miles already. i see a lot of people with this problem in much scarier situations. i believe this should be a ...
Vehicle was in motion approximately 45 mph when check engine light came on, message then appeared that engine power is reduced and speed immediately dropped to around 15 mph and then to a rough idle at approx 5-10mph. was almost rear ended by vehicle traveling behind me. i was able to limp remaining 2 miles home and contacted dealer. appointment was made and dealer reported code p2135 and replaced throttle body..dealer said throttle didn't know up from down. dealer stated this is a common problem with the equinox. i have read many complaints online about this same issue with other owners reporting being put in a dangerous position with the sudden drop in speed like we were. i contacted chevy gm and they said there were no recalls. if rapid acceleration has been treated by other companies as recall worthy, i dont understand why chevy does not consider this recall worthy. i have attached the repair report with this complaint.
Engine is burning oil at an alarming rate. every 1,000 miles there will be no oil on the dip stick. no warning light has came on stating my oil is low. i could have blown my engine multiple times if i didn't check my oil regularly. this is not safe. i bought this car from a dealership 5 months ago and have already had to get 3 oil changes bc of the excessive amount of oil loss plus have had to add oil in between.
Vehicle was parked, started fine backed up out of space. when pulling forward the warning busser came on and display read stabil track. pulled to side of road and turned off engine after 2min. i restarted engine, the warning stayed on. drove about 3 miles to dealership, was told to drive it as appt not availble till tues. engine slowed down could only get to 35mph. after another 5miles it started working so we were able to get home. i have done all required mateniace have 69,000 miles on it, now. if this is a major problem when i reach this milage, what is my recourse?
Had my equinox for couple years without any problems. just recently abs light came on along with traction control. suv slides to the side when applying breaks. a month before this started engine light kept turning on and off. didn't stay long enough to see whats wrong. gas gauge does not show correct amount of fuel 1 out of 5 days.
