Bought a used 2015 chevy cruze ltz, carfax checked out except for when the vehicle was a year old it failed emissions testing 5/2019 (no detailed information of the work done, assuming work done) but it shows as passing ever since until december 2019. check engine light came on 12/20\19 coming to a stop or right as car was parked, code p0420 on 12/24/19 failed emissions, catalytic converter replaced 12/26/19, car picked up 12/28/19 check engine light on again same day after filling up with gas, starting car but was stationary, car returned to dealer dtc of p0420 again, 12/31 universal flex, clamp/weld done. car picked up 1/2/2020, check engine light came on coming to a stop at a red light.car returned to dealer 1/20/2020. told possibly faulty aftermarket catalytic converters used, ordering catalytic converter from gm. waiting for that to take place.
Purchased vehicle used 8/2017. 5/2018 car smoking and overheating while driving. water pump replaced. still having issues with car overheating while driving, i was replacing coolant about once a month. twice the thermostat housing was replaced, 8/2018 and 11/2018. car had issues again overheating while driving in 4/2019. an intercooler pipe, pvc pipe, water pipe, and water hose were replaced. my check engine light came on again in 9/2019, many issues were found but i only had enough money to repair the catalytic converters. at this point i was replacing coolant every two weeks to avoid the engine overheating and at times it was a visible puddle coming from under the car. 11/20/2019 i returned to get a sensor and another thermostat housing replaced. 11/27/2019 i had the car towed to the shop after my vehicle began smoking while driving. i pulled over and coolant was quickly dripping out from under the car. the radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced. when the car was returned to me i noticed that the engine was noisy and there was a screechy sound upon acceleration. i had trouble picking up speed. i got to the gas station about a mile away and turned off the car to get gas. when i turn the vehicle back on the engine began to shake, rev up and down on its own, and then cut off. i tried a few times to start the car up and it happened every time. i immediately called the repair shop and had the car towed back the same night. they were able to look at it on 11/29/2019 and reported that they saw no issues. in disbelief, i picked up the car, and i drove around for almost a week. i ended up coming back to ride along while a technician test drove the car. he saw and heard the same issues that i clearly had with the vehicle. we returned back to the shop and he did a diagnostic test that showed there was an issue with the turbocharger.
I noticed one day while driving that my engine was running very hot. when i arrived to my destination, i popped the hood and discovered extremely low coolant level. also noticed fluid leaking from under my car. i took it to a local shop to be evaluated. it was determined that i needed to replace my water pump & thermostat. i am only at 41,000 miles.
Throttle position sensor. check engine light came on car started blogging down dropping rpms while driving, as i came to a complete stop the car would drop rpms and then go above then normal idle rpms but seemed to want to go while my foot was on the break. . when the car is off the code is reading the throttle position at 16.5% when it should be at zero! when the car is on the throttle position reads at 40% not 100%. it is a huge concern considering the throttle can get stuck at any point and their goes my life as well as my 2 year olds life.
Turbo had to be replaced at approximately 50k miles. the malfunction nearly caused a serious accident on the freeway, and was not drivable until fixed. now, at 73k miles, the vehicle slowed down after stuttering on the freeway while my 18 year old daughter was driving it home last night. check engine light is on, and it is not driveable again. this is how it acted the first time the turbo went out. recently i have worried about turning left when cars are even somewhat close, as it loses power.
When starting the car, a previously used 2015 chevy cruze lt, the check engine light came on and the messages 'service traction control' and 'service stabilitrak' appeared. when driving, there was a noticeable reduction in acceleration power.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle sputtered and was difficult to crank. also, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond and did not move. furthermore, the check engine warning indicator was illuminated. the contact called turan foley chevrolet buick (1123-b us 49, gulfport, ms 39503, (228) 206-0289), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 69,000. the vin was invalid.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle began to run hot and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the water outlet was breaking apart and causing the vehicle to run hot. the vehicle was taken to best chevrolet (2600 veterans memorial blvd, kenner, la 70062, (504) 315-7790) where the defect was officially diagnosed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. the chevrolet manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
Purchased new. repeated failures of coolant reservoir, replace turbocharger 2x, replaced water pump, tank replacement, intake manifold, valve cover and pcv pipe, and now another failure, head gasket failure.
The catalytic converter needs replaced but unable to be replaced due to vehicle parts are not available
Vehicle was driving down highway at 45 miles per hour when i received a chime alarm telling me my car was overheated. no warning before this of low coolant. diagnosed as a failed water pump. did a google search and come to find out several complaints on this happening to this year and make of vehicle. my car has 57,000 miles on it and many complaints have been sent out by others of this issue. i think its time to take action as this is obviously a big problem with this vehicle. i was proud to buy a chevy cruze and feel ashamed of myself fpr not looking up issues before i bought it.vehicle went i to limp mode without prior notice and could have cause a major accident.
I had stopped at the store. when i came out and started my car. it instantly made a loud whistling noise. i opened the hood nothing obvious. when left i pulled out on the main highway and it stalled. problem was the pcv valve in the intake manifold causing several other major issues after the failure
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while driving approximately 50-55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. additionally, there were mineral deposits in the engine and also the water pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact was concerned that there was no prior warning to indicate that the engine was overheated. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
My chevy cruze lt will show a message on the dash reading ac off due to high engine temp. and another message saying engine overheating idle engine. no mechanic can figure out the issue and this problem has been happening the last two years 2018 and this year 2019. my ac is not turned on when this message appears. it takes all my radiator fluid from the reservoir leaving my fluid empty. there are many complaints online through forums regarding the same problem other chevy cruze owners are having as well. hundreds of thousands of people are having the same problem i have.
This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks i run in to same issues driver information center (dic) displayed: (1) power steering issues (2) traction control (3) stibiltrack (4) rpm gauge goes nuts (5) oil level zeroes out then reappears (6) speed meter blank out (7) radio (mp3 usb player stops working ) (8) head light flicker (high beams look like low beams and low beams like dimmers (9) steering wheel vibrates and gets stiff but still drive able (10) does this for 1hr to 3 hr car acts normal but goes nuts and lose gas at a 2gal every 15 min normally it last longer but then goes back to close to where it was before this stated dealer replaced the pcv vale head as he said it had a air leak ??? mile on car 71,000 used as a personal car and last 1 1/2 as a lyft car and a pvt office when i had to work as a security gurd and had to remain in car in open lot in middle of winter storm with no heat ( 36 hr on with a 100 mile back and forth trip to site for a weekend )
Have had to change out the thermostat three (3) times in one year (march 2018 to march 2019).
Tried twice, car did not start. no lights just dead. tried once more started, all looked ok. drove 1/4 mile engine died with a clunk and jerk, service power steering warning came on, then service traction control warning came on. steered off road (power steering was working) put vehicle in park, tried to start several times. interior light came on but would not start. after several minutes tried again, started and check engine light was lit. drove to home and while in reverse to park, engine died again.
The front crank shaft seal is bad. it makes the engine make a very loud chirping noise when it warms up. if you pull the oil dipstick out it stops. i've had to keep my dipstick out so that it doesn't chirp. it's causing other issues with car. like stability control, fuel mileage and having to change oil more often. i've been trying to get it fixed but haven't been able to. i'm afraid that it is damaging the engine more than necessary. from what i've learned chevy is aware that this is an issue with the cruze. but no recall has been issued to fix this. service bulletin p11297b, 2-2015
Water pump leaked, replaced that. hose to the water pump leaked, replaced that. now blown head gasket. breaks have squeaked since i bought the car.
While driving i noticed my vehicle wasn't giving out much heat, i was freezing and i even let my car heat up before leaving. soon a warning light came on saying "ac off due to high engine temp" it was then i looked and noticed my temperature gage and realized my car was overheating. i got it home shut it off and the fan was still going. so i started my car again, looked at the gages to see that everything was normal. i proceeded to turn my car back off and this time the fans turned off. doing some research and found that there are many cases in which this is happening with other 2015 models and also within 2014 back to 2012. hoping this is an issue chevy can make right.
Takata recall. the problem is our water pump. the car only has 63,000 miles on it. we had it fixed by a mechanic but can still smell antifreeze the same smell when the water pump went out and check engine light came back on. hopefully you people can figure this out or if there are more complaints about this problem because it cost us a lot of money and had to cancel appointments because of it. the car was being driven by my wife on the highway when she noticed she didn't have any heat pulled into a driveway and saw lots of fluid around the engine with a strong smell of antifreeze.
Takata recall. i have a concern that chevy cruze might have an issue with the turbo of the vehicle. my car is 3 years old and has now experienced a turbo issue. i personally know of 2 other vehicle owners within my area that is currently going through the same issue.
Water pump failure. the recall on the cruze is for the years prior and still an issue for the 2015 model.
Car jerks and shakes due to engine malfunction. engine has a manafucters crack and it shakes while stationary and moving
When driving my 2015 chevy cruze down the highway i noticed that the temperature of the car was going up past the normal point and that the heater was no longer working. about 5 minutes later the display said "a/c turned off due to excessive engine heat" and then the car proceeded to go into "limp" mode where it could no longer be driven and told me to pull over and allow it to idle. after a minute or two with the engine temperature not going down, i turned off the car and had it towed to a gm certified mechanic who reported that the water pump had gone out and that the car had been leaking coolant.
Apprx. 29000 miles. prob. 1: heater stopped workiing, prob. 2: vent blower motor making loud tinking noise. prob 3: feel pulsating intermittently while driving, got really bad and service stabilitrak display appeared. got to destination, car parked couple hours. upon starting car and putting in drive with light acceleration it wouldn't move, accelerate more would jump forward then lock up. next day had car towed to dealer. picked car up 7 days later, it drives but now makes chirping noise when shifting with break completely depressed, break line chirping as well. will bring back to dealer. all repairs covered by warranty. 1 month warranty left.
While driving at approximately 40 mph, i noticed engine coolant leakage had occurred. all the coolant had been evacuated from the reservoir onto the pavement. vehicle had to be towed to the mechanic shop and evaluated. mechanic told me that the water pump had leaked all the coolant and had to be replaced along with the thermostat. according to service bulletin 14371a, only model year 2011-2014 are affected. i believe that model year 2015 should be added.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle made a loud noise when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to midas, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted and unable to provide assistance. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 106,000.

I was experiencing trouble with accelerating and i pulled over and the engine burst into flame and totaled my car. called 911 and the fire department put int out.
Our 2015 chevrolet cruze started idling at high rpms, had trouble shifting and the check engine light came on. we took it in and was told couldn't find the problem so they reset the code. it started again after about two weeks so we took it to an independent mechanic shop. they said it was the pcv valve and that they have seen a lot of cruze' with this problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while pulling into the driveway, strong fumes emitted inside the vehicle and within the air vents. the contact turned off the air conditioner and the engine overheating warning indicator illuminated, and smoke entered the vehicle. the contact was able to turn off the vehicle and she and a child passenger exited the vehicle. the dealer (gordon chevrolet, 6301 e roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, pa 19149, (215) 537-2377) was notified of the failure and asked the contact to have roadside assistance tow the vehicle to them for diagnostic tesint. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 18,148.

I purchased this 2015 cruz with 18,000 miles on the vehicle from lee johnson chevrolet in kirkland, wa. it has been back to the mechanic 3 separate times with a complaint that this vehicle excelerates sporadically and without notice. there is no fault codes that come up. the mechanics drive it but this does'nt happen to him, therefore they state that this is not a problem. i feel totally unsafe when this happens and i'm afraid to drive this car. ( i drive with one hand on the gearshift in case this happens so i can put it in neutral immediately. i want this complaint to go on record that i have filed this claim as well as worked with the mechanics on 3 different occasions and feel as if i have no recourse for what i consider a serious problem
My car has a "knocking" sound, i've been told it's my "lifters" and that my car is too new to sound like this already! i am the first owner and i have taken my car to the dealership since day one for oil changes or any other issues
Since owning my new 2015 cruze i have had several concerns which have not been addressed of fixed by the technicians the list is: while traveling down the road my radio system has blacked out; shut off and restarted itself; it happens every other time i am in the car, sometime it happens several time on a long drive. i have also experience drifting of the car when traveling down the highway; when i correct the drift the steering wheel is stiff and causes an over correction pulling me the other direction. the biggest concern i have experience lately is the loud high pitched noise coming from under the hood; this occurs after i have parked the car and removed the key; one time i could hear the coolant lines gurgling. very scary not knowing what is going on under there.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while driving approximately 3 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure recurred on two other occasions. also, on another occasion, the brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle. the contact placed the vehicle into reverse and the brake pedal responded. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was unable to be duplicated. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 190.
Cruze has coolant odor outside car and has loss of coolant at every oil change. dealer does not write this down on service records. this is similar problem as 2012 cruze eco i had to trade in because gm/dealer could not fix the problem of antifreeze loss. under some conditions coolant temperature gets up to 236 deg f before radiator fan comes on and this gets worse in winter. this high temperature seems to align with problem but the analog gauge stops at about 3/8 and will not go further even when digital temperature registers 190deg f or 240 deg f. ( they said gauge is designed this way) gm and dealer say system is working as designed but haven't explained fan operation or why temperature gets to 236 deg f when normal temperature is 221 deg f. they cannot explain odor or loss of coolant. this could be problem in any chevy cruze eco and if driver does not watch coolant level the car could overheat.
