Exhaust fumes entering air vents. taken in to dealer several times and they cannot fix the problem. my daughter has been sick and we keep explaining to the that fumes have caused her to have pneumonia, sinus issues, dry eyes, sore throat, migraine headaches, sleepy driving and hours after driving, confusion, anxiety, nausea. the dealers mechanic solution is not to use ac or heat and keep windows open. my husband drove it 20 minutes in traffic and got sick when he reach the dealer for 3rd repair request in 2 months. engineer from gm is looking at car may 2018. my daughters health is continuing to improve not driving the cruze. not one person should be sick or die from a car that has a defect that cant be resolved.

Notorious gm issue - transmission cooling lines. third time mine have been replaced and are now leaking again - suspect in colder climates the part is not holding up and especially susceptible to defects. fluid leaks out and causes build up on the line, which could potentially be a fire hazard. i have done research and discovered this is a very common issue with this model cruze. the dealer is asking $400+ to repair what i view is a defective part and design. i have had nothing but problems with this vehicle and this is another problem i am faced to cover the repair bill for a faulty design/product. gm should be held accountable and stand behind their product with a solution to this issue. thank you for your time.

Water pump leaks and causing the engine to overheat. my car has less than 53,000 miles on it. found a service bulletin on the issue but for some reason, chevrolet won't honor it and says my vehicle doesn't qualify for it. bulletin #: 14371a

Radio or touch panel restarted then vehicle began shaking and making vibration noises enigine noises error light began flashing and stability track was on the driver information center about a mile further down the road everything cleared up to include the flashing engine light. now it is on again and doesnt clear up cannot drive it. recently have replaced at my expense the pcv cover and pcv twice, the entire ac delco intake due to massive oil consumpotion the crank seal due to squealing the coil pack and plugs due to a cracked insulator and electrolisis on the contacts. i now have 114,000 miles on it and read there is a recall on the battery grounding system that causes this current system and covers up to 120,000 miles? i searched and it has 0 recalls on this vehicle.

For the past year i've been dealing with my car overheating. the screen will display ac off due to high engine temperature, from then the screen will go to engine overheated idle engine, every time i drive these signals come on, if i stop at a stop sign or red light cold air automatically stars to kick out. i've taken it to three different chevy dealerships along with two other repair shops, i've had a new water pump, new thermostat, timing house sensor changed and radiator flush done over the course of a year in a half and still to this day no one can seem to fix it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the service engine and service stability traction control warning indicators kept illuminating. the dealer (tim short chevrolet, 500 thompson hollow, williamson, ky 41503, (606) 237-1220) who sold the vehicle was made aware that the failure had progressed within a week of ownership; however, no diagnostic testing was provided. the vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer or an independent mechanic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the manufacturer advised that the vehicle be taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the failure mileage was not available.

It started with the radio turning off while braking and the radio continued to go off and on i contacted gm who claims it's not an electrical defect? first issue the car can be off keys out of ignition and you can press the on button for the radio and it plays? now it's starting to drive funny and most recently it starts with the remote start every time but when i use the key it doesn't always start? this is a huge issue!

A warning to chevy cruze owner's myself owning one, i noticed the car losing acceleration and at certain times, misfiring from a cylinder, to sum it up, i ran the obd code and got code # p0304 which is engine misfiring. i ended up waiting until the car was cold and removed the t30 screws to access the spark plugs, the coil pack's rubber boots were melted onto my spark plugs, i have take super care of the car and i never would of thought of the coil pack having a serious issue, this is definitely something owner's should be aware of. i hope this can get looked into and a recall would be a helpful option, those coil packs should be made differently or make something more durable than plastic boots. this problem started a few weeks back, it would run fine for almost a half hour and then it started chugging and at traffic lights, it had no power to move, process of elimination was a code for the barometric pressure sensor, so i started there first only because it was cheaper, once i got a confirmed code of cylinder's misfiring that's when we took an in depth look at the spark plugs, i had to replace the coil pack and i did 4 new spark plugs.

I happen to check under my hood to see why i wasn't getting any heat in my car. i then came to realize that there wasn't any coolant, when i was there one 10 days prior at the dealership to get my oil changed and the paper stated that all fluids were checked. i then notified the dealership, and put some coolant in my car so i wouldn't cause any damage to the motor. they check it, claimed there wasn't anything going on with it. and sent me home. i then had a coworker tell me that what i was describing was my water pump. i then notified the dealership again that i was having the same issues, and that i am now smelling coolant in the car and my car act like its ready to stall.. they got me back in and checked what i was complaining about. they found out i was right it was the water pump.. i had found a recall about this whole thing and showed them, and because they checked by vin number my car didn't have this recall but my car should have. it was for the 1.4 engine, not my 1.8. i had my water pump replaced, my thermostat and i am still having issues. this car is only 3 years old and shouldn't have these problems so early. gm needs to do something for all cruze owners cause i am tired of spending over 600 dollars and still having issues.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated while driving at approximately 50 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. the check engine and traction control warning indicators illuminated. a local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. the vehicle was equipped with an engine control stop/start system. while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light with the brake pedal depressed, the engine control stop feature activated. when the brake pedal was released, the vehicle failed to return to the start mode. the contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and restarted and the vehicle operated as intended. the vehicle was taken to don ledford automotive (located at 4595 n. lee highway, cleveland, tn 37312, tel: (423) 709-8643) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that there was no fault code produced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted or notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 14,999.

I have have to have a pcv value cover/intake manifold replaced in my car 3 times. my car is covered under warranty but that warranty will expire. i will have to have is replaced again at some and it seems that no one is asking why this part has to be replaced so frequently in a car that is less than 5 year old. there is a code that appears but it is months after the car starts to surge when you turn it on and feel like it is going to cut out when idling. i live in the city and cannot hesitate to drive when the light turns as it may cause an accident.

Turbo/ super charger for 2014 cruze lt gasoline engine has caused a check engine light there has been multiple reports for the 2014 cruze lt that the super charger cracks and leaks exhaust fumes into the turbo charger which restricts the turbine from functioning properly and normal cost just to buy the part is 800 usd to 1200 usd to purchase excluding install cost. the issue is internal which could only be classified as a manufacturer default and should be addressed as such.

I purchased my car in april 2016 with approx 22,000. on the second day there was a loud noise coming from the front of the hood which it sounded very close towards the engine, exhaust part of the car. i took it in to the dealership and they didn't state what the issue was they just told me they had fixed it. the noise went away. 3 months later i started having issues with my steering wheel locking. i was at a big intersection when i was turning left my steering wheel locked on me and my entire lights including the dashboard went out. i couldn't move my car in the middle of the intersection and luckily there wasn't cars coming towards me. it took about 10-20 seconds to come back on. when it did come back on there was a lot of lights popping up and then there was a "stabili trak" light on. i pulled over to the side because i knew i couldn't drive it anymore. i called my dealership and i took it in that same day. they told me it was a wire that was loose and they had fixed it. well they did not, 3 weeks later the same thing happened to me and they didn't know what was going on then. i took it in again and the problem went away for about 2 months and now i am back to the same thing except something new. not only does my light come up and my steering wheel still locks on me but my car began shaking last night and when i would drive it it would make the same loud noise from the beginning towards the front of the car towards the engine, and it would hesitate on going when i would make a stop. like if it was about to fully turn off so my car got towed to a dealership last night. the issues were not fixed and they are only getting worse.these issues should've been taken care the first time i had gone to the dealership. now it's the 4th time i have gone to a dealership and nothing is being resolved and i pretty sure now there is a big issue with my engine with so little miles!

I have purchased this vehicle used in july of 2015 from the chevrolet schumacher dealership located in north palm beach, florida i currently have 61,939mi. my last oil change was in 12/2016 and is due at 64,000mi. to date i have had numerous issues with this vehicle from installing new spark plugs, brakes that sound like an amtrak train, and now my engine light comes on and my bumper-to-bumper warranty is already expired at like 33,000mi. so now i fall under the power train warranty which covers your engine and transmission. however i am not sure what is causing my engine light to come on, i really don't want to pay $160.00 for a diagnostic test and then have to pay on top of that $800 for an issue with my engine. i shouldn't be having these problems especially since it will mark my 2 year anniversary having this vehicle in july 2017.i am very displeased right now and would like this issue to be investigated and that someone from this government agency contact the dealer located in north palm beach so they can find out what exactly is wrong with my car. something like this should happen to cars that are 5 years old not 1 1/2 years old. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle over heated and stalled without warning. as a result, the contact discovered that the oil cap had fractured. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the reservoir and the coolant valve had fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred one week later. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where the catalytic converter, the water pump and the thermostat were all replaced but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 142,000.

A few weeks after taking my chevy cruze diesel in for a recall for a o2 sensor the car's other o2 sensor and controller needed replacing after the car went into a exhaust fluid quality limp mode. the issue appears to be related to the recall but gm is charging me over $800.00 for the repair.

Check engine light has been going on & off for years. dealership has never been able to determine why this happens. recently i have narrowed it down to the light coming on every time i fill up my car with gas & it is a diesel. on a recent trip to tn my car went into safety mode & i spent 6hrs at a dealership. they eventually found nothing & re-set the computer. when i returned home a recall for the very same problem was in my mailbox. now i have received another letter from chevy stating there is another problem

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. whenever the contact placed fuel into the fuel tank, the vehicle failed to start without a two minute delay and the check engine indicator illuminated. also, whenever the vehicle was stopped for approximately three or more minutes, it would suddenly stall. the contact had to restart the vehicle in order to accelerate. when the vehicle was driven approximately 50 mph, the power steering failed. all the failures recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 200.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle surged forward inadvertently at different times. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 12,386. updated 01/11/2017*ct consumer stated it happened again after being checked by dealer (day after was checked). updated 6/25/18*jb

Service engine light flashed with messages to service both stabilitrak and traction control. later that same day noticed jerking of engine so strong it shook the car while idling and constant loud squeeling noise. also noticed the vehicle lags on acceleration/take off after idling. this happened at approx 29,500 miles.

Soon after purchase in 2014, my cruze turbo diesel started having many different errors showing on the dash display anywhere from traction control, power steering, and others. after many attempts through local dealers, gm sent a technician to me and repaired that issue. now there has been many issues with the car flashing issues on the dash about diesel exhaust fluid poor, particulate filter full need regen, and finally power decreased, which i did not have hardly any acceleration. i followed every procedure the owners manual and car told me to do, and still did not regenerate the particulate filter. the dealer had to force a regeneration on the filter and order a def heater. it seems that there is many electrical issues with this car and once one is repaired, another one appears. other than the electrical / computer issues which is unpredictable, it is a great car since we purchased it new.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. the dealer performed a diagnostic, which located several failure codes at the ignition switch, throttle body position, and the air flow sensor. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. while driving at an unknown speed, the check engine warning indicator illuminated continuously and caused the vehicle to stall. the vehicle was towed to morgan pontiac (2295 autoplex drive, bossier, la 71111) where it was diagnosed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred two weeks later. the vehicle was towed back to morgan pontiac where it was diagnosed that the radiator cap was leaking and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the motor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

Letter from congresswoman comstock on behalf of constituent re chevy cruz engineering failure of the construction of the vehicle. *smd the consumer stated she was not aware of recalls 14v092000 and 14v151000; power train that were issued on march 31, 2014 and no one at the dealer brought it to her attention. she purchased the vehicle on july 3, 2014. on december 26, 2015, she experienced complete engine failure. the dealer replaced the engine. however, on february 1, 2016, the vehicle lost all power while driving on the highway. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. *jb

Fuel system failure resulting in catastrophic engine fire. i purchased this vehicle brand new in april 2014. after complaining about engine power loss three months prior, i started smelling a fuel odor the week before thanksgiving, i immediately notified the chevrolet dealer about the odor, the dealer did inform me that a tsb was on gm dealer world in regards to the fuel rails possibly coming loose causing a fuel odor / hesitation. after careful examination of the vehicle there was no visible fuel liquid present on the engine or ground below the vehicle. the vehicle sat parked in the driveway for majority of the day, upon starting the vehicle to transport to the dealer three minutes after the vehicle burst into flames in the engine compartment, using a garden hose while calling 911 the vehicle became fully involved in the engine bay spreading into the passenger compartment. once water contacted the engine bay the fire further spread indicating the fire was chemically based. the local fire department extinguished the vehicle using a foam water mixture. the vehicle was declared a total loss by insurance, i contacted gm customer support only to be stonewalled by the agent. i had over 10000 dollars in payments invested in this vehicle. gm should have stepped up to the plate not the insurance. not a surprise after the ignition switch discretions and deaths. google chevy cruze engine fires this has happened several times before!!!!!!!!!!

November 2015 in 55 degree weather while driving an error message of "a/c off due to high engine temp". this happened during the summer of 2015, my car shut off an and i took it to the dealership and they remedied the issue. i believe they said it was the water pump. again, it's giving me this error message.

Car randomly will shutoff/jerk and restart, similar to turning off the key and turning it back on immediately. all of the dash lights came on and went off, the radio restarted and froze. vehicle lost power electrically and the engine shutoff for a split second. vehicle has electric power steering that quit, due to loss of vehicle power. this occurred while coming to a stop at a stop light, almost stopped.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired four times. the vehicle was not operating correctly and lost power while being driven or idling. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was unable to be diagnosed. the mechanic informed the contact that the failure was the first they had seen and a solution or repair could not be done until the root cause of the failure could be determined. the vehicle was leaking coolant and the mechanic did not know if the engine or transmission had been exposed to the coolant. the mechanic stated that a leak could not be found. the failure mileage was 23,000.

My cruze diesel around 30k miles, had an electrical issue which resulted in the dealership replacing the radio and other electrical nodes. around 40k miles the battery and alternator went bad. none of which were covered by the dealership so i had to pay for it myself. since 45k miles, the car has randomly popped up a message saying the engine power is reduced. i travel to large urban areas and this has happened to me in the worst of situations and i am lucky to be alive due to this issue. this now comes on often and is not covered by the chevy dealership i went to. i just purchased this car in 2014. seriously considering the lemon law

Driving down a road on the friday morning. when a deer popped up in front of me. i hit the deer on cruise control going 70 mph; but was hard braking to avoid the deer. the vehicle clipped the deer on the front left side of the car by the hood. the airbags did not deploy, meaning it wasn't even a big impact. so i pulled over to call authorities when the car began to smoke. shortly after, estimated two minutes, the vehicle caught fire. the fire begin on the front left side of where the battery was located. it completely burned down the car. not sure how hitting a deer, would not set off the air bags and also start a fire. luckily i was able to make it out with no injuries.

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 chevrolet cruze. while approaching a stop light, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. all of the lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the engine stalled. the vehicle caught fire and was destroyed. a police report was filed and no injuries were reported. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 200. the vin was unavailable.

On april 21 2015, right rear brake was squealing took to dealership and they cleaned and adjusted rear brakes. car had 21804 miles at the time. on may 10, 2016 took car back to the dealership had 559990 miles the car started to over heat. the water pump was leaking and they replaced the pump. back to the dealership on may 31, 2016 57300 miles check engine light was on and car had a miss. it had a leading valve cover and intake manifold.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. while driving at 55 mph, the engine stalled and both of the headlights became inoperable. the contact crashed the vehicle into a side railing. the contact stated that the signal indicators were inoperable. the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

Looses power when sitting at light, doesn't quite shut off, constant belt squealing, engine light coming on, taken back to dealership on 3/21/15 because the engine light came back on, belt still squealing, engine still hesitating and losing power. dealership replaced knock sensor and drive belt tensioner. taken back on april 3, squealing still, making a loud sound when you turn the car off, still having hesitation problems. dealership replaced water pump and harmonic balancer. taken back again, still hesitating, dying down in power still, making sound when you shut the engine off still. taken back again, replaced seal in engine that was being sucked into intake. still having problems with hesitation, power dying down and no pick up or acceleration.

I purchased a lease vehicle (@500 mileage at the time). a few months later, the motor sounded like i had over 100,000 miles. very loud. i changed the oil at permitted time, took it in for a mechanic test drive. mechanic said it seemed fine. feedback from passengers were affirming that there is definitely an issue. it seems the colder it is, the harder it runs. like you never change your oil, and the muffler has a hole, or the motor runs real heavy, like rpms sticking. sometimes its more faint. i tried higher grade gasoline, as advised, this did not help. more importantly. the doors should definitely be recalled. they are a safety concern. they slam back on you even if opened all the way, if on an uneven pavement or slight incline. there is only one latch at all the way open. this has been a major problem and slams back on my children and myself. i am concerned for others that may drive this vehicle. there should be a second latch or catching mechanism to prevent it slamming on your legs/head. *tr

Water pump had to be replaced due to leak, computer reprogramed to fix steering wheel catch, battery terminal cable replaced for unknown reason. all this on a brand new 2014 cruze. wtf? not to mention initial drive shaft repairs. thought this was an american made car with quality american parts, worst first new car buyer experience ever. make it right gm. *tr

I found a white metallic gunk on driveway. i went to investigate for leakage, after dealer had one week ahead appointment available. i found rust on the welds of the muffler, rust on the hanger rods for the muffler, rust on nuts and bolts throughout the under carriage, rust on metal parts of the drive shaft, rust on the back tire trims, rust on the engine block, rust on the suspension, rust on the shocks, and the list goes on, on the many more parts of the under carriage. not just rust but corrosive rusting, that just didn't start over the last three weeks. dealer had to fail to put car up on rack upon receiving from chevrolet, and failed before handing it. this type of rusting happens only after maybe three years or more at least according to people i've shown the photos to, who know cars. dealership has a gm expert coming in to expect the car. feel very unsafe driving this car. *tr

After purchasing the 2014 cruze on july 29, 2014, i drove it to my residence which was for 6 miles and parked in my driveway. i placed the shift level in the park position and set the emergency brake. my grand daughter, age 16, asked if she could test drive the car. after entering the vehicle, she released the emergency brake and attempted to start it. the car would not start and unknown to her while attempting to start, the vehicle slowly went backwards into the street. the shift lever in the vehicle was stuck in park and would not move and it would not start. i called on star and asked them to run a test on the car to see what was wrong with it. the lady came back with no known problems from their test. i asked and she called a tow truck to return the vehicle to the dealer. the cruze was repaired the next day. the problem was identified with a defective shift cable. the casing around the shift cable at the transmission cracked causing cable not to release leaving transmission in free mode. i was upset and angry with the dealership and gm because the vehicle broke down in the first 6 miles. i then checked for recalls on the vehicle and found gm recall number 14048 and nhtsa recall 14v092, which identified my defect exactly, but did not include my vin in the recall order. i called gm and expressed my concerns they assigned a case number and a very nice lady called and asked what would make me happy. my main concern was the safety of my family and other people who have bought the cruze with a defective shift lever cable. once a part is identified as defective it should no longer be used and it should be replaced on all manufactured vehicles. i was offered a replacement vehicle by the dealership and gm but i declined the offer. *tr

Moving with traffic, sneezed and when i opened my yes i couldn't stop in time and rear ended a stopped or slowing down vehicle. i was wearing my seat belt, slammed into the steering wheel, wondered why the air bags didn't deploy. went to hospital. bruised from right side of neck down my chest. faint black yes from hitting steering wheel. bruises on both knees. i am concerned the air bags failed. your assistance would be appreciated. also have pictures of bruising. *tr

This vehicle has been service 10 times since i purchase it. every 3 or 4 months i have to bring the vehicle to get it fix. i have contacted gm several times about this issue but no response. i am concern there is a problem and it will get worse.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. while driving, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to thornton chevrolet (180 s main st, manchester, pa 17345, (717) 266-8800) where it was diagnosed that the knock sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired under warranty. the contact also stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated fourteen times since the vehicle was purchased. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case number: 95372768444. the approximate failure mileage was 2,039. *bf *tr

At the end of december 2013 i purchased a 2014 chevy cruze turbo diesel. shortly after buying this vehicle i discovered there as a problem with the excessive torque and the braking system and hair trigger brake release. when releasing the brake this car would leap forward in an unsafe manner. this would happen when releasing the brake slightly. releasing the brake a quarter of an inch or less was sufficient. i am not talking about my foot slipping off the brake pedal. the high rpm's and torque is not a good match with this particular automatic transmission. i am sure a standard transmission would be a better match. after my car jumped out into a major street and almost caused an accident i took my vehicle to my local dealership. the dealership examined my car and came up with the bellowing results: brakes feel normal for vehicle. 4 wheel disc and has electric vacuum pump. no repairs required at this time. idle normal for present time, ecm will rise idle at certain time like cold start compensate for battery draw of glow plugs?. by the way the above incident occurred when the car was normal operating temperature. as a result i immediately traded this vehicle (1500 miles were on the odometer) for a different brand. it would be nice if your engineers could look into this matter to avoid future incidents with other chevy cruz owners. i am very concerned over the safety of this vehicle. thanks *tr
