Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle over heated and the check engine warning lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician diagnosed that the cooling system was defective which caused the cooling fluid and oil to mix. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 101,263.

1.4 liter 2011 cruze heater blowing cool air. gm inspection done on 10/17/13 and they said everything was good. they told me not to worry about the intermittent check engine light that keeps coming on. this happened within two weeks. we added a almost a quart of coolant following the directions in the owners manual. now a month later it is a quart low again blowing cool air from the heater and a strong sweet smell permeates the car. the car also fails to properly brake at times and gain speed at times. it has stalled while idling at stoplights. there is a oily residue on the plastic shield located near the oil pan. *tr

Mil p0171 code, replaced 3 valve covers because of the pcv and now i've been informed the intake manifold is defective.

Problem started close to winter, october 2013. coolant level slowly decreased, not concerned at the time, just topped off during oil changes. fast forward to april 2014, refill of coolant needed daily if heat is used. coolant tank is completely empty after car is off and sitting for a few hours! large puddle of coolant under engine, not the radiator. remains to be a slow leak. when heat is on, coolant begins to slowly leak underneath engine. temp gauge is always normal. no signs of overheating, no excess coolant in engine bay. all routine maintenance completed by chevrolet dealerships. dex (gm specific coolant, orange in color) coolant used exclusively. every time heat is turn on, at any temp, at any fan speed, at any setting (defrost, floor, etc.) there is a strong odor of burning/hot coolant. i am unable to put my children in vehicle!, when heat is needed in vehicle. odor is too strong and children complained of nausea and lightheadedness. to many instances similar to this listed. gm needs to provide resolution. *tr

2011 chevy cruze transmission problem. occasional hesitation accelerating, clunking jerking transitioning through gears accelerating or slowing down while driving on city streets and highway. tried to accelerate on highway and car took a long while to get up to speed while other cars behind me were honking horns for me to speed up. dealer says all is fine and that's just how the transmission and turbo engine is! can never duplicate this problem. now no longer under warranty, the dealer is willing to keep the car for a longer period. gm says it would "see" what they could do after the dealer physically inspects the transmission at my cost. the dealer charges $145. per hr. labor rate!! i went to another mechanic and had them change the transmission fluid because the dealer said the fluid doesn't need and he said it was black! had it changed after i read complaints on carcomplaints.com. i am just afraid that it will quit on me while traveling at high speed! i can't afford to spend money on a new trans if i will continue to have the same problems. gm should have a full recall on the 2011 cruze. the car had only 29,000 mi. on it the first time i complained and now it has 69,000 and the problem manifests itself a little more frequently but not on a weekly basis. i am at my wits end and the problem is not in my head. people are in danger and gm isn't "owning" this problem. extremely disappointed. i've maintained this vehicle faithfully with oil changes, etc. since day one...responded to all recalls. not going to dealer again. always have something to repair or replace.

Vehicle failed to accelerate off of the on ramp onto the highway. the engine could be heard revving up, but did not increase in speed. when exiting the highway, i pull off to the side of the road, shifted the vehicle into park, then back into drive and the vehicle would not go forward. even in manual mode the car would not shift into a forward moving driver. *tr

The car has been running great and on sunday i noticed that it seemed to be running away with itself and sounded like the air conditioner was on when it was not. took it to a shop here with stanley auto groups permission , they had the mechanic put a machine on it and it came up with a code and the stanley auto group person told him it was a thermostat problem. i work at a church and my pastor looked it up and found there was a recall from the nhtsa. i then called a chevrolet dealer and he said there was no recall. i think the chevrolet dealership is giving me the run around because there have been several recalls since i bought the auto in spetember of 2012 and have never gotten a recall notice. *tr

Most of the miles i put on a car are highway miles. i have a 90 mile round trip to get to work. the first time this happened was approximately 2 years after i bought the car and had roughly 60,000 miles on it (summer of 2013). the a/c shut off and the water temperature rose very quickly. i topped off the coolant and didn't have any more trouble for awhile. about this same time i started getting a sickly sweet burnt oil smell in the car. very strong smell when stopped and there's no air flow to dissipate the fumes. just recently it happened again. same thing, a/c shut off, water temp indicator pegged out and i got a message saying "go to idle" or something to that effect. there was coolant sitting on top of the engine. with the car at idle i could only find a small leak at the radiator hose where it plugs into the water outlet. i assume the leak is much worse when the water temp goes up and the system pressurizes. every 50 miles or so now i have to check the coolant level or risk another overtemp. next is the transmission. i hate this transmission. it's very jerky when shifting and has been since day 1. i thought maybe as i drove the car it would smooth out eventually. no it did not. it's especially bad if you are coasting to a stop but resume acceleration before stopping. finally, the brakes have a glitch. from my driveway i back slightly uphill and then downhill into the road. at this point i have to stand on the brake pedal or shift into drive if i expect to stop. it seems to only happen backing out of my driveway. if i back up on level ground i don't notice it happening. it may be the difference in speed. i'm not going as fast on level ground as i am coming down my driveway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. while driving at 20 mph, the contact noticed a chemical odor coming from the air vents in the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. however, the failure recurred and the contact noticed that there was no coolant in the reservoir. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the hose from the engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 25,000. updated 6/11/15*cn updated 10/4/2017*cn

The car engine light came on and i took into the robbins chevrolet dealership for a check up and i told the advisor that the car was running sluggish and gears were slow interacting. they told me they would run a diagnostic test and determine the problem(s). the cause was a thermostat heater failed, so they replaced thermostat housing and pull vacuum on coding system to refill coolant and leak test. they road tested it and stated it was repaired. *tr

While driving at any speed for it has happened several times the rpm's go so high the car accelerates and it sounds like the engine is going to blow up... at the same time the steering column locks and i loose all ability to steer the vehicle and the brake also try to lock. making the car feel like i ran something over and it stuck under the car.... pulling the emergency brake and putting the car in neutral help bring it to a stop- *tr

Engine has stalled acceleration also known as throttle lag it is dangerous because you don't know when its going to do it and could cause an accident when pulling out into traffic . also transmission has a delayed engaging intraffic when you are stopped. *tr

Hesitant acceleration issue. after coming to a stop. i put my foot on accelerator and vehicle did not go forward at first. then engine rev up but vehicle started to move slowly. when it did i could only go 27 mph in a 45 mph zone. had to pull over and turn off vehicle. this is a very dangerous issue when trying to merge on to a highway. went to two authorized chevrolet dealers on 12/02/13 and 4/02/14. both dealers stated they could not duplicate problem and all trouble codes indicated everything is ok. which it is not. this is a 1.4 turbo 4 engine. i am afraid to drive this vehicle. please help! *tr

When accelerating transmission will not respond for a couple of seconds then when it does respond the whole car jerks when it goes into gear. i have taken it to the dealership and was told that they could not duplicate the problem. i now have 40000 plus miles and still having the same problem. *tr

Hello, my name is [xxx] and i am an israeli citizen. i own a chevrolet cruze 2011, israeli vin: [xxx]. i read the articles regarding issues found in the vehicle's ignition switch for some chevrolet models but i haven?t read about cruse as a suspect to such an issue. i wanted to pay your attention to an issue i had with my car around 1.5 years ago which is similar behavior to what you found out with the other models. after starting the engine while in parking, i switched the gear to reverse and started to drive back to get out of the parking space when suddenly i lost the steering of the wheel (like there was no oil pressure) and lost the brakes (the paddle was stiff and did not control the wheels). during the incident my family, including my wife, was with me in the car. my wife immediately understood that something was wrong and started to ask me what is the matter (she was an eye witness to the scenario). i had to shut down the engine (turned the key to off) and started the engine back again in order for the car to start reacting properly again. needless to say my wife and i were shocked by this and i took the car on the morning of the next day to the formal chevrolet garage to report the incident and request them to check what went wrong here (as the formal garage ? they hold an historical record of my complaint). after i was told by the garage that they couldn't find any problem, i had no choice but to accept the car but it bugged me until present time. in order to make sure your investigation will not skip a possible fatal issue with the cruse model (if the issues are the same), i simply wanted to point your attention to my small ?adventure?. please feel free to contact me and i will be happy to assist you further (if needed) ? email: [xxx] cellular:[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that she exited the vehicle and five minutes later, the vehicle ignited into flames. the contact stated that there was a fire report filed that stated that the fire started in the engine. the vehicle was destroyed and there were no injuries. the manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 42,000.

The chrome coating on the inside drivers side plastic door handle is failing. the edges of the chrome where it has separated from the plastic are razor sharp and have caused multiple fairly deep lacerations to my fingers when opening the door. i inquired at the dealer about them replacing the part under warranty because its causing me injury despite my cautiousness while opening the handle, they told me it wasn't covered and would be an expensive fix due to the labor involved. my second complaint is the heat works intermittently and when taken to the dealer, they said i had a cracked thermostat housing which would be covered under warranty. they did not fix it however and simply refilled my antifreeze and said they would call me to have it fixed when the part came in....that was almost two weeks ago. *tr

Vehicle is gradually losing(not leaking) antifreeze and dealers not coming clean with the truth they know. our personal mechanic(25yrs) has gone over the engine/car and no visible or via testing ,shows a leak. latest antifreeze fill needed approx 1/2 to 3/4gal of antifreeze. failed on inspection for low coolant *tr

The car check engine light came on, then it said power reduced. luckily no one was behind me. if i let the car set for a bit, it will start and run ok. the problem occurs only in the winter when it's damp or foggy and the temperature is at freezing. in the winter of 2013, it happened twice. it happened again on 01/07/14. i had the car towed to a mechanic, and was told that although the car's computer told him when it happened, it could not be determined why it happened. when it is warmer outside, it ran fine and probably will until it gets colder again! i asked the dealer if this was a problem anyone else was experiencing and was told no. based on what i see from postings on various websites, i am not alone! the throttle body appears to be an obvious a factory defect, but gm won't offer a recall. i commute about 60 miles to work each way, so the car is well beyond its warranty. it would be nice to not have to watch the weather report to decide if i think the car is safe to drive because it might cold enough to have it happen again. i was contacted by chevrolet customer service, and was told that they would check into the problem with my car. all they did was refer me to my dealership where it would be fixed at my expense, and did not recognize or admit that this is a problem with the design of the engine (factory defect). gm will not recognize that there is a problem with the 2011 cruze that many people are dealing with. the conditions under which the car loses power (cold weather) cannot be simulated by the dealership mechanics because their diagnostics in a heated garage. the problem has not and will not show up when they test it. when the car loses power it happens abruptly. this is a safety concern as the car cannot maintain its speed, and during heavy traffic flow it is likely that someone is going to end up in a crash as a result. it is a defect with the car! *tr

Car overheated on drive home. pulled over immediately and had car towed to dealership. water pump was replaced. since that time can continually smell antifreeze inside car. also have found puddles under car several times. have taken car back to dealership. was told they could find no leak. they stated the surge tank cap was loose and that they refilled tank. but it still smells. it is serviced by the dealership only. so why are they having to tighten the cap? and are they having to fill the surge tank repeatedly? *tr

We had purchased the vehicle just 8 months ago, was not purchased new, but was new used..still under warranty..we received the recall. had an oil change and detail to do anyhow, so took it in to where we bought the vehicle. they did the oil change, supposed recall fix and supposed detail. our vehicle was still under warranty at the time of the oil change. 36000. as we drove, started smelling burning oil...never occurred before. opened hood and noticed an oil leak below the vehicle into the engine shield. being out of warranty by that time, we did nothing. just figured they did an improper oil change and it was leaking. today, we discovered while checking the oil that it had gas in the oil chamber. in pulling the dip stick out, it leaked all over the engine..i quickly smelled of it, smelled like gas. my husband drained it, as we were four hours from home, replaced the oil with new. when we returned home, checked oil. 1/3 quart of gas had contained itself in the oil chamber on our small road trip. so, now we have a 2011. 43,000 mile new car with gas in engine oil and leaking.. any suggestions?? *tr

I am notifying you that i have had my water pump replaced three times since i have owned the car which was bought in april of 2012 with 9,000 miles on it, it seems every fall i am replacing the water pump as it has some sort of leak internally. it is very frustrating to continue to have this problem. now recently my turbo oil line sprung a leak at 92,000 miles and so did my transmission oil line so it was back in the repair shop. i have also had to replace the heated seat element as this has burnt out somehow. this car has been very frustrating mechanically but otherwise love my cruze. is there anything i can do besides wait for the 4th water pump to claim a lemon under the lemon law? *tr

On 10/11/2012, and 10/18/2012, and 11/20/2012 i experienced "dragging" while attempting to accelerate. the car acted as if it didn't want to go into the next gear. eventually it did, but not before struggling to do so. i had it towed to the dealership all 3 times at their expense because it was still under warranty. the car has been serviced 3 times for the same issue, but it hasn't been completely resolved. 90% of the time there is still some hesitation somewhere between 13 to 45 mph. so much so that even a passenger has felt it upon occasion. i don't feel safe in this vehicle at all times and i'm worried that i'll eventually be stranded again. even though it's been serviced 3 times i still have no peace about the situation because the car is still malfunctioning. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the check engine warning lamp illuminated and the temperature gauge went from normal to extremely hot in matters of seconds. the contact mentioned that the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times. the technician stated that the coolant needed to be replaced. the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 35,000. *tr

Once again my car has an engine cooling problem. this is the 2nd time this happened, the first was about 2 months ago. i was driving the car and the fan was making a loud noise, check engine light came one i called onstar asap they verified i was correct and sent a tow truck to pick up my car. i smell antifreeze all the time in the car and they antifreeze just disappears the dealership does not know where it's going. i'm seriously thinking about trading in my cruze because of these problems, which never get fixed. *tr

In 2012 i started having issues with my vehicle "chevrolet cruze 2011" and the vehicle is now or has been under gps based surveillance. the vehicles surveillance became aware to me during 2013 when i noticed constant beeping sounds. these were not the chime sounds indicating "vehicle service needed", these are post beeps or "hard drive access". the post beeps indicate access to the vehicles electronics system and compromising "electrical safety" and "sole operator owner" abilities. any time i step near the vehicle it would "sound off" indicating i approached the vehicle. any time any other person approached the vehicle it would not "sound off". any time i enter the vehicle the,car would "sound off". any time any other persons would enter the vehicle it would not "sound off". when beginning a trip the vehicle would "sound off". when reaching a stop or destination the vehicle would "sound off". when stopping at a stop light the or any stop sign or vehicle halt the vehicle would "sound off". the vehicles electrical system has been compromised, allowing malfunction and alterations of vehicle calibration "assumption". i have had electrical flaws within the vehicle such as the fans never shutting off since the stalking began. sounding off would be the audible post beeping hdd access sound, indicating information transfer within the vehicles computer system. this event is unheard of, and is undocumented on the internet, i also was able to verify with others that was not a noticeable event. this is a deliberate targeting and isolated harassment of myself and my personal life from a unknown source remotely. *js

I bought this vehicle as a present for my father. after getting it home, (driving it home was all highway), he drove it around the block and noticed it had a lag in the vehicle speed. it almost felt as though it was a manual transmission. i drove it home that night and noticed the same feeling. it's almost as though it takes a lot of effort out ofthe car to keep driving. it downshifts before its supposed to when driving and as a results isn't getting the gas mileage its supposed too. driving city, it was only getting 18-19mpg for me. it does much better on the highway, over 55mph, then with city driving. took it back to the dealer, who took it to a bigger chevy dealer and they stated nothing was wrong. got it back and its the same way. we love the car but will not drive it because we are afraid of not knowing what's wrong with it and possibly having something serious happen to it. we have 2 little ones that we need to worry about who ride in the car as well. seems pretty unsafe to have a car downshift and lag with speed aspect when its not supposed too. wish a recall would come out. *tr

I took my 2011 cruze to my nearest chevy dealer for safety recall 1208 ("engine flambe"). i was charged $2.66. the cashier mumbled something about a fee imposed by the state of delaware for either recycling or disposal. i always understood that the full cost of a safety recall must to be paid by the manufacturer. i'd like a refund of that $2.66. other affected owners--(wherever)--should also be reimbursed. if the fee was forced as the result of gm policy, then gm deserves to be fined. 9 am appointment on 25 july 2012. lewes automall 17861 coastal highway (state route 1) lewes de 19958. *tr

I have a chevrolet cruze, i bought it in july 2011 and after a few months i discovered that my car was shifting roughly. i also noticed that my car would not gain speed at a normal rate. my vehicle hesitates on acceleration and did since right after my purchase. the dealer could not find anything wrong according to their diagnosis "customer concern not duplicated". numerous other 2011 chevy cruze owners are experiencing the same exact issue after several unsuccessful visits to dealer service. this is a very uneasy feeling to have. when i sit at a red light the car jerks and i immidately think i got rear- ended but it is just the engine. please help!!! *tr

Received a safety recall notice on july 2012 for oil spills/leaks onto hot surfaces. i took my car into robbins chevrolet dealership for check up immediately on july 23, 2012 and they modified the engine shield. also, the battery was leaking acid and they replaced the battery, cables and fuse, block-cleaned. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle was included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 12v288000 (engine and engine cooling). the repairs stated the engine shield would be modified on vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. the dealer removed a portion of the shield that was twenty inches by twenty inches. as a result, the contact stated that the engine and other electrical parts were no longer protected against water, mud, or any other road conditions. the failure and current mileage were 24,421.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that she received notification that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 12v288000 (engine and engine cooling). the contact took the vehicle to the dealer twice in an attempt to have the vehicle repaired under the recall however, the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unavailable.

I have a 2011 cruz lt. i have noticed a weird smell when using the ac. only july 9th, 2012 i had a warning that said "turning of ac due to overheat" the car was not overheating. 5 hours later i turned the car on and the check engine light was on and the engine/fan was making a loud noise while running, which sounded like a huge fan. i called onstar they said they located an "engine cooling system problem" to turn off the car and to have it towed to the dealership. which i did. the dealership said my car was just out of antifreeze and they added more to it. i have looked online i'm not the only person with this problem. what am i supposed to do, just keep antifreeze with me at all times? there must be a leak somewhere for it to be empty. *tr

When heater is in use get a strong antifreeze smell in the car. also get a film on the inside of the windows. had back to the dealer 3 times. we have a 5 month old that rides in the car, not sure if it is safe for him with the coolant smell in the car. you have to wash in side of windows weekly so you can see at night. *tr

My wife notice the coolant reservoir level had falling well below the full mark. she notified me that she needed coolant added. so we both inspected the car and could not find any leaks so elected to fill the reservoir and notified the dealer. the dealer found that the water pump seal was bad and that the coolant would drip onto the underlying pan and evaporate not leaving a trace of a leak. this was part of a recall so the repair was made. april 2014, mileage 88000. another coolant leak, outlet manifold and hose failure. not covered under warranties due to it being a hose. so i was charged $243.80 for what turned out to be a outlet manifold, attached to the engine (failure). because a hose was attached to it they claimed it was not covered! my invoice reads $180.00 labor, 20.60 coolant, outlet 30.08 and hose 13.12. 11/18/2014, another coolant leak. i have an appointment on 11/20/2014 with the dealer and i'm going to ask for a refund due to in my opinion excessive coolant problems. i believe this could effect the engine cooling performance and damage the engine if not already. i have paid for the full warranty package when the car was purchased plus extended warranty package. the dealer is the only service dept. to ever touch this car. *tr

Tl* the contact owned a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, a strange odor emitted inside of the vehicle. the contact safely maneuvered to the shoulder and stopped. upon exiting, a ball of fire formed underneath the vehicle and the vehicle ignited into flames. the contact suffered minor burns to the face. the fire department appeared on the scene and extinguished the flames. the vehicle was destroyed due to the fire. the contact stated that the failure occurred not too long after a routine oil change. after the fire, the contact received the recall notice associated with nhtsa campaign id 12v288000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 21,017....updated 02-13-13 *bf updated 02/19/2013 *js

Vehicle was purchased used with 18*** miles on the odometer. vehicle transmission shifts erratically when driving in city conditions. problem may cause stalling of vehicle at lower highway speeds. the transmission appears to slip at slow speeds. before shifting, vehicle regularly hits maximum (red line) rpm. poor downshifting into lower gears causes vehicle to lunge forward at lower speeds. most notably from park to drive. on icy roads, the hard shifting may cause the vehicle to loose traction, resulting in a crash, causing fatalities or injuries to the occupants. vehicle was taken to dealership, technicians were unable to reproduce customer complaint. manufacturer was not contacted. current mileage 28***. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle smelled like anti-freeze. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the thermostat housing needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired and the failure recurred one week later. the vehicle had not been back to the dealer. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 7,900 and the current mileage was 8,024.

I brought my new car in for a oil change on 5-15-12, they forgot to put the oil cap back on and i had oil everywhere inside my car it was a complete mess, i did not know it was smoking because it was a rainy and foggy night. by the time we parked it we thought it was on fire, my husband checked the oil and it was empty, we got towed back to chevy of milford to be fixed and cleaned, they said that there was oil in it and only a little came out.[not true] i don't really think the car runs the same after that, it spits and spudders alot. on july 23rd 2012 i bring it back to them for a recall # 12081. and asked them to also check why my car spudders and to check for a slow leak in the back tire. they got back to me later that morning and said, there is nothing wrong with the way it drives, and my tire cant be fixed i would have to buy another for $125.00 because of where the hole was it could not be patched. i told them no on the tire and took it to a tire place, townfair tire took the screw out of it witch they didn't find [chevy of milford] and patched it from the inside at n/c. on 7-24-2012. i really don't feel safe in this car anymore after chevy of milford looked at it twice and came back with 2 lies. i don't even trust that they did the recall for all i know. where do i go from here? please help, i have 2 small grandchildren i drive around in this car. *tr

Hesitation at any speed, had to dealer multiple times for the same thing and they can't duplicate, took to dealer on oct 4th and dealer said that it needed a new cylinder head, got car back and nothing was done, still doing the same thing and called to complain to chevy which can't do anything either. *tr

1st the vehicle failed to shift into reverse. the torque converter had disassembled and transmission was replaced. one month later the engine began to smoke, the valve cover had melted and needed to be replaced gm charged me for this under warranty part. then, i was making a left hand turn onto a residential street my vehicle began to smoke inside the vehicle. i shut down the car and looked under the hood oil was in the anti freeze fill tank, i called gm they sent a truck and took it to dealership. the result; gm told dealership to replace engine, called back and said don't replace try to fix it. they replaced the turbo charger, turbo cooler, and oil cooler, only to have me back 5-6 times with cooling problems, the vehicle still has cooling issues, and goes back for service every two weeks or so. the vehicle was brought back to service as there were still shifting problems. they found the torque converter disassembled and transmission had to be replaced again, and then again a few months later. the vehicle has a steering issue that has been brought to the their attention. the steering locks up periodically when traveling over 30mph, and has made me afraid i will be driving and lock up permanently. the brakes are an issue on the vehicle now and prior to recall for brake assist, it is still hard to stop the vehicle. and brakes have to be replaced every 3 months. there is definitely an electrical issue with this vehicle as the emergency flashers worked periodically then completely stopped working, as well as the running lights burning out within a month of replacement on the passenger side of the vehicle. the dealership feels its not a problem. this vehicle may shut off from electrical issues eventually. when using the air conditioner the dashboard fills with over a half inch of condensation and leaks out of the vents profusely. valve cover had to be replaced again. *tr

After about 10,000 miles the car hesitates when the accelerator is pushed. around 20 to 30 mph when needing to speed up the vehicle the vehicle will stall the transmission will then kick in with noise. very unsafe to drive in moderate to heavy traffic in cities. i have been in traffic with multiple lanes and wanting to pass someone. when pushing the accelerator to pass the car just sits there! then after a hesitation the car will pop then finally move. car has been in the shop for this problem at the dealership where they state nothing is wrong with the car. i even had one of the mechanics tell me that for these types of transmissions it is normal! how can this be safe! if i wasn't aware of my driving and a very good driver i would have had multiple wrecks with this issue. luckily i have been able to over correct when the situation occurs. at one point i had to pull off the interstate due to the fact i was pushing the gas petal all the way to the floor and my car just stalled at 23 mph for over 15 seconds until i pulled over, released the petal and engaged again. *tr

Many recalls on vehicle, over 5. engine issues.. car does not run well... i've taken the car multiple times in the past months..

I was stopped at a light and when the light turned green, i tried to accelerate and my car nearly stalled. the idle went real low and i pushed my foot down on the throttle and got no response for a few seconds then the engine revved up and responded by quickly going through gears to catch me back up to speed with all other traffic. this occurs infrequently, but it has occurred more than an handful and less than a dozen times since i bought the vehicle. i have the turbo charged engine and do follow the guidelines for gradual pedal pressure to accelerate my vehicle but a near stall is not a byproduct of a heavy foot on my part. aside from the safety concerns,my job requires me to commute around 55 miles/day and i can't have a malfunctioning car or one that is constantly being called back to the shop for a recall. i have already taken at least 3 days off since purchasing this car to take it into the shop for repairs/recalls. i bought a new car to avoid these frustrations. currently, i have less than 40,000 miles (mostly highway) on this car. i don't think this is typical for a new car with low mileage. updated 11/24/2014 *js

I purchased this vehicle new from a chevy dealership in eden prairie, mn. after only 2 mths, it began intermittently hesitating, lurching forward when attempting to accelerate (while sometimes blowing hot air from the ac) & refusing to accelerate. multiple times it has completely stalled out (while driving 30-40 mph on a highway & when accelerating from a stop on a hill resulting in rolling backward). it is currently at the dealership for the 4th time for this specific issue, but does not show any codes (no ses light). they have made many repairs in an attempt to fix this issue (leaking water pump, reprograms, wastegate solenoid replacement, etc), but the problem still persists. i am concerned that my car will stall while on a highway or passing through an intersection, which would pose a huge safety threat. i have seen numerous similar complaints & would like gm to accept responsibility & replace/recall these vehicles. *tr

Received a recall #12081,we took the car into the local chevrolet dealer in conway sc for the repairs ,about 45 min. .when it was completed ,i asked the service adviser ,hoh it was repaired. he sad it was reworked and modified per chevrolet specs . little did i know. there repairs consist of removing most of the shield and leaving the engine and wiring left unprotected to the elements on the roads.all they had to do was cut a access hole in the plate to get to the oil drain plug /honestly it looks like it was done in such a hurry to just save a few dollars . 8 calls later , they all said the same thing, that is how the engineers said to do the repairs. sorry that all we can do for you, chevrolet thanks you for your concerns. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while driving at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two occasions, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 10,000. the vin was unavailable.

Since purchasing this vehicle there has always been a hesitation in the acceleration and "engine jerking". i originally reported within the first approx 6 months of owning the vehicle. the service center had their transmission specialist drive the vehicle and i was told "that is just how it drives. i told them on a second time about the ongoing issues and was dismissed. last year i started getting the "service stabilitrak" error and the jerking and lack of acceleration and hesitation has gotten increasingly worse. this is a safety concern as trying to go from a stopped position and going through an intersection it will lag and can cause a delay also driving down the road it will jerk and almost feel like i could lose control of the car. i often also get a smell of the coolant that goes through my car. i have had all recalls in the past taken care of, but the stabilitrak is an ongoing issue that is very concerning for the safety of myself and my daughter as a passenger in the vehicle. it has been an ongoing issue since the purchase of the vehicle 05/2011 only increasing in severity. *tr
