Problems with 2011 Chevrolet Cruze ENGINE

On average, the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 69 674 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2011 Chevrolet Cruze

Was driving vehicle when the engine light came on and the computer flashed that the engine power was reduced. the car immediately dropped speed in the middle of traffic and i was able to coast to the side of the road with out being stuck by any cars behind me. had i been on a highway i could have been killed. i have the computer that shows error codes when the check engine light comes on and it read that it was the throttle body. now when i turn the care on it sometimes will immediately say reduced power. i called chevy and they said it would be diagnosed by one of their dealerships. the first dealership said i will need to wait until march to come in, the next 2 weeks from now. in the meantime chevy thinks it's safe to drive my car like this. a quick search of the internet shows this is not an uncommon problem for chevy cars. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. while driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the instrument panel warning lights illuminated. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 29,000.

The first occurrence happened on jan. 20th 2015 on my way to work, twice. i noticed because the radio turned off and the service esp flashed with the traction light coming on with multiple other lights flashing. all of this including the radio flashed/turned off and on for about 2 minutes. over the next week this happened 5 or 6 times. all of these happened while going between 30 and 40 mph and on trips between 30-45 minutes. i had about a week with none of this happening and then on feb. 8th i was driving home, 20 mins from start to finish and twice the engine power reduced came on and i could not drive any where. i was going about 35 mph. i was able to pull over and turn my car off and on both times and make it home. now my check engine light is on and i'm not sure if i can even drive my car or if it will die on me again. *tr

As i was pulling out of my daughters school, my cruze engine warning lights came on "reduced engine power" "check stablitrak" "service" warnings came on as well. my car lost all engine power and i was almost rear ended by a dodge pickup, he was able to go up on the curb at the school and avoid an accident. glad there was no one hurt on the curb. i checked the internet, re; http://www.cruzetalk.com/forum/25-service-issues/10826-engine-power-reduction.html , this is a known issues for gm for quite sometime now. gm customer service themselves is participating in the discussion there. it is a known issue with the throttle body. the throttle controls the power in the power train yet gm won't cover the repairs under their power train warranty. this isn't safe and it is known. *tr

My daughter almost died driving it on monday. she was on route 1 in college park, md when the check engine/reduced power light came on and she could go no more than 2-3 mph. this is a very busy road, and she was almost in a potentially tragic accident. we had the car towed to sport chevrolet in silver spring, md (240-471-3190). our service advisor ([xxx]:) informed me this morning that the fix is a throttle body replacement which will cost $648. in going on the chevy forum website, this has happened multiple times to chevy cruze and malibu models. it's only a matter of time until someone dies. the throttle body is only covered up to 35k so i had to pay out of pocket. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Drove my car to work without incident however when i came out at 4pm the car would not start. the interior lights worked, radio and blue tooth worked when the key was inserted but car would not start. the vehicle was towed on jan 11th to al serra dealership. after 36 hours the dealership called to say it was the battery. the service manager was unable to explain how the radio, blue tooth phone power and interior lights were working. after having the battery replaced it was clear my vehicle was not operating properly. when driving on the expressway the interior lights dimmed and the battery voltage meter fluctuated from 15.3 to 12.3. the vehicle was not performing as it had prior to the battery change. i returned to the dealership stating the car was not functioning properly since the battery change. the dealership stated i would need to sign for a diagnostic fee of ~150.00 before they would look at the vehicle to inspect their work. i left with my vehicle and contacted gm customer complaint line to report the dealership was unwilling to stand behind their work unless i agreed to pay them ~150.00. about 10 days later i received a letter from gm regarding a special notice about the battery cable. i again returned to the dealership to have the battery cable checked/replaced. again al serra dealership stated i needed sign that i would pay a $100.00 fee if they did not find anything wrong with the battery cable. i stated "you did not fix my properly the first time. i feel you refused to stand behind your work and now i have a letter from gm regarding the battery cable. now you still want me to pay you to figure out what you did wrong the first time. i left with my vehicle - still not working properly. this needs to be a recall to stop gm dealerships from ripping off customers. *tr

I purchased a used 2011 chevy cruze lt three months ago. prier owner owned the vehicle for 3 years and hardly drove it. i was sitting at a light when the check engine light came on the "engine power reduced" flashed on my screen. the car slowed to 2 mph. i pulled over and turned off the vehicle. later i turned the car back on, check engine light came on. when i started to drive "service esp" flashed on my screen, then "service traction" flashed on my screen following by "engine power reduce." this happened to me 3 times in the same trip and is very dangerous. i thought maybe it was because of the snowy weather and freezing temperature? anyone have this happen? how can i fix it? help!? *tr

I was driving home from work in rush hour traffic. my speed dropped without warning from 35 mph to about 5 mph. i got a warning light indicating "engine power reduced" and the engine indicator light came on. i managed to pull car over to a side street and turned it off. i restarted it and the engine indicator light came on but i was able to make it home (about 12 miles). i called the service department at a local dealership to try to get some sort of idea of what was happening to my car. he suggested i call gm customer service and asked how many miles were on the car. i told him and he indicated the problem may be under a recall. needless to say 5 days later i just heard from the service center that the problem is the throttle body assembly and it will cost me about $600+taxes to repair. he stated i have heavy carbon build up and something about the induction service. my biggest problem outside of not having six hundred dollars to give is that in november i paid $300+ to have the water pump replaced and three weeks before that it was in the shop and three weeks prior to that it was in the shop. i am so disappointed and hurt by all these repairs. i ended up with a cruze because my kia was hit head on in a crash and the frame was cracked. i had no problems with my kia. *tr

Yes, i too had problems with my 2011 chevy cruze. i was very glad that nothing happened to me while i was driving the car, i was just sitting at an idle stage; when i had all the bells going off and it had told me that engine reduced power. i to had to go and get this fixed and again like everyone else it was the throttle body and fuel injection system; cost $460. not even a month later now i have no heat in the car and reading all the forums sounds like i am going to have to replace a water pump; joy for me. at first i really did love this car, but i find that the after the warranty goes seems like the car is falling apart. we should not be having these issues this early in the car's life. i also find it very bad poor customer service on gm's part that they are turning a blind eye to this. these parts need to be recalled asap, why is no one doing anything about this? *tr

Heater at first did not work; dealer removed air bubbles and topped off radiator. the dealer mechanics mentioned that typically the thermostats or temperature sensors have gone in the cruzes. 2 weeks later - sure enough, back at dealership - need 2 temperature sensors now. based on blog activities - it seems like these warrant a recall. *tr

Cooling system appears to be leaking and fumes of antifreeze are blowing through hvac system causing some occupants to become nauseous. dealer attempted to fix but there appears to be an issue with the design of the system. system also leaked on the hot engine causing "steam" to show from under the hood, we thought it was a fire but when the hood was opened it was steam from the antifreeze boiling on the engine. *tr

Was traveling on the highway with cruise control set at 67mph when suddenly the car just lost power and the engine quit running. all of the dashboard instruments lost power ,gas gauge registered empty, etc. although the radio did not go off. luckily this happened with very light traffic and was able to pull off in the emergency lane and put the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle with no trouble. continued our trip and did not happen again. after thinking about this i did notice the vehicle a few weeks ago losing some accelerating speed/power intermittently while traveling. not sure if that was an indicator or not. did call onstar approximately 5 hours after incident to diagnose and see if any error codes came up and they stated they showed nothing. this is my daughters vehicle and i fear that if she is traveling in heavy traffic and this happens again that this could cause a sever accident. *js

Vehicle has had water pump replaced earlier this year under warranty - and had the turbo charger replaced last week under warranty. not covered under warranty last week was a "leaking" battery. since battery was original - i felt it was worth replacing. yesterday, while driving to work, the check engine light came on and the heater stopped working. today - the dealer calls me and states that they need to replace a hose and outlet. there was no leak yesterday - and they state that there is a leak and this is the reason. they want $250 for repairs. the hose was fine yesterday - and the outlet should have been replaced with the water pump (actually they should have replaced the hose at that time also). no response from gm quality care. over $500 in the last two weeks - and i am not certain that this issue is over. it has also had two computers replaced when i first got it. *tr

The vehicle would not shift out of park nor remove the key. the wheel was locked as well as the shift lever. the car would turn on however would not move. there was no lights in the vehicle. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruz. the contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a sudden increased of engine rpms as the engine hesitated to accelerate and jerked into gear without warning. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the failure was not duplicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,500. the vin was unavailable.

Was driving the cruze, a message flushed in screen "ac turned off due to high engine temp" ac was not on, heat was not working, turned off blower, the screen changed to engine overheated idle engine, then changes to partial power loss and the car became sluggish, i had to continue driving until a safe place was available to pull off, then the reactions control light started blinking and my oil life indicator told me to change oil before returning to the partial power loss message. i towed to dealer. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. while driving 65 mph, the vehicle started jerking and the contact was unable to shift gears. the engine stalled and was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000.

I was pulling out of a gas station, use to my normal power and almost got hit because my car wouldn't go over 15mph floored. then looked down and saw a engine power is reduced, service stabili trak and service traction control. so i took to a mechanic he hooked it up and the code showed up as my throttle body position sensor. they replaced it and drove it and it drove fine for about two weeks. i was just going down the road then all of a sudden my car did the same thing. i lost power so fast that i about got rear ended. took it back to the body shop and showed the same code so they replaced the part again. and two days after all this my car is doing this again. this is extremely dangerous at how it looses engine power. it looses it so fast that someone can get hurt extremely bad. *tr

Engine shaking violently while idling. stabiltrak warning on. acting like it was going to die. scared it would die while in traffic. *tr

Oil leakage on top of engine, smell of burning oil, loud sound of vehicle, car misfires. *tr

Engine coolant smell inside cabin. heat must be on. the vapors are strong enough to irritate the eyes and throat. this vehicle was purchased during summer and smell started when it turned cold and has continued

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. while driving 65-70 mph, the accelerator pedal extended to the floorboard when it was depressed and the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. additionally, while the vehicle was at a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle only accelerated to 5 mph. the dealer stated that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that the transmission was hot and the engine warning indicator illuminated. the dealer stated that the failure was normal wear and tear. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 139,200.

While driving the ac blows cold air through the top vents but hot air from the bottom vent on the driver side. the area on the center console that touches the driver's leg becomes hot to touch and extremely uncomfortable while driving for more than 1 hour. this area should not be this hot and so far no one has been able to identify the reason for the overheating of the center console area. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the service traction control, service stability tract, engine, and abs warning lights illuminated independently. also, the vehicle decelerated to 19 mph. the contact maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road where the vehicle stalled. the contact was not able to get the vehicle restarted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 68,545.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the tires started shaking and the vehicle stalled. the contact restarted the vehicle and after 10 seconds the failure recurred. the contact mentioned that the check engine light and service power steering message illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

Tl* the contact owns 2011 chevrolet cruise. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, an unknown warning light illuminated as the engine overheated. the failure occurred while the contact was shutting off the air conditioner, which caused the front window to become fogged. the failure occurred on one occasion. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or mechanic. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was 21,000.

This exact same thing has happened 2 times. while driving normally 'service esp' and 'service traction control' warnings come on along with the engine light and the 'stabilitrak' light. the engine remains running but does not supply power to the wheels resulting in a total loss of power to the car. the first time it happened, i took it to a certified chevy dealer who told me it was a battery issue and replaced the battery. didn't work. happened again within a week. this situation is very unsafe as the vehicle could be stuck powerless in the middle of a turn or a number of other dangerous situation. the car is not on gm's recall list for any of the ongoing recall issues. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where no diagnosis or repairs were made. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 43,749 and the current was unknown.

While driving home noticed that the temp gauge was moving and then as i slowed in traffic the gauge went from cool to hot within seconds. warning came up on dash that ac was being powered off due to overheating and then suddenly it was gone and the ac came back on and the gauge dropped. within 10 minutes the same warning happened again but the temperature gauge did not move and the check engine light came on. ended up being the water pump which was covered under warranty. *tr

The turbocharger, due to a faulty bearing as i am being told by a certified mechanic has caused the blade inside the turbocharger to become unstable causing it slam against the parts inside the charger, thus creating a loud what i can only describe as putting a pen in a metal fan blade while it is spinning. i have the power-train warranty still on the car, but i have been reading online in public forums where this becoming a common issue for this vehicle between the mileage ranges of 30-60 thousand. please look into this issue my wife was driving the car at the time when it initially started making the noise at about 60 mph on the interstate with our two children in the car. thankfully she was nearly home where we have the car checked out and it was determined to be the turbocharger. *tr

The car has been losing power over the past few months while under warranty. i kept taking it back to the chevy dealership and they said nothing was wrong and reset the light. however now the car will not barely go, i have power but its forced and its as if i have to push the car up the hills to go. i live in pennsylvania so this is not an ideal situation, but i have had my oil changed regularly every 3,000 miles although other issues have occurred with the car like the cooling system and the temp gage this time i have had it checked professionally with an outside consult rather than going to the dealership and they stated that it is my turbo it doesn't work and probably hasn't worked properly on my car. i have been on several forums for chevy cruzes and it seems like there are lots of people with this issue as well. *tr

The 2011 cruze should be taken off the market. this car has caused me to almost crash 10 times in the past month that i have had it. there has to be a defect with the acceleration of the car. when i merge on to the interstate and try and speed up the car stalls out and has a hard time shifting. thousands of others have complained about the same issue. this is a hazard to vehichle owners as well as other motorist. when will something be done about this? gm should have to fix these units. http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2011/chevrolet/cruze/power_train/problem.aspx. *tr

It said service esp.

While cruising along the highway at 65 mph, suddenly the engine stalls as if all the fuel had stopped going to it. after a few seconds of stall and slowing down while pressing on the gas all the time, it suddenly began picking up speed again. however, there was an extremely large cloud of smoke coming out the rear of the car. this occurred 4-5 more times before i arrived at home. i took it to the dealer the next business day. after several days the dealer reported the problem would be covered by warranty. three weeks later i get the car back from the dealer who reported the engine had "bad pistons". apparently there had been a notice to dealers regarding this problem and how to fix it. the dealer did provide a new loaner malibu while repairing my car. at 40,000 miles and have to have the engine rebuilt does not enhance confidence in the new gm. *tr

On this date we scheduled a oil change with a dealer who has performed all maintenance, recalls and repairs since the purchase of our new car. we where notified that the car was ready for pick up that morning as we arrived we paid our invoice, the consultant made us aware that the engine light came on (first time since new?) this consultant did not document this engine light to our records. well, the engine light kept going off and on during the next 10k miles (2 oil change later, out of warranty, my fault) i had this check engine light diagnosed by our dealer and they had the codes and then further tried to correct the problem. they wanted $800.00 to install a new air intake manifold and throttle body then continue to test for more problems with no guarantee of repair. i could not afford the repair and declined the fix. the other problem surrounding this car since april 21, 2014 was that the fuel gauge would not show full after fill up and would move up and down the scale on the gauge. the ac would come on at strange times when running the heater? well any ways that was 7 hours at the dealer and made for a long day. i had to return to pick up the cover they forgot to install over the spark plugs, and complained about the leather sets being soaking wet with water and that the car has had these problems since april 2014 under warranty, the dealer did not want to help us? i purchased this car from them and purchased the 35k oil change extended warranty and bumper to bumper warranty? this dealer did all ! the maintenance, recalls and repairs. i'm glad we didn't go over the 1000 foot cliff at yellowstone when the brakes decided not to work (we learned later of the brake recall) they have a excuse for every question you ask, no reports on the all point inspection on our brakes and tires, password problem they say? i'm ready to buy a truck elsewhere now, poor gm an chevy. *tr

I purchased the 2011 chevy cruze with approx 55 k. when i drove the car at the lot everything seemed to be in good working order. the next day i kept hearing a surge like sound in the engine and when the accelerator was pushed the car would not gain any speed or power. i contacted the dealer and explained what was going on with the car and was told that this was common in the chevy cruzes because of the engine size and that why the car is able to get such great gas mileage. i could not stand the noise any longer march 19, 2014 i took the car to the dealers service department where car was purchased. i informed them of the issues i was having with the surging sound and the loss of speed & power. the next day informed me they could not hear any surging sound and only found 1 problem leaking thermostat. i was referred to the gm dealer to get fixed under the powertrain warranty. it has not even been a full year since i purchased this car. on april 7th 2014 i was driving on the freeway during rush hour and all of sudden i hear a dinging sound all the engine lights came on, along with the hazards lights and the car began to lose power, the center panel kept reading transmission hot idle engine. i had not had any other previous warnings, all the gauges appeared to be normal with no sign of over heating. i contacted the chevy dealer and took the car down right away.explained to them what happened and the issues the diagnoses that was given from the service dept where car was purchased. the next day the chevy dealer contacted me and said they had replace the water pump. also the transmission had burnt oil and needs to be flushed and it was not covered under the warranty. they too could not find anything else wrong as to why transmission is running hot,not even with the surging sound and lose of power. april 11th 2014 had the same issues again. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that while traveling 40 mph, the vehicle decreased in acceleration and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was restarted and the failure persisted. the failure occurred on several occasions. the vehicle was diagnosed by a private mechanic and it was advised that the vacuum switch needed be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 47,000.

Since i first purchased my 2011 cruze, i have experienced hesitations in the automatic transmission changing between second and third gear (approximately between 35-40 mph). in the last month, the hesitations happen every time i start from a stationary position. some of the hesitations are more pronounced (i.e., an actual lurching of the vehicle). there have also been occurrences of the car not responding properly to pressing the acceleration pedal. i found this very alarming, as it happened during rush hour traffic. *tr

While driving on the highway my "engine power reduced","service traction control", and "service stabilitrak" warning notices appeared. frantically i pulled over on the up coming exit ramp, even though the engine would not go over 5 mph with my gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor, and was fortunate not to be hit with my 3 children in the car. after doing my research , i turned off the car let it rest and continued driving only for it to happen 4 more times with in 25 minutes. this has also happened 3 other times throughout the week! there seems to be no answer from the dealership even though i took pictures of the warning lights and provided many other exactly similar complaints all across the country! i will not drive this car and especially not with my children in it i have just wasted 16k of my money ! why is there not a solution for this issue yet and if there is why does it take such extreme remedies to find the solution. this is a recall material situation! i would like someone to call me in regards to this situation, i feel there is no excuse my children and i could have died tonight ! *tr

Turned on car in the morning and received 2 messages of "engine power reduced", "service stabili-trac", service traction control" as well as a check engine light. engine would not go above 1500 rpm's. took it into dealer and was told that i had a transmission leak and because they didn't have time they wanted me to reschedule for the following week. problem continued to happen and on my way in to work on 02/11/14 the problem happened two times in the morning and was forced to put car in park turn off engine and restart. then happens 3 times once on a very busy highway into downtown denver and twice in downtown. called dealership and was told that i needed to bring it in. was told that it was the "throttle body" which is a $450.00 fix not covered under power train warranty . with so many people having this problem and almost being hit every time it happens due to it happening abruptly when cold it is a clear safety issue and needs to be recalled. i sense that if they don't there will be a class action law suite in their future. *tr

While parked in a parking lot waiting for the snowy conditions to slow down, i waited about 15 minutes with my car on idle. i pulled out of the parking spot to go to my destination. as i was on drive, my car slowed down to 5 mph and couldn't accelerate, message pulled up on my screen saying "engine power is reduced". took it to the dealership and quoted me $500 to fix the valve body system. i've read on a forum that this is a common problem for this model. *tr

My 2011 chevy cruze ltz went in to reduced engine power mode and said to service stabilitrak and traction control. this happened in below freezing temperatures with frozen precipitation on the ground. research online indicates this is a common problem with chevy cruze vehicles. the car was drive able after powering down for a few seconds, but a few miles down the road it would go into reduced engine power mode again. this has happened multiple times over the last week. likely throttle body problem. *tr

I can smell a burning coolant type smell inside the cabin of the vehicle. it does not happen all the time. it leaves a film on the windows. when it happens it burns my nose and eyes. i have to roll down the windows to get fresh air. i consider this a health issue, inhaling these fumes. i took the car to the dealership three times. once they replaced a transmission coolant connector, that didn't solve the problem, and twice they said they couldn't find a problem. i see that there have been many complaints about this. this happens in all situations, moving or standing still. the following i copied from a forum online. this person had the same problem: in the course of that repair the techs detected an extreme amount of lubricant on the inner dash box where the vent doors and controls are located. the tech removed some of it and heated it up and it smelled just like dexcool. this grease is glycol based hence the similarity to coolant when heated. the continuous heating and cooling of the grease resulted in a breakdown of it and the smell only got worse. the techs removed all of the excess grease and replaced with another lubricant which was a type of brake lube good to 400f. they then added a peppermint extract to the coolant fluid to ensure that if there was a coolant leak of any kind the odor would be immediately discernable from any other automotive odor. i ran the heat and defrost heavy with no issues to report. this fix is not easy as the entire dash needs to be removed, but a good tech can do it and resolve this issue. if you need any further assistance or information please let me know. i would encourage anyone experiencing this problem to contact the dealer and have them contact gm to get your vehicle fixed.

While driving at no specific speed the car alerts and says check engine, reduced engine speed, and check stabilizer traction control. the engine then powers down and will not accelerate. i was recently driving and this happened, to avoid an accident i ended up in a ditch and had to be towed out. i had the car repaired which was costly and was not covered under the power train warranty chevy offers. i feel that this is a very dangerous defect on the car and should be addressed as a recall, due to the first time i tried to have the car repaired i was told it was gonna be 4-6 weeks to wait on the part because they were on back order because they have had quite a few cars with the same problem. when i addressed this issue with chevy they had no concern that a car losing power while traveling was no big deal. i was nearly rear ended by a semi-truck and was forced into a ditch. *tr

my children & i almost didn't make it home! was experiencing issues with the heat not heating up the car on tuesday and on yesterday, i was driving north on the 394 expressway and received an error message on my dashboard of "a/c shut off due to high temperatures" so i turned the heat off and the gauge slowed moved back down. however, after driving a short distance further the temperature gauge had moved all the way to the "red" line and i receive the error message to "shut the engine down" because of overheating. i immediately pulled and slowly the gauge moved back to the normal position. i called the dealership that worked on my car less than 3 weeks ago and the service advisor informed me that it may be another glitch but he wanted to ensure that all of my fluids were fine and since i wasn't very far from the dealership to bring the car in (even though their service dept was closing in about 20 mins). after looking at the car, the service advisor informed that just about all of the coolant ran out and there was probably an issue with the water pump. i was shocked, bothered & frustrated because it had been less than a month that i just had to have this car worked on. fortunately, the water pump didn't cost me anything due to it still being under warranty but that still doesn't change the fact that i'm a very dissatisfied customer. *tr

Driving home from work on busy tollway, after it snowed all of a sudden my service stabilitrak-reduced engine power lights came on. the car cut to 20 miles per hour.i couldn't go any faster and nowhere to pull over since the tollway was under construction.got off the tollway called the dealer to take it in.the chevy dealer told me to shut the car off wait 5 min. it will reset. ok it did, took it the next day to chevy, they cant find anything wrong, took it home. went to work 3 days later it did it again i brought it back to chevy still cant find out what is wrong.this car has continued to do this 15 more times.the reason why i am telling you this is because there is a problem with these cars there have been more chevy cruzes with the same problem.i am afraid to drive this car i have borrowed a car to get to work, the first time this happened to me on the tollway i thought my life was over it could have caused a serious accident im glad im here to tell someone about my problem and hope someone takes some action with it. *tr

On 12/12/13 my problems with my 2011 chevy cruze began. the engine began making a humming noise, the check engine light would come on intermittently, it began to randomly lose power and overheat. on 12/20/13 3-way chevrolet replaced the cam phase and water pump. on 01/01/14, the vehicle began making the same humming noise but louder and had a consistent loss of power. on 01/08/14, 3-way replaced the turbo charger. i picked up the vehicle on 01/09/14 and within 1 hour the check engine light came back on. i took the vehicle back to 3-way on 01/10/2014 and did not get the vehicle back until 02/20/2014. during that time, the cylinder head and valves were replaced, pistons and rings were replaced, injectors and coils were swapped from another vehicle and the car still had misfire. a gm engineer was brought in and the turbo charger was replaced again and the oil feed line was plugged. on 02/21/14, i noticed fluid in my driveway. the car is leaking something and the power is still not consistent. i contacted 3-way late friday and am waiting for a call back. i have be inconvenienced beyond words, the vehicle is unsafe and i want gm to purchase the car back. *tr

Vehicle shutdown while driving on highway, several times. the car electric turns off and or flashes, stabiltrak lights come on and flashes, check engine flashing, car completely shuts down, steering is electronic or motor powered and is hard to use, transmission jerks before shutdown and breaks don't work very well. ran over curb and off the road to avoid colliding with other vehicles. picture, im driving on a highway at night doing 65 or so, all power goes out, its dark, other cars can not see me well, they are swerving and im swerving. this happened first around 20k and has happened on several occasions after. no corrections offered by gm under warranty, complaints were completely ignored, until murdock chevy in manhattan ks. they are currently trying to get it fixed and gave me a loner car, all other servicing dealers refused a loaner car, and told me its fixed each time. car still has the problems listed and no solution is given from gm or chevy to fix this deadly situation. also damage to the car from an engine overheat or dashboard overheat at the same time damaging electric, windshield, radio, gauges and dash compartment lever. extreme heat, burning smell inside. floorboard by the feet melts carpet and burns feet, all at the same time, on drives of 30 minutes or more. *tr

Radio flashes on and off an instrument cluster is flashing warning light. engine runs rough sometimes and ac blower motor turned on and off sometimes and turn signal indicator continue flashing but does not make it usual but clicking and then resumes clicking noise. *js

Sudden loss of engine power. the first occurrence happened exiting a fast moving expressway. the engine suddenly stopped power and the car was reduced to less than 5 miles an hour. the car was pulled to the shoulder and turned off. eventually after restarting the car the engine went to full power and the car reached its destination. there was some luck involved as traffic was light. since, the loss of power has happened five more times. at least one occurrence was very dangerous - pulling from a stop sign onto a busy road. i feel that this issue makes the cruze one of the most dangerous cars on the road. the issue happens without warning and can happen at 65 miles an hour or from a stop. i know that i am not the only person with this issue and i am upset that this has not been addressed by chevrolet. thanks for the opportunity to voice my concern and hopefully help others. *tr
