We have classified the 118 complaints from 2015 Cadillac SRX about EXTERIOR LIGHTING into the following categories.
Dim headlights are defective. i can barely see to drive at night. there are groups on facebook of numbers of people with the same complaint. please investigate this matter before someone is killed.
I twice complained to dealership that the lights were not illuminating and i had to drive with my brights on. twice they did nothing. i was pulled over by a police officer who told me he thought i had only my fog lights on and not head lights. this car does not have fog lights and the officer was shocked that the cadillac had such a poor set of headlights. i returned to the dealership who handled it in a terribly u.n. professional way and told me the headlights are not covered under extended warranty. i reminded them that when i first started the complaints the original manufacture warranty was in place. a sales person from the dealership suggested that i should buy a different cadillac to fix this issue. it's appaling to me to find a lack of customer service from cadillac i bought a cadillac to support 'buy american' - i could not be more disappointed. my friend drives a lexus and is constantly telling me how great their customer service is. to say that am incredibly disappointed in cadillac is an understatement. i write this as i wait to hear from cadillac. i brought my car there and asked them to drive it at night- it's time for it to be inspected. let's see if they are willing to put their name on an inspection. i have a beautiful cadillac that is not safe to drive in the winter months past 4:30 n the afternoon. this is unacceptable. the lights do not illuminate. in order to see the road i have to drive with 'brights on' - i have even pulled onto the shoulder of the road so i can get out and check if the lights are on. this is so unsafe. i have to keep up with other traffic at night so i can use their headlight illumination as a way to not have to drive with my brights on - i do not want to cause unsafe situation for other motorists by driving with my brights on.
Vehicle's low beams are extremely dim making operation difficult. illumination at the 115 ft distance is questionable. vehicle is a hazard to operate for self & others after dusk and before dawn.
When i am driving in the dark both of my headlights are extremely dim especially on the interstate. i am unable to see short distances in front of me and it has become a safety issue. i have had the bulbs replaced twice with different types of bulbs and it did not help at all.
My 2015 cadillac srx lighting is too dim to drive at night. i have to rely on other drivers lights to have a good view of the road. if there are no other drivers near me, i need to use my bright lights as a safety precaution. i have replaced the light bulbs but that did not fix the issue. in reading various online forums, there are a lot of other owners with the same issue. i contacted the dealership and they quoted me $2,000 to fix it but clearly this should be a recall. the issue started approximately 1 year ago. i have been patiently waiting for a recall. this is a very dangerous issue and i fear my life may be in danger as a result of it. i try to only drive at night when it's absolutely necessary.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 cadillac srx. while driving at night with the low beam headlights activated, the illumination was extremely dim and caused a visibility hazard. the cause of the failure was not determined. sterling mccall cadillac (10422 sw freeway, houston, tx) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 25,000.*jb
Just bought this vehicle. low beams are so dim it is hard to watch for deer. making me uneasy trying to drive at night.
The headlights on my srx are so dim that i cannot see to drive after dark. after searching the internet it seems this is a very common issue that cadillac has not addressed. we are now working with a mechanic to order aftermarket replacements since changing the entire headlight assembly. replacing the headlight bulbs over the past weekend did nothing to improve the light put out by the headlights. i also visited the body shop that made a minor repair to the car in dec 2018 thinking the headlights were misaligned and was told the driver side light was significantly dim compared to the passenger side. the issue with the headlights is for the low beams and not the high beams. this issue can be seen while parked or driving on the highway, during turns as well

The low beam headlights are so dim that they do not provide sufficient light for night driving.

The headlights are extremely dim, i have almost wrecked because i was unable to see. i have replaced the bulbs with the xd1 extra bright and did not even make a difference. this is a dangerous car to drive at night and i can't believe cadillac refuses to make this right.
There seems to be no fix for low beams ????
I purchased the vehicle in july of 2018 and noticed the headlights seemed dim. thought maybe i was just still adjusting to new car. went on highway early in the morning one day before sunup and really could not see.. thought the headlights were off. pulled over and checked. they were on but just very dim. dealer said it would cost around $1800. after i sent them copies of articles i had read about these lawsuits by other people, they agreed to replace headlights for free. my concern is it will not work or it will just happen again in time... as some others have indicated. they should fix the problem.
We purchased this car in october 2018. a few days later we were driving home at night. i turned on the low beam headlights and told my wife i could barely see any light. a few moments later i almost drove into a ditch. we called the dealer the next day. despite having a remaining bumper to bumper warranty, we were required to pay $208.81 for replacement bulbs, which they said were not covered under warranty. they are barely brighter than the ones they replaced. this is astonishing that a leading us manufacturer has elected to play russian roulette with its customers lives. consider this message a safety complaint against this manufacturer and a promise to join the class action suit that is now starting in florida. i should be reimbursed the $208.81 and both headlight assemblies replaced with redesigned ones. simply replacing small bulbs again will not suffice. cadillac and gm need to be held accountable. if we are injured or killed because of the very poor output of these low beam headlights i will chase the souls of all those at cadillac and gm beyond the depths of hell forever. there is no excuse for equipment such as this, and no excuse for not repairing it properly.
Front headlights are so dim they appear to be turned off. the car is not drivable at night. the car is in covered parking with 43,000 miles. this was discovered while night driving and the only way to see was to use bright beams. independent mechanic says this is defect. gm not acknowledging via recall but see all on internet across country with same problem on this car years 2010-2015. this should be recalled before someone is killed.
Headlights are extremely dim, it is impossible to drive when it is dark. i attempted to this morning as i needed to come in to work early and nearly wrecked. i had to pull over off the freeway and wait for daylight. i knew they were dim and because of that try to never drive at night but it is ridiculous that i own a vehicle i am unable to drive at dark.
The headlights on my srx became very dim very quickly. after doing some research of my own, it appears this is a manufacturers defect. i took it to my local cadillac dealership on 10/1. they stated they didn't know exactly what the problem was, but somehow the lens was bad. was going to cost $1600+ to repair. i had to wait to do that, but in the meantime, started doing my own research. i found a few class action lawsuits have been filed for this very problem. i have contacted my dealership again. my warranty for that ran out at 50,275 miles. the problem was there prior to that mileage. i honestly thought my eyes were starting to go bad at night, but my family noticed it too when we were all driving together one evening, so i made an appointment to have it checked out. i am very upset that cadillac isn't doing something about this. the car is unsafe to drive at night. at this point, if i get it fixed, they will replace it with the same headlights, as they haven't made any changes to the design of the piece from what i can tell. so, the problem will occur again. this is a major safety issue. cadillac/gm really needs to step up and take care of this.the car can not be driven at night under these conditions.
Headlights are dim. it's hard to drive and see while driving at night. i've almost got into some really bad car accidents because cars have pulled out right in front of me because my headlights are so dim. i should not have to use my brights all the time at night. on coming traffic flash me because they are on.
The low beam headlights have condensation and are so dim i can't drive at night. i took my car to the dealership and they told me it's about a $2000.00 repair for a car that is 4 years old. that seemed ridiculous so my husband and i began searching and found that many srx drivers are having this same issue. i can see when the lights are on high beam but others flash me because they are too bright, when i drive on low beam at night people pull out in front of me and i can barely see the road.
My headlights are very dim , so dim i thought the left one was out completely. my headlights are discolored with condensation. i was unable to drive my vehicle at night coming home from work at night without using my high beam lights. i took my car to plaza cadillac in leesburg, fl. they replaced both headlights with new ones. i am pleased that they acknowledged the headlight defect and failure but am reporting it because it needs to be a recall. i have read of others that are being given the run around and being charged for a flaw that is dangerous and gm should own up to and replace faulty headlights. i am the original owner of my cadillac, purchased new from dealership.
Low beam lighting gives you no visibility while driving in the dark. i have to use the high beams and blind the oncoming traffic. this is a safety issue for both me and oncoming drivers. me, because i would wreck using my low beams and oncoming vehicles could wreck when i use my high beams blinding them. i am told this is because of the malfunction of the seal around the lights.....it lets moisture in. i have had the bulbs replaced, but it did not help the situation. please do a recall nation wide for this, not just for florida or new york, before someone is badly hurt or killed and a lawsuit is filed.
Low beams so dim you can't see at night. dealer reported yes it is a problem, you will have to replace entire headlight with non dealer led headlight to resolve. tried to send me to his sons shop to resolve problem. i have replaced the bulbs with new bulbs which did not resolve. i have to drive with high beams to see at night. this is a major safety issue. purchased car in 2018 and after researching problem see it is a problem with all srx not just mine. cadillac dealer won't repair/replace or fix problem.
Add another cadillac srx to the list, our 2015 srx has very dim low beam head lights..... i have been told and looked up for myself, that cadillac and the app warranty folks will not stand behind the head light assemblies; which app should not have to stand behind a factory faulty head light assembly.... how in the world can so many folks have a safety issue with these extremely dim lights and nothing gets done.... on top of that if you pay out of your pocket to replace the assemblies your told that the new fixtures have not changed and will likely do the same thing in short order.... it is sad when the dealers even say that the fixtures are junk.... this is no way to promote cadillac by telling folks to go pound sand instead of fixing a known issue with the reflector inside the fixtures..... it is extremely unsafe to drive our vehicle at night with lights so dim.... i am considering purchasing after market fixtures and hope for the best.... some standard cadillac hold them self too..... these folks should be embarrassed.... someone please do something about these head light assemblies before folks get killed... a simple search will show a large number of folks that have this same issue..... i have tried the led lights bulbs, the brightest normal bulbs available with still no luck.... i guess after market fixtures are the only choice.... this is terrible, because the rest of the car is a great car.......
Low beam lights are not functioning at appropriate levels to see safely. took the car to scranton gmc/chevy in vernon, ct and service department had it for a day, and returned it saying they found nothing wrong with the headlights but had no paperwork for me to sign or have. they also told me that they had called gm in regards to this. knowing there are already class action suits out there and them not even writing this up leads me to believe they are attempting to suppress the reporting of this issue. i have trouble seeing with my low beams, and it is definitely not safe.
Aug 2018 i noticed my low beam lights were barely visible, like i was driving in the dark with no lights on. i switched to high beams and could see very good, but then switched back to low beam and it was still the same....very poor lighting. i had the bulbs changed out in oct 2018 for $200, but this did not fix the problem. i had the relay switch replaced, but this did not fix the problem. i have had situations where objects or people were on the side of the road, but i did not see them until the last second when i was right there at them because of the poor lighting. i cannot continuously drive with my high beams on at night just to see where i am going. this is a bad safety issue on one of the top of the line vehicles....low beams could cause me to wreck, hitting someone or something because of poor lighting and high beams makes me blind the oncoming traffic causing them to wreck hitting someone or something. i am told that the headlight assembly needs replacing because of the poor seal quality letting moisture in causing the faulty low lighting. there should be a recall on this because this is a manufacturer problem/error. i should not have to pay $1500 to fix this when i did nothing to cause it. cadillac/gm needs to step up to the plate and recall this defect they created and correct the problem before someone is accidentally hurt or killed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 cadillac srx. the contact stated that during evening hours there was poor to no visibility with the day time running lights. the dealer courtesy chevrolet in broussard (1345 evangeline thruway, broussard, la 70518, (337) 347-8984) was notified of the failure and indicated that due to the cloudiness of the lens that the head lamp assemblies needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired as the contact felt the failure was a manufacturer defect with the lens, light fixture, an internal electrical problem which should have a recall campaign. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
Headlights are very dim and you can hardly see using the dim lights. upon looking on line there are many lawsuits for this problem. gm wants over $1,500 to fix this issue with the lights going very dim when not on bright. it appears the light assembly lets moisture accumulate because of poor seals that burns the led bulb out.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 cadillac srx. the contact stated that the low beam headlights were very dim and failed to provide adequate lighting. the failure prevented clear visibility while driving; therefore, the high beam headlights had to be activated. the vehicle was taken to pikerton chevrolet (925 north electric road, salem, virginia 24153, (800) 813-5960), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer stated that nothing could be done to correct the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 21,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 cadillac srx. while driving after dusk, the headlamps failed to adequately illuminate the roadway. the contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with an auto dimming feature. the vehicle was taken to boyd chevrolet cadillac buick (located at 1875 spartanburg hwy, hendersonville, nc 28792, (828) 693-3461) and the contact was advised to adjust the headlamps upwards to remedy the failure. the contact stated that the adjustment failed to remedy the failure and potentially made it worse. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Headlight low beams are very dim. they are so dim it is very difficult to even see they're on when driving. it is extremely difficult to see in front of you when in operation. very dangerous, as i cannot see well in low beam.
I noticed that the headlights on my 2015 cadillac srx became extremely dim around july of 2018. it is very hard to see well when driving at night, and it is a hazard!! i mentioned the problem with the lights being dim when i went in for an oil change at the dealership, but i was told there was nothing they could do to fix the problem. at the next oil change, i again complained about the dim light problem. the dealership replaced the headlights with new cadillac bulbs (under warranty), but that did not fix the problem. then, ater more complaining to the dealership, i contacted cadillac. cadillac suggested that the dealership change the cadillac bulbs (no longer under warranty) with after market bulbs. those bulbs also did not fix the problem!!! i am very unhappy, and am still driving around with dangerously dim lights!!!
I have noticed for the past 3 months of the 3 years i have owned the 2015 cadillac srx that the low beam head lamps are to dim to drive at night. this is a serve safety issue. the headlamps throw now recognizable light on the road. the lights are on and have no directional issues. calls to multiple gm dealerships and the gm customer service were met with the response of no knowledge of any issues or like complaints. my vehicle showed now evidence of plastic lens degradation, nor yellowing, nor condensation. multiple forums report the problem with no solution.
Low beam lights are dangerously dim and low. they do not project hardly any light on the road. apparently many many owners are having this problem and gm is failing to address it. they need to figure out how to fix it before someone is killed because they are not seen at night!
Low beam headlights are extremely dim and virtually worthless at night. the round center lens looks cloudy. the problem is not with the clear outer plastic covering.
Low beams are very low to almost non existent. the bulbs were changed out to no avail it is extremely dangerous to driver at night not only to me the driver but to all other vehicle on the road.
The headlights are dim, the light bulbs have been changed out. the lights are so low there is low visibility.
Head lights when on seem to go dim. it is a known problem, thousands of vehicles are affected. moving or standing still, the low beams do not adeguately illuminate the road in front of you. high beams are fine, in my case it is the right headlight. some people have the left one or both are dim. cadillac wants to charge $1,500 to fix something that is poorly engineered.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 cadillac srx. the contact stated that the headlights were dim and provided poor visibility. the vehicle was taken to chuck nash of san marcos (3209 i-35, san marcos, tx 78666, (512) 253-8815) where a new cruise control and back-up light were installed; however, the headlights were not diagnosed or repaired because there was no recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 47,276. the vin was invalid.
We just bought this car wednesday at donahoo chevrolet in ft payne, alabama. we went out to eat monday night and the headlights seemed to be very dim as if they were not even on,, could barely see how to drive. had to drive with the lights on bright. this is very dangerous. i called the dealer tuesday and have not received any response.
The dim lights do not give off enough light at night i have had to pull over several times thinking i was going off the road. i avoid driving at night and avoid having my grandbaby in the car at night for fear of a deadly crash. when i have to drive at night i have to use brights. this is going to get me a ticket someday unless someone gets mad enough they shoot me on the highway. something needs to be done please.
Please help me! i can't see to drive my 2015 cadillac srx at night due to the dangerously dim headlights. i nearly got killed on july 14. i was on the highway after dark, i literally could not see anything, it was like driving with the headlights off. so, i slowed the car to 35mph just so i could see to find my exit off the highway. i used my bright lights as much as i could, but i was blinding the drivers coming towards me. after purchasing this 2015 cadillac srx in december 2017, i noticed the dim headlights. after returning from vacation in march 2018, i took the car to my local dealer for service. i was told they installed a different headlight assembly but saw no improvement, so they put the old headlights back in. however, they thought they were brighter just from being cleaned. in june, the headlights were getting worse, so i returned to the dealership. i was told a gm representative was there that day, they would speak with him about the problem, then call me back to schedule another appointment. today, july 16 i had not received a call, so i called them. i have another appointment scheduled for monday, july 23. i was told this is their last ditch effort in trying to fix the headlights. i cannot drive the car after dark period. i don't know what to do, please help!
Headlights are so dim i cannot see the road at night. i tried to replace the original bulbs with led lights and while it helped a little i still cannot see.
Passenger head light very dim i have replaced the bulb but did not fix the problem very difficult to drive at night there was or is a class action lawsuit i would like for gm to fix this problem since they are aware any help would be appreciated. *tr consumer stated 2 emails were sent regarding passenger side heald light (very dim). *jb
The headlights do not shine brightly enough. on a dark stretch of highway one may only see 15-20 feet in front of the vehicle and this is dangerous, it is always necessary to drive with the bright lights on. the dealer checked out the vehicle and says that they are normal, but that is simply not possible. i have read on the internet of several other customer complaints and at least one lawsuit in progress.
The headlamp lighting on this vehicle is totally inadequate. when driving at night it is necessary to leave the lights on bright constantly; when on dim the lighting is absolutely not sufficient to provide safety. we have had to completely stop driving this car at night due to this situation. this issue is compounded when attempting to drive in the rain, even a light rain. we have more than once had to pull off the road and wait for better conditionse starting up again. this is not acceptable performance in a modern vehicle. i have reported this both to the dealer and cadillac and have not been given an appropriate solution. if i replace the entire system it will be replaced with an identical one.
Headlights are dangerously dim. vehicle is not safe to drive at night.
Headlights are dangerously dim. they don't light up the road unless you have the high beams on. i've seen 100's of complaints about this. quoted $1,400 to repair. this needs to be recalled as a major safety hazard.
Got in vehicle on the evening of december 6,2017 it was raining could not see driving. it was if my headlights were off. had to drive my vehicle with lights on high beam which was not very much better. there is a serious problem with headlights on the cadillac 2015 srx vehicle. i pulled off the road and checked vehicle to make sure my headlights were not blown out which they were not. i am having to drive at night with my headlights on high beam.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 cadillac srx. while the contact was driving after dusk, the headlights were dim and were insufficient for driving at night. the vehicle was taken to all star autoplex (located at 1216 e. palestine avenue, palestine, tx 75801) and the headlamps were replaced; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 35,000. the vin was not available. *tt*jb
