Even the slightest bump in the road sends the vehicle swerving. the whole car rattles. when trying to accelerate it hesitates before going, same with decelerating. even when in residential areas and flat surfaces.
I bought the srx used in september and since then i have had one issue after another. if i accelerate too quickly my transmission, (i think), has a very loud ratcheting/popping sound. my service suspension system error msg comes on every time i start my vehicle. i have read that this could be related to the air compressor not working or faulty sensors. my service stability system error msg also comes on every time i start my vehicle. this seems to cause the traction control feature to mess up, which then on occasion when i press my brakes, even slightly, my brakes lock up and i skid for just a second. my power steering fluid seems to continually leak or the pump is bad. i have refilled my resovoir many times and i constantly have a very loud "whining" sound. my power steering system also seems to go out occasionally and my vehicle is very difficult to turn.
I own a 2004 cadillac srx with only 75,000 miles on it and the steering gear (rack-in-pinion) has to be replaced now for the 2nd time. the first time it had to be replaced was after the car just went out of warranty with only 57,000 miles on it and cadillac would not repair it under warranty, only 7,000 miles out of warranty?? how often do you have to replace the steering gear on a bwm, volvo, lexus, infinity or even yet a yugo at only 57000 miles? the car has been perfectly maintained, serviced and kept in excellent condition. it was replaced with a brand new steering gear from classic cadillac. now only 18 months later and 17000 miles the steering gear has gone bad again. this is a very expensive repair and cadillac/gm is telling me that the part only comes with only a 12 month, 12000 mile warranty??? this is obviously a defective in the design of your product. i called the 800-458-80006 customer help line and have little confidence that cadillac will help me with this problem. my car is now going to be tied up in the shop for several days and is going to be a huge inconveniences and expense to myself and family. please let me know who i can speak with at cadillac/gm to talk with about this obvious defect in your product. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. the contact stated that when she tried to engage the brake pedal it extended to the floorboard. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that the electronic brake control module was defective and would need to be rebuilt. the vehicle was repaired. three months later, the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was told that the hub bearing would need replacing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer did not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was 95,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.
My rear subframe came un-welded. car lost ability to control direction due to rear wheel pointing in different directions. there is a recall for this exact problem on the 2005 model but not yet for the 2004 model. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. while the contact was driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle unexpectedly spun out of control onto the side of the road into the grass. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the technician stated that the vehicle exhibited a partial detachment of the subframe caused by defective or missing frame welds. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 06v125000 (suspension: rear) for the 2005 cadillac srx model. the contact is concerned that the recall does not include his year, make and model vehicle. he experienced the identical failures as mentioned in the recall. the vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed. the failure mileage was 111,345.
Frame failure. rear sub frame was not welded on properly resulting in the car losing all directional control and going off the road. could have been bad if speed was not so low. cadillac has not been able to fix car due to not having part for last 7 months. it is a recall on the 05 but not the 04. gm refuses to do anything other than tell me they will let me know when they have news. they have even requested to store the vehicle at my residence rather than the dealership as it has been there so long. i am so tired of this 7 month headache. please look into expanding the recall on the 05 to include the 04. it is the identical issue and it can be extremely dangerous. it is just discussing how they can forget to actually wield part of the frame. there is no excuse for that! especially when they refuse to actually make it right. they will not even get me a rental car. i had to get a new car because the srx is not even able to be sold. i'm just out of 15k?. please look into this. i have ample photos and documentation and recorded phone calls from gm. i truly don't want to see someone get killed as can easily happen. this is just horrible negligence on gm's behalf. i also thought they had to continue making parts for 10 years by law? they just recently stopped making this style. they still have 8 years left by law to make the parts. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 cadillac srx. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle would pull to the right, causing the brakes to become engaged and the vehicle to stop. the service stabilizing system light illuminated at the time. the contact had to hit the reset button and the computer reset itself. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the dealer could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. the manufacturer had not been notified. the failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
Noise in rear of auto, result was wheel bearing in rear wheel was found to be bad national back order of part, waiting for car to be repaired.. car has only 34k miles. *tr
While test driving a new cadilac srx equipped with automatic all wheel drive, v-8 engine and 20" tires (oversided the reg 18" standard tires and wheels) vehicle steering froze making left hand turn going approx 10-12 mph....right front tire and wheel . failed...causing skid into curb....preliminary inspection showed failure of all wheel drive or right wheel lugs/tire failure causing loss of tire/wheel.*ak
