Headlamp failure - known recall #14291 my vin was not part of the recall, but was diagnosed with the same issue. driving on the highway at night, the low beam and day time running lights went out. i had my youngest child with me at the time. the dealership told me the recall wasn't covered and i had to pay the $360 bill.

Hello, my 2006 buick lacrosse regular beam headlights keeps going out due to the wiring getting hot for some reason. no aftermarket highlights or bulbs been added. the wiring is melting completely. you can see smoke coming from the headlight assembly. i'm also experiencing my entire dash goes out while driving for 2-seconds then comes back on, i'm not sure if the wiring that's shorting out from my low beam headlights after burning is causing this issue or not since the wires begins to touch after the wire covering is burned. i contacted buick the manufacture, and they are giving me the run around asking me questions that doesn't even pertain to the issues at hand, like when was your last oil change? this issue with the headlights is highly dangerous and can cause a fire and prevent visibility for myself and others to see me at night, plush getting a ticket from the police for having no headlights. this should become a recall issue immediately. this is a major safety issue.

My front headlamp low-beam keep burning out ...was suppose to be repaired by re=call...have replaced lamp and wireing 4 more times since dealears fix

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while driving at night, the low beam headlights failed to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

Every time i get in the car the lights won't stay on. i change the bulbs and it still doing the same thing. the electrical system ignition is acting up to.

Both low beam headlights stopped working at the same time when the vehicle was started. light switch was in "auto" position. switching to manual position - low beam lights still won't operate. high beam and marker lights work as they should. researching cause i found a nhtsa recall no.15v519000 (gm no.14291) for a faulty headlamp driver module (hdm) which adressed the issue. reached out to buick and was told the module for this vehicle had already been replaced in 2016 (original owner), issue closed. i appealed that if the corrective hdm failed again then the same safety issue exists and they should replace the part at fault as many times as necessary or modify the module not to fail continuously. what is the policy if a recall fix is replacing with a faulty part? thank you.

While driving at night, both headlights failed to illuminate. the area that i live is rural and back roads do not have street lights. while the brights were working, that also created a hazardous condition, as the brights could temporarily blind an oncoming driver, especially dangerous on narrow 2 lane roads. the car was taken to art moran buick dealership and i paid over $300.00 to replace headlight module. i was told that gm only covered this from date of purchase to 12 years or 150,000 miles. this happened six months past that date. the car has 98,300 miles on it as of today. this is a definite safety hazard, and nhtsa should require a full recall. i have the recall letter from gm, as well as the paid bill for the repair from the buick dealer. however, i am not a computer genious, so tell me how i can get these documents to you.

While driving with low beam headlight setting my headlights went out. i tried to go from automatic to manual but the lights remained out. high beams continued to work as normal. a very dark night on a two lane road with opposing traffic and this very dangerous situation was unpleasant and extremely dangerous. i almost went off the side into a ditch with a drop off and trees when i could not see. this was compounded by opposing traffic and a near head on situation. the buick dealership explained that the warranty and recall had just expired both by the date of a 2006 car and that my millage had exceeded the limits of the recall.. a head on crash or over a drop off into trees would have been tragic. i will be spreading the news about this problem that has not been corrected. i was never contacted by gm about this problem.the recall was not recognized by the buick dealership upon my first contact telephone call. after a little research, i have found that this problem is very well known and documented in the auto industry. recall no. 15v519000 states that the buick owners may not be informed of an expanded warranty for this problem. the problem is not fixed and needs to be fixed before someone with a car load of children gets wiped out in a terrible accident that could have been corrected by notification by the manufacture of the auto in question. i noticed many different models are affected by this manufactures defect. i can see many law suits coming up since this is a well known problem. i will be addressing this with my senators and representatives.

When i am driving sometimes the automatic lights shut off and the only lights that will work are my bright lights. can happen anytime of the day.

While driving, the low beams will randomly turn off. this is not provoked by bumps of any kind, they just turn off during random times. they have turned off on highways, on a city street, at a stoplight, there is no connection to the times it stops working. the high beams continue to work, and after a few minutes the low beams start to work again. this becomes problematic during night driving, especially in towns, when it is raining, and when it is foggy.

The headlight driver module (hdm) failed and the headlights went out.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that the low beam, high beam, day time running lamps, and emergency/hazard lighting failed to function intermittently. the failure occurred more than twice. the contact was uncertain if the lights would operate properly during the evening hours. john jones auto group corydon (1735 gardner ln nw, corydon, in 47112, (812) 722-4146) indicated that the vehicle was not included in a manufacturer recall and had not scheduled an appointment to diagnose the failure and repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 106,000. *tr

I'm an old man well one trying to make it home on the interstate traffic was kind of heavy and getting bad for a good reason something didn't seem right other cars was blinking their lights at i pull to side check my running lights where not working i try everything so i had to drive almost a hour with bright lights

My low beam headlamps go out intermittently without cause. sometimes they come back on and sometimes they stay inoperable for extended periods of time.

Both low beam headlights go out intermittently while driving.

My low beam headlights cut off and do not turn back on. it happens a couple times a day and i do not feel safe driving this vehicle. it happens while driving. it happens both in the city and on the highway

Headlights have a mind of their own. only high beams work. my grandson noticed a recall he called the local dealership. was told that our vin number was not listed. same model as thousands of others.. he replaced headlight module and both bulbs about 70 dollars lost. this happened at night while going down road in heavy rain on 2 lane

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while the vehicle was stationary, the low beam headlights became inoperable. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 71,000. updated 05/31/17*lj the consumer stated the vehicle was not included in the headlamp recall, but experienced the same symptoms. updated 08/03/217*js

Vehicles low beam lights went out for no reason both at the same time. worked an hour before and just quit. high beams will work. read many complaints on the same thing while looking for solutions

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while driving 70 mph, the low beam headlights became inoperable without warning. the high beam headlights had to be activated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting). the failure mileage was 148,000.

Low beam headlights on both sides stopped functioning. high beams still work. verified that bulbs and/or fuses were not the problem. same issue as nhtsa recall 15v519000 gm recall 14291. contacted gm who claimed my particular car was not included in recall. as mentioned in previous comments, that makes no sense. if its the same problem as other recalled cars had why isn't my car also recalled? in my opinion gm needs to recall all cars with this problem or supply a valid reason why some cars are excluded from the recall.

My daughter borrowed my car.on the way back, at night, with two children in the car ,on the highway the lights go off. she pulls over and tries to get them on. thank god her husband was following her in their car, who she followed ,so she could see. so i go to the auto parts store to buy bulbs to find out i don't have any lights in the front. so i go to the garage, they replace the bulbs for the daylights. now high beams flicker and still no lights.they say i need a modular. i call buick and they tell me my car is not under the recall. this is a bad safety issue and should not happen and should include all models.

The headlamps are developing a film (common w vehicles of this era to present) of which cannot be erased even with suggested solutions ( such as certain household compounds- toothpaste, furniture polish, etc.) i consider this a severe safety defect in manufacturing design. the car companies should be held responsible for designing basic auto safety elements that endure the life of the vehicle.

I drive at night and the low beam light out side shots off that i can not see the road to drive until i turn on the high beam to get to my place. now the low beam light does not work at all. i took my car to the dealer for diagnostic, they coul not find what the problem is. it is of a matter of safty issue to drive at night when lights go off . i was driving last night and the light low beam went off " dangerous " i was driving in the city streets, i could not go to hyway. i normally drive in hiway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that the key was getting stuck in the ignition and was difficult to turn. in addition, the low beam headlights failed to function properly. the dealer (coggin buick gmc in jacksonville, 7245 blanding blvd, jacksonville, fl 32244, (904) 638-1115) was notified. the dealer did not provide a specific remedy to diagnose the vehicle other than telling the contact to replace the bulb and, if the failure recurred, to bring the vehicle back to the dealer. the contact replaced the bulbs for the low beams, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available. *tt *tr

The hdm module failed leaving no low beams while driving in a rural area at night. vin was not covered by the recall allowing buick to ignore the problem and leave the owner to pay. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while driving approximately 55 mph, both headlights failed. the bright lights eventually illuminated; however, the low beam lights remained off. the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting). the approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

Takata recall, while driving at night the low beam headlamps go off. this has happened several times starting in 2011 but have come back on until 10/14/2016, while driving at night on a busy city street. now the low beams do not work at all. the recall description matches to what is happening to my 2006 buick lacrosse with this problem. i have contacted the local buick dealer informed me my car vin # is not on their recall list. *tr

Low beams do not function, only high beams. when headlamps are switched to low beams they go dark. this occurred while driving down a dark rural road with no street lights.

My headlamps have gone out on me three times (oct. 7, 2016, nov. 3, 2016, and nov. 9, 2016 ) while either driving to work or driving home from work in a straight line and in the dark. the first time, i turned the switch off and back on. the lights remained on for the duration of the trip. the second time, the lights came back on without touching the switch, and were out briefly. the third time, the lights were out longer than the second time, but they did come back on without touching the switch. the first and second times happened on a rather busy state road while driving approximately 55 mph. the third time happened on a street near my home at about 20- 35 mph.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that while driving a approximately 35 mph, the low beam headlights suddenly shut off and failed to operate. the contact indicated that the low beam headlights later began to operate as normal. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 102,000.

I have not heard back about the status of a prior complaint that i submitted and was written back once about. my complaint read as followed: 'the low beam headlamps permanently fail to illuminate. high beam headlamps are not affected. gm refuses to include this vin in it's recall of buick lacrosse vehicles for this item but includes others of the same make and model. the replacement part available to the consumer only repairs this issue for a short time. buick is requiring me to pay for the repair of something that has been recalled on other automobiles of the same make and model by taking it to a dealer where the new part is only available. the dealership is quite expensive compare to my regular auto repair place. i feel that the buick company is acting inappropriately in only covering specific vin numbers of lacrosse from 2006.'

Intermittent problem with headlamps going dark while driving at night forcing me to use my high beams. daytime running lights appear to work although i wouldn't necessarily notice if they go dark during the day. i understand gm has a recall for this problem and want to know if my vehicle qualifies. i have not received any recall notice from gm although i read they have started to send notices out in may 2016.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while driving 45 mph, the low beam headlights failed to illuminate without warning. the failure occurred constantly. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 176,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that the low beam head lamps failed. the vehicle was driven to a mechanic and the battery was replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting). the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 182,000.

On two occasions, the headlights stopped working while i was driving at night. both times occurred when i was driving under 35 miles per hour and had been driving for less than five miles. the first time (february 2016), i stopped, turned the car off and back on and the lights came back on. the second time (april, 2016), i stopped, turned off the ignition and turned it back on. the lights did not come back on. i turned on the ignition and tried the high beams, and they illuminated. when i arrived at home, i tried the regular lights again, but they still failed to work. i found a recall online for this situation for the make, model, and year o f my car (#15v519000), so i contacted buick customer service. i was told that my car did not have this recall on it. i believe that the fact that i have the same problem on the same car model, make, and year should should qualify my car for the recall for this serious safety issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting) however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while driving at night, the headlights suddenly shut off. the contact indicated that the failure occurred on multiple occasions. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. the vehicle was repaired on 06/27/16. the headlight driver module was replaced at a cost of $ 122. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the failure mileage was 106,400. updated 07/12/16*lj updated 08/02/16.*jb

Beginning to drive home at night and discovered that headlamps were not illuminated. stopped car to verify that headlamps were not working. found that high beams would work but not low beams. tried resetting auto headlamps without success. was able to drive home with high beams. once home tried resetting auto headlamps again - no success. not likely that both headlamps went out at same time but checked bulbs and fuses for low beam headlamps - all good. have seen reports that hdm for 2006 lacrosse fails and has a recall but my vin is not included in recall on nhtsa site.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that the low beam headlights failed to turn on. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was experiencing the same failure listed under nhtsa campaign number: 15v519000 (exterior lighting) however, the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 180,000.

I have had quite a few problems with having to replace bulbs in the front headlights of 2006 buick lacrosse. but, for the last 4 months when i drive car at night all of a sudden my dim lights go off and i cannot see a thing. two times that this has happened i was meeting another car. luckily, i was not involved in a headon collision. the lights go off, i have to switch to bright lights to drive. this is very annoying to me as well as others. if i park it for awhile they will work again. it seems to be just a short while after you crank car and start driving that it happens. i have seen where there are recalls on buick's lighting but have not received notice of recall. once i was driving on a farm to market highway; next time, driving on a city street in motion both times.

The headlights on my car work intermittently. it has been many occasions when were driving at night and in daytime when all of a sudden the lights go out. there has been several times at night the lights have went out and we weren't aware that they weren't on which is extremely dangerous. when the lights go out we have to utilize the high beams in order to see at night. this first started in the summer of 5/2012 and continues to happen today,

Low beam headlights stopped working while driving on a city street. this vehicle is not included in the safety recall for this year model. fuses and bulb were checked and confirmed to be good.. hdm module was replaced but did not rectify problem. while investigating recalls i found several other complaints from other owners that were not included in the recall but had a problem that fits the description of this year and model which were included in the original recall. my vehicle has 55884 miles on it.

2006 buick lacrosse. consumer requests reimbursement for low-beam headlamps recall notice repairs. *smd the consumer stated the low beam headlights went out. the headlights would only work on high beam. the headlamp switch was replaced. *jb
