While driving through town during the early evening my headlights shut off. i pulled over to the side of the road to determine my options. i tried using the switch (instead of the automatic headlights) to force he headlights to turn on. that did not work. i began to head back toward home to try to determine what went wrong with my car. while driving back home (within a mile of the headlights turning off) my headlights turned back on. about a block or two later the headlights turned off again. another block or two and the headlights turned back on. i drove to get some dinner and while waiting at the drive-thru the headlights again turned off. a minute or two later the headlights turned back on and stayed on for the drive back home. i wound up driving approximately three miles without knowing if my headlights would stay on or off or if i was in danger of a car fire. i wound up replacing the hdm module. *tr

Our headlights/daytime running lights just quit working as we were driving. we were able to safely pull over and use the high beams. this has been an issue for over a year now. sometimes the regular headlights work and sometimes they don't. all other lights work fine so we have been intermittently driving with just high beams only. we were excited to find out that this issue has been recalled on our make and model and year until we later found out that our vin number was not affected. i find his is very strange!!! it sure seems like it was affected to me!!! i called gm recall help line and there is apparently nothing i can do about this. i would think safety would be a concern for your customers. i would also think you would like to know if other vehicles were affected. i would like further research on additional vehicles as it is obvious that other vehicles have been affected. please follow up with me regarding this issue. *tr

My lights go out and don't come back on. i have to drive with my high beams at night. *tr

Low beam headlights do not work. lights worked fine, parked the car in the garage, lights stayed on delay mode and both were fine. driving home the next night, several oncoming vehicles flashed lights, i pulled into a parking lot to check my lights... no low beam lights. switched from auto to manual mode, still no low beam lights, high beam lights work fine. i have read that several others have this same problem. nobody seems to have a solution. i do not feel i should need to pay the dealer to 'analyze the problem' and charge an outrageous price to fix this. this is a definite safety issue! *tr updated 09/10/13*lj

Low beam headlights go out, sometimes they will not come back on until car ignition is turned off and back on sometimes they don't come back on at all, very dangerous, gm has a recall but they say my vin number is not covered, i have talked to local dealer as well as general motors concerning this issue with no positive response. it appears this issue will be just like the key switch issue, people will have to die before anything is done. *tr

Started off low beam head lights would fade in and out then one day i had no low beam head lights at all every shop i take this car to no one has a clue why my low beam lights want work auto or manual. . high beam lights are ok and i have no other electrical problems. *tr

Lights keep going off and on and air bag light is on and transmission problems

I am an owner of a 2006 buick lacrosse cx, with approx. 47,000 miles. as i entered the underground parking garage, at work, tuesday morning, i discovered i had no low beams. the high beams and parking lights both worked. i took the car to a very reputable dealer to diagnose. i was told that it was a good thing i got the car there when i did. (i could've had a fire under the hood)...the technician said that the fuse box, against the firewall, under the hood, had melted. this could have been a very dangerous situation, a.e., driving at 65 mph at night, a fire, etc... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that the low beam head lights were inoperable. the contact would have to engage the high beams for substantial illumination when driving at night. the dealer attempted to diagnose the failure, but was unsuccessful. the manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 89,800 and the current mileage was 90,000.

Coming home from the hospital on i-65, with my mother the low beam headlights suddenly went out we managed to pull over safely but shaken up. after a few minutes the lowbeams came back on. we have had recurring problems with this but never knew when to expect it to happen. we replaced the relay and solved the problem temporarily. the car now has 96000 miles and no low beams. if general motors don't think this issue is severe enough to do a recall maybe they might respond to a class action lawsuit. once i decide to sell this car it will be the last buick i ever own. *tr

It started when driving along and the low beam headlights would go out, the only way i had any lights at all is on high beam, and i would click back on low beam after i pulled over and the low lights would come back on. this happened a few times and now i have no low beam lights at all only high beam. i have called a local dealership that has fixed the car several times before with electrical issues because the dealer i bought it from has gone out of business. and they said it is no longer under warranty and will cost be approximately $400-$700 which i do not have and i also see other complaints on this web site for the same thing. so tell me why isn't their a recall. this car is absolutely a hazard to have on the roads. she has almost gotten me & my family killed several times, from losing power to the headlights going out on very dark roads i have written a letter to gm before, i guess they wont do anything until someone or their family is killed. *tr

Dash lights will not come on when starting the car. this happens on occasion (about 2 times per month). it is impossible to determine when this happens. the dash lights may come on from five minutes to an hour after the car is started. this mostly happens when the car is first started. on several occasions it has done out while driving. gm has offered a diagnoses of the problem but this would only be beneficial if they were off and stayed off when i would go to a dealer. i have tried this any the lights always come back on before i arrive. my neighbor has a buick the same year as mine and his does the same thing. the dealer refuses to find the problem and says it is suppose to work that way. they are wrong on this problem. when the lights go out you can not see anything in the dash lighted area. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 buick lacrosse. while turning the vehicle at 10 mph, the headlights dimmed when the turn signals were engaged. the contact did not know if the rest of the exterior lights also failed. he waited approximately 15-20 seconds before the headlights illuminated again. he turned the vehicle again and the headlights failed. the contact pulled the vehicle over and waited once more for the lights to illuminate. once the lights activated again, he drove all the way home without using his turn signals. he took the vehicle to the dealer and they attempted to repair the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. there had been no other occurrences since the recent failure. the current mileage was approximately 16,600 and failure mileage was approximately 16,400. updated 07/09/08 *bf
