Was driving my car and went to turn into the gas station. when i tried to turn it was a loud whirring sound. i took it back to where i bought it. i haven't even owned the car for 30 days yet. they said power steering fluid was leaking. they checked to see if it was coming from pump or hose and it was from the pump. so had to replace power steering pump. got my car back last night and the steering still feels off it isn't making the whirring noise now. it is so hard to explain. it feels bouncy when you make a right turn i guess you could call it. the car makes a squeaking noise when turning as well and they couldn't figure out why.
Power steering has started failing when turning, making it extremely hard to turn the steering wheel. seems worse at slow speed. happens whenever and wherever i try to turn the steering wheel. will drive okay when going straight. made appointment for service. i suspect power steering pump needs replaced, but just guessing.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 buick enclave. when the contact depressed the brake pedal to make a turn at 25 mph, the steering wheel seized. there were no warning indicators illuminated and the failure occurred randomly. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 122,613.
2011 buick enclave makes a whining noise when accelerating, turning and slowing down. dealership informed me that car is "cold" and needs warming up because temperature has changed. however, my car was making this noise just not as bad during the summer. i asked if it was the power steering pump or if i needed fluid. they informed me they capped off the fluid during each of my service visits but the noise is still there. now i'm going to have to take it somewhere else for a second opinion after reading other people's issues with their enclave. my issue is always during start up, turning and stopping which is a huge problem. it has been escalating for the past few months. it's worst now.
Shortly after purchasing my 2015 buick enclave the power steering pump had to be replaced. about 15k miles later, the power steering hose needs to be replaced. i have researching into this and it looks like this system has been faulty for numerous vehicles of this model. the person at the dealership told me this can cause a fire if left untreated. this is a major safety concern and should be looked into.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 buick enclave. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. the contact took the vehicle to alpine buick gmc 8120 w tufts ave, denver, co 80123 to have the light turned off however, the warning light remained illuminated. the contact also stated that one day while reversing from the driveway, the power steering ceased without warning and the vehicle hit a tree. no injuries were reported and there was not a police report filed. the contact had the vehicle repaired under warranty at the same dealer but the failure recurred. also, the contact stated that the transmission had to be replaced under warranty due to an abnormal noise that was heard emitting from the engine. the contact had the transmission replaced. the manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 29,515.
At slower speeds while not accelerating or on uneven surface, the power steering fails reverting to manual steering. makes it difficult to turn the steering wheel. there is no warning when it's going to happen
While in motion and braking to turn right or left, my power steering completely goes out. the steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn causing me to almost hit another vehicle as the turning radius had become much more larger than i am used to. the power steering does not seem to be impacted while going 15 mph or higher, it is only while applying brakes and slowing down and turning, right or left. i have been told by an auto shop that loss of power steering is a common problem for gm vehicles between 2009 - 2011 and that even a special coverage adjustment was issued, not a recall though. the special coverage was issued for cars up to 150,000 or 10 years after car was issued for service/sold. ten years in my case was in february 2019. i called a gm dealer to ask for help and was told i'm out of luck because the 10 years had passed. i am the 2nd owner of this vehicle and purchased it used in december 2014. i never received letters or notice from gm of this special coverage. furthermore, i have repeatedly taken my car in ...
When driving the whole electric system wigs out. it starts with the whole a/c controls blacking out and turning off. then they might flicker. this is following by every warning and service light in the dash coming on and every warning announcement coming on the screen on the dash with the car beeping and dinging. then this is followed by the entertainment system completely shutting down and going black as well. sometimes it will do this all over again and flicker a couple of times before coming back on fine, and sometimes it will come back on fine after doing this whole cycle once. it has not shut off the engine so far, but there are problems with steering and down or up shifting during and right after this happens. it may do this multiple times within the span of about 10 mins, or it may do it once in a 30 min span of time. there is no pattern or reasoning to it. it does this no matter what weather condition or road condition there is, and no matter how fast i am going or how many miles i have driven. it does seem to ...
Right around 36000 miles my power steering pump had to be replaced because fluid was visible beneath the car and the source was determined to be the high pressure hoses and pump. at nearly 83,480 miles when the combo switch had to be replaced it was noticed there was a significant rack and pinion leak. i believe the earlier issue is somehow connected to early failure of the rack and pinion. regardless, the tech said there was a 2016 with 52,000 miles on it that needed to have the rack and pinion replaced. he admitted that there is likely a fault in the part causing them to deteriorate before they should.
