I had reached out to toyota regarding the premature chassis rust issue on their trucks. i had inadvertently missed the cut off date for the coating which was in may of 2018 due to an unavoidable personal event. what didn't make sense was that they extended the campaign to replace the chassis if the perforation was deemed severe until january of 2020. i had the chassis inspected by a toyota dealer before this january cutoff date. while there isn't sufficient perforation to warrant a replacement but it is clearly evident that the chassis was never painted and the rusting on the chassis is clearly prominent for a vehicle of this age. what is most disconcerting is that they would extend the warranty to replace the frames but they would not extend the cutoff to coat the chassis. shouldn't this coating be covered by the manufacturer without a cutoff date? my truck has been very well taken care of, never abused and always washed after snow storms but due to no fault of my own whereas the initial chassis coating was faulty i am now faced with ...

Main frame of the 2005 tundra is rotten from rust and a chunk of the frame has fallen out. see picture. i contacted local toyota dealer and they said there is nothing they can do as recall has expired and toyota corporate will not do absolutely nothing. this tundra was supposed to be sprayed in 2014 as part of the "fix" but the frame is rusting and rotting apart. more signs of rots are visible on the frame.

I own a 2005 toyota tundra with just 60,000 miles. in 2014 toyota was allowed to put a band-aid on a problem that needed a tourniquet - applying a rust converter coating to a frame that, because of their failure to manufacturer it properly, deserved replacing. i was told by toyota (case number [xxx]) that because the previous owner took the band-aid they were no longer liable until the government forced them via further government safety recall actions to do more. my hope is by writing this that the government can be proactive and solve this safety concern before they have to collect enough death and accident statistics to take notice of this issue. not only that, i see that toyota is being offered the same band-aid solution on a number of new models with the same issue - proving that they didn't learn any lesson just how they can get away with actual murder. the result will be more vehicles in 5 years in worse shape due to the lenient reconciliation mandated by the government. do not put more lives at risk in order to save a multi-billion dollar companies bottom line. ...

In mid december, 2019, i was driving on the interstate and the spare tire dropped from under my 2003 toyota tundra. fortunately, no vehicles were behind me at the time. i was so surprised to see that tire bouncing down the road behind me! that spare tire had never been taken from the carrier. i made an appointment with a toyota dealer for inspection/recall in early february. they said the corrosion on the cross-member needed to be replaced but the spare tire carrier corrosion issue causing the tire to drop was only for recalls on the tacoma models, i was responsible for the issue. i feel this is a toyota manufacturing safety issue that needs to be addressed. do i have any recourse?

2006 Toyota Tundra

2006 toyota tundra purchased new from toyota dealership in central pa; one owner. customer purchased dealer offered undercoating due to known climate conditions of central pa in order to prevent undercarriage corrosion. same dealership (under new ownership) carried out corrosion inspection campaign in 2015; dealer conclusion-apply additional corrosion-resistant compound to frame (did they actually apply anything?). pa inspection at independent garage in 2019 failed for frame corrosion (but no perforations?). vehicle taken to place of purchase to repeat inspection; dealership also failed vehicle for pa inspection due to frame corrosion; suggested sending it to additional toyota dealers for additional inspections and to call toyota corporate. (note-failed areas and other inspection areas are now completely devoid of corrosion protection due to removal by inspection mechanics). called toyota corp., they can't/won't help. supervisor to call back. so far, toyota will not rectify the issue. there are 100 year old ford model t's on the road with frames that are perfectly healthy in pa, but a piece of junk made in the usa (which has been less than useless for the last 40 years), foreign owned corp.,13 year toyota is scrap!!! obsolescence and second class citizenship consumer products should be illegal and ...
