2005 toyota tundra double cab. when stationary on cold start: vehicle produces a loud noise and additional carbon monoxide/exhaust, causing additional danger when starting in a garage. when in motion: truck operates as intended until acceleration is attempted, causing a major safety concern when merging onto highways, driving up an incline, or any other driving situation where the gas application is necessary. when in motion: venting and interior air controls cannot be used based on the amount of exhaust that will spill into the cab of the truck. this is a problem that is widely known to the toyota community, and to drivers of toyota tundras in particular. of note, thousands of messages can be easily accessed in the toyota message boards (tundra talk, toyota nation, tundras.com, tundra solutions). in addition, there is a separate cottage industry that has sprung up as a result, where manufacturers are producing bypass kits that compromise the exhaust standards set by you all, where an entire business model has been created to profit off of these issues. one of the primary parties is hewitt-tech. when advised ...
While driving 40 mph the warning light 'accelerator and brake pedals depressed simultaneously ' came on and the truck slowed down significantly, which almost caused an accident. the brake pedal was not being used while driving.
I was in motion and driving on a residential street, while operating vehicle at the time of accident. after the collision, the airbag did not deploy. the takata airbag was replaced by the auto manufacturer (toyota dealership) prior to my above mentioned accident. the auto accident occurred for unknown reasons, possibly brake failure or unexpected acceleration of the car engine.
When you get ready to drive down the road the accelerator is very touch i took it in for the recall but it's still the same very dangerous, the passenger seat belt while the truck is going down the road the seat belt will tighten up so tight its chocking you and it want loosen up unless you uhook it
Driving at 45mph comming upon an empty intersection with a stop light. brakes came on and warnings flashed yet nothing in front of me.
Collision avoidance system engaged randomly with no known cause at location traveled on a frequent basis. at between 40-45mph on a sunny day at temperature in upper 60's and a location that i travel multiple times a week, the collision avoidance system engaged on the dash board. there were no cars, guard rails, trees or other major metal objects on or near the road at the time of the incident. toyota service mgr indicates that there was no data logging of the event and technician was unable to reproduce; indicates that without 'evidance', they cannot make a repair. however, the evidence of intermittent sensor or computer failures is not always available if proper data logging equipment is not installed in the system. previously, the collision avoidance system had been engaged by an oncoming bus in the adjacent lane (normal daily driving condition, no expectation of collision) at 30mph. parking collision sensor (left front) was also triggered in minor snowfall at low speed in a parking lot. vehicle was purchased new from dealer 12/2017 and had all scheduled services.
While driving with the adaptive cruise control set a message will appear "radar cruise control unavailable clean sensor". this message will appear with no adverse weather conditions. due to this error the cruise control no longer works and the pre-collision warning system no longer works. also randomly a "brake!" message will appear and the vehicle automatically slams on the brakes when no emergency exists creating a hazard for vehicles behind.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 toyota tundra. while the vehicle was idling at an intersection with the brake pedal depressed, it accelerated without warning. the contact placed the vehicle in neutral and then in park. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, the failure recurred. the contact installed a new battery, but the failure recurred. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. the failure mileage was 28,000.
