Approximately three weeks ago i had the accelerator recall repair work completed on my 2007 toyota tundra, after, i noticed randomly while i was stopped at a light, intersection etc. i would accelerate the truck would feel as if some one pushed the gas pedal, and then hit the brake. it started out very mild. and i though it may have just been me causing it. on 11 may 2010 while taking my 4yr old to daycare it did it again. but this time it was very hard. the unintended acceleration caused my head, as well as my sons to go back and hit our head rest. the truck accelerated three times in a row. it was as if we were riding a bumpy roller coaster ride. *tr
My wife came very close to getting into an accident while bringing the kids to school a few weeks ago. she was leaving a stop sign getting onto a very busy highway when our 2007 toyota tundra unexpectedly had drastically reduced power. after a trip to the dealership and some research i have found that the reduction in power was caused by a failure in the secondary air injection system. this system is part of the emissions system and is designed to increase efficiency during cold starts. when there is a failure in this system the ecm (onboard computer) goes into a mode in which the available power from the engine is dramatically reduced. toyota has recommended that i replace two air injection pumps and a switching valve set at an estimate of over $3500. i am researching other options because they tell me that this problem can continue to reoccur over and over again. *tr
Toy. 2007 5.7 crew-max 4+4 p2440 code came on and truck went into safety mode .greatly reduced speed . 4 lo lt. comes on as well as engine, traction and anti slip lts. i carry a hand-held code detector and clear the code as soon as it comes up and continuously clear it as i'm driving. toyota wanted 3400.00 to fix this defect after i bought 3 new tundras from them every 3 years. this has gone on for 13 mo. 8 mo. into it my truck started dying and would not start for several min.while i was driving on interstate and was stranded in middle of road more than once. this went on for 1 week 2 different times than it started running again with just the p2440 code coming up all the time and shutting me down. this has happened to many many people including my brother in law who also had a 2007 tundra ex. cab. they fixed his because he was only 1500 mile out of warranty. when my trouble started i was at 70,000+ mi. defect has nothing to do with amt. of miles, just time(after 3 yrs.)after 13 mo. still no help from toyota and no recall. I have a 2007 toyota tundra sr5 double cab and have had all of my regular maintenance completed on time and at a local toyota dealership. i have made the complaint of my gas pedal sticking and my floor mats were not an issue. they claim they "fixed" the recall problem with adding a part to the gas pedal. since i have had my truck back, it has not worked properly. the gas pedal still accelerates on its on or decelerates on its on. the gas pedal "floats" with your foot so the engine is constantly making the rpm's rise and fall constantly upon riding over bumps or hills. i don't want a "part" to be installed, i want the entire pedal to be replaced! i like my truck, however, the engine does not run correctly and is constantly making a ticking sound like a diesel engine would sound. i have made several complaints to the dealership and they are constantly telling me it is ok and nothing is wrong. transmissions are not made to just down shift 3 gears right off the bat on the interstate on flat ground. nothing has been done to try to correct this problem as they proclaim there is no problem. they are crazy! pulling a horse trailer made it difficult for the transmission to shift properly and it was in tow mode. it took 1 mile or longer for it to shift from 1/2 gear to 4 gear and the rpm's were over 2,500.. this is not normal. i felt it would never shift downward from 1/2 gear. i am afraid to pull my horses with the transmission acting this way. *tr
I took my 2007 tundra for a modification of the pedal to toyota. on the date below. i am concern about the way the pedal is working. every time the truck bounces or hits a bump, my truck accelerates, because of the sensitivity of the pedal. it did not do that before. i am in the process of taking it back. as soon as i can take some time off of work again. i just thought you might want to know how the modification is working on my tundra. thank you for your time. *tr
Floor mat in my 2007 toyota tundra slid forward causing the accelerator to depress fully. avoid crash by shifting to neutral and turning the engine off then discovered the problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the contact stated that the radio is inoperative. also after removing the cd disk from the cd player, the cd disk is melted. she has taken the vehicle to the dealer multiple times and has had the radio: cd: tape deck replaced. none of the repairs have remedied the failure. she contacted the manufacturer, but was not provided with any assistance. the failure mileage was 1000. the current mileage was 9,000. updated 10/21/09 *bf updated 10/20/09
I bought my 2007 tundra 6/30/2007 ran great until around 18,500 mi. at that time the transmission started making a banging noise which it felt like the 05 4 runner. the 4 runner still does it but it runs and drives fine. the tundra is getting really bad as it is grinding and banging. i have been in contact with toyota from my area and they keep saying i have to bring it in to have it checked. i have had several appointments and they usually call and cancel the appointment. i contacted different corporate exc's and one from california called and made an app. and i was there for it. i waited for 1 1/2 hours and the rep didn't show. i am now going to send mr.akio toyoda, president of toyota a certified letter. his address iscorporate headquarters* 1 toyota-cho toyota city, aichi 471-8571 japan phone: 81 5 6528 2121 fax: 81 5 6523 5800 i hope everyone that has a problem will send a certified letter to him and let him know how embarrassed the toyota co. should be for the way they are handling the problems. i for one will go back to gm as they will half try to help. *tr
Radio goes off or on by itself and sometimes the lights will go off when selecting a station but the radio still works. have been unable to turn radio on at times and the next time it will go off when selecting a station. this also happens with the cd player. radio was changed once within the first year, worked fine for awhile and has started again. *tr
The radio inconsistently turns off or on by itself. my concern is that there is a short which could lead to a fire. *tr
Since day one that i have purchased the truck i have complained that the brakes don't slow the truck down as it should. that you have to pump it at least one time for them to act normal when slowing down. some times it is over half way to the floor before you stop. and that is with out pulling a load. when i talked to the dealership (jay wolfe toyota of k.c) was told that "it was magic brakes" , i have had to go back to the days of old where you give it a pump then it works. i have almost rear ended several people. these brakes are dangerous. and i paid $50,000. for that. they did not consider this to be a problem that maybe i needed to get use to the truck. *tr
I just noticed others had complaints about this issue too on your site. i brought it to the attention of the dealer and they had no fix except to remove one or the other although the standard clip does not work well with their mudder mats. i was entering the highway from the ramp and pressed down to accelerate to move into traffic and the truck accelerated as hard and fast as it could. i found myself having to weave through traffic like i was in a nascar race. when i finally found a clear path to the shoulder i swerved onto it and shut the truck off. it would not slow down and i could not shift into neutral. i had to be going about 60 at the top of the onramp and well over 100, probably faster, when i finally was able to shut it off. i got out of the truck to take a break and calm down and upon returning to the truck i noticed that the "mudder mats" i bought from a toyota site slipped forward enough to wedge itself under the gas pedal. i stay aware of the position of the mat more frequently now and keep it slid back but there is no restraint for it that will go thru both the floor liner that protects more of the floor area and the mudder mat on top of it. i bought both at the tundra parts site. i hope that there will be some warning for others made big and dramatic enough to bring attention to this problem to avoid having this happen to another. i was very lucky to have survived this. *tr
