I have 101,489 on my i bought it new now i am experiencing transmission problems has the regular service on transmission now i have a big problem with shifting and jerking what do i need to do..now

My check engine light has come on. as well as the lights stating the vehicle stability control and traction control systems have been disabled. the transmission will not shift out of third gear and the vsc being off is causing an unsafe driving condition due to slipping tires around corners at normal speeds. upon checking the engine code p2714 and p0751 i have come to find out there is an internal toyota technical service bulletin circulating their dealership service departments dating back to november 28, 2007 when this issue was first discovered. the bulletin is named tc017-07. also upon further investigation i have found numerous posts about this code and the exact issues my vehicle suffers from on multiple toyota tundra message and internet chat groups. this is a very serious issue which could easily cause loss of life or property if these vehicles with this issue are suddenly prone to the vsc and transmission acting abnormally. this issue for me came up very suddenly with no prior warning as the dash lights came in while driving. i will be asking totota to fix this issue at their cost with the remedy they describe in their service bulletin. the remedy they recommend is to replace the transmission and reprogram the ecm.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. while the contact's vehicle was at a red light, there was a loud noise as if another vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. when the brake pedal was released, a banging noise was heard from the drive line of the vehicle. the failure recurred numerous times. the contact took the driveshaft parts to a driveshaft specialist where the u joint and carrier bearing were replaced. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v579000 (power train). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 116,000.

I had all the dash lights flashing and the transfer case stuck in 4wheel drive low, an engine misfire and vibration. i took it to my mechanic and he said it was an air pump valve problem. he cleared the codes in the computer and i drove it home. the next morning it did the same thing. i took it back and he got it running again. the weather has since warmed up and it hasn't done it since. that was a couple months ago. i found out that toyota was extending the warranty to 10 years and 100,000 miles. so i took it to foss toyota in casper, wy. they told me they couldn't fix it unless it malfunctioned right there on their lot. i contacted toyota headquarters by e-mail, i explained the problem and was phoned by someone at toyota. they told me the same thing. i say bullcookies. those engine fail codes are still in the computer. and i believe they're stalling until my 10 years are up this coming september. this air pump repair is a $5,000.00 to $6,000.00 bill. i think toyota should repair my truck, i bought it from them in good faith, i had to have a $1,000.00 + engine belt and a water pump put on it already, and now this? what are my options when dealing with a less than honest company? when the dash lights flashing and the transfer case stuck in 4wd. it was parked in my garage and i just started it up on a cold morning. thank you *tr

I had 2 occurrences of unintentional acceleration. both events transpired as follows: 1) applied brakes in preparation of starting engine and engaging transmission. 2) started engine, put it in "drive" and engine suddenly accelerated and jumped forward. 3) i immediately applied brakes with maximum effort to counter the acceleration. 4) threw shifter into "neutral" while engine was maxing rpms, then i shut down engine. both events were close calls. if i had not had presence of mind i would have destroyed the vehicle and property. vehicle was evaluated by local toyota dealer and they say they found no reason for the events. i contend that there is an issue and need to have it pursued. *tr

Front differential went out at 48k miles. it cost me $2000 to replace. i read various blogs and this is a common problem on many tundras built between 2007-2013. i don't drive my truck very often and i treat it very gently. this was a huge expense bill for anybody to absorb. *tr

Powertrain: driveline : driveshaft. vin check info shows 12 recalls on my vehicle. nhtsa shows 0 recalls. had to replace shaft assy due to fluid leaking at 13,000 miles.

At about 90,000 miles, tail-shaft seal leaks, replaced seal and u-join, again at about 140,000. gears feel like stuttering when step on accelerator. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph the rpm's increased to 800. the failure also occurred while at a complete stop. on a separate occasion while idling the vehicle slowly accelerated up an incline independently. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 23,500. *tr

After trying to switch my truck into 4 wheel drive lo, the 4 wheel lo light & symbol would flash and never engage. i tried many times, making sure the vehicle was on a level surface, at a compete stop with emergency brake engaged, shifting from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel hi and then place the vehicle in neutral, with my foot on the brake and tried to switch into 4 wheel lo....nothing, it will not engage. it will however shift back to 4 wheel hi and back to 2 wheel drive. please keep in mind, i only use 4 wheel drive hi, during snow storms in nh and only use 4 wheel lo to drive up my driveway, in very deep snow amounts (16"-20" depths). after finding this very disappointing problem, i scheduled an appointment with our local toyota dealer. they had the vehicle for the day and was able to replicate the same problem. according to the tech and service manger, it was determined that the 4 wheel drive actuator has failed, thus requiring the replacement of the transfer case, actuator and a computer program? any ways this was a toyota service bulletin which referred this remedy fix and at the cost of (drum roll please) $5,200.00 are you kidding me! i'm an ex auto mechanic and perform a majority of my scheduled service and go to toyota for other maintenance repairs and or service, in fact my entire family vehicle history can be found at this dealership proving our due diligent vehicle up keep and loyalty. now don't take this the wrong way, this nh toyota dealership has been great and help us with many other expensive repairs and i'm not blaming them. i point the blame at the toyota corporation, for not stepping up to make this repair as a priority, after all my family has owned (10) toyota vehicles over the past 20 years and all of them have reached the 150k - 180k miles without this problem occurring. *tr

Recently while driving my 2007 toyota tundra, my driveshaft fell out of the slip yoke at the front of the truck behind the transmission. after a shuttering of the truck i finally stopped. luckily, i was only going 10 mph and the damage was limited to the requirement for my drive shaft to be replaced. this is an item identified by toyota as a problem, however, my vin was not included in the safety recall. it seems with limited mileage on the vehicle, a catastrophic failure of the drive train would not have taken place. updated 01/23/14*lj updated 01/23/14

I tuck my tundra to the mechanic for check a noise when i'm driving an he told me the problem is a rear axle bearings and told me the toyota they built this truck with small bearing for the size of this truck , and they toyota already known. the cost for is $1500 . what can i do if they knew the problem so they needs to pay. *tr

Transmission mount broke (snapped). *tr

When making turns there was a grinding/scrapping noise from rear wheel area. dealer confirmed worn rear wheel bearings requiring a toyota update kit to better prevent repeat failure. if multiple parts needed updated perhaps original items were not properly designed? *tr

Turned the truck on and the check engine and traction control lights were both on, 4 lo and vsc off lights were both flashing, the truck sounded noticeably louder and now has a loss of power. codes show p2440. *js

My vehicle set a dtc p2440 for the secondary air induction valve stuck open. i have been told this repair is not covered under warranty due to water intrusion. the only problem is that my vehicle has never been under water or off road. this is a design flaw/engineering defect that toyota created and should be treated as a recall for all affected models for replacement for a better or redesigned part. the cost of replacement for the affected parts is beyond reasonable for all toyota owners. toyota needs to step up and fix there flaw. i pulled out onto a public road and had no power and was nearly involved in an accident due to this problem. its not safe and very dangerous. *tr

Drive yolk went out and blew the rear transmission seal. could have dropped the drive shaft and caused serious injury. over 2000 dollars to repair. this truck has been maintained to the tee, all maintenance done on the dot! very well taken care of. the truck is with high mileage, 90,000. however, we were told at time sale it had a 100,000 mile power train warranty in which there was no worry there because if maintained it would last for 300,000 plus miles.now we are told that is not so it was not 100,000 miles, it was only 60,000. the truck was very well maintained, all highway miles, drive 50 miles one way to work everyday on interstate, never taken off road, never pull anything. well so much for honesty, because they basically told me to bad, so sad. i see toyota is recalling all the 2011 models for drive yolk failure, and i have seen quite a few complaints on various places online on the 2007 tundra?s drive shaft/yolk. they did recall the driveshafts for the 4x4 tundras in 2007, but not the 4 x 2?s. can?t they see there is a problem here also? the truck always felt like something was bumping you when you stopped. we were just told it was normal for the tundra. so watch out folks with lower mileage. i bought a toyota when i was going to get another vehicle with a longer bumper to bumper warranty but the toyota salesman talked us out of it with his 100,000 mile (lie) power train warranty and his 300,000 mile comments. well, what do i do now? this is ridiculous that they will not stand behind there product or even offer a discount, just a sorry about your luck! *tr

Abs, trac and 4hi warning lights all on while driving. vehicle abs and trac control all ceased to function. was driving in slippery road conditions. almost lost control of vehicle. after stopping vehicle, 4hi would not engage. this is 4th or 5th time this has occurred over the past 2 years. mostly occurs during cold weather but not always. have taken truck to dealer after these occurrences and 2 of the times the dealer has been able to replicate the situation. when truck is in state of flashing lights, the truck always returns to normal when you turn off vehicle, wait and then restart it. dealer has replaced parts now 4 times and still having the same problem

The starting date and mileage above is approximate. a sensation of being rear-ended a kind of bump or clunk. your stopped at an intersection and then clunk. or, just before taking off from being stopped at an intersection "clunk". the frequency of this symptom started off as just once in a while when first noticed at around 36k miles. now with 58,000 it happens on a regular basis, say, every 50 miles or so. i keep a mileage log for my business and began documenting when this occurs. i presented this issue to the dealer twice but have failed to replicate it for them to experience. *tr

Purchased 07 tundra in aug 2010 and by dec 2010 we had issues with 4wd gauges blinking/dinging and loss of power/acceleration. followed the manual and no fix. problem eventually quit after about 3 days. problem resumed on 2/14/11 and took to auto shop to have diagnosed. code p2440 was given and we really do not want to return to the local toyota dealer due to lack of quality sales and service. also do not have the estimated $1300+ to fix problem. help toyota, why do we read that this seems to be a common problem with tundras having 50k+ miles? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. when the vehicle was parked the contact noticed two plastic pieces that surround the gear shift were bent and had crumbled which made it difficult to place the gear shift in the desired gear. the gear shift became caught in between the plastic. the contact had to push the plastic down in order to move the gear shift since the vehicle did not recognize when the gear shift was in the park position until the contact pushed the two plastic pieces downward. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technicians stated that the two plastic cover pieces attached to the gear shift needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 63,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. while driving 35 mph the contact heard a popping noise near the drive line. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer who replaced the transmission bearings. the repair did not remedy the failure. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer who stated that there was nothing to repair. while driving the vehicle responded as if it were going to shift out of gear. the contact called the manufacturer and was told that there was nothing they could do if the check engine light does not come on. the contact was concerned since the vehicle could potentially break down. the failure mileage was 60,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the contact stated after receiving a recall in regards to nhtsa campaign id number 07v579000 (power train:driveline:driveshaft) and taking the vehicle in for inspection, he was advised that his vehicle was not experiencing the failure. within a few months, he noticed that when he drove at various speeds, there was a very violent shaking in the drive shaft. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they advised him that they were not going to assist him. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 85,000. the vin was unavailable.

I had my truck in for service and they fix the gas pedal which has made it worse. the truck hesitates then lurches ahead. it happens all the time. also the transmission is making a banging noise and doesn't shift right. it bangs on acceleration and deceleration have had it to the dealers shop and they acknowledge the problem but won't fix it. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota tundra sr5 double cab and have had all of my regular maintenance completed on time and at a local toyota dealership. i have made the complaint of my gas pedal sticking and my floor mats were not an issue. they claim they "fixed" the recall problem with adding a part to the gas pedal. since i have had my truck back, it has not worked properly. the gas pedal still accelerates on its on or decelerates on its on. the gas pedal "floats" with your foot so the engine is constantly making the rpm's rise and fall constantly upon riding over bumps or hills. i don't want a "part" to be installed, i want the entire pedal to be replaced! i like my truck, however, the engine does not run correctly and is constantly making a ticking sound like a diesel engine would sound. i have made several complaints to the dealership and they are constantly telling me it is ok and nothing is wrong. transmissions are not made to just down shift 3 gears right off the bat on the interstate on flat ground. nothing has been done to try to correct this problem as they proclaim there is no problem. they are crazy! pulling a horse trailer made it difficult for the transmission to shift properly and it was in tow mode. it took 1 mile or longer for it to shift from 1/2 gear to 4 gear and the rpm's were over 2,500.. this is not normal. i felt it would never shift downward from 1/2 gear. i am afraid to pull my horses with the transmission acting this way. *tr

The gas pedal stuck i put the vehicle in neutral and my foot on the brake. now the truck is not driving right. it sounds like the transmission is messed up now. *tr

I took my 2007 tundra for a modification of the pedal to toyota. on the date below. i am concern about the way the pedal is working. every time the truck bounces or hits a bump, my truck accelerates, because of the sensitivity of the pedal. it did not do that before. i am in the process of taking it back. as soon as i can take some time off of work again. i just thought you might want to know how the modification is working on my tundra. thank you for your time. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the contact stated that when she depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle would jump and vibrate. the failure was becoming progressively worse. the contact called the manufacturer who stated that the failure could be within the rear differential but there was no remedy at the time of the complaint. the manufacturer stated that they would notify the contact when a solution was available. the failure mileage was approximately 26,000. the current mileage was approximately 30,000.

I own a 2007 toyota tundra - 4x4. several times i noticed that it had moved from where i parked it. it had moved from the spot that i had placed it and rolled backwards, down a fairly steep grade, a distance of around 20 feet. i tried several times to replicate the incident and discovered the following: when parked on a hill without the parking brake engaged the transmission would not "lock" in park while the truck was in 2 wheel drive. this condition can be replicated only when the truck is placed into park immediately after having the anti skid (traction control) respond to a slippery condition. the problem does not occur when the truck is placed into 4 wheel drive. the problem also does not occur if the automated anti skid response does not activate itself. the rolling does not always begin immediately. i have not yet tried to get the same responses while backing the truck up the hill in reverse. i reported this to the local toyota dealer in warren, ohio on tuesday, december 22, 2009. i am very concerned that this condition may cause serious injury or death to anyone who may find themselves behind the vehicle when it begins to roll. *tr

As i slow down i feel a clunk in the transmission. a few seconds after i come to a complete stop, it feels as if someone bumps me in the rear, only there's no car behind me.. also in the mornings the transmission will not change into 6th gear until i drive app. 1 mile . *tr

A friend and i were attempting to launch his jetski. i backed my truck down the boat ramp and my friend was on the jetski. my friend was having trouble getting the jetski to come off the trailer so, i put the truck into park and got out to shove the jetski off. as i got out i noticed the truck lunge and start to roll backwards. i attempted to reach my foot back in to hit the brake. by this time my shoes were wet and because of the position of my body, my foot slipped off of the brake pedal and smashed the gas pedal which caused truck to take off in reverse. as i was still halfway in and out of the truck the door drug me down the boat ramp and under the water with the truck. luckily i was able to get free and had no serious injuries. the truck however was fully submerged and the jetski trailer was broken in the process. note: the original transmission was changed out under a warranty claim at around 10,000 miles by the dealership. *tr

2007 toyota tundra 6 speed transmission torque converter rumble strip and failure. *tr

I feel a clunk in the transmission or rear end a few seconds after i come to a complete stop, it feels as if someone bumps me in the rear, only there's no car behind me. i complained about it at the dealer but they say they do not know how to fix it? now the bump is getting even more pronounced. also in the mornings the transmission will not change into 5th or 6th gear until i drive app. 1 mile. i am nearing 25,000 miles and would like these issues fixed before the expiration of my warranty. *tr

My 2007 toyota tundra lunges forward very often. it does it when i'm coming to a stop. it will do it as i'm decelerating or even after i've come to a complete stop. i hit my wife's car in the rear bumper this week while i was following her. that is what has finally pushed me over the edge to make a complaint. since i've done research on this problem it seems like everybody is running into the same issue with 2005 tundras and up. this needs to get fixed before somebody gets seriously injured. *tr

I have a 2007 toyota tundra crewmax i feel a clunk in the transmission or rear end a few seconds after i come to a complete stop. it feels as if some other car has bumped me in the rear and there are no other vehicles around. on some occasions the thump is much worse than other times. this started several months ago and i thought it may have had something to do with a sudden stop i made when an animal crossed the road in front of me. i haven't had my dealer check this yet but i now realize others are having the same problem so i will get it to the dealer soon. i have approximately 26,000 miles and close to warranty expiration. *tr

As i slow down i feel a clunk in the transmission. a few seconds after i come to a complete stop, it feels as if someone bumps me in the rear, only there's no car behind me. they replaced the drive shaft and seal, but now the bump is even more pronounced. also in the mornings the transmission will not change into 6th gear until i drive app. 1 mile at 60 mph. i am nearing the expiration of my warranty and i am concerned about this issue. *tr

2007 toyota tundra long bed 1. driving down a road and rear tire blows out. 2. the yoke of the drive shaft breaks, separates from the transmission, exits the rear of the vehicle cutting up the rear tire. 3. front and rear portions of the shafts replaced, gas tanks shields, rear bumper, truck bed both sections of the drive shaft were recovered. there are multiple pictures available. there was a recall for the 4x4 driveshafts, but not the 2wd. *tr

I bought my 2007 tundra 6/30/2007 ran great until around 18,500 mi. at that time the transmission started making a banging noise which it felt like the 05 4 runner. the 4 runner still does it but it runs and drives fine. the tundra is getting really bad as it is grinding and banging. i have been in contact with toyota from my area and they keep saying i have to bring it in to have it checked. i have had several appointments and they usually call and cancel the appointment. i contacted different corporate exc's and one from california called and made an app. and i was there for it. i waited for 1 1/2 hours and the rep didn't show. i am now going to send mr.akio toyoda, president of toyota a certified letter. his address iscorporate headquarters* 1 toyota-cho toyota city, aichi 471-8571 japan phone: 81 5 6528 2121 fax: 81 5 6523 5800 i hope everyone that has a problem will send a certified letter to him and let him know how embarrassed the toyota co. should be for the way they are handling the problems. i for one will go back to gm as they will half try to help. *tr

Bought a 2007 toyota tundra. noticed around 23,450 miles that something was turning (spinning) and felt like it was coming through the driverside floor . right underneath my feet. brought it in toyota said they didn't find anything. later heard noises on the left side of engine near left tire. then shaking and vibrations followed. around 60,000 miles transmission started slipping and clunking noises came from the engine. 65,000 miles started losing power. fuel pump failure. paid for a new fuel pump system $777.79. turns out 2007 model has to replace whole system. no other tundra needs to. at 68,000 miles it got worse . transmission diagnostic says transmission needs to be replaced. $4500. at 96,000 miles my truck in non operating. toyota will not replace transmission. even though a toyota operations manager states it is not normal for transmission to go out this soon at so little mileage. the average time is between 15-20 years with the high technology that cars are built with now a days. is what he said to me. older cars built years ago transmissions normally last around 5 years sometimes 10 if they were lucky. so supposedly our vehicles are built smarter now adays. i have so many problems i find that hard to believe. *js

Truck has a clunk and bump coming from the drive train.when you let the foot off the brake the drive shaft jerks. issue is getting worse. arbitration says that toyota has fixed the problem. still has the problem. *tr

After parking the truck for about an hour, i went back into the truck . as i started the truck the 4-wheel lo light appeared on the dash with an indicator beep. the problem with this is that the truck was in 2-wheel drive and never engaged in any 4-wheel operation. at the point of this i tried to put the truck in reverse and it was not there it was neutral, so then i shifted into drive and that was neutral also, i repeated this 4 or 5 times in disbelief. at that point i put the vehicle in park and exited the vehicle not realizing that the vehicle would have no park. i then walked along side the truck and so it roll down my driveway and hit the garage. the truck only rolled about 20 feet approx, but caused about $5,000.00 in damage between the 2. i preceded to then call hoffman toyota and explain. the dealer was accommodating at first offering a loaner vehicle while they ran tests. the service manager told me that in all his time in the business he never heard of such a thing, saying only operator error could cause this. my frustration level was rising but remained calm. along the way i was talking to toyota corp about my problem and had a case manager appointed to me. toyota corp had sent a field tech to the dealer for further review. his test also showed no vehicle error found and that no related cases of transmissions coming out of park. he also indicated that this would only be possible from operator error. so i now had to take responsibility for my house garage and truck repair. after picking up the vehicle i had a friend ask me if i looked into the ntsb.gov website, and i said no, we then proceeded to the site and it took approx. 10 seconds to see a related occurrence with a 2007 tundra with 16,000 miles and happened twice to the individual. i feel very uncomfortable parking this truck thinking this could happen again, it is clear that there is some type of electronic malfunction and what causes this to happen at will is unclear. *tr

When stopping for a traffic light/stop sign from 40-50mph, the truck stops normally. after about 1.5 seconds when at a complete stop, the truck gives a kick. it is severe enough that it feels as if you had been rear ended. the whole truck shutters. i took it in to the dealership who gives the, "i can't duplicate it" spiels. my tranny fluid was low due to a leaking rear seal so they blamed it on that. they changed the aluminum front driveshaft as they stated it caused the leak. problem never went away. does not happen at any other time. suspect the first gear clutch packs are releasing and re-engaging. could be mechanical but it is also a possible problem with the transmission ecu. similar issue with the 2007-up camry which was determined to be the torque converter. *tr

*tr
