We have classified the 35 complaints from 2007 Toyota Tundra about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Vehicle hard to stop with a/c or headlights on. engine idles normally 5-600 rpm, until parking lights or a/c is turned on. then it idles at 800 rpm in gear. sometimes it feels like you've been rear ended, after coming to a stop. if driving surface is slippery and put into gear with head lights on, the rear tires will begin to spin, without touching the accelerator. this is a daily occurence that has been taken to different toyota dealers with no relief. all they can say is that the computer says everything is okay. turning the parking lights on does not cause enough load on the engine to warrant the extra 200 or more rpm. the other day ( 01/26/2010 ) i was turning around in a muddy driveway and while idling i turned the steering wheel to the left. i let my foot off the brake and the truck went straight, even as i applied the brakes, leaving two big ruts through my friends yard. this was caused by the ground being slippery and the high idle speed. i am sure that this will cut down on the life of the brakes. 4.7 v8 engine *cn

When i have come to a complete stop, the car lunges ,rather it feels as if another vehicle has bumped me from behind.from day 1 almost they told me it is "normal" i have been driving 45 yrs. and this is not normal. this is a mfg. defect that is probably so expensive to repair that they are leaving it to the owner to repair after the warranty runs out i have 32,000 mi. on it and it continuously does this on a regular basis.help!!!!!! *js
2007 toyota tundra crewmax 5.7 has serious vibration from 30-40 mph. when you let up on accelerator the problem ceases. if the transmission changes gears the problem goes away. dealership has driven the truck and can reproduce the problem. dealership says they cannot fix problem until "fix" is known. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota tundra. the contact stated that the brakes were depressed and the vehicle lunged forward abnormally. the contact also stated that while driving 45 mph and depressing the accelerator, a loud banging noise was exhibited from the engine area as the vehicle decelerated independently. on a separate occasion while the vehicle was attached to a trailer, the vehicle failed to shift out of third gear on and then failed to shift out of fourth gear later. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not repaired and the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 9,000 and the current mileage was 92,000.
Bought my tundra in 07 . in 09 of jan. i took it to toyota stating after braking it felt like being hit from behind. toyota replaced the driveshaft. in oct. of 09 it started all over again. took it back to toyota they said they replaced it once & would not replace it again & that it would keep having this problem. i've emailed toyota , called customer care they said its a characteristic of the tundra. i only have 42000 miles on truck. if i would of known this i wouldn't have bought it. they told me that the lemon law was only 2 years & that wouldnt help. where do i go from here. *tr
