Within 1 year of purchasing vehicle new the wheels started to show signs corrosion in the form of bubbling of the finish. we contacted our local dealer and they said it was due to road salt and me not cleaning them properly and i would have to pay to replace them. we took the vehicle back to the dealer shortly before the warranty ran out and again were told that it was our fault and we would have to pay to do something about it. we took it to the dealer one last time after the warranty and were told since the warranty was up they could do nothing for us. all 4 wheels are now corroded severely. large chunks of paint routinely fall off during washing. i'm worried about safety at this point and plan to replace the rims at my own expense. i've owned multiple cars with similarly coated alloy rims and have never had this issue before. it wasn't due to me cleaning them properly, it's a manufacturing defect. *tr
2006 toyota sienna seems to have an issue with driver side front door starting to deteriorate resulting in a popping sound coming out around the hinge in the middle while opening and closing the door. this seems to be a common issue and toyota seems to think this is due to corrosion or crack in the frame that holds the door. our concern is that if the popping sound can start occurring due to normal wear and tear use, this could result in bigger problem over time like excessive corrosion or crack could hinder the door unusable. the remedy that we have researched online seems to be replacing a door and making a hole on the inside edge of the door to allow the hinge to slide in and out more freely. this needs to be investigated and addressed appropriately. toyota has a tsb out for this but no recall. this should be a recall as unusable driver side door could be a major safety issue. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. the driver stated that while driving 10 mph in an attempt to increase speed, the vehicle began to hesitate and surge. the dealer stated that there was nothing they could do to assist him since the failure was electrical which was also a normal function of the vehicle. the failure mileage was 10 and the current mileage was 75,000. the consumer stated when slowing down between 5- 10 mph and then speeding back up again, the van would hesitate and then surge forward to the point of jerking the consumers neck. the vehicle would slow down once the accelerator was released. also, the drivers side door was exhibiting a popping/scrapping noise when it was being opened or closed. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed there was a recall regarding the thinness of metal which allowed the cracking of the metal where the door stop was attached to the door. updated 04/21/10
