We have classified the 84 complaints from 2004 Toyota Sienna about TIRES into the following categories.
On 2004 toyota sienna xle awd, it uses runflat tires (bridgestone b380) as standard equipment. i have to replace 1 at 5500 miles under normal road driving. at 29,000 miles, i have to replace all 4 tire due to excessive tread wear also under normal use. these tires cost 300% more compare to tires used on other sienna models. neither toyota nor their dealer advised of these issues but just say those tires cost $10 or $20 more and only available through dealers. these unexpected tire wear and cost cause me being stranded on i10 at 11pm where no help can be found and cost more than $100 of towing to a dealership. cost is one thing but less than normal tire lift expectancy caused safety issue when 1 or more tire unexpectedly malfunction or flat. tires are not warranted by toyota but tire company and bridgestone dealer were quick to blame alignment being the issue. my sienna has been taken care of by toyota dealer with all maintenance record kept and on schedule. *jb
Our 2004 toyota sienna xle has a low tire pressure indicator that appears to not work. we have personally let all but 10 lbs of air out of one of the tires and the light still does not go on. repeated attempts (3 as of this date) to have the dealer fix the problem have resulted in "opinion" from the dealership and no solution. we have asked for the sensor to be replaced, and the computer to be replaced to no avail. we are unsure that our vehicle is providing the level of safety that we assumed when we bought it. the latest statement from the dealer is that the car "...needs to be driven at least 50 miles in the low pressure condition for it to work properly". this does not make sense to us. are we expected to endanger the safety, and lives, of our children, by driving around for unreasonable distances in an unsafe condition for the vehicle's "safety" features to work? *jb
Premature wear (20,000 miles) on all 4 oem tires. vehicle: 2004 toyota sienna xle awd tires: bridgestone b380 run flat tires - 225/60r17. *jb
Went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation; and i was called back and told i needed all four tires replaced!!! with 24,000 miles on the car i could not believe that i have to spend $600 a 1 1/2 later after buying a new car!!! *nm
The run-flat tire on our toyota sienna awd went flat, requiring a replacement. unfortunately, out of all the tire stores, only the toyota dealer had a replacement tire in stock. every other place required a minimum of 5 days to get the tire. we were out of town at the time. what was interesting, was that when they replaced the tire, they said there was a gash in the sidewall -- it wasn't anything that was driven over. what i found more interesting was when i talked to my brother in al who has the same type of vehicle, he said that they had to replace a tire earlier in the year, because of a rip in the sidewall. *nm
2004 toyota sienna equipped with run flat tires. had tires put on by toyota on friday oct. 28. sunday oct. 30 while driving on highway had a tire blowout causing $2226.00 damage to car. pressure warning system did not work or was not set by toyota when tires were mounted on friday. if the pressure warning had been working we would have known there was a problem with the tire and had it fixed. not knowing there was a problem with the tire led to the tire blowing out. had van towed back to toyota and explained what had happened and they basically told us we had run over something and that we were going to pay for damage. toyota was unwilling to acknowledge any responsibility in this matter. *jb
Our 2004 toyota sienna has run-flat dunlop tires that are wearing prematurely at around 13000 miles. the problem is that the toyota dealership that services our car does not want to admit that there is a problem with these tires. this has prolonged our replacement of the tires which has put our family at risk for personal injury should the tires fail suddenly. we should have replaced the tires 1000 miles ago but did not because the toyota dealership would not tell us that they needed to be replaced after 3 service visits for issues related to the tires(most likely because of a fear that they would have to pay to replace them at such an early time). this is a national problem and these tires need to be recalled before you start to receive complaints associated with personal injuries and deaths. *jb
My wife and i purchased a 2004 toyota sienna limited awd with dunlop runflat tires as factory equipment. we currently have 19,700 miles on the vehicle and have been advised by our dealership that the tires are worn to the point that they all need to be replaced immediately. we have contacted both toyota and dunlop with no assistance from either source to date. it is a well known fact, stated all over the internet, that there are serious problems with these tires yet for some reason neither toyota or dunlop are being held accountable for the faulty and dangerous tires on these vehicles. apparently they are waiting for people to be injured or killed before stepping forward and taking responsibility! *jb
Have had three flat tires that had to be replaced on my 2002 sienna awd van with 11000 miles on it. the tires are the oem brigestone run-flat type. *nm
Dt: 2004 toyota sienna. the contact stated the tires tread wore at a very low mileage. these were the original tires on the vehicle. the tires have not been replaced at this time. there is approximately 21,050 miles on this vehicle. these are dunlop, sp4000t dsst. the contact noticed the wear on the tire last week, october 11, 2005, when the tires were getting their third rotation. *ak
2004 toyota sienna limited awd with dunlap run flat tires. vehicle is 18 months old with 16,000 miles. the vehicle began to have hard ride with increase road noise. taken to local tire center, 2 tires tread worn off, the other 2 significantly worn. advised that the tires were dangerous to cont to drive on. cost to replace tires approx $1300. no spare tire is provided, since the run flats are standard equipment. must then buy the same tire with the same problems. contacted toyota, they are unwilling to accept responsibility, dunlap was willing to prorate the tires, but still offers no warranty on new tires. review of the internet shows this is a common complaint. i think the run flat tires are a good idea, but i doubt they were actually tested to be sure that they are safe and effective. *nm
Tire pressure monitor not functioning properly- multiple times concerns of blowout. premature/uneven tire wear on run flat tires. self monitoring of air pressure and replacement of tires. *nm
Dunlop run flat tires made specially for 2004 and beyond toyota sienna wear out in less than 20,000 miles for numerous consumers after regular rotations and balancing. numerous reviews on www.tirerack.com from consumers complaining about the dunlop sp4000 dsst 225/60/17 tires wearing out after less than 20,000 miles. i just had to replace mine at a total cost of $1,300 - and there are no other tires that will work on this car since these tires were made specially for this car. *nm
2004 toyota sienna xle ltd awd purchased new with bridgestone b380 rft 225/60r17 tires. tires wear out prematurely. estimated mileage based on tread wear is 30k miles. we had a flat tire at 22,000 miles. to have even treads on all tires the dealer recommended to replace all 4 tires at a cost of $250/tire. this means is i have to spend $1000/year just to replace tires!!!*jb
Problem is with run flat tires on new 2004 toyota sienna mini-vans. ours is the xle ltd. awd. tires were substantially worn down at only 15,000 miles. tires are dunlop run flat p225/60r1798t m + s. new car dealer refused to address the problem. tires are very expensive and hard to find. i see there are many complaints on the internet re these tires on the new toyota sienna. *jb
2004 toyota sienna flat run tires have premature tread wear under normal riding conditions, my tires have exposed steel belts, toyota nor bridgestone will stand behind their product. *jb
Dt: the vehicle has run flat tires. there is a light on the dash board that informs the consumer when the tire pressure is low. this particular did not light up and one of the tires blew out on the inside of the tire. the vehicle is not equipped with a spare. the tire itself is not easy to replace because nobody carries these tires. the dealer has the vehicle even though these tires cannot be filled once they are in flat mode. this occurred on september 4, 2005. *ak *mr
Run flat tires are unsafe and tread wear life is extremely short. 2004 toyota sienna xle awd limited has oe dunlop sp sport 4000t dsst 'run flat' tires. car has 19,000 miles and all 4 tires are completely bald. car has been maintained by the dealer per manufacturers instructions. 'run-flat' cars do not have spare tires, jacks or tire well for storage, so there is no way to switch to regular tires without losing the rear cargo space. i cannot afford to lose this space as this is why i purchased this vehicle. new run flat tires will cost me well over $1100 per year at this tread wear rate. the combination of these tires with this minivan seems to be a serious problem. it poses a huge expense to replace these tires regular and is a serious safety hazard to a class of owners who generally have infants or young children. nhtsa should act to require toyota and dunlop to resolve this issue satisfactorily. *jb
2004 toyota sienna developed problems with the tires. ***no answer required***. *mr at 12,000 miles, the tires started to make a rumbling noise in the rear of the vehicle. upon inspection of the vehicle, it was determined the tires were showing signs of wear on the outside and the inside, 1/3 of the rear tires were cupping so bad that the tread was worn off in segments all around the inside edge, overall the tires were down close to the tread markers. the front of the vehicle was slightly out of alignment and was the cause of all the problems. the consumer also stated that the runflat tire had low air pressure due to the warning light illuminating. when the vehicle was taken to the dealer, he was told there was a nail in the tire and the runflat tire was un-repairable, however the owners manual stated the tire was repairable. the vehicle did not come equipped with a spare tire. *jb
Complaint regarding factory installed bridgestone tires on the 2004 sienna minivan.*mr the consumer noticed the tires were starting to show wear after 7,000 miles. when the vehicle was taken in for an oil change, the tires were rotated which was suppose to solve the problem, however the tires continued to show more wear. the consumer took the vehicle in for a second time for an alignment and it still didn't resolve the premature tire wear. the consumers wife could barely keep the vehicle on the road, as it was hydroplaning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the consumer was told the front tires were no good and they needed to be replaced. the rear tires had excessive wear as well. the consumer was told the tires did not have a warranty since the tires were made to the manufacturers specifications and they were not the normal tires that bridgestone sold from its dealers.*jb
We purchased a toyota sienna may 2003(2004 model), it has 20,696 miles and the front two tires are completely worn on the outside edge of the tire, the steel is even showing on one of them. the tires on the sienna are the bridgestone b380 p225/60 r17 98t these are run flat tires, was not aware of until today. i have done all routine maintenance on the car. i have spoken to the dealer, toyota, and bridgestone no one seems to be helping and excepting responsibility. it is not right that i am only getting that low mileage on theses tires and the fact that it cost so much to replace them. if i was aware of this at the time of purchase would not have bought it, one reason for buying it was the longevity and low maintenance of toyotas. even if i do not replace the tires with run flat tires the car does not come equipped with a spare, which would be an additional expense and then the spare would sit in the cargo space where i would not be able to fold the third row seat. *nm
I purchased a 2004 toyota sienna awd xle in april of 2004 equipped with dunlop sp sport 4000 dsst run-flat tires. after only 8900 miles on the vehicle i discovered i had a flat tire. i was told by two tire dealers that all four tires need to be replaced due to tread wear. after doing some research, i discovered this is a common problem with this tire model on the 2004 toyota sienna awd xle. toyota's response has been that the tires are warranted through the manufacturer and that i need to contact the manufacturer. the local authorized dunlop dealer has offered to replace the tires at $60/ea plus $15 installation/ea. however, i don't feel safe driving on these tires after reading all the incidences of tire failure. toyota is suggesting as an option that i convert to regular/conventional tires, which would also mean converting the vehicle to carry a spare and lose the space for the seventh passenger (the vehicle is currently not set up to carry a spare). i don't know yet how much this is going to cost me or if toyota will cover all or some of the cost. the national highway traffic safety administration should investigate and determine whether the dunlop sp sport 4000 dsst tires are safe or whether they should be recalled. *jb
Run flat tires on a 2004 toyota sienna xle limited awd fail/wear prematurely. need to be replaced at 12,000 miles. dealer will not compensate for expense. also, the vehicle does not come with a spare tire and this fact was not disclosed and in fact the vehicle de-caling was misleading. a decal on the passenger side door pillar indictes where the spare is loacted, but there is no spare on this vehicle. *jb
Uneven and premature wear on all 4 tires with progressively harsh and noisy ride on 2004 toyota xle limited awd minivan despite proper tire pressure and tire rotation. current mileage ~8,900 miles. *nm
Voids and peeling of tread on all four tires. it appeared as if there were large air bubbles trapped in the tread at manufacturing. this was noticed after having only 30,000 miles on tires. had to replace with all new tires due to mfg. defect. michelin only allowed 50% toward new tires. i was fortunate not to have been killed while driving with these tires. this has really emotionally upset me considering i had just driven from fl to nh with them. *nm
Run flat tires are unsafe. 2004 toyota sienna xle awd has oe dunlop sp sport 4000t dsst 'run flat' tires. car has 19,500 miles of moderate driving. dealer refused to rotate and perform alignment at 19,000 miles because tires were too worn. referred to dunlop who elected to do nothing. now, at 21,500 cords are visible on inside edges of front tires. a. the only available replacements (from tirerack.com) are $845 plus mounting and balancing ($142). b. 'run-flat' cars do not have spare tires, jacks or tire well for storage, so there is no practical way to switch to regular tires. c. dealer says that toyota will sell a kit that includes a mini-spare. requires reconfiguring rear of van. result means that there is no more storage well under rear seats. toyota will not give the kit to affected owners. they sell it for $1,300. d. a decision to stay with (and replace) the 'run flats' means an out-of-pocket expense of ~$1,000 every year. e. if toyota abandons the 'run flat' consumer is absolutely victimized. f. if the suspension is a culprit, it is a serious safety hazard to a class of owners who generally have infants or young children. nhtsa should act to require toyota to issue recall and retrofit all affected siennas with standard tires and the components to fix flats!. *jb
Tires were wearing out quickly; they had about 22,000 miles on them. i consulted with dealer regarding rotation and was told that one tire was worn enough to require replacement. i asked for them to do so and the technician went away. he later returned to me waiting and told me that the tires were "run flats" and required all four to be replaced. i asked about replacing with regular tires since run flats cost about $1350. it was at t hat time i was told there was no room for a spare. i decided that was ridiculous and had tires replaced with regular tires. i had to purchase an extra wheel and have it stored on the top of the van! this information should be provided to consumers up front before purchase! i will never buy a car that has run-flats again! its a total rip-off!!*jb
Dt: the contact owned a 2004 toyota sienna all wheel drive. all the tires had to be replaced at 14842 miles. the vehicle was taken to the dealer because one tire was damaged, and they said all the tires worn out and needed to be replaced. the tire that was damaged had a hole in it, and it was a flat tire. the tires were regularly serviced. the tire manufacturer was dunlop , line is 225/60r17, odi # 3dt00004279-du. searched on the internet and saw many similar complaints. *ak *jb
On a 2004 toyota sienna awd (1) regular driving and normal preventitive maintenance led to 14k miles before oem run flat tires were bald and unsafe (2) car steering was affected with a distinct pulling to the left (3) dealer replaced tires but indicated that run flat tires (either bridgestone or dunlop) will continue to wear quickly
I only have 18,000 miles on my 2004 toyota sienna and my run-flat tires are bald and have been advised not to take my vehicle out on a highway. from all the complaints out there, these tires should be recalled and a class-action suit against toyota (who is trying to wash their hands of the whole situation) and dunlop should be filed. toyota makes it sound like an advantage to have these on their $40,000 vehicle, and then their service department tells me now that some people are getting only 10,000 miles out of these terribly expensive tires and offers to sell me new non-run-flat michelin tires for almost $800. this doesn't seem right and think something legal needs to happen before toyota will do the right thing. btw, tire pressure readings and rotations were done on a regular basis.
Toyota sienna (2004+) awd models use run-flat tires since no spare tire is provided by toyota. these run-flat tires are defective in that they wear out exceedingly fast. mine are nearly worn out at 17k miles on my 2004 sienna. at a equipment and labor replacement cost of ~ $1600 for all 4 tires, this is unacceptable. if you search the internet, this is a well known problem with the siennas using run-flats. tires should not cost me $100 per 1000 miles driven. secondary issue with the tires is the safety. i have not experieced this problem, but other owners are stating that if the tire is cut, that it needs to be replaced immediately. because run flats are new, there are hardly any places in the u.s. that stock these tires, let alone having the special equipment to install them. you'll see many owners have resorted to buying regular tires for their siennas, then purchasing a spare tire and throwing it into the back of their van. this takes away from the utility of the van a great deal, since storage is a primary selling point of minivans. please investigate this issue. tires should last ~40k miles, and since these run flats are so expensive, replacing every 15k miles puts a huge cost on the owner that toyota never warned new owners. i would expect toyota to cover replacement cost of these tires until a suitable replacement is developed, or find a way to use regular tires and store the spare somewhere on the vehicle without taking up the advertised passenger storage space. thank you for your support and assistance, -brian armer
A nail punctured the passenger front run-flat tire on our 2004 toyota sienna awd. tire pressure sensor did not illuminate. tire then unknowingly driven roughly 100 miles and subsequently had to be replaced due to uneven wear. vehicle was less than one year old. dealership refused to cover any damages, in fact, no support from toyota whatsoever. tires lasted approximately 20,000 miles before all four had to be replaced. again, no dealer support. purchased in oct 04 from reinhardt motors (montgomery, al), with continued lack of support from rich hendrick toyota (fayetteville, nc). *nm
I live in vt. purchased 2004 toyota sienna awd le from courtesy motors from courtesy toyota, 267 fisher rd, berlin, vt 05602. i was informed that the car was sold with runflat tires and that i could not get the car with regular tires. i agreed. i was not told that these runflat tires would wear out in 6,000 miles. i was not told that a tread puncture could not be fixed by plugging (which a burlington, vt, toyota dealer later told me after we ran over a bolt (dlr said we had to buy a new tire, of course) - however, when we went to a tire co. they were able to fix it). i was not told that runflat tires cost near $300/each. if i had been told that, i would never ever have bought this vehicle with runflats. i'm now told by toyota dealer that i cannot put regular tires on the runflat rims. however, i'm told by tire warehouse that they can put regular tires on these rims. my complaint is that toyota and the dealer deliberately mislead me into purchasing a car with runflats while neglecting to inform me of info that would have resulted in the loss of a sale for them. it is ridiculous that i've spent $30,000 on a new car that has tires that, at the current 11k miles, i am told by several tire service companies in burlington, vt, are unsafe to be driven on. i do not have $1200 to replace these tires. it is ridiculous to think any consumer would pay so much for tires. i have complained to toyota cust svc twice. i want 4 new replacement rims with 4 new tires on them, or the $ to buy them. there are class-action suits in more than one state right now, i believe. i was referred to this site by www.carsurvey.org. *nm
1. run-flat tires get flat significantly more often than regular tires. 2. the low pressure light does not always go on when the tire is flat and off when the tire is not flat. 3. the tires get worn out after around 12k highway miles and are expensive to replace. 4. most of the shops do not have the equipment to handle the tires. specialized places have to wait long to order the tires. *nm
Consumer bridgestone tires showed wear at 7000 miles. *ts the consumer contact three bridgestone dealer and they indicated that the liability should be with toyota motor company. toyota was called and they to the consumer to seek reimbursement or other remedies from bridgestone (bridgestone turanza el42. ). *nm
All four dunlop sp sport 4000t dsst run-flat tires on my 2004 toyota sienna xle awd are completely worn after 13,800 miles. these are original tires. both toyota and dunlop do not want to take any responsibility for this issue despite the numerous complaints being made here and elsewhere reported in depth in the internet. a reasonable consumer would expect that these tires would be engineer to last more than 10k miles given they are each $300 a piece. please assist me and numerous other toyota owners with similar problems by conducting a defect investigation and ultimately assisting in a formal recall of these tires and the associated problems causing the tire failures. i am afraid that replacing the tires every year at a cost of $1400 won't solve the problem which appears to have some relationship to vehicle alignment issues as well as poor tire longevity.
Premature tire wear leading to unsafe driving conditions.
Run flat tires on my 2004 xle limited awd. no spare tire, no place designed in vehicle to put a spare tire without giving up ability to flatten seats, tires that wear out every 18-20,000 miles, cost $1200 to replace every 18k miles, and unsafe to drive on. two flat tires on one trip from brentwood, ca to los angeles (300 miles). *jb
I was 60 miles from home and my bridgestone run flat tire blew on my 2004 sienna. the vehicle required towing because the run flat didn't do the job it was supposed to.(you're supposed to be able to drive 100 more miles at 60mph) i drove 11 miles and the tire was down to the rim. my toyota dealer said these tires are only rated for 20,000 miles but i'm only at 17,000 when the mishap happened. the tires are over $300.00 a piece. now all 4 tires are wearing on the inside due to the awd so i am told. buyers beware!!!!!!!
I have a 2004 toyota sienna all wheel drive vehicle. in june of 2005 my tires had to be replaced. i had approx. 20,000 miles on the car. the tires were run flats. it would have cost me over $1,100.00. then i go ahead and buy regular tires and find out that there is no where to mount a spare tire on the car. so now i am driving around with no spare tire in my car. toyota claims this is an isolated incident but now i am finding out that is not true. *nm
Run flat tires are worn completely at 19000 miles.catastrophic failure lilely to occur if not replaced. serious liability issues for bridgestone and toyota imo.
Dt: the consumers vehicle did not have a spare tire. the consumer experienced a blow out on a tire that was not suppose to go flat. the dealer said it would take a few days to get a new tire. manufacturer advised the consumer to call the tire manufacturer. dunlop tire was not helpful. the consumer said no one was qualified to fix that kind of tire, and no one carried it in stock in his area. dunlop run flat tires #sp4000, pooh/. *ak the vehicle was equipped with run flat tires, however when the consumer attempted to drive on the tire, it blew out. the consumer stated it was obvious one could not drive 100 miles on the tire as stated in the owners manual. *jb
On 06/09/2005, we noticed that our 2004 toyota sienna awd-xle had a flat tire on the driver's side rear. the tire was noticeably flat and we limped to a service station to inflate the tire. the tire had zero tire pressure and a massive hole between the treads where you could feel/hear the air escaping as it was being filled. the tire had 0 psi/tire pressure. the dunlop sp sport 4000 run-flat tires came standard on our 2004 sienna. we went to the dealership where we purchased the vehicle, have had service completed and tires rotated as required. our van is 10 months old and has 13,800 highway miles. the dealership said they did not have the matching tire in stock and would work to find one. the assistant store manager said they had not seen any run-flats with flats. later that day, the dealership called and said they had a deal for me. they were able to get the toyota rep to give us 4 brand new tires for free, except they needed to keep the vehicle the weekend until the tires arrived. when asked why? and if there was a problem with the other tires, i was told that they had worn down to a level that would barely pass a new york state inspection. after doing some research on-line, it is clear that the 2004 toyota sienna awd-xle and other versions, are in serious jeapordy due to tire failure. the vehicle had been driven for a day, in excess of 50 mph, without knowledge of the catastophic tire failure on the run-flats, and there was no indicator light ever activated. the dealership will be getting a print out of this website's related search results and toyota will be contacted for a complaint. we realize we are fortunate to get 4 new tires at no charge, but the issue is safety, not appeasement. please help.
I own a 2004 toyota sienna le awd with dunlop sp sport 4000t dsst tires and the tires are a huge safety risk. i have less that 15,000 miles on them and parts of the tires are worn right down to the belt. after reading posts online it appears that this is a not an isolated incident. any tire that cost over $300.00 should not wear down to the point where they can cause a blow out before they even reach 15,000 miles. it's not like these are on a sports car doing burnouts. this is a minivan. my wife and 3 children ride in this van and they have the nerve to put this safety hazard on the road. toyota and dunlop should be ashamed of themselves. i am still talking to toyota at this point but listening to other people with the same problem it doesn't appear that i am going to get anywhere with them.
Dt: the contact was not aware that vehicle had a flat tire, but no spare tire. he was not informed before purchasing the vehicle that there was no spare tire. he was told he had a doughnut for use in case of a flat, but one was not included. the dealer was unable to answer questions about the tires. the manufacturer of the tires told him they have written letters to car manufacturers to tell consumers there was no spare tire. he wanted to replace the damaged tire only, but the vehicle manufacturer told him all the tires have to turn at the same rate , and that was why he could not replace only one tire. *ak
We had a tire blow out through the sidewall recently. we drive a 2004 toyota sienna le fwd with dunlop sp sport 4000 a/s tires installed as oem. we had just barely passed 26,000 miles when we had a side wall blowout on the driver side rear tire while travelling app. 70 mph on the highway in south carolina. i pay attention to tire pressure and teadwear, so the tire that blew should have been inflated properly, and in this case i had already begun thinking about getting new tires because the tread was approaching the wear bars. this is a very poor-performance tire, and i'm amazed toyota made a corporate decision to put these tires on their sienna "family vans." dunlop should be embarassed to even attempt to sell them.
2004 toyota sienna all wheel drive le-bridgestone b380 run flat tires are rated from the manufacturer for up to 50 miles distance after going flat while toyota claims that the vehicle can be driven for up to 100 miles after going flat.
2004 toyota sienna all wheel drives have a suspension or drivetrain issue that causes tires to wear to chords on inside edges in 10 to 15,000 miles.vehicle came with runflat, bridgestones br380runflats and dealer replaced at 9,000 miles due to severe wear with2256017dunlops,now at 28,000 no tread left inner, and require replacement again after 9 months of driving obviou sly problem is not the manufacter of tire but something in deseign of truck or awd system, toyota should recall, this issue cost approx1400.00 in tires for one set and apparently will only last a year, toyota should be accountable for this tire wear issue issue and either retrfit vehicle a suspension drivetrain fix that will not wear tires,it should be noted that i have 2 of the same vehicle with exact same problem,on both toyota replaced the 1st set of tires at under 11,000 miles and basically said too bad it's not toyota problem by the time 2nd set were worn 10,00 mies later.
Toyota sienna runflat tires wear to rod by 16,000 miles... started to hear noise in front end tires. a little pull to left .very jittery at 55+mph.. pressure seemed ok- so took to mechanic. he said "run-flat" tires completely worn down to rod.. but go try dealer since only 16,900 miles. called toyota said not their responsiblity- tire co.'s wouldn't even help locate specialty tire shop for special oem dunlop oem (run-flat tires). toyota guy admitted though (on the side) that it may be run-flats as getting many complaints. web indicates many of same experiences at @15-20,000 miles. an accident waiting to happen. they should be recalled immediately before a family gets killed. needless to say we are replacing with regular tires- no fun-flats. this technology may not be ready for prime time and every one is making it oem already. thanks.
I would like to report unexpected tread degradation on my 2004 sienna xle limited awd. at 17k miles the tires needed replacing. *nm
