Toyota rav4 makes popping and clunking noise when steering wheel is turned. this is due to looseness in the intermediate shaft splines and joints (total cost:$468; part numbers 45221-42071 [steering intermediate shaft] and 45260-42090 [steering shaft assembly]). this is a potential safety hazard and toyota refuses to issue a recall. it is a product defect in steering intermediate shaft as evident by the tsb issued by toyota. *tr
I have a 2006 toyota rav4 with 33,167 miles. the ignition key is about to fall apart. all the covers for the push buttons on the key are falling apart. this just started about a month ago. i went to the dealer and i was informed the key was not covered under warranty and would cost $250.00 to replace. *tr
Clunking sound in the steering column, chipped paint on the hood, and a jumbled radio screen. radio fixed, steering column ongoing, paint still chipping. *tr
After market metal tire pressure indicator valve cap (unknown mfg) froze on all four toyota 2006 rav4 tpms valve stems due to dissimilar metal corrosion. unable to check tire pressure or remove without damaging toyota tpms resulting in $125 per tire plus labor to repair for a total of $680. *tr
2006 toyota rav4, toyota has determined and issued a repair procedure for the fresh air ventilation inlet area as the source of the leak however has not fully disclosed or addressed the potential for mold or mildew growth that may be present as result of the failure. i am forwarding this complaint to your attention as a concern for all 2006 rav4 owners that as a result of this leak could harm occupants that have respiratory diseases.*jb
