I want to voice my concern about a recent experience with the rear seat belt in our rav4. my 5 year old son, while in his car seat( attached via the latch system), pulled the adult seat belt down (since it was not being used for his car seat) and looped it around his head. we could not remove the seat belt from his head because the seat belt did not release. the belt kept tightening and we had to cut the seat belt to avoid him being strangled to death. the belt left marks on his neck for a day but he was uninjured. *tr

I have 2006 rav4 with 62,800 miles on it. the seat belts do not retract properly and some times they do not hold the body tight enough when in locked position. i called up the dealer (northway toyota dealer, latham, ny) and he says there would be charges to look at this problem at the rate of $94 an hour. i was under the impression that safety related items like seat belts should be taken care by the manufacturer free of cost. *tr

The bolt holding the lower part of the driver's seat belt to the vehicle (bottom part of "b" pillar) became detached, leaving seat belt attached only at upper mounting point. seat belt was rendered inoperable. it appears that the bolt was not tightened during the assembly of the vehicle. *jb
