We have classified the 65 complaints from 2006 Toyota Corolla about ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING into the following categories.
Purchased 2006 corolla in feb 2006, in august of 2007 car stalled while driving, engine light came on,steering locked up. brought it to toyota dealer, replaced ecu, waited 1month because of backorder of part. january 2010 car stalled while driving, engine light came on, steering locked up, took to toyota dealer , ecu replaced for the second time, this time i had to pay for the replacement. *tr
Driving on the road and my accelerator didn't work. the engine was still on but when i pressed on the accelerator it didn't register that i was pressing the foot. towed to toyota dealer and they said that some ecm - engine control components were defective and they replaced the engine computer. didn't think it necessary to do a recall because it was only in some cars. *cn
Prior to january 1, 2010 started hearing squealing noise coming from engine. at regular maintenance intervals brought to the attention of service departments and was told this was not unusual due to moisture build up on belts. accepted explanation at toyota dealerships. noise continued to get worse so took in again on january 17, 2010 - mileage @ 50,496. tensioner assy. was replaced (not under warranty) @ a cost of $368.18. a couple of days later the same noise returned. continued to bring to the attention of service department at regular maintenance interval 3/27/10-mileage @53,192 and they could not duplicate the noise i was hearing. noise continued and got worse - took back to dealership on 8/16/10-mileage @58,411, again they could not duplicate the noise? noise continued every day - all the time. took back to dealership on 11/26/10 - mileage @61,521. they replaced tensioner assembly @ no cost and was told my timing chain tensioner was leaking oil and the belt tensioner was leaking too? what the [xxx]? service manager suggested i call 1-800-331-4331 to file a complain, i did so on 11/29. case #[xxx]. i was told the tensioner assembly (3 year/36,000miles) was not under warranty at the initial repair and the timing chain repair is not under warranty either (5 year/60,000 mile) which will cost me $173.00. my point here is that taking into consideration all the recalls for toyota vehicles -- toyota can't possibly hold the consumer to the warranties they have in place. it is apparent to me that the parts are defective and i don't feel i should have to pay anything for these repairs. as of today, i am still hearing the same noise when i crank my car from the tensioner assembly just replaced on 11/26. toyota should reimburse me for all the defective parts/labor/and my personal time/mileage to get this repair done and the repair to the timing chain should be at no cost to me. there should be a recall on this too. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b
While driving on a local street my check engine light came on, within seconds there was no fuel (power) to drive. i pressed the gas pedal to the floor but the car would not go more than 5rpm, going less than 5 mph, then car just shut off. this happened in less than 20 seconds. i tried to re-start the car but with no luck. i was able to put the car in neutral and with help push the to local repair shop, they diagnosed it as faultcode p0607 aka "bad ecm". the mechanic called the local toyota dealer and they towed the car to there shop since it was covered under warranty of 8 yrs and/or up to 80,000 miles. however the part was not in stock so i had to wait 2 days. i was out of a car for a total of 3 days and my local repair shopped charged $109.00 for diagnosed the car. lucky for me toyota dealer was no charge because it was still under warranty 8 yrs, or 80,000. my car had 71,260, however i am still not happy because i could have been badly injured if i was on a highway and this had happen, or i could have hurt someone else. i am not pleased that i was without a car for 3 days and incurred travel expenses and had to pay my local repair shop $109.00 which i feel toyota should cover. there should be a recall for this issue as it can be fatal. *tr
I was driving my 2006 toyota corolla ce on the freeway at 65 mph when the engine suddenly turned off. i was able to coast to the shoulder to avoid getting into an accident. i had the car towed to the toyota dealer and they replaced the ecm unit and reset the check engine light. the dealer kept the old ecm unit and did not charge me for the work which was under warranty. my car was 4 years old and only had 28150 miles on it when this happened. i found out that this was a known problem by checking out the toyotanation.com website. *tr
Driving home when check engine light came on and engine shut off while in a busy curve of a local street. lost power steering assist. created a safety hazard being that i was causing a traffic hazard in a curve. only able to start engine by holding gas to the floor, engine sounded like a lawn mower and ran barely over idle. made it home at about 10 mph. next day engine started but check engine light was still lit. drove to dealer, engine was surging and car shifted very hard. dealer found that the ecu or computer had failed and replaced it under the emissions warranty. this is the second time that this computer has failed on my vehicle. first time was at 25,939 miles on 08/15/07 and they replaced the same engine computer this time my wife was driving the car in traffic and it did the same thing. current incident happened on 12/28/09 with 48,874 miles on vehicle. i can see that this could have been a more serious safety issue if we had been pulling out into traffic when the computer failed. *tr
12/26/2009 my toyota corolla just stopped suddenly as i was driving all idiot lights came on and the car would not move. i was lucky that i had not entered highway in central pa with interstate truckers usually moving at 80mph.i would be dead. the car just completely came to an immediate halt. my car was brought to a local reapir shop who told us it was a computer failure and we had to take it to toyota.called toyota said they were unaware of the problem but we should have car towed and they wold look at it next day we were told the ecm had to be replaced but was under warranty.will pick up car today. how many people will die before nhsta acts . my family we would have died. *tr
2006 corolla stalls while driving on highway. i let the car rest for about 30 mins. and then i was able to drive again for about 20 mins. at which time it stalled again. the check engine light came on. issue turned out to be a bad ecm. *tr
Car stalling & rough engine idling caused by faulty engine intake manifold gasket. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. while driving approximately 10 mph the "check engine" warning light illuminated on the instrument panel, and then the engine stalled. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. the engine restarted after several attempts. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the throttle body was cleaned. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on a separate occasion. the failure was contributed to the electronic control module (ecm). the part was unavailable and ordered for the service repair. the failure mileage was 80,700. the current mileage was 80,900. the vin was unavailable.
I currently have a 2006 toyota corolla. it frequently shuts completely off. several times i was stopped at a stop sign or signal light and it dies. i put it into park and it does eventually start up again. my husband was entering the freeway, on the on-ramp, and the car died. this has happened throughout this year. *tr
2006 toyota corolla suddenly stalled in an intersection. fortunately no accident occurred but car was hard to restart and ran poorly. check engine and maintenance required lights came on. fault code showed p0607. had to be towed to dealer and ecu was replaced. dealer said they are busy replacing a bunch of these. *tr
2006 corolla 1.8l idling rough and about to die at intersection, but seemed to 'warm up' and didn't happen later that day. next morning same thing, but check engine light came on and has remained on. *tr
I own a 2006 toyota corolla, once driving on the road the vehicle suddenly stopped and when i took it to the dealer, they told me its a faulty engine computer and they have seen this in many cars and replaced my engine computer. i marginally escaped from being hit by cars coming behind me. i don't want this issue to cause any accidents in the future for people who are still driving old version of engine computer and if possible toyota should replace the old version of engine computer with new version. *tr
After starting a 2006 toyota corolla with approximately 26,000 mileage and leaving parking garage, car lost power without warning. after turning key off, was able to restart on third try. with the restart, the check engine light came on. drove home without incident and made appointment with toyota dealer. was able to restart car to take to dealer and in trying to complete the 10 miles or so on low speed roads, the car repeatedly lost power until the 8th or 9th time when it would not restart. car was towed the last 2-3 miles. dealer said a newer firmware version was required. print-out said the ecm was replaced. this was done without charge and dealer was cooperative. the situation was dangerous and it was fortunate that the power loss was not on a high speed road. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. while driving in a parking lot the vehicle shut down without any prior warnings. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the engines computer was replaced under warranty. updated 11/17/09 *bf the failure mileage was 32336. the current mileage was 32340. the dealer found a code for an ecm malfunction. updated 11/18/09
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. the contact stated that her check engine light came on. a diagnostic test was performed by the dealer which listed code#p2716 pressure control d malfunction, internal failure inside the ecu. the manufacturer informed the contact that he would be responsible for paying $2,100 for the repairs. there were no related recalls or warranties. the failure mileage was 91,358.
Hello, i am writing to you in relation to a recent problem i had with my 2006 toyota corolla. the short story is that the car's engine died while driving and wouldn't restart. i had to tow the car to a toyota dealership where it was inspected and found that the electronic control module (ecm) had failed (error code p0607) and needed replacement. since the car is still relatively new, i was astonished to find that the "brain" of the car is out of order and has to be replaced. what's worse is that this problem could cause highly dangerous situations where the car's engine stalls in the middle of a highway while driving at 65 mph. many people complain about the same problem on the internet and describe such cases where either the car's engine dies in the middle of the road, or the car leaves people in the middle of nowhere and won't start at all (http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201631). toyota has issued a technical service bulletin about this problem: tsb eg042-07 (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/attachments/corolla-matrix/27763d1201041193-2006-obdii-code-p0607-06-corrolla-tsb.pdf). information on the internet suggests that faulty solenoids on the ecm board are causing the computer to go crazy. given the severity of the problem, i don't believe that toyota should be leaving all corolla and matrix drivers get stuck on the road before replacing the faulty parts. i believe that for any such road hazardous situations where the manufacturer acknowledges that faulty parts were installed should recall all affected models and replace them accordingly. since this is the first time such thing has happened to me, i am not sure what the procedures are but just wanted to let you know about my experience so that you decide what's appropriate. my concern is that car manufacturers should be proactive in such matters and not be passive and wait for something known to happen. thank you for your attention! *tr ognian voynikov mileage: 23,000
Driving behind dump truck rocks fell out of truck and punctured the unprotected ac condenser. then i lost ac during one of the hottest days of the year. lucky my newborn was not with me. what really tics me off is toyota knows about the problem and released it in there technical service bulletin ac002-06. which i'm just now finding out about on the internet. *tr
2006 corolla le engine computer module died without notice on july 18, 2009. there are numerous complaints about this computer dieing on the spot without notice. there needs to be a recall since this is dangerous if you are on the highway and it dies without notice. does there need to be a death involved or can you guys have a recall before it happens. you need to go on toyota nation and see all the complaints. *tr
I was driving on surface streets at approx 35 mph. the engine in my 2006 corolla just topped. i described it as "powered down." i was able to pull over to the side of the road. i turned it off, waited a second, then turned it back on. the car started. the check engine light remained on. i drove straight to the dealership. i was told it was the computer and the whole thing was replaced under warranty. the matter was handled on one day from incident to new computer. it ha not happened again. *tr
Going 45 mph, car suddenly cut off without warning, would not restart. had to be towed to dealership. was told that the ecm failed and the part had to be ordered. i purchased the extended warranty when i bought the car new, so this is covered. in speaking with the service manager at dealership, he indicated there was no recall on this part because it wasn't a safety issue! it is a safety issue! i was lucky there was very little traffic at the time my car died or i may have been rearended. i'm just lucky it didn't happen on the highway. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. the contact stated that the vehicle would stall intermittently without warning. the contact would have to wait 20-30 minutes before the vehicle would restart. the made several repairs to the vehicle and replaced several parts but to no avail. the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the computer wa reprogrammed. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.
I was driving to work at 8 am in the morning and noticed that the air conditioner started pumping out hot air. since that time my a/c has been dead. the vehicle is a 2006 toyota corolla le with 43,000 miles. *tr
My 2006 corolla with 40k decided to turn itself off while i was on the highway with our daughter in the car. we tried to make our way to the shoulder on i81s to return home and were almost prompted into an accident as a tractor trailer nearly rear-ended us. we had it towed to gault toyota in endwell, ny, and the service center mentioned that for our car this part would not qualify for under warranty coverage. (we bought the car used from a private owner) please help us to help avoid a possible disaster for another family. the experience was somewhat traumatic by experiencing an unexpected engine failure in traffic and trying to think in a crisis environment to try to weave from the left lane to the right of the driving lane in a decent amount of traffic. i was personally shaken up reliving the details and possible consequences for the next few days. we now must pay almost $900 for this dangerous ordeal. we are also going to send a letter to our senator. (senator libous r-binghamton) we are petitioning toyota to send us a part free of charge. thanks, michelle mickelson *tr
Updated: what we sent to toyota to nhtsa: please investigate part linked to trouble code: p2716 eg042-07 part? 2006 corolla with 40k decided to turn itself off while i was on the highway with our daughter in the car. we tried to make our way to the shoulder on i81s to return home and were almost prompted into an accident as a tractor trailer nearly rear-ended us. when my husband arrived he had a scan tool with him and the code p2716 came up. we then we had it towed to gault toyota in endwell, ny, and the service center mentioned that for our car this part would not qualify for under warranty coverage. (we bought the car used from a private owner but must acknowledge very poor service concern and helpfulness at this dealership. we were charged a fee to diagnose a part which had not been broken-the battery-and after that debacle gault acknowledged it was the eg042-07 part-the ecu pressure control solenoid and the our diagnosis of the trouble code p2716 was correct- fee paid to gault $58) gault toyota mentioned that the part is backordered and will take possibly until 7/07/09 to receive. please help us to get this part and possibly our $58 service fee which was charged. the experience was somewhat traumatic by experiencing an unexpected engine failure in traffic and trying to think in a crisis environment to try to weave from the left lane to the right of the driving lane in a decent amount of traffic. i was personally shaken up reliving the details and possible consequences for the next few days. we now must pay almost $900 for this dangerous ordeal. (for the ecu part) we have sent a complaint and request for recall for this item to the nhtsa (odi complaint #: 10273306) and have sent a letter to our senator. (senator libous r-binghamton) thanks and please send us the part to the following: part eg042-07 ...
The engine turns off completely with no power. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. while driving between 10-15 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle exhibited an erratic hard shift during acceleration. the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the failure was labeled as the pressure control solenoid. the component was replaced, but the failure recurred. the dealer performed diagnostic testing and they recommended that the engine computerized system be replaced under warranty. the vehicle has not been repaired due to the massive national back order for the part. the failure mileage was 69,500 and current mileage was 70,029.
2006 toyota corolla air conditioning condenser went out. toyota created a modification to the 2007-2009 models but won't offer a recall on 2006! *tr
Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin indicating that the a/c condenser is not properly protected the number for this report is ac002-06. additionally, the toyota has redesigned the corolla to correct this in 2007 by properly protecting the a/c condenser leaving the 2005-2006 customers in the dust. this problem appears to occur just outside of warranty. i discovered my condenser was not working (causing no air conditioning) 16 days after my warranty expired. i now live in the southwest and the type of heat experienced and lack of ac could be considered a health hazard. toyota refuses to replace the condenser and wants to charge customers the full $600 for replacement. *tr
2006 corolla stalled in morning rush-hour traffic. there was no warning, all power was lost. i was able to merge to side of road & eventually got the car started again. i drove to local dealership & they replaced the ecm; they said there was a service bulletin on it, but not a recall. (bulletin # eg042-07) have not had any other problems since new ecm (#89661-02k21) was installed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact crashed into another vehicle head on. the contact's head struck the steering wheel and he sustained injuries. the air bags did not deploy. the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was repaired. the contact also experienced a failure while driving approximately 60 mph. the vehicle began to decelerate and suddenly stalled. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that the engine control module would have to be replaced. the failure persisted after the repair. the engine control module was replaced three times before the failure was corrected. the approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
I stepped on gas pedal and car stopped. this happened three times in a couple of minutes. the car was towed to toyota. they fixed it immediately and stated in was a computerfailure. i was lucky to be in a parking lot. if on a highway i would be dead as the car died each time i restarted it and stepped on the gas. toyota dealer stated it was a computer failure. my friend has the same car and same year. same thing happened to her. diagnosis again computer failure. *tr
We live in florida and we lease a 2006 toyota corolla. the a/c went out. the service department told us a rock hit the condenser and put a hole in it. there is a tsb out on 2005-2006 corollas because of this problem. report number ac002-06 the service manager told us it is not under warranty. now toyota is telling us we have to pay $645 to fix it. we feel toyota needs to fix it. this is a persistent problem and design flaw. we need to have a recall. *tr
2006 toyota corolla, started car and drove approx. 10 mins. car stalled at intersection, in traffic. engine would crank but did not restart. approx 10 mins, the engine started for 1 min. stalled and would not restart. i was stuck in the right turn lane blocking traffic for almost two hours waiting for tow truck. cost me $80. to tow to garage, mech claims possible electronic component failure, left in shop for testing. *tr
My 2006 corolla abruptly turned off without warning while i was doing 65-70mph in freeway traffic. luckily i pulled over safely. the engine would barely start, but it ran rough/ very weakly and die. the car was not drivable, so it was towed to the dealer and fixed same day, under warranty. i was given a receipt that stated tsb (technical service bulletin) ego42-07. the receipt indicated that my car's ecm was replaced with a different ecm, i assume a more reliable one. i know from a co-worker that this is a common defect. this should really be a recall because what if i was passing someone on the highway or turning left! it could have been really, really bad. i wrote toyota a complaint, and got a generic response, but i think this should be a recall. i would have reported this earlier, but i just learned about nhtsa. thank you! *tr
My car stopped working while driving , i pulled over while coasting. i turned the key after stopping & it started back up and i started driving again and it stalled in the middle again. this happened a few times, and then i had it towed due to the hazard of being hit by someone. the problem was the computer had tied and was told that the computer failure is a common issue on these vehicles. luckily i was under warranty on this and was replaced for free. why is there no recall. also after this was fixed 2 days later intake manifold gasket went out. again it is a common problem with this vehicle according to a few dealers i talked as the part that is needed to replace is backordered as toyota is redesigning it. again no recall from toyota yet. i am liable to pay for the repairs even though it is an engine component. *tr
A/c condenser has leak caused by alleged rock striking. *tr
I was driving to work around 1:30 am on 5/02/2008 when the vehicle just quit running. the check engine light came on and then the engine shut down. i tried to restart the vehicle with no luck. i called my wife to come and get me so i could call a towing service to get the car home. i than connected the car to my personal engine scanner and pulled a trouble code p0607 control module performance. i looked online to see if anyone else had this problem and found that toyota has a technical service bulletin for no start condition. bulletin # eg049r. i contacted toyota the next day and had the car towed to the dealership so they could trouble shoot it. they told me what i already new. that the engine control module was faulty. they also said because my vehicle had 111,146 miles on it that it was out of warranty. i contacted toyota customer service to try and get them to repair it under goodwill since they have a bulletin out regarding faulty control modules. i was contacted on 5/8/2008 and told that toyota would not offer me any type of goodwill coverage because i didn't have any prior repair work done at the toyota dealer and i was beyond the normal warranty. i explained to them that i do all my own maint. on my vehicles since i am a mechanic by trade. they said they were aware of the bulletin but the still were not willing to offer any type of good faith warranty. my case number with toyota is 2008 0502 0992. after talking to a few local dealers i deal with i have found that they are replacing quite a few of these faulty processors under warranty. some dealers stock as many as 3 control units on the shelf at one time. my feeling is that they are warranting most of them people are not aware of the big picture. the processor is a $700.00 item. i wonder how many are really going bad. should this be a national recall? *tr
Vehicle stalls out when driving. dealer replaced computer, engine control module. *tr
The condenser on the vehicle for the air conditioning unit (model xrs 2006) is exposed and the air conditioning system has failed. i took the vehicle in for servicing, while still under manufacturer's warranty, and was denied the claim. i was told the repairs were not covered. when i inquired about the design, i was told " i don't design the vehicle, i am not responsible". *tr
In august 2010, i learned about corolla recall. therefore i called elk grove toyota(916-405-8000) to make an appointment but was informed to wait until i receive a notice from toyota motors usa. because i did not receive a letter from toyota, i have emailed them on october 19, 2010 requesting the recall letter. toyota motors replied stating my corolla engine control module was replaced on march 13, 2008. i do remember towing my car to elk grove toyota on march 13, 2008 because the engine will not start. i was told the engine needed new parts and because of warranty there will be no cost to me. my concern is: 1. according to the recall announcement made by the media stated that this defect could have been a serious matter because the vehicle could stop while driving. i was lucky because i was in a parking lot. 2. why did toyota take so long to announce this engine problem.?if my engine problem was similar to this recall, why did they take 2 years and 5 months to announce the recall? i know toyota has been penalized for their slow decision to recall the acceleration problem. but it seems that they continue to have problem making recall decision to ensure public safety. toyota has become too big too fast as stated in the media. i hope they will seriously consider consumer safety rather than their profit by becoming the largest auto manufacture in the world.
The engine on my 2006 toyota corolla has had an engine serge problem. when the car had about 26,000 miles on it, i had a couple of incidents where i would be stopped at traffic light with my foot on brake. the engine would serge up to 4rpms. it was all i could do to keep from hitting the car in front of me. i was so shook up, i called dealer and insisted they take car and check it out. they kept the car overnight, and by the end of the next day had diagnosed the problem. they told me it was my workboot. the gas pedal was so close to the break, that the edge of my boot was hitting the gas. i had a hard time accepting that, because i made a point to keep my foot on the break when the incident was happening. i haven't had another serge problem, but i did have a high idol problem. toyota replaced the computer chip free of charge. i thought that was great because i had 36,895 miles on car and my warranty had expired. i now have 53,000 miles on car and the high idol is getting bad again. the recent recall on gas pedal has me concerned. i believe the problem goes beyond the gas pedal. i am sending this email, to give you more data. hopefully, others will do the same. *tr
While driving my 2006 toyota corolla, the vehicle gasoline engine stalled without warning. i was able to pull over out of traffic with no incident. i have great concern for safety of others since i normally drive on the major interstates. i tried to restart but no results. vehicle had to be tolled to dealership. dealership explained that it was the ecm or the engine computer that failed. this incident is similar to nhtsa investigation, #pe05029 dated may 31, 2005, where gasoline/electric hybrid vehicles gasoline engines would stall. facts found that analysis of the warranty data indicated that over 97% of vehicles experiencing a gas engine stall resulted from an issue with the program logic in the electronic control module (ecm) system. major concern is safety on major interstates at high speeds and the vehicle stalling out with no warning. the other concern is that it cost me $1,229.69 to replace the ecm, plus $80.25 to have it tolled to the dealership. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. while driving 40 mph, the engine suddenly shut off and the fuel and temperature gauges displayed zero. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the main computer in the vehicle failed and the component could not be replaced until october. the vin and engine size were unavailable. the current and failure mileages were 18,000.
2006 toyota corolla le exposed condenser resulting in puncture which causes air conditioning to fail was fixed on later models but 2006 models need to be fixed otherwise a replaced condenser will be subject to the same problem repeatedly. *tr
My corolla is a 2006 with only 14,000 miles.the engine computer went out at 13,000 miles about 5 weeks ago. my car stayed in the shop at thomasville georgia toyota for two weeks. i got it back and drove it two weeks and it happened again. i cut it off and recranked it and took it to the dealer. they can't get it to do it again. they kept it another week and did nothing to fix it. i cannot even go on vacation or let my daughter take it to college for fear that it will break down again and leave her stranded on a desolate road in danger for her life. the dealer admitted they have a problem with this and i know it happened in 2001 corrollas also. the car is 14 months old with 14,600 miles on it.i want the car replaced or bought back.i owe around 13,000 on the car and they only offered me 11,000 on a trade in. yet they are selling one just like mine with more miles for 15,788.they are trying to rob me blind.this is very crooked dishonorable business practices. the car is useless to me to leave town and very dangerous because the car gets very hard to steer and will barely run 2 mph. please help me. i bought the car new for my daughter. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla le. the vehicle began to stall intermittently after it was started. the contact stated that the failure occurred four times. when the failure occurred he stated that there were no prior warnings. the failure was not diagnosed by the dealer. while driving approximately 55 mph with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle shifted gears "like a rocket". he noticed that the check engine light was on and the vehicle began to shifted with extreme resistance. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the failure. the dealer performed a diagnostic test and replaced the ecm on september 17, 2009. he referenced recall 10v384000, engine and engine cooling and was advised by the manufacturer and the dealer that his vehicle was not part of the recall. the failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 64,002.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota corolla. the contact stated when initially starting the vehicle in temperatures less than 70 degrees, the vehicle would stall. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however he was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the current and failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
I came home on 8/25/06 at 12:30am, driving about 15 miles home from the restaurant, and parked the car in my apartment complex. at approximately 5:30am the vehicle broke into a fire, and was burnt to the ground. the flames completely engulfed the car. my insurance investigator said that the fire started in the engine, and worked it's way around the driver side of the car. have notified toyota, and have a claims ticket with them, but getting them to return any phone calls has been completely unsuccessful at all. *nm
