Traveling from ri to western ny. departed ri in am with moderate rainfall when "eyesight disabled" indicator flashed several times over the course of half hour. when rain subsided, indicator disappeared. several hours later, was driving 65-70mph on straight section of major interstate with good visibility, approaching a highway overpass when "obstacle detected" warning appeared despite no obstacle in road, and shortly thereafter car went into a slow spin (felt as if floating) towards left, striking a guardrail underneath the overpass head-on and continuing to spin 360 degrees at which point i was able to recover control of the car. it felt as if brakes had engaged (? crash imminent braking system) although i did not have foot on brake pedal and i did not attempt to brake while in the spin as i feared rolling the vehicle. despite extensive front end damage, airbags did not deploy. had to leave the vehicle in albany, ny and currently awaiting evaluation by insurance adjuster. of note, 5 months earlier the windshield had cracked when hit with small rock and was replaced at subaru dealership where the vehicle was purchased.
Passenger airbag was off with passenger on seat. it corrected itself for a while and now is off whether there is or isn't a passenger aboard.

The passenger side seat registers that no one is sitting in the seat and it disables the airbag system. someone can be sitting in the seat buckled up and then it will randomly pop-up with a warning message that there is an airbag issue and that no one is sitting in the seat.
When driving with no one in the passenger seat and sometimes when there is someone in the seat i get an srs airbag fault but it never stays on after i shut down the suv. sometimes when i restart the suv after about 5 minutes it will come back on and it stays on until i shut off the suv. then nothing for weeks. i've wanted to take it to the dealer but every time i start to head over to then the fault goes out or never comes on? i'm sure if i just head over i'm just wasting my time. the last two months it's been much more active with the fault happening. i'm listing the last time it has happen as 01/10/2020. i keep nothing on the passengers seat and i am unsure if the air bag light (yellow light on the dash) shows that it is on or off when it comes on. my wife was driving about a week ago and i was in the passenger seat (6' 225 lbs) and the srs fault come on and the yellow airbag light showed it was still on. i have a trip to pittsburgh pa from allentown ...
Passenger side air bag came on with no passenger in the seat. it would happen with the vehicle stationary or moving. sometimes it would reset on its own but after a few days the complete airbag system warning has come on and won't go away. found out online that it is common problem with the subaru forester and the manufacturer needs to put to task as they are definitely not doing enough and are playing with the lives of people. when i contacted a local dealership (subaru of grapevine) they outright wanted money for diagnosing a problem they knew was preexisting. this clearly reflects the attitude of the dealership and the manufacturer towards this serious issue.
2015 subaru forester. the passenger seat front airbag sensor is malfunctioning. the dashboard displays 'passenger airbag off' when someone is sitting in the seat. this appears to be related to a malfunction of the seat pressure sensor. when no person is sitting in the passenger side front seat, the airbag light says it is on. on the dashboard a red warning light indicating an issue with the airbag is constantly lit. so, in summary: when i start the car, this indicator turns on: srs airbag system needs to be checked passenger airbag remains "off" even person sits on the passenger seat. this happens when car is stopped or moving while the car is started.
Recall notice via us mail, also read about another recall that will be coming, i believe the boxer engine.
Nhtsa recall 19v-701 (subaru recall wum-98) includes only foresters with seat heaters manufactured from 1/20/15 - 8/1/17. my forester was manufactured on 6/6/18 and is not currently included. page 3 of product campaign bulletin wum-98r revised 11/20/19 (copy attached) states if the date code on the front passenger seat cushion wiring harness is 18074 (74th day of 2018) or before and the supplier code is 6578, "the harness is ng and the seat cushion assembly must be replaced". as you can see from the attached photo (img_1295), the date code on the harness label in my vehicle is 18019 (19th day of 2018), the supplier code is 6578, and the subaru part number (64084sg020) matches the part number on the defective harness label on page 3 of wum-98r. also, how can the cut off date for defective wiring harnesses (74th day of 2018) be 7 1/2 months after the last recalled vehicle was produced on 8/1/2017? what happened to all the defective wiring harnesses made in that 7 1/2 month period ? after several emails to subaru customer service, subaru still refuses to admit that the wiring harness in my ...
