The car occasionally acts like it going to stall , primarily when turning left at traffic signals. the accelerator has to be pushed hard to overcome the approximately 1- 1.5 second delay before the car starts to accelerate. this has caused near collisions on several occasions. the engine stop button was activated to prevent engine stopping at car idle.
Often, but not always, mostly when turning left from a stop as at a traffic light the car will hesitate and lose power and speed. then i try to accelerate and the car surges forward too fast. i feel that i am going to stall in the intersection.
On several occasions while driving on the highway, my eyesight feature suddenly disengages and my cruise control ceases to work and no lane assist or other safety features contained with the "eyesight package" work for extended periods of time. this has occurred when it is raining or snowing.
I was driving on the high way for about 2 hours, 70 mph, gas was at about 1/8 full, but low gas light on. the gear shifter remained in d and the indicator on the dash said d. the engine revved as if it were in neutral and would not provide power to the wheels. the check engine, traction control, and cruise control lights came on, along with possibly others. the car began to slow since it was just revving in what appeared to be neutral while the gas pedal was pressed. eventually i made it to the shoulder. i turned the car off for about 15 seconds then started it again. it struggled to start for a moment like the battery was low or it was cold outside, but still started on the first try. i shifted into d and began to move on the shoulder, but when the car when over about 10 or 15 mph, it would rev and not provide power to the wheels. i had the car towed to the dealer where they added gas, test drove it, said there was nothing wrong, and nothing that they could do.
On a long trips (200 miles of interstate driving) the car loses it's ability to maintain highway speed. the accelerator peddle does not work and vehicle slows down to idle. you have to pull off the road and stop. put the car in park and then back in to drive. it works after that. during the failure you lose all ability to maintain speed. it has happened about 3 times in the past year. the dealer checked out the car and not codes are shown. thanks, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm
At/about 1230 central time on 31 oct 2019, my wife [xxx] experienced an uncommanded acceleration event in our 2014 subaru forester and narrowly escaped being killed. context: my wife was taking the car through an automated carwash at the caseys gas station at 9911 s. 71st st in papillion ne. when she reached the end of the conveyor belt and when signalled by the attendant to move forward, she stepped on the brake and attempted to move the automatic transmission from n (neutral) to d (drive). she encountered resistance moving the gear lever but was able to move it to d. upon doing so, the car abruptly accelerated and lurched forward despite her foot remaining on the brake. the car rapidly accelerated and tore through the closed garage door at the end of the carwash and continued outside, across an access road and up a small hill, before losing power and rolling backwards down the hill to stop in the access road. no other vehicles or persons were involved or injured. my wife was uninjured other than being sprayed by glass fragments from the windshield as it was punctured by the garage door as the car ...
2017 subaru forester. consumer writes in regards to unintended acceleration. *ld the consumer stated while attempting to park the vehicle, it accelerated in reverse. the vehicle drove over a curb and crashed into a tree. the brakes were inoperable. the key was removed from the ignition in order to bring the vehicle to a stop. the airbag did not deploy. *js
My mother was pulling her car out of the garage when it suddenly accelerated & shot down the driveway, across the street, thru the neighbor's house and landed in their backyard. the car just missed my father in the driveway and the neighbors in their house. the insurance adjuster said the car was airborne when it went thru the front door based on the damage to the front door & the skid marks on the tile in the hallway. the air bags didn't deploy. the car is a total loss. a few months prior to this my mother was parking the car when it suddenly accelerated. it crossed the sidewalk at the store & hit another car. at the time she thought that her foot must have slipped off the brake. my father drove it a few weeks after that & said it wanted to accelerate while he was stopped at a red light with his foot on the brake. the failure mileage was approx. 72,000.
The vehicle accelerates/lurches forward every time when coasting or slowly braking from around 30mph to a stop. there is a normal predictable reduction in speed until the car reaches 15 to 16 mph, at which point it accelerates/lurches forward. it feels as if the transmission was suddenly shifting and creating more power. the severity of the acceleration while fluctuates wildly. in one instance while slowing approaching a stop light the car severely accelerated forcing me to have to slam on the brakes to compensate and prevent the vehicle from crashing into the car in front of us waiting at the stop light. the car came to a stop approximately 20 feet in front of where we would have stopped under normal conditions. the vehicle had less than 100 miles on it when the most severe of these instances occurred. on another note the car has trouble coasting. it decelerates abnormally fast when you take your foot off the gas.
2014 subaru forester. consumer writes in regards to battery being drained abs fault light being illuminated. *ld the consumer stated multiple failures began after having safety recall wue-90 performed on the vehicle. the vehicle's battery repeatedly would drain due to the tail light being illuminated with no apparent cause. the hill control warning light, abs warning light, and the anti skid warning lights all illuminated. occasionally, the vehicle would not accelerate when depressing the brake pedal. *js
