Recently reported STEERING problems on 2012 RAM 2500

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ram 2500. while driving 20 mph, the tie rod on the vehicle fractured. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and towed to galeana's van dyke dodge (28400 van dyke ave, warren, mi 48093). the dealer diagnosed that the toe in was faulty. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 42,000.

Speed about 20 mph with no throttle, power steering and brakes stopped working. a few seconds later the steering and brakes worked again. if the steering and brakes did not start working again this could have caused the vehicle to crash into another motorist.this is not the first time this has happened.

Truck got the death wobbles on freeway at full speed almost got in an accident and ram is refusing to fix it with out charge....they claim out of warranty.... from all class action law suits and what is on the web i believe this should be covered.they are telling me truck is not derivable in it currant state

Front end vibration loose steering. over 60mph very bad vibrating almost feels as if the truck was being pushed one way and going the other. braking also causes the steering to wooble or pull depending on the speed, when hitting bumps in the road way is the worst i never know where i may end up. all highway and turning into companies i use it as a sales vehical

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the track bar link mount bracket needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000.

This truck has had issues with steering since about 10,000 miles. i have had the previous steering related recall (13v529000) fixed yet the steering still doesn't feel right. i had brought to the dealer multiple times to address the issue and each time i was told that nothing was wrong. last sunday i turned on to a two lane road and at a cruising speed of about 35 mph my stability control started going crazy. within a few seconds, a loud pop. i was trying to figure out what was going on when i realized the car was not reacting to my turning of the steering wheel. i was on a slight right curve and veering into the oncoming traffic lane without steering and i slammed on the brakes just before hitting a parked vehicle on the opposite side of the road. i avoided a head-on collision only by chance that there wasn't a vehicle coming the other direction. with the known steering issues of the truck i am nervous the existing recall didn't properly fix the truck's steering problems. i had the truck towed to the dealer and i was told the problem was not related to the steering recalls. i had a broken drag link terminal and pittman arm (neither under warranty). my truck has 70,000 miles and has been driven on-road only and under normal to light conditions for all the miles. in my opinion these critical components should never break especially at only 70k miles on a supposedly heavy duty truck. with my family in the car, this event could have ended much much worse. we are thankful.

My vehicle is part of the ram truck repurchase under recall n49. fca us sent me an offer for my truck that i received october 26. i filled out the paperwork and e-mailed it to the listed address. i called the next day, october 27 and fca us verified they had recieved my documentation. they said a check for the repurchase had been requested. i was informed this would only take 2-3 days to issue a check. i called back on november 17 because i have not heard from fca us for three weeks. at this point fca us claimed they were waiting on my documents. i told them they had already verified receipt of said documentation on october 27. the representative said " let me look" and after looking verified fca us did have the documentation and stated they would request a check for the repurchase. i asked how long until i could expect to here from them and i was informed that they are not giving times. i questioned the fact that they told me 2-3 days 3 weeks ago and was told "that's not true, we are not giving times". is fca us going to be held accountable? it doesn't seem like they have any intent in paying me or my family for our unsafe vehicle. this ram 2500 is my primary vehicle and i cannot replace it until fca us pays us what is owed and this being our primary vehicle we have no choice but continue to drive this unsafe vehicle with faulty steering that could break and cause us to crash.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge ram 2500. while the vehicle was undergoing a tire rotation, the technician discovered that both front tie rod assemblies were damaged and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v529000 (steering). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 44,000.

I had recall n49 / nhtsa 13v-529 conducted on my vehicle, now the steering wheel has moved from the center to the right. my direction of travel is straight, when driving, but the top of steering wheel is now pointed to the 2:00 pm. i asked the larry h miller ram in utah, if i could do a buy back and they told me "no your vehicle does not qualify because you had the n49 done on it". when i read the fca v nhtsa it did not say that, it said they "fca" will do a buy back due to the case in question.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 13v529000 (steering) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. the dealer stated that parts were not available. the manufacturer was also made aware of the delay the vehicle was not repaired. the contact had not experienced a failure.

My grandson and i were taking my 2012 dodge ram to the dealer for warranty work we were doing around 60 mph when we crossed a rail road crossing the vehicle started wobbling so bad i thought i had blown a tire everything on the dash and center console flew on the floor anything in the back seat went under the front seat it scared both of us. i told the dealership about it they could find nothing but axle seals leaking but did,nt have time to fix them. i work in the north dakota oil fields i have to have this vehicle so i got an appointment at another dealership 100 miles away they could find nothing wrong including the axle seals and charged me 96.30. i took this vehicle 1150 miles to north dakota without any problems however on the way back was another story. montana raised their speed limit to 80 mph at slightly over that the vehicle started wobbling out of control when i went across one of those little bumps on a bridge i did not think i was going to get it under control befor i went off the road or in to the guard rail it did this to me three more times befor i got how. i stopped by the dealership that i bought it from and they said there was no recall on this vehicle. i called dodge customer service they informed me that it was probably a woren tire or it was out of alignment. i find out there is a class action lawsuit against dodge for this and they risk my life and my families life not to mention the people i could have killed if i had been passing a truck or anyone else on this freeway at the time this happened at 80 mph someone usually dies in an accident. i was never notified of any kind of safety hazard with this pickup.

I noticed for 6-8 mos steering issue to the left, called dealer said nothing wrong. at various times a strange clunking clicking left front wheel area as decelerating and turning left weight to the front. now choppy tire left front as there are no ball joints it appears tie rod is bad or something. while pulling into a turn the other day august 17,2015 the veh pulled heard the clank again and the steering pull caused us to strike fixed object. dealer says not affected by recall, but we have all the same issues, and noted for awhile steering at intermittent times problems... what can i do very afraid to drive as we drive interstate often with loads, we need the vehicle but it seems to have the same issue as recall even though our vin shows different plant, but what do we do just be killed first? help please.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge ram 2500. while driving at approximately 70 mph after encountering a pothole, the front end of the vehicle started violently shaking without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the upper and lower ball joints, the front shock steering damper, the tracking bar, the differential gasket seal, and a front wheel alignment needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 165,000.

I was driving down i 10 today going 70 my truck started vigorously shacking and making my truck run off the road it was all i had to keep from crashing my front end or read end felt like it locked up then i tried pulling off and my truck had little power it took several minutes to get it running right again but every bump i hit the same problem happened i looked underneath my truck and could see fluid coming from my steering column this happened literally at 180000 miles at 86000 miles my 2012 diesel exhaust filter clogged completely up and the dealer said it wasn't covered under the 100000 mile warranty i paid $934 to have it repaired i believe that i have exhaust problem s still too.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ram 2500. the contact stated that after the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 13v529000 (steering) and driving at 30 mph, the vehicle veered to the left and right. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that an alignment adjustment was needed. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated the failure only occurred after the vehicle was serviced under the recall. the contact mentioned that the recall remedy failed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 48,200. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge ram 2500. the contact did not receive notification of nhtsa campaign number: 13v529000 (steering) however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure.

Driving on freeway 55 mph towing heavy duty concrete trailer ( 2 axle 4 yard w/rear mounted mixer) and truck violently started shaking bad , leaving me with no control . have invested over$1000 in parts alone, with no luck. now am replacing all tie rods and ball joints $500 (parts alone), to see what happens. though i have read there is no fix??? cant sell it cuz i owe 36,000 and it is only worth 25,000. i am 3 months behind on payments cuz i need truck for work to make money, but has been in shop (unrelated would not start) for 3 weeks and $1300 more dollars, for some fuel module b.s. and my finance company wants to know where their money is, and what is wrong with the truck? so i ask them which month they would like to know about. these trucks are garbage!!!! never buy dodge ( probably why they changed name of trucks to "ram") some legal mambo jumbo to save their ass. and the government bailed them out for what???? what brought me here was a search for tie rods, cause i believe that to be my problem. after reading all the complaints about tie rods breaking, i will now replace all tie rods on my own dime, because my life is worth more than $1000 dollars of parts. there is definitely something being covered up. why in the hell can dealers only get 15 parts (b.s.) a month, but i can go ebay, amazon, (which i am by the way) and have them in a couple days. cause i am paying for them? is chrysler that broke ? crappy products, crappy design, and guess what, no accountability. recipe for disaster if you ask me. up yours dodge , ram, chrysler, whatever name your hiding behind this month.!!!

we just got our 2012 ram 2500 out of the shop for the steering locking up. the first time we took the truck into a dodge dealer, greenwood, in gilroy, ca, told us they couldn't duplicate the problem and didn't offer any kind of resolution. the second time we took the truck in,to the same dodge dealer in gilroy, ca, for the same issue, on july 6th, they said again, they could not duplicate the issue. however, they said they found metal in the steering pump fluid. they said, the warranty agrees to pay for the pump, but the part would not be in that friday or the following week. we had a camping trip scheduled and asked if it was safe to drive? they would not indicate. we had made an appointment to bring the truck back in on july 19th. on july 24th, service department said, the pump was an upgrade and the warranty company wouldn't pay for the new fitting and hose required for the upgraded pump. we told them to go ahead and replace the pump with the upgraded steering pump and fitting/hose. we complained to the dealer's management and they paid for the fitting/hose and finally gave us our truck on saturday, july 25th. on july 27th, i heard about the buy back the government is issuing to fca us llc and decided to send you my problem with the steering on our 2012 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4.

While entering highway and getting up to speed onto i95, truck started to vibrate. i backed off then tried again to accelerate, at this time the steering wheel violently shock in my hands left and right rapidly. i let off speed and it wasn't until i got into the break down lane at approx. 45 mph that i was able to steer the vehicle without any shaking of the steering wheel. i then pulled out again and resumed. the incident has happened a few additional times mostly while transferring from solid pavement to crossing bridges. i made appointment discussing the issue. i took truck in they rotated tires and it was gone for a little while. now here it is july and the truck is starting to react that way again, mostly while traveling on bridges. the left arm had previous been replaced and still have this issue.

When acceleration from a start and turing to the right i hear a grinding noise under the dash ..around the engine compartment. had a recall on this truck less than a year ....... dealership indicated that this would help ....... the noise still exists and hasn't affected the performance of the truck....... i am more concerned with this noise since the media news on dodge recalls.......concerned??

Steering went out causing me to lose control and run into sign . paid $60000 for this truck and i have had to put 30k back into it for reasons i had no control of> than chrystler offered me 22000 for the truck which is 4000 below what is owed on truck biggest mistake i made was buying a dodge very unprofessional how they are handlinfg these buyback trucks selling u garbage is one thing than trying to take advantage on the buys backs on recalled trucks is uncalled for

My left tie rod snapped as i was backing out of my parking spot. there is already a recall on this matter. writing to you just to get this information out to as many as possible. i went to tri county chrysler in pottstown, pa to get an inspection to see if i needed the recall work done. i was told that i did not need the recall done, so they entered my vin in saying they completed the work. so a couple weeks later my tie rod snaps, so much for not needing the recall done. so i get it towed to another dealer and they say yes i need the recall done and do the work. something needs to be done about this. this is a very serious matter, i could have been seriously injured or could have injured someone else. *tr

We received a safety recall notice n49/nhtsa 13v-529 regarding our dodge 2500. we begin the process to have it repaired in january with our local dealer. in april we finally got in to have it inspected. we do have the faulty left tie rod ball stud that needs replacing. our local linwood chrysler dealer tells us, in several attempts to have the work done, that they have only received 2 parts from chrysler. when we contacted the 2nd dealer they told us a similar situation. we have went from # 7 on the list, to # 31, and now are # 41. when we contacted chrysler we were told that 5-6 of these repair parts are shipped weekly to each dealership with waiting list. we have found that chrysler is shipping one part every 21 days to some dealerships, sometimes. they repeat the same "fair distribution" line to us, the customer, and i have no idea what they are telling their dealers. we have not drove this expensive, faulty truck for 8 months because of this safety issue. we are unhappy about the lies of "parts on order". *tr

3 different instances, while traveling from different road surfaces, cement to gravel, gravel to tar. seems small difference in road height causes truck to shake violent, and lose control of steering ability.2 of 3 times ended up coming to a stop in ditch. only after crossing both lanes.thank god there was nobody else on the road at the time. after the second time it happened i went on line to see if anybody else had this happen to them. what i found was that they did and they have a term for it [ the dodge death shake ]. the after market even makes parts to correct the problem. from new steering links ,steering boxes.and frame stiffeners. makes a person wonder,if they have a term for it,and make products to stop it.what the hell you are doing about it?. and why do consumers have to pay thousands out of pocket, to repair an poorly designed product them selves? from lawsuits to lies and everything in between.

Waiting for 2 months for recall deemed unsafe to drive. *tr

I have received my fourth recall notice for n49/nhtsa 13v-529. dealer in lexington park still has no parts. i am on waiting list for the past 4 months. chrysler is failing to take action on recall. *tr

I received the recall notice in january 2014 and went to my local dealer. they said to check back in february. i called in february and they said check back in march. i was told that the parts aren't even available. i checked again in april, they said call back in may which i did and my parts were ordered may 1, 2014. it's june 9, 2014 and i called my dealer to find out when to bring my truck back. they said it will be a couple months because they are only given a couple parts at a time. fortunately i've not had an accident but you would think for a steering defect the manufacturer would make this part a priority. my complaint is that neither the manufacturer of the vehicle nor the faulty part have remotely responded in an acceptable timeframe for a defect that could result in serious injury or property damage. *tr

I have a 2012 ram 2500 with 20,000 miles. whenever you go over a bump or railroad track the truck starts to wobble uncontrollably that you need to come to a complete stop. on one occasion i was on the new york thruway traveling at 70 and hit a bump and couldn't even see straight it was wobbling so bad. have brought to dealer when it first happened last year and was told it was a bad steering dampener was replaced and problem still exists. my wife will not use the truck because is terrified of the issue. i have owned many ram trucks and have never had this problem. an inexperienced driver could result into a serious accident.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that she attempted to have her vehicle repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v529000 (steering) but was informed that the parts were not available. the contact felt that since the failure was reported in november of 2013, there should be a remedy available before april of 2014. the contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable time for repair. the contact had not experienced a failure. dr

After a long rod trip, i was parking my truck and the left tie rod broke. if i was driving at 65 miles and hour i could be dead now. dodge wants me to tow my truck and they are going to do me the "favor" of replacing at no cost...i have to get myself another truck to drive. *tr

Recall is for the left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving condition. i took my truck in 45 days ago. parts are so limited that the dealer is saying it could be 6 months or more before the parts come in to fix what appears could be a serious issue. i have not actually had an incident. *tr

I purchased this vehicle from stew hansen ram on april 3, 2014. during the purchase procedure, i was not fully informed of the existing recall n49. it was not until several weeks later when i received an email notice of an oil change being due that i found out about the recall, as it was included in the maintenance notice. i then found out about the parts unavailability. i was very clear when buying the vehicle that i would be towing a travel trailer to ca with it this summer. i believe the dealer was quite remiss in not informing me of the situation prior to the sale. i also believe it should be illegal to sell a recalled vehicle that has not been repaired, especially one with potential loss of steering control. the dealer has been unable to provide a time frame for repair. *tr

Tried calling in for the left front tie rod recall to auto nation dodge and they told me that they have recalled the parts to fix. called the chrysler help line and they were not helpful at all. the lady i talked to could not tell me when chrysler is supposed to have the part to fix the recall. why is chrysler sending out notifications and telling people to call there local dealers to fix the recall when they do not have the parts to fix and why is it taking so long? *tr

I am a marine stationed aboard mcas new river in jacksonville nc. i had just dropped my son off at his babysitter. i arrived at work and as i was pulling into my parking spot i noticed that my truck would not turn. i came to a stop just before i hit the truck next to me. i put the truck in reverse and i noticed a dragging sound coming from the front of my truck. i got out of the cab and checked it out. that is when i noticed that the left tie bar had sheared from the ujoint. i was lucky that i was not driving at a high rate of speed while my son was in the truck when this happened. to survive 4 deployments to iraq but to only get killed by a broken bolt. when i dropped it off i was told that it would get fixed with the same hardware that failed in the first place because they new parts were not available. i am a helicopters mechanic and i am not new to safety and quality maintenance so the idea of putting the same part on that failed before does not seem right to me. if it were something in the entertainment system or maybe the comfort control, i could see something like this being done. not the steering!!! we are being told that i would not be able to have courtesy vehicle from the dealer because they don't offer them because of recalls. so they tell me that they will fix my truck with recalled parts and give it back to me to drive until parts come in. really!! so i risk the lives of my family members cause dodge wants to safe a buck. i don't believe that i am responsible for this and dodge should stand behind the product it produces. this is a safety concern that must be addressed. it leaves me and other families no choice but to drive a dangerous vehicle. *tr

Front end has popping noise in it. dealer told me i would have to have steering linkage replace soon. i see there was a recall on my year/model truck but i never received a recall for this problem. should i not be driving it much because of this recall? this has been ongoing for several years, they just mentioned it in the last time i got it serviced and another recall taken care of. has done this since i purchased truck new in february of 2012.

2012 dodge ram 2500. consumer writes in regards to tie rod recall notice issues. *smd the consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer, after receiving a recall notice. but, when he arrived he discovered it was purely a determination check and his vehicle, in fact did not need to have the replacement part installed. the service advisor informed the consumer to bring the vehicle back in 3 weeks when the part arrived. the consumer numerous times, only to be told the parts were still not available.

I received a recall notice on my vehicle for a "left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions". it went on to say that if it broke while operating the vehicle a crash would most likely occur. i called both dodge dealers in colorado springs, co and tried to schedule the repairs for my truck. this is the only vehicle we have. i was told by both colorado springs dodge and perkins motor city dodge the chrysler is only sending one part per week per dealership!!! there are over 350 people on the list at colorado springs dodge and 58 at perkins dodge. if chrysler is only sending one part per week, it could be would be over a year from now before my vehicle is repaired! this is totally unacceptable! *tr

Received notice of safety issue with steering components and was told it would be more than a year to warranty the problem. this is not acceptable as this is a safety issue and we tow with this truck!!!! further more i tried to call the [xxx] # and got nothing but a sales pitch and when answering not interested i was hung up on twice! why are government lines being used for sales pitches rather than service? because of this i have not been able to file a complaint. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

This is in ref to safety recall n49 / nhtsa 13v-529. i received a recall form dodge and took my truck into miller's dodge in martinsburg wv. the service dept. looked and said your left tie rod ball stud needed to be replaced. i have called to check on the part status 3 times. it has been 5 months and everytime i put my family in the truck they are at risk. i am told that the part is on back order. i received another recall notice from dodge which prompted me to log this. *tr

I have not had an accident, but there is serious potential for one. regarding chrysler safety recall n49 / nhtsa 13v-529: this is a recall for a serious problem that can affect the vehicle's steering. two different dodge dealers have told me that they can only order a few parts each week. here in susanville, ca, there are at least 37 trucks on the repair list, and chrysler can only deliver 1 part per week! the last person on that list has to wait 9 months to get his truck fixed. in the meantime, we all have to drive on mountain roads and risk losing our steering. this is atrocious. *tr
