I've owned 4 chrysler/dodge vehicles 98 avenger, 99 ram 1500, 03 300 m and now 2014 ram 1500 which everyone has had electrical issues. i have not put money into my new truck yet but have put thousands into other vehicles before i sold them for less than blue book just to be rid of all the issues. i bought my currant truck new in june 2014, i first began noticing glitches late summer 2015 and now there are electric surges, fault indicators that are fine and lights will not shut off killing my battery. i bought new this time assuming i would eliminate these issues but i was wrong, my truck has had no accidents of any sort and yet i have a $35,000 truck that's unreliable as well as unsafe. durning my research chrysler has been aware of this issue for decades and should be responsible for their lack of safety concerns for their customers. very disheartening as well as frustrating

I am extremely concerned that i was in an accident this morning totalling the truck and the air bags did not deploy. why???

Today is july 10, 2015. the vehicle is 2014 dodge ram 1500 crew cab pickup purchase new. on the steering wheel where the horn and airbag are located the seam cracked or separated starting just below the letter "s" stamped on it for srs airbags and if you are sitting in the drivers seat and looking at the wheel the crack or separation continues from that point and runs straight to the right and up to the end of the cover for the srs airbag in the steering wheel. when the horn is pressed the casing which is cracked or separated scratches you or your fingers get stuck or caught inside the opening. the dealer stated that because the mileage is over the 3 year 36000 mile warranty it would not be covered. however, if we agreed to have additional maintenance done today unrelated to the free oil change they would cover the cost to repair the defect. please note the dealer confirmed it was a manufactured defect. i contacted chrysler and filed a complaint with them.

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 dodge ram 1500. while driving approximately 65 mph in the rain, the vehicle hydroplaned and spun around. in addition, the vehicle flipped and rolled multiple times. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed. the contact and passenger were injured and medical attention was required. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

This accident is on video if nhtsa wants to review it. there is also a crash data retrieval report and numerous photographs. truck is available for inspection by nhtsa. the truck dramatically veered off to the right (traveling 75 mph), struck and ricocheted off the right side guardrail, traveled in a diagonal direction across 3 lanes of traffic, struck left guardrail, smashed down an embankment, rolled 2.5 times and came to rest in oncoming traffic lanes. not one air bag or side curtain deployed. seatbelt pre-tensioner did not activate. driver sustained brain injury after smashing head on steering wheel so hard, it bent the steering wheel. fca is denying all responsibility despite sending their investigators to denver, colorado to inspect the car. the orc module manufactured by bosch. there is currently a recall for the opposite event occurring (air bags deploying for no reason). fca refused to pull the vehicle's orc module for further testing. despite clear evidence of the orc not working ( as confirmed in downloaded crash data), fca continues to ignore the fact that the orc /airbags/seat belts have a problem in this model/make. the airbags do not deploy when they should. there is also evidence regarding faulty tire/axle/steering which is currently under investigation by privately retained engineers. the truck was totaled. there are several similar complaints on the nhtsa website with the exact same set of facts. i can be reached at [xxx] for more details..updated 04/20/17 *bf ..updated 05/16/17 *bf updated 10/20/2017*js *tr information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Water leakin from outside to inside cab from cad vent located behind rear seat. water pools under rear seat. service air bag system shows on display ever sense dealer serviced vehicle for a recall on airbags abs often on a place itself on the freeway at freeway speeds of anywhere from 60 to 70 miles an hour and drops my vehicle speed down to about 40 to 45.

We purchased a brand new ram 1500 february 27, 2015. we've been having the same on going problem with the vehicle since we purchased this vehicle. we brought it to the dealerships attention on several occasions and have been told the same thing every time which is "yes we acknowledge the problem is their however there is still no fix ".this has been going on for over 6 months. when you bring the vehicle. to a complete stop, it jumps or shifts as if it's trying to jump into another gear. when you try to drive off in the vehicle the vehicle gives a hesitation like it's trying to go into a higher gear before you even pull off. on top of this the vehicle currently have 3 recalls on it. we should not be experiencing this with a brand new truck. we've contacted the dealership several times regarding this issue but we're not getting any results. they just keep saying we're aware of the problem but there is stilll not a fix. we do not feel safe driving this vehicle and would like to see some results! we've been getting the same results for the past 6 or 7 months and have decided to contact nhtsa, hoping to get some results.

Airbags deployed in a minor sideswipe collision at highway speed. the driver was not able to control the vehicle because of the smoke (dust?) from the airbag inflation and the bag itself in his face that prevented him from seeing where he was going. we hit a utility pole at speed and several trees which eventually stopped the truck. the airbags deployed at the initial (very minor) impact and were of no benefit to us in the subsequent major impacts that we could not even see coming. in this case driver error may have caused the initial impact but many accidents of this type may follow deer/auto crashes that occur at highway speeds and do not slow the vehicle down. perhaps the threshold impact for airbag deployment should be higher or airbag deployment modified so drivers are able to control their vehicle after an initial impact that does not stop the vehicle. i have to wonder how many human deaths in deer/auto collisions result from secondary impacts at high speed because drivers could not stop their auto safely because of airbag deployment at the initial hit. *js

On july 30th i was driving my 2014 ram 1500 though an intersection and got hit by another truck going through the light (passenger side rear tire). this spun my truck sideways and rolled it 2 or 3 times about 50 feet. at this point the truck was laying on its passenger side door. after looking over the vehicle, i noticed that the only airbag that went off was the driver side curtain. there were 5 people in the truck and only one sustained major injuries. my mother had a broken neck and back and ended up spending about a month in the hospital. the other 3 people in the car were my 2 children and wife. we were very fortunate, but with only one air bag deploying it could have been allot worse. *tr ..updated 05/09/17 *bf *js

The vehicle hit the guard rail and turned over onto its side. no airbags deployed. the truck was total. the airbags should have deployed and could have minimized the injures. *tr

I wrote a prior complaint regarding the air bags. i had taken the truck in 7 times. after i received an email back stating the case was closed, i was upset. i contacted chrysler one more time, and they apologized and reimbursed me for most of the repairs. in the end, i was pleased that they recognized the problem and were willing to rectify the situation.. *tr
