Problems with 2014 RAM 1500 AIR BAGS

On average, the 2014 RAM 1500 starts to “feel” problems with the AIR BAGS and its various aspects after 48 293 miles.

Recently reported AIR BAGS problems on 2014 RAM 1500

The truck was involved in a rollover and the side nor front airbags were deployed. *dt*jb*jb

While living in virginia in 2015, i proceeded to take my dodge ram in to correct a defective wire harness. recall notice r36, nhtsa 15-459 noted 'the steering wheel wire harness on your vehicle may become chaffed by the driver airbag module retainer spring ends. a chaffed steering wheel wire harness could cause an electrical short and/or an inadvertent driver airbag deployment. inadvertent driver airbag deployment, during certain driving conditions, may increase the risk of a crash and/or vehicle occupant injury.' after that recall was performed, i lost all use of my horn, and electrical features installed on the steering wheel. i drove several years without these features and never really had time to get this evaluated because of multiple military deployments. we relocated to ohio and i decided to have the truck evaluated and basically the recall work was never corrected by fair oaks chantilly chrysler dealership. on july 8 through july 11, 2019, my vehicle was serviced by jeff wyler chrysler, dodge, jeep in batavia, ohio to corrected the recall notice r36, nhsta 15-459. my service manager noted to submit a claim to be reimbursed for $403.78. they reached out to chrysler headquarters for further consultation, however, they never responded to my service manager.

Service airbag system message keeps coming up. this occurs while stationary, in motion, all the time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to mckevitt chrysler dodge jeep ram (2700 shattuck ave #100, berkeley, ca 94705, 510-848-2206) who diagnosed the vehicle and indicated that the air bag had failed, but the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 126,611. the vin not available.

2014 dodge ram 1500 big horn crew cab was involved in a front end collision, and none of the airbags went off. the truck was in motion on a city street (25-30 mph), it broad sided another vehicle, no airbags deployed in the ram when they should have. i feel this is a safety concern.

The assist handle has a leak when rains hard. removed to see where it is leaking and there is an airbag there. it also leaks all over the floor that can eventually lead to structural issues

My service air bag light comes on all the time it has been serviced at the dealership twice. i was told when i bought the truck the light was fixed. but still coming on.

Takata recall - the air bag sensor light comes on intermittently when the vehicle is running, whether the vehicle is stationary or moving. i have taken the vehicle to the local dodge dealership and they told me it would be a $120 diagnostic fee to check it out. i have read numerous complaints regarding this same issue. i feel that it should be checked at no charge to me as it represents a true safety hazard if the airbags deploy, especially when not involved in an accident. the current mileage on my 2014 dodge ram is 86000. i cannot find a recall for my vehicle but that does not mean that there is not a problem. this problem began approximately 3 weeks ago.

Air bag service light keeps going on and off

Takata inflators : my fiance was in a terrible accident with a hit and run and his truck is totaled. it was front impact and the air bags did not inflate or go off- his head hit the windshield and he had to go to the er for head injuries.

The airbag warning light keeps coming on and off (along with the accompanying "ding"). i think there is a short in the wiring under the driver's seat. whenever i go over big bumps it seems to cause the issue more often.

Vehicle had been serviced for all airbag related recalls in the past. at approximately 53,000 miles, my srs light randomly comes on and 'service airbag system" message displays on dash. i called the dealership to see if it was covered under recall or warranty and was told no and dealership wants $150 to look at vehicle. internet research shows this is a common issue on ram pick-ups. because the light comes on for a day or so and goes out for several days, i am waiting for the light to stay on constantly to prevent myself from having to pay $150 multiple times because there is no active fault when i drop it off. because this vehicle has had airbag related recall due to wiring, these vehicles should have an extended warranty on their airbag system. the fault that i am getting from my personal obdii scanner is "open circuit on front drivers squib #2". light comes on when randomly, either at first start if the day, or after driving for awhile. light and warning goes off in the same conditions (randomly). new airbag costs $795 and clock-spring is $295. these costs are for parts only and unacceptable for a 4 year old truck with 53,000 miles.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while the vehicle was parked and the rear driver's side door was being closed, the front driver's side and rear side curtain air bags deployed without warning. the front driver's seat air bag also deployed. the driver sustained back injuries that required medical attention. the vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's residence. in addition, the front driver and passenger seat belts failed to retract. the vehicle was taken to scoggin dickey chrysler dodge jeep (2483 tx-114, levelland, tx 79336, (806) 224-0266), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v460000 (seat belts, air bags) and 17v302000 (air bags). the manufacturer was notified of the failures, but did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Service airbag light keeps coming on and off

Airbag system message keeps coming on, message keeps going on and off but now is staying on all the time.

I have been to ram dealers in las vegas several times in the past 16 months to inquire about the shift interlock system recall and they always tell me that the part for replacement is not available at this time and they will call me when they get the part . 2. i haven't been called or mailed a link recall notice for the cruise control system recall. i have also had my truck in the shop for air bag sensors failure messages. most recently february 2018 and the messages keep repeating. i have been told that they have replaced the seat sensors and wiring harnesses several times the last time they had my truck for 4 days without furnishing a loan or rental car. i'm a 100% disabled veteran and use a wheelchair this is my only vehicle with a wheelchair lift installed to load, unload and transport my wheelchair what are my options?

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while the contact's vehicle was stationary, it rolled away while in the park position and crashed into a parked vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed. the contact sustained injuries to the left foot (severe bruising from the heel to the toe) in an attempt to stop the vehicle from rolling away. medical attention was required. allen samuels chrysler in aransas pass, texas was made aware of the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 47,000. *tt *tr

Takata recall active recall - dated december 20, 2017 nhtsa recall number 17v-821 manufacturer recall number t79 nothing has happened as of yet except the great concern of a safety risk not being resolved! dealer has not received or heard anything from the manufacturer in regard to a repair for the vehicles involved. this is not acceptable!

Takata recall. i was driving at approximately 65 mph in a 70mph zone in the rain. truck hydroplane and i spun across the highway and impacted a cement wall on the driver's side. the seat airbag failed to deploy resulting in me hitting the door, causing bruising to my ribs and shoulder on my left side.

The airbag light is on -the dealar the bag needs to be replaced and i did nothing tocouseit

Vehicle was recalled. odessa dodge (manager larry hook) had the vehicle 7 times and couldnt' fix it-originally started within warranty. warranty is now expired and odessa dodge doesn't know how to fix so they sent me to monahans dodge and dodge corporate will pay for it. monahans dodge said they know nothing about arrangement. dodge corporate says "wait and see". airbag light keeps coming on. waaaaaay too many documents to submit online-probably close to 100 pages. also have picture of diagnosis from dealership, say they want me to pay $249 for another diagnosis.

Tl* the contact owned a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 65 mph in the rain, the vehicle hydroplaned and crashed into a wall. the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts unlatched. a police report was filed. the driver, front passenger, and two minor adolescent passengers in the rear seat received medical attention. the driver sustained a ruptured number three lumbar (that required surgery and four rods). the front passenger sustained bruising, minor cuts, scrapes to both knees, and soreness to the lower back (that required x ray's, but no findings). a nine year old child sustained bruising to the right side from the waist to the shoulder, and the left side collar bone was broken. a six year old child sustained bruising across the waist and stomach from the seat belt. the vehicle was towed to buck's towing (3540 hwy 16 e suite 1 sharpsburg, ga 30277, 678-301-9332). the insurance company deemed the vehicle destroyed. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v302000 (air bags, seat belts) on june 30, 2017. the manufacturer was contacted on june 26, 2017 and stated that the notification should arrive in the mail soon. the failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

While in motion on a highway during a rainstorm, vehicle hydroplaned resulting in a rollover into the median. vehicle rolled over 3-4 times. none of the airbags deployed. driver received broken rib and pain on left side of body, anxiety/depression. passenger hit head on window frame, headache, pain to right side under ribs and in back below ribs, anxiety/trouble sleeping.

Primary compliant is that airbag sensor indicated that the airbag is not functioning properly. technician notes: airbag light is on; be body electrical concern. found code b0028-13 and found open circuit on seat back airbag harness during wiggle test, replace harness to correct concern. after repairs code went stored and cleared. now, i just purchased this vehicle new from grapevine dodge chrysler jeep january 2015, this vehicle is on a regular maintenance plan and has not been involved in any major accidents. therefore, if the wiring is found faulty i believe this is a manufactures problem. total out of pocket cost totaled $350.17 plus tax. i reached out to chrysler care and submitted documentation and receipt for reimbursement and i have been informed that airbags are not covered by warranty. concerned that manufacture received information stating airbag not functioning and they are not taking responsibility to repair and correct.

2012 to present ram 1500 and other model ram pickups have a defect in the roof seam sealing system allowing water to intrude through the roof at the rear of the headliner. water enters the roof at one or both corners and soaks the side curtain airbags and airbag wiring harness. today i checked and my side curtain airbags and wiring were soaked due to this leaking issue. i am fixing mine immediately on my to prevent serious injury or death due to corrosion or shorting of the wiring and water soaked airbags causing them to either deploy unexpectedly or not deploy during a crash. dealers are declining to make the repair indicating it is a cosmetic issue and vehicle owners must pay to have it fixed. this should be an immediate recall due to the high risks of serious injury and death if the airbags deploy unexpectedly on a rear passenger or worse a child and in the event of a crash, not deploy at all or deploy improperly due to being wet and/or electrical short issues. the water comes in at the roof where the rubber strips are meant to seal the roof front to back but there is still small holes that aren't sealed causing the water to get in.

I was a passenger an driver swerved off the road to avoid hitting heard of burro's in nv. hit head on tree no airbags deployed though local dodge dealership said they had been replaced, seatbelts failed as well now i suffering from broken right kbee brused up left knee hit knee's elbows an my head was swong forward at an abrupt stop hit at 50mph. went to hospital the recommended bone specialist they are going to do mri but only on right knee well my hands are numb an though i keep complaining no one is listening no one if recommendng a doctor. the local dealership here in pahrump nv are crooks they keep truck 5 hours we get it back with 48 new minles on it they dented hood twice. an at this point i would like vehicle inspected that the airbags were ever even replaced in 2016 at this point with failer to deploy at head on 50mph i highly doubt they replaced any recalked parts just recieved the seatbelt recall on 7/6/2017 an i'm sure that is late on their part to even notify us. vehicle was in motion when we hit right side front an left side of vehicle. everything has to be replaced except tail gate or the cab dois tirers rims an everything else must be replaced.

I had a air bad recall regarding the side airbags that i had fixed at adams automotive of annapolis and then on 5/07/14 i was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident due to the side curtain airbags deploying while i was driving. after the collision involving 6 cars when my side airbags deployed, none of the other front airbags deployed when they should have because of how bad the front impact was. i was injured very badly due to this and am possibly being held responsible for the accident until chrysler can confirm this is a big issue regarding the ram pickups! luckily there was no severe injuries but i now have lumbar back injuries and left shoulder injuries, not including what happened to others involved. do i need to hire an attorney?..updated 09/14/17 *bf *cn

Took the truck in for service on air bag light issue to the dealer, lawton chrysler jeep dodge ram's truck center located at 215 se interstate dr., lawton, ok 73501. i was informed by an employee that the airbag light was a common issue due to a bad design and a cheap plastic wiring harness located under the driver side seat. any seat adjustments, loose objects rolling under the seat, or even a rear passengers foot could potential make contact with the harness in a manner that breaks it and may trigger the airbag light to come on.. interstate dr. martin ok 73501 i was informed by employee that the airbag light was a common issue due to a bad design in the cheap plastic wiring harness located under the driver side seat in the seat that just meant loose objects rolling under the seat or even a rear passengers foot could potential make contact with the harness in a manner that breaks the plastic part. this would trigger the airbag light. my concern is, will the airbag function properly if i'm in an accident? *dt dodge admitted it was poor design.*jb

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v460000 (seat belts, air bags), 15v459000 (air bags), 15v534000 (air bags), and 17v302000 (air bags). the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the dealer was contacted (berne dodge in berne, texas) and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was made aware of the issues and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact also stated that the manufacturer did not provide a loaner vehicle. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

Air bag light kept coming on. seen recall on my vehicle(15v-459), in regard to wire harness causing short in the electrical system. the dealer now state that the wire harness to the airbag has shorted out under the seat. costing approximately $401.00. could this be caused by the recall on 2014 dodge ram.

Vehicle has had and keeps having the airbag indicator light come on to include service air bag system light. this issue has been brought to the dealership 4 repetitive times and to come this week a 5th time. on the 4th time they installed a new module and the problem still persists/ which they stated was not covered under warranty so had to pay $1500 in repairs. they advised to install a new battery the 3rd time and did not solve the issue. these lights come on at random times, either driving or stationary.

I was involved in a rear end accident. the person who hit me was going approximately 50 mph. i was stationary waiting to make a left turn. the front drivers seat broke causing the back portion to slam into the rear seat and the bottom to completely raise up. as a result i had no control over the vehicle causing some secondary damage. if there had been a person in the back seat they would of had catastrophic injuries as they would have been crushed by the driver seat. the airbags were emitting a "gas" but the airbags never deployed. i do not have photos of the seat but the brunswick county ems did take photos of the seat. and i am sure they can provide if further investigation is warranted.

Was in an accident. the truck was going down hill at a speed of 45 and hit another car on its side. the airbags did not deploy and i hit the steering wheel so hard that the seatbelt ripped. ..updated 05/09/17 *bf *as

I was driving on a highway, suffolk county route 80, at about 40mph when i fell asleep at the wheel of my 2014 dodge ram 1500 pickup truck. i ran off the road to my right, clipped a few small trees off, snapped a 6x6 fence post like a toothpick, and hit a utility pole dead center of my front bumper. police and fire rescue responded. the air bags did not deploy. the seat belt saved my life. no other passengers in my vehicle.

Water inside cab from highmount tailight leaking causes fogging up of windows when highway speed is reached. dealer replaced light but high humidity/water affected electrical components, and now the air bag light is on. i took it to the dealer for inspection, and have been waiting for 3 days for dealer to contact me with an appointment date. wife feels unsafe driving with faulty air bag system. the leak is apparently a common defect caused by rain!!! and may affect electronics and electrical systems. complaints go back at least to 2007when researched on line ---- no recall--- no safe vehicle either.
