Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 RAM 1500

Was told the exhaust manifold bolt/studs warped and snapped and the exhaust manifold is warped, this happened on the driver side first but was covered under warranty but now happening on driver side out of warranty. was told my dealership they see this often and was told fca has fixed the problem in newer years by using stronger material in the bolts. this informs me that fca knows of the problem but the dealers won't cover it as a design defect. clearly there is a design defect with the exhaust manifold bolts as they should not be doing this and manufactures are suppose to account for these parts to see extreme temp changes. this has happened now twice to me but because i am no longer under warranty they won't fix the problem. the fist time was before 60,000 miles and now the other side is happening at 76,000 miles. to summarize the problem is warped exhaust manifold bolts and the manifold itself.

After parking my vehicle in my driveway with the rear on the upper side of a slight incline and placing the vehicle in park and shutting engine off, the vehicle strarts rolling downward for approxiamately 5 to 7 feet, eventually stopping. firsted noticed yesterday, 12/3/19 and then again today.this is a very serious issue and a safety concern. i read on online that it may be related to issues with the brake transmission shift interlock.

2014 dodge ram. consumer writes in regards to problems with ignition, lights and transmission. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle was parked on a hill when it began to roll backwards and crashed through a gate. the consumer grabbed the wheel, from standing outside the vehicle, directing the vehicle towards an embankment, where it landed. the vehicle dragged the consumer along the way. the emergency brake was on. the consumer stated the key falls out of the ignition, but the vehicle continues to run. the mileage would not appear on the instrument panel. the headlights were not adjustable. *js

Wasn't sure if this fell under power train or engine itself. 2014 ram 1500 3.6l engine. oil filter housing is plastic. noticed an oil leak upon changing oil. brought to dealer and hoped it fell under power train warranty. did not qualify so i'm out almost 1,000 for the repair. researching, this is a known common problem. dealer attributed it to being over tightened filter housing. well research shows this happens due to the temperature cycling over time. oil leaking onto the engine manifold creates a fire hazard under the proper conditions. manufacturer should put forward a recall to replace the housings or design one that is metal for an adequate replacement.

I have had several malfunction of the transmission in my vehicle since purchased. they started around a year after i purchased the vehicle and have averaged approximately one malfunction per year. the first three malfunctions were similar; a "hard" downshift or upshift while i was highway driving at highway speed and adjust according to traffic flow. i heard a loud popping noise and felt the jolt of the transmission changing. like when the vehicle slowed but the transmission didn't react and all the sudden a hard shift same on the upshift. the latest malfunction was different. i was in highway traffic when traffic slowed down. i tried to accelerate to keep up with traffic flow but the vehicle would not exceed the 45 mph. i could hear the engine revving up but it was like it was stuck in low gear. i pulled off the freeway and stopped and restarted the vehicle and it drove as normal. i have explained the malfunctions to the dealership on several occasions. they said they checked it out and it was normal. after the last failed attempt to get the problem resolved at the dealership, i contacted the chrysler fca us customer center representative by letter. the advised me to a gm at the dodge city dealer in mckinney, tx. the dealership ended up "resetting the transmission". it was explained to me that is similar to resetting your cell phone where all settings go back to the original settings. i was given no other options at the time except to drive the vehicle and see if the resetting resolved the problem. it is my opinion there has been no real resolution to the problem of the malfunction of the transmission. i still have the same fear that if the transmission malfunction under the right conditions it could cause an accident resulting in serious bodily injury or even death to me or someone else. please give this concern your utmost attention.

This has happened on a multitude of occasions. while driving the vehicle, the check engine light, the traction control light will both come on. at the same time as the lights the messages show up and say to service shifter knob, then right after that the service trailer brake system message shows up and will be the only message found in the messages folder. the check engine light and the traction control light stay on. when trying to get the traction control light to go out by pressing the traction control button, nothing happens. this is telling me that i do not have any traction control. this will become a major issue when it snows. each of these instances have happened while moving both on and off the highway and while at a stop. this has happened also while on the highway about seven months ago while on the highway in the snow.

Dangerous. transmission problem on slight uphill at speeds from 40-70 miles. suddenly the traction control off light and engine light comes on, truck gets stuck in a weird gear, gas pedal only works half way. you cannot speed up to save your life. this is just a 4 year old truck. absolutely unfoto buyers.

After the v08 update very bad lag from the pedal and gas mileage dropped very significantly.

The v08 emission recall has despite what the manufacturer claims decreased my mpg, increased turbo lag, made it unsafe to drive due to literally slower than acceptable throttle response, and daily diesel regeneration. all before this flash to the ecu there where no problems. but since it is a ticking time bomb just waiting for for me to get t-boned at an intersection for the delayed acceleration.

When in motion on a city or a highway the transmission does not downshift correctly and it sounds like if it is revving when not stepping on the gas.

Recall for emissions not performed correctly. engine light comes on all the time. warning flashes on dash : "engine will not restart in 200 mi service def see dealer." started at 5000 miles and has plagued the truck every since then. ram was supposed to fix and reimburse under recent recall and extended warranty settlement. i have documented, written, called, emailed, and faxed to the ram manufacturer. i get no response whatsoever. recall done on 7/11/19 and on 10/08/19 i still don't have it fixed. file to thick to up load.

2014 ram ecodiesel. had the emissions update done per the fca class action lawsuit requirements. after the update, my truck has an extremely dangerous turbo/throttle lag. this lag can last anywhere from 2-5 seconds. additionally, the truck was advertised as 29 mpg on the highway. after the update, i am sitting around 17 mpg. i have lodged a complaint with fca and am still waiting to hear back. this is no longer an emissions issue, this is a safety issue and i can guarantee you it will lead to numerous accidents and possibly death. a simple google search will show that this issue is not unique to my ecodiesel. almost every ram and jeep that had the emissions update is dealing with the same safety risks.

When the vehicle is in gear then stopped and placed in park but not shut off it will not go back into gear. this started the end of june 2019. it has occurred at least seven times. it has occurred in driveways, parking lots, and landscape and lumber yards. at the yards it blocked oncoming traffic.it happened when the vehicle was half way into our street from our driveway where vehicles had to drive around the truck. this could have resulted in injury the dodge dealer ran three checks on the truck and told us the problem never registers on their computer nor could they get the problem to replicate. after many complaints the dealership replaced the shifter controller. the problem occurred again within an hour after the attempted repair. we have to be careful where we drive the vehicle so we so not put ourselves in a dangerous situation. we could not be assure the vehicle would fo into gear when doing a three point turn. we have a video of this problem but i could not get it to copy.

After receiving the epa mandated emissions update known as aem (v08) i have been experiencing an unsafe amount of lag from the time the accelerator is pressed to the time the truck actually begins to accelerate. at times, i can count to 5 seconds before the truck begins to move forward. this is unacceptable and downright unsafe. fca is staying that the lag is as the software intended it to be. when the truck was purchased it was not at all like this, after being forced by the epa & the state of california to get this update my truck is now nearly inoperable due to safety concerns. i refuse to put my family in this vehicle as it in completely unpredictable and unreliable. please step up and forced fca to fix this terrible mistake they made. you may end up saving someone's life.

On 06/12/2019, i had the v08 recall (aem modification update) done on my 2014 ram 1500 ecodiesel. this recall was required as part of an emissions related lawsuit. fca advised that the updated software is not expected to change any of the vehicles attributes to include vehicle performance, driveability, and fuel economy. after having the recall work done, i have noticed a serious concern regarding the acceleration of the vehicle from a stop (especially when the engine is cold or not fully warmed up). when accelerating from a stop, there is a delay in the acceleration which i can best describe as feeling like "severe turbo lag." when trying to cross a busy intersection or trying to merge into traffic, if you try to accelerate quickly, the vehicle does not respond like it did prior to the recall work. after pushing the accelerator harder and getting through the lag in acceleration, the turbo finally kicks in and the vehicle accelerates quickly because you have to basically "floor it." i also noticed when driving up an incline and stopping at a stop sign, while continuing gradually up the incline the vehicle does not respond to light/gradual pressing of the accelerator. pressing the accelerator harder causes the turbo to kick in and the vehicle to downshift which causes the vehicle to accelerate quickly . on 06/26/2019, the dealership tested it and test drove it for 12 miles and noting that they "did not experience anything abnormal when compared to like vehicles" and "vehicle performing as designed." my wife and i continued to notice the same issues and i contacted fca again. they said they would document it and said that i could take it to the dealer again. i told them that i was not going to waste my time and reiterated that this issue was clearly a result of the update. fca closed my complaint.

I was exiting the vehicle the engine was running and i had put it into park, the vehicle suddenly went into reverse.i stepped out of the truck and was knocked over my legs were under the truck i managed to get them, out from under the truck, the edge of the front wheel caught my right foot pulling the sneaker off and spraining my ankle. the door caught my head and split it open. i had to go to the er for medical attention. i was the only one with injuries as no one else was involved in the accident.the truck continued in reverse and ran into a box van with a lift gate. it caused about $6000 damage to my truck there seems to be numerous incidents of problems with the rotary gear shift on these trucks where the truck has been in park and the truck went into reverse. this should be a safety recall.

The vehicle suddenly decelerates for a few seconds while driving which causes loss of control of the vehicle. very unsafe condition. potential to cause an accident. this issue happened several times. once approx a month ago at ~94000 miles and then twice on june 8, at approx 97000 miles.

After emissions recall vo8 was performed in may, the throttle response is gone. there have been many close calls where the truck won't go when the gas is pressed. it was perfectly normal before recall was done.

On 5/23/19 i took my truck to the dealer where i'd bought it new to fix a check engine light that was on.after the issue was found and repaired, i picked the truck up and was told a trans update(recall # u07) was also done. as soon as i pulled into light traffic,i noticed the throttle pedal was unresponsive and the truck was sluggish and slow to accelerate.it also shifted up and down a lot more then it normally does all the way home.i thought maybe the trans had to re learn it's shift pattern and would get better after i put some miles on it just as it did when new. over the next several weeks it didn't get any better and pulling onto the state highway from a town road has lead to some close calls as it'is a limited sight stop sign intersection. i have to do this every time i go to work or leave my house for any other reason. this is not a one time happening but every time i need to pull into traffic or get up to speed quickly. after several weeks i figured out something was wrong and the truck wasn't going to get better on it's own,i called the dealer to set up an appointment and check it out.i also asked if i could have the epa mandated aem(recall #v08) flash performed at the same time and was given an appointment for the following week. a few minutes later the dealer's service manager called back and informed me the aem update had already been performed on the 5/23/19 service visit and the change(loss) in performance was most likely the result. since i was unaware the aem update had already been performed,i knew the loss in performance wasn't my imagination. i also noticed a loss of about 15% fuel mpg and the trans.shifts up and down a lot more which is more of an aggravation then a safety issue. i wish the truck could perform as it did before the aem update as was promised by fca and also be emission compliant. i thought i knew what i was getting.

Takata recall while the vehicle was in park the rotary knob would spin back and forth and wouldn't move out of park. it stated service transmission shifter. i diconnected the battery and reconnected it. very quickly i moved it into drive and was able to get the truck into drive and in motion . shortly after at a speed of approximately 70 mph, in the middle of the highway, the vehicle shifted from drive into neutral on its own causing the vehicle's engine to accelerate and once i was able to safely maneuver it to the side of the road, it came to a complete stop and it was stuck in park. i have taken the truck to the dealership in buford, ga for further evaluation. they have stated it was something to do with a code in the computer.

When slowing down to a stop the transmission conducts a harsh down shift from 3rd gear to 2nd and or 2nd to 1st gear. i feel that this will cause the transmission eventually wear down. dodge mechanics say there are not fault codes.

Ram performed recall update v08 to the emissions system on this vehicle to become complaint with federal emissions. after the update there is a 3 second delay in throttle response. this generally occurs while the truck is stopped and is taking a left or right turn. this is a very serious safety issue that has almost resulted in a couple accidents. recall v08 was not supposed to effect fuel economy, but post recall i lost 6mpg.

Fca aem recall. since getting the emissions recall done the truck no longer responds like it did. it is a life safety issue. the update has mad the truck very sluggish to the point it feels like it is going to stall when trying to start from a stop or merging into traffic on the highway. i have also lost 5-6 mpg since the update and will no long let my wife drive it to do lack of power to even get moving.

Slipped out of park, truck was on wheel ramps but not fully on flat part of ramp. i was changing the oil on the vehicle. it was on the ramps for around 15 minutes and rolled backwards. the vehicle was still in park and luckily i was not under it at the time. not my smartest move no blocks behind wheels and no parking brake on. i double checked and vehicle started and was still in park without me touching the rotary dial. this scared me enough to be concerned. ignition off and keys were in off position in the ignition. the vehicle has approximately 72000 miles and i have owned it for around 50000 of those miles. i am familiar with the rotary dial.

Bought truck as a cpo in may 2015, a month into ownership engine light came on, code p26ab, engine coolant bypass valve. called the dealership and they were able to get me into a local dealership to check it out. tech said they did not find anything, it must be an old code they did not erase. then on 3/4/19 same code returned, p26ab. there has been a recall on 2013 ram for the same problem.

Went to ram dealer for recall #'s u61, u53, u07. when vehicle was returned am now able to shift from reverse to drive without touching parking brake while vehicle is in motion. also able to shift from drive to reverse and from drive/reverse to park without touching brake pedal. reported problem to dealer 2/21/2019. dealer has procrastinated in fixing issue. notified ram customer service 3/27/2019 to help get recall problem fixed. dealer stated would order part. no calls again from dealer. called ram customer service 04/15/2019 and problem has been elevated, but still no fix to vehicle. dealer again called with no solution to correct recall created safety issue. again, vehicle can be shifted from drive to reverse while vehicle is in motion without touching brake pedal.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while attempting to drive the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to move out of park. the instrument panel displayed "shift to parking or desired gears". the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

Similar to nhtsa issue # 11287014 dated 12/5/19 on a ram. twice, i've parked my truck on an incline (two different driveways), i've put the car in park, shut off the engine and removed the keys and gotten out the truck. the truck then started to roll backwards, both instances i jumped back in and pushed the break to stop the truck, so i do not know how far it would have rolled. it did roll at least 2 feet before i got it stopped. i do not know the dates of the incidents

When slowing to a stop, twice the engine has stalled and twice it sounded like it was about to stall but instead came out of gear. when it came out of gear the shift knob still indicated "d" but the light was flashing and the instrument panel said to shift into park and then back into drive

Last night i parked my truck in my driveway like i been doing since i had the truck which i bought new and last night i parked like i usually do and this morning i was informed that my truck has rolled out out the spot where i left it to the edge of the street while still in park. it could have backed into another vehicle or even worse a kid

I've had the vehicle for two weeks parking it on a flat street. i pulled it in my driveway for the first time (which has a slight slope down toward the sidewalk/city street behind). set the rotary dial to park and exited. i came back 8 hours later and the vehicle had rolled about 12 feet down across the sidewalk to the edge of the city street. i pulled the vehicle back up the driveway and this time set the parking brake before exiting. i stood for several minutes and observed a creaking sound as the vehicle continued to slowly roll again. after about an hour it had again rolled 1-2 feet down the driveway even with the parking break engaged. i put split firewood behind the back wheels to prevent it from rolling further.

. my pick-up averaged 24 per gallon between local and expressway driving. expressway driving only (for example, to niagara falls in 2015) averaged 27 miles per gallon. following replacement of spark plugs and oil change and 2 factory recalls my pick-up lost power and could barely do 20 miles per gallon. the engine became very loud. the longer i drove it, the less mileage i got -- the engine also began howling/whistling as i tried to increase speed. in order to maintain speed, i had to constantly press my foot to excelerate, even going down inclines. i had to continuously bring my pick-up back to the dealership in st. charles, illinois because various systems began to fail -- safety breaks, fuel related black box, dashboard panel signals , etc. i expressed concern about the stress on my transmission and engine. eventually, by process of elimimation, service department revisited the 2 recalls -- one of which was the cruise control recall. when i brought it in again, they found 6 leaks located on the top of the engine. anything above 50-55 mph is difficult. i feel that the transmission does not change gears in a timely fashion, and sometimes not at all. the rpm is very high and the engine remains in exceration mode either too long or, at higher speeds, never kicks in

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving approximately 10 mph, the transmission did not change gears and did not shift in the upward position. the contact also stated that the failure occurred two other times in one month. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was then taken to janssen chrysler/jeep/dodge/ram (3101 s jeffers street, north platte, ne 69101) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 151,441. *tr

A driver and passenger stopped near an exit gate. the gate is old and takes two people to close and lock. after the driver stopped, the vehicle was place in "park" but left running, and the drvier got out of the vehicle to assist in closing the gate. after closing the gate, they turned around and saw the vehicle moving, it rolled down an approximately 10 foot embankment and rolled about 50 feet hitting a pipe rail fence went over the fence and landed 10 feet down past the pipe rail and stopped on top of large rip-rap. the vehicle was not drivable. this the second time this vehicle has rolled while in 'park' within the past eleven days.

I scheduled an appnt. at 8:30 a.m. to the dealership on northlake blvd. in lake park, fl and they never did any recall repairs to my vehicle nor called and said they would not be able to complete repairs to my vehicle when i picked it up approx. 3:35 p.m. i was given the runaround after making repeated attempts to get the status of my vehicle via telephone at 1:30 p.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. i was transferred to voice mails of people who had already left for the day. finally, when i arrived for my vehicle and spoke with alberto, he said they close at 4 and he's the person i spoke to around 1:30 who said my vehicle would be ready around 3:00. no one made any attempts to contact me about my truck since 8:30, saturday morning which is terrible customer service.

When exiting the vehicle with the engine running after putting it into park, the vehicle suddenly went into reverse. the door knocked me down as i was caught in the shoulder seat belt and dragged me approximately 15 feet. after being released, the vehicle proceeded to continue in reverse and ran into a storefront. i was the only one with minor injuries as no one else was involved in the accident. i have had problems in the past with the electronic gear shift, specifically when moving it from drive to park. sometimes it seems to get stuck in reverse even though the indicator light is showing park.

Takata recall vehicle was in park and then after 2 minutes started moving electric shifter slipped out of gear cause someone to be run over in a parking lot of a business.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the rear differential made a loud abnormal noise. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear differential needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in any recalls and referred the contact to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Cannot put it to work it will not haul a trailer, can't drive because it will turn off in bumpy roads, been marking ' shift to desire gear to drive' we have been fighting with people from the agency ( don davis ) and they say they cannot find problems. changed shift cragter twice, no luck! i took it with the enginge like turned on and can't seem to find a 'code' the truck starts shaking up before it turns off completely. it's a matter of safety for myself and my family.

My truck keeps rolling forward or backwards when put into park, also my cruise dont shut off or turn on half the time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and shifted to the park position. in addition, the contact experienced an electrical failure in which all of the interior lights would not turn off when the vehicle was turned off. a dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 38,000. the vin was not available.

On february i drove from my home several miles to a fast food restaurant taking an interstate on the way. i used my cruise control on my way there and just pressed the brake to disengage it when i exited the interstate. i then continued to the drive to the restaurant where i pulled into a line to the drive through window as i moved through the line i would apply my brake to stop and as cars pulled forward i just let my foot off the brake to slowly move forward then pressed the brake again to stop. i did this several times then suddenly when i took my foot off the brake my truck suddenly accelerated and ran into the car in front of me before i could stop it. the driver of the other vehicle and i were not injured and drove to the parking lot to exchange insurance information. since the time of the accident i recently checked for recalls om my truck and found one related to the cruise control nhtsa # 18v-332 which could be related to my accident. i have recently had the recall service done june 30, 2018 at my local dodge dealer.

I have been to ram dealers in las vegas several times in the past 16 months to inquire about the shift interlock system recall and they always tell me that the part for replacement is not available at this time and they will call me when they get the part . 2. i haven't been called or mailed a link recall notice for the cruise control system recall. i have also had my truck in the shop for air bag sensors failure messages. most recently february 2018 and the messages keep repeating. i have been told that they have replaced the seat sensors and wiring harnesses several times the last time they had my truck for 4 days without furnishing a loan or rental car. i'm a 100% disabled veteran and use a wheelchair this is my only vehicle with a wheelchair lift installed to load, unload and transport my wheelchair what are my options?

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while the contact's vehicle was stationary, it rolled away while in the park position and crashed into a parked vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was not filed. the contact sustained injuries to the left foot (severe bruising from the heel to the toe) in an attempt to stop the vehicle from rolling away. medical attention was required. allen samuels chrysler in aransas pass, texas was made aware of the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 47,000. *tt *tr

The truck will roll away after placing gear in park. this has happened on many separate occasions.

Truck when placed in park has rolled away from me into the roadway on more then5 occasions. truck was parked and the parking break was in-gauged t, keys where not in the vehicle and this occurred more then 5 minutes after the truck was parked.
