2014 dodge ram. consumer writes in regards to defective fuel level indicator. *ld *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the egr cooler valve fractured the heath stopped operating consequence, risk of fire, repairs not covered under warranty the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the hether stopped working. the following day the vehicle was taken to the dealer mitchell chrysler dodge ram, 416 hopmeadow st, simsbury, ct 06070, they determined that the " egr " cooler valve fractured and needed replacement. the contact also stated that the engine was replaced at 112,00 miles in 2017 by the same dealer mitchell chrysler dodge ram, 416 hopmeadow st, simsbury, ct 06070. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 186,000. vin unavailable.
I was driving my ram 1500 ecodiesel to and from work and noticed a knocking sound. scheduled a service appointment and the dealership diagnosed my truck with catastrophic engine failure. a new engine is required with a repair bill of $12,370. there are many people with the same issue, a law suit has been filed due to chrysler refusing to cover repair cost. i feel chrysler sold me a lemon, please conduct an investigation.
While waiting at a stop light and then stepping on the accelerator the ram went into limp mode and did not go past 15 mph. the ram did not turn on any light to notify me of an issue. i had to forcefully take it out of limp mode therefore risking the transmission to get damaged. there was a big truck behind me making a left who thankfully noticed the ram stopped working and patiently waited for me to move out of the way. i turned it off and turned it back on and it started working again. seems like a recall issue on rams as i have been reading this has happened to hundreds of people.
My truck started leaking coolant out the rear of engine down transmission and on the ground and motor wouldn't hold any coolant in it so i called fca customer care and they told me vehicle is not driveable to get it to ram dealership for repairs it's been sitting there 9 days now and i cant get anybody from dealer or customer care to get it worked on and diagnosed it's under factory warranty plus the ecodiesel settlement extended warranty coverage for all parts of possible problem and they will not loan me a vehicle of any kind and i'm in need of my vehicle repaired and back to being able to drive it ,i call ram customer care everyday and keep getting told nothing about it getting repaired or problem located
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to twin rivers chrysler, jeep, dodge located at 529 west court street beatrice, ne 68310, phone number (402)-228-3310, to be inspected. the contact was informed that the hydraulic lifters failed to operate as intended which caused damage to the camshaft. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened. the failure mileage was 105,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, several warning indicators flashed and the vehicle started to loose motive power but did not stall. the contact pulled over in a parking lot where the vehicle stalled. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the residence. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 87,400. the vin was not available.
The vehicle listed on multiple occasions has completely shut-off as my speed is reduced while making a turn or coming to a stop at speeds below 15. no check engine light or codes have been recovered to show if something is malfunctioning or is wrong with the vehicle.
Was told the exhaust manifold bolt/studs warped and snapped and the exhaust manifold is warped, this happened on the driver side first but was covered under warranty but now happening on driver side out of warranty. was told my dealership they see this often and was told fca has fixed the problem in newer years by using stronger material in the bolts. this informs me that fca knows of the problem but the dealers won't cover it as a design defect. clearly there is a design defect with the exhaust manifold bolts as they should not be doing this and manufactures are suppose to account for these parts to see extreme temp changes. this has happened now twice to me but because i am no longer under warranty they won't fix the problem. the fist time was before 60,000 miles and now the other side is happening at 76,000 miles. to summarize the problem is warped exhaust manifold bolts and the manifold itself.
Had aem flash caused 10-15% mpg loss as well as throttle lag, loss of acceleration fca said there would be no change in performance or mpg
While driving at interstate speeds for approximately 130 miles (2.5 hours), vehicle sputtered and lost power, it stabilized at~40 mph. a check engine light and red lighting bolt displayed. we exited the interstate and made course to a dealership utilizing smaller hwys. en-route to the repair shop, at about 40 mph, vehicle started emitting smoke to include inside the cabin. stopped the vehicle and evacuated all 4 people inside. flames and heavy smoke soon became visible as we watched from afar. large flames grew and quickly engulfed the whole vehicle. fire department arrived and put out the fire.
Wasn't sure if this fell under power train or engine itself. 2014 ram 1500 3.6l engine. oil filter housing is plastic. noticed an oil leak upon changing oil. brought to dealer and hoped it fell under power train warranty. did not qualify so i'm out almost 1,000 for the repair. researching, this is a known common problem. dealer attributed it to being over tightened filter housing. well research shows this happens due to the temperature cycling over time. oil leaking onto the engine manifold creates a fire hazard under the proper conditions. manufacturer should put forward a recall to replace the housings or design one that is metal for an adequate replacement.
The lifters on the 2 cyl. that shut off to save fuel failed and ruined the cam shaft. this happened on my 2010 and now on my 2014. it started by skipping an lower rpms as you speed up or on an incline and then one day it set a check engine lite and skipped all the time.
The truck has an exaust leak. it's on the passenger side manifold. the bolt broke for some reason and is a big common issue in these trucks. there needs to be a recall because the bolts used wasnt strong enough to with stand pressure and corrosion. my cruise control also no longer works like it should. it will go into cruise control very rarely and when it does it's hard to get it out. i have to shut the truck off most of the time to get it out of cruise control mode. the lights that luminate the press buttons in the steering wheel flicker randomly. so it tells me it must be a wiring issue of some sort. i've contacted a dodge dealer ship and they are aware of the problem but they refuse to fix it as they say it's normal wear and tear. i'm afraid with the exaust leak the extra heat in the engine bay may result in melted wires or even worse a fire. thank you for reviewing this problem.
Noticed a small loss of radiator fluid, no visible leak, but did receive letter relating to a diesel egr cooler defect. now am concerned about steam leaking into my engine oil and thus contaminating the engine oil with damaging effects on the engine internal parts. egr valve should also be evaluated as it directly effects egr cooler.
Small holes in egr hoses, caused coolant leak. resulting in egr to not heat up enough and exhaust filter to get full and not go into regen.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. when starting the vehicle, it emitted a loud noise without warning. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a bolt was fractured in the manifold. the contact was given a cost estimate for the repairs. the contact spoke with earnhardt chrysler dodge jeep ram (1521 e drivers way, gilbert, az 85297, (480) 926-4000) and was informed that the bolt needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 68,000.
Vehicle stalls randomly vehicle stalls randomly while driving. dealer can't find issue. vehicle just shuts off which in my opinion makes it unsafe. dealer had a 'oh well good luck, trade it in and hope it doesn't stall' attitude.
I was driving and the truck started to idle high and then blew a big cloud of smoke like it was on fire i shut it off and it would not restart. i took it back to where i bought it to have the warranty fix it but they are stating there is an open recall for the intake manifold catching fire and will not fix it and there is no fix for a based on the recall info
After the v08 update very bad lag from the pedal and gas mileage dropped very significantly.
I had the aem update done on my 2014 ram ecodiesel. the recall drastically affected the performance of the truck. the acceleration is now dangerously slow. my wife, my son, and i have all nearly been in accidents right after the recall was done because we were not aware how the performance had been reduced so much. from a standstill the truck takes 3-5 seconds to begin to accelerate. the truck is dangerous to drive.
Had the aem emission recall done now truck runs bad. sluggish and no throttle response for 4 to 5 seconds. lost 5 miles per gallon. shift points changed. lots of pinging and turbo back flush. loud and sound like rod or cylinder rattling. no power pulling trailer or when climbing hills, have to keep it floored. dealer confirmed all problems and says nothing they can do. around 55000 miles.
The v08 emission recall has despite what the manufacturer claims decreased my mpg, increased turbo lag, made it unsafe to drive due to literally slower than acceptable throttle response, and daily diesel regeneration. all before this flash to the ecu there where no problems. but since it is a ticking time bomb just waiting for for me to get t-boned at an intersection for the delayed acceleration.
In motion lost all power was able to make it to the shop coolant bypass valve part number #68483334aa with research seems to be an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed also part is not available to order
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. vehicle experienced lost of automotive power vehicle would not properly accellerate failures after service for emissions recall the contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would not accelerate properly causing the vehicle to hesitate and loose power. the cause of the failure was not determined. the local dealer marlow motor company(707 n. commerce ave, front royal, va) was notified of the failure. the contact indicated that the failure began to occur after the vehicle was serviced for an emissions recall. no further information was available. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 105,000.
Due to the ecodiesel settlement program, i allowed fca to update the ecm to meet their requirements for the settlement. after the update, my truck is dangerously slow from a standing start. i never know if the truck will accelerate as i merge into traffic. sometime it is barely adequate but most of the time there is a 2 to 4 second delay before the turbo kicks in (around 2,000 rpm) and then there is a strong turbo leap because my foot is buried in the floor trying to get the truck to move. i have almost been t-boned or rear-ended several times crossing streets and merging into traffic. this is dangerous and fca told me there isn't anything that can be done because the truck didn't show any error codes.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 55 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact performed his own diagnostic and replaced the camshaft and crankshaft sensors. the contact stated that the engine continued to misfire and the check engine warning indicator illuminated again. the contact performed several repairs on his vehicle, but the failure recurred. the contact drove to whitten brothers of ashland (11409 washington hwy, ashland, va 23005, 804-798-6071) where it was diagnosed that either the motor or the camshaft and lifters needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 182,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle's fuel sensor failed and the fuel gauge went to zero. also, the instrument panel went blank and "fuel sensor failure" was displayed. the check engine indicator also illuminated. the vehicle was driven to lawless chrysler dodge (196 lexington st, woburn, ma 01801, (888) 384-4956) where it was diagnosed that a new fuel sensor was needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. the failure mileage was 75,000. *tr*jb
Exhaust manifold bolts have broken due to poor design causing an exhaust leak into the cabin. multiple complaints about this but no recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 60 mph at night, the electrical system completely failed without warning and then rebooted on its own. on another occasion, while driving at a low rate of speed, the engine completely failed without warning. the contact drove to m & m chrysler, dodge, jeep, and ram (131 mill st, liberty, ny 12754, 845-292-3500) to have the vehicle diagnosed, but no failure was found. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred back to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 200,000.
This 2014 ram ecodiesel received the approved emission modification from fca at an authorized dealership on june 5th 2019. after receiving the engine software update the truck experiences significant delay in acceleration causing entering to traffic to be dangerous and unsafe. example: on two occasions, i have attempted to enter traffic and have almost been broadsided as the vehicle will not accelerate despite pressing the gas pedal all the way down. on another occasion, i was attempting to drive up a steep road and the engine would appear to stall out causing the vehicle to remain stationary while attempting to go up hill. this vehicle never displayed any of this behavior prior to receiving the new engine software from fca. this vehicle is not dangerous, unsafe, and unpredictable to drive.
I had the emissions recall/repair for the ecodiesel engines per the class action lawsuit between the epa and fca. fca claims that it would not effect power or gas mileage. my truck now has a significant lag from a stop as well as from 10 mph to about 20mph when one hits the gas and tries to accelerate. this decrease in power makes this vehicle dangerous especially when trying to pull on to a street that has oncoming traffic.
Ecodiesel-post epa required repairs- turbo lag / delayed acceleration. up to a two second time delay before vehicle will proceed upon full throttle demand to merge into traffic or from a stop sign or needing to pass a vehicle at highway speeds.. the delay will cause an accident to occur. prior to the epa repairs, vehicle did not have any turbo lag/acceleration issues. one could accelerate with full, partial or minimal throttle and have confidence in the vehicle performing as needed. discussed this problem with local ram dealer, they stated there is no current fix being considered by fca. this is a real safety issue with vehicles being involved in accidents as the vehicle thinks about accelerating. please advise if there are any known remedies for this software issue? thank you in advance for your consideration. fortunately no bent sheet metal yet.
After completing the emissions recall on my eco diesel truck i have lost all starting power. it feels like i have lost turbo and take roughly 2-3 sec to accelerate from a stop. i have tried flooring it and still no take off; it slowly accelerates into traffic before it finally goes. so far i have been lucky enough to not be hit by oncoming traffic.
Was advised to take truck in for recall reflash due to eco diesel settlement package. after recall fix was conducted, engine sluggish, shifting not smooth and miles per gallon dropped significantly. all this after a trip of 8 hours at legal speed limits.
Exaust (carbon monoxide) leak: on my vehicle and many others i have heard, either the exaust manifold or the manifold bolts crack or break causing a leak and loud clicking noise. the dealer repaired the passenger side manifold under my warranty but now the drivers side has cracked or broken and the warranty has expired. the noise stops after warmup but here is till a question of how much carbon monoxide leakage is acceptable until he noise stops.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated while the vehicle was stationed to make a turn and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated and surged forward. the contact stated no warning light was illuminated. in addition, the vin was associated to nhtsa campaign number: 19v757000 (engine and engine cooling). the vehicle was taken to local dealer pueblo dodge chrysler jeep ram located at 2147 us 50 west, pueblo, co 81008, (719) 545-6666, and where they were made aware of the failure. the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair the part was not available for the repair. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. the manufacturer had not been informed of failure. the failure mileage was 60,000. parts distribution disconnect.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the engine misfired and caused the vehicle to idle roughly, shudder, and exhibit poor acceleration. the vehicle was taken to lithia dodge jeep (5001 grizzly ct, missoula, mt) where it was diagnosed that the engine cylinder head and valve train were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and provided case number: fca-68094470, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 90,000.
2014 ram ecodiesel. had the emissions update done per the fca class action lawsuit requirements. after the update, my truck has an extremely dangerous turbo/throttle lag. this lag can last anywhere from 2-5 seconds. additionally, the truck was advertised as 29 mpg on the highway. after the update, i am sitting around 17 mpg. i have lodged a complaint with fca and am still waiting to hear back. this is no longer an emissions issue, this is a safety issue and i can guarantee you it will lead to numerous accidents and possibly death. a simple google search will show that this issue is not unique to my ecodiesel. almost every ram and jeep that had the emissions update is dealing with the same safety risks.
Approaching a stop sign, i step on the brakes then vehicle went into a slow coast mode. ( a red sign turned on, indicating an "electrical brake" issue). then indicates "switch gear to park", soon after proceeded as normal. the next day as i was stop on a drive thru, same indication occur, engine power went off then "electrical brake" , next thing was "switch gear to park" resuming to normal operation. very concern about this it is my only form of transportation to and from doctors visit, it has about 46,000 miles on it, very well taken care of. would not want it to fail on me at a middle of an interception. in between these events, their is no light that appears. is this a recall issue that can be address immediately please thank you.
After having the aem update completed, i lost 5mpg in fuel economy (from 23 mpg combined, to 18 mpg combined), i also am experiencing an incredibly unsafe amount of acceleration lag (4-6 seconds). when pulling into traffic travelling at 40+mph, this lag in acceleration causes me to roll into traffic with no power or ability to accelerate until the engine decides to kick in.this lag in acceleration is the biggest concern as the duration of lag is inconsistent and unpredictable. i do not feel safe in this vehicle and am not confident in it's performance anymore. i, like many other owners would like to get rid of this truck. i think fca should take bake the truck becuase it has become a financial/safety nightmare. as of january 2019, i have spent over $7000 on the exhaust system prior to the aem update coming out (egr cooler clogged, turbo hoses bad, etc.) luckliy, i just had the egr cooler replaced under the new warranty but the drivability (good fuel economy and power) is no longer present. if this truck functioned like this when i first test drove it, i would never have bought it.
Oil filter adapter oil leak dealer replaced one seal .continues to leak less. pentastar v6 dealer refused to replace oil adapter. fire hazard. bell housing and transmission pan soaked with motor oil.
1. had to replace the exhaust sytem because the automatic exhaust stopped working after towing the truck to the dealer to create a forced regen 2. replaced 2 turbos 3. after emission recall was completed, engine was loosing antifreeze and overheated. added antifreeze several times and then the engine started blowing white smoke, engine knocking like a loose crank or rocker arm truck lost complete power. the truck was delivered to ram dealer in riverhead, after spending 1600 dollars for engine diagnosis, which was clear apparent to anyone , the said engine was no good.
My vehicle has tremendous lag when trying to accelerate, but it is not all the time. i never know when pulling out into a road at a left hand turn if i am going to get throttle response or a dead petal. too many times not i have been stuck with tremendous lag and almost rear ended by vehicles while turning onto a road. this was never an issue until a forced "fix" for a recall on the ecodiesel engine. upon initial acceleration sometimes there is a 1-2 second lag before the vehicle even seems to accelerate at all. my mile per gallon has dropped several points and def is being over consumed. i do not know when the truck will accelerate or just lag out on me. i do not know if this is a motor or transmission or none of the above issue. i do know that many people with the "aem fix" for the recalled rams is having the same issues. this vehicle does not seem safe to drive to to its unpredictability with acceleration. from a cold start, the vehicle is extremely sluggish for several minutes or miles, and that is in the warm ca sun.... i am waiting for the vehicle to not work at all. this has been ongoing for several months since having the vehicle "fixed"
I had the recent recall completed at my local dodge dealership and am now scared to drive my truck as there is considerable "lag" upon acceleration. this is a life safety issue as i was almost struck by oncoming traffic. they stated the recall did not affect performance but it has definitely affected performance. i brought it beck to the dealership and they could not explain why it was doing what it was doing and instead said i need to change my oil that of which i changed 2000 miles ago and also try an injector cleaner. my fuel mileage has also decreased from 25 or 26 mpg hwy to 20 mpg hwy.
On june the 5th 2019 my ecodiesel recall was performed at the dealer. it was part of a class action lawsuit. three days later the truck started running bad. it has dead fuel pedal and loss of power. i brought it back for a second time to have the recall preformed again and the same thing happened again. it is a safety problem as of now. i'm afraid to put my family in the truck due to the fact that when i pull out into on coming traffic i dont know if i will have power or not. i'm scheduled for the 9th of september to attempt the recall a 3rd time.
Exhaust manifold bolts broken causing an exhaust leak at start up.
I have a 2014 ram 1500 with the 3.0l ecodiesel engine. after receiving the v08 emissions recall, i am experiencing excessive turbo lag/slow acceleration when the engine is cold. it is bad enough that i am forced to step on the throttle just to get the vehicle through intersections or when merging on highways. it was not like this prior to the v08 emissions recall campaign and the acceleration lag has almost caused a couple.accidents as the truck was unable to accelerate out of situations in which it used to have no problems prior to the v08 recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 19v347000 (latches/locks/linkages) and 19v757000 (engine and engine cooling). the contact called bonneville and son chrysler dodge jeep ram at 877-812-7782 (located at 625 hooksett rd, manchester, nh 03104) and was informed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact stated that the coolant level of the vehicle was low. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000. vin tool confirms parts not available for 19v757000 (engine and engine cooling). parts distribution disconnect for 19v347000 (latches/locks/linkages).
2014 ram ecodiesel - i recently had my aem recall completed at an authorized dealer with the promise that performance and fuel mileage would not be affected. not only were they both negatively affected, they were affected to the point of a safety concern. my gas mileage going down by over 5mpg is nothing compared to almost getting t-boned by oncoming traffic due to extensive turbo lag (2-3 seconds) after the aem was completed. this has happened more than once when i go to make a left turn from a dead stop, press the accelerator, and the truck just sits there. luckily there has been a shoulder for me to swerve into to get out of the way from being rear-ended. the 0-60 time while entering the freeway on ramp is also cause for concern. multiple times i have had a fellow drive lay on their horn because the truck just cannot gain speed fast enough. now, if i were getting better gas mileage with the decrease in performance, that would be one thing. but to get significantly worse gas mileage and have this death box not accelerate when the accelerator is pressed is just awful. fca has lied to their consumers with this update and should not be allowed to have that recall installed on vehicles.
