Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Many instances of the car jerking, jerking forward when trying to slow down or stop. the rpm revving up to dangerous levels for no reason and trouble driving uphill. my car has become a major safety issue. first the fuel gauge stopped working, which caused me to run out of gas and stalling in the middle of an intersection. next, my car stalled for no reason while driving, that was repaired, something to do with a relay switch, now the transmission issues, possible radiator failure and the need of a new catalytic converter in a car with 100k miles.... that's insane !!! someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed if they don't fix these vehicles and people don't have thousands of dollars laying around to fix it. so, no food, rent or bills being paid for over a month just to pay for repairs is even more of a hardship to families. please help us before something happens. thanks !!! *tr

Crack in the radiator assembly occurred leading to internal leakage of the engine coolant. 2005 nissan pathfinder with automatic transmission began hard shifting in the fall of 2010. this was a constant daily occurrence if the driver forgot to take the pathfinder out of overdrive. it sounded like the old 1970s ford universal joint as it shifted into gear. at times the car felt like the back-end was being pulled in the opposite direction. at cruising speed, the back wheels would sound like they were running over the corrugated concrete near a toll booth or lane dividers on a highway and the transmission would cause the car to shudder. it would seem to fall out of gear while the car was moving at speed. going uphill, the pathfinder would hard shift and hesitate to engage into gear. accelerating on to the freeway was never an issue, but it would not immediately shift into the appropriate gear at highway speeds. on several occasions, it would stay in neutral when shifted into reverse. the most common symptom was the shuddering noises at 30 mph. if the overdrive was turned off, all symptoms would diminish or disappear completely. took it to the dealer in december and they could not duplicate. took it to the dealer in may and they could duplicate, but not consistently and saw no mixing of coolant and transmission fluid. towed it in to the dealer in august, the damage is done, the fluids have mixed and the transmission computer has shorted out. repair recommended is to replace transmission (including computer) and radiator and hoses. customer cannot afford the $6,000 price tag on the repair. nissan north america will not assist as pathfinder is out of warranty. *kb

My 2005 nissan pathfinder was losing speed especially when passing vehicles on the highway, the 2005 nissan pathfinder would not go into reverse. i noticed that the car was not running properly for over 3 weeks. i took the pathfinder to a transmission expert and they did diagnostic tests and the expert said that the radiator had a hole in it and radiator fluid went into the transmission and the transmission was gone. he showed me the transmission stick that showed me that radiator fluid mixed in with the transmission fluid. the transmission expert said that they have seen a number of nissan pathfinders with the same problem. a week later, i took my 2005 nissan pathfinder to another transmission expert for a second opinion, this expert did the diagnostics and confirmed that the radiator had a hole in it that allowed for radiator fluid to go into the transmission. he also stated that they have seen a number of 2005 nissan pathfinders with the same problem and he recommended that i go to a nissan dealership to see what they say. i went sheehy nissan in glen burnie, md in which they did a diagnostic test and found that coolant mixing with the trans fluid causing improper shifting. the recommendations were to replace the trans assembly, radiator, and trans cooler. the service manager told me that nissan had an extended warranty on the radiator for 80, 000 miles or up to 2013. i had 85,000 miles on my 2005 nissan pathfinder. i called nissan usa and told them the problem and faxed the diagnostic invoice to them. two weeks later they told me that they would pay for the parts and i would have to pay for the labor. luckily, my insurance company paid for the radiator, trans, and trans cooler. nissan has known about this problem for and refuses to do a recall on the radiator and this is unacceptable! this affects 2005-2007 nissan pathfinders and this is a safety hazard if the vehicle trans stalls or shuts off while driving on highways and roads. a recall is needed! *tr

Started experiencing shudder when the automatic transmission moved between 1st and 2nd gear. scheduled appointment at dealer to investigate and minimized driving in the meantime. symptom did not occur over two day period until driving on third day where the issue worsened rapidly until transmission became inoperable above 10 mph. i investigated the issue and learned that this is a well known issue with the pathfinder where the radiator fluid fails into the transmission, causing both the radiator and transmission to fail. i inspected the antifreeze to observe traces of transmission fluid. checking the transmission fluid, the fluid was darken and above the high-level mark for the fluid level. i had dealer investigate and this is in fact what had failed. nissan had extended the warranty to 80k miles specifically because of this issue. my car currently has 89k miles and i am looking at a $6000 repair bill that i refuse to repair. nissan is offering zero assistance to address the problem. this is a known issue with nissan pathfinders. there are thousands of complaints on the issue with nissan and there have been no actions other than raising the warranty to 80k miles. this is gross error in the design of the product and can cause significant injury depending on the timing of the transmission failure. do people have to die to get nissan to take responsibility for their poor design? i am done with nissan as a brand and suggest that the fed investigate their inaction in addressing this problem. *tr

The family and i all got into the car after grocery shopping, it seemed to be a normal night except when my mother went in for reverse to get out of the parking spot the car accelerated backwards and the car took over, our mother was yelling saying ' the brakes wont work ' everybody was in such a panic the car hit two circles in the store parking lot. luckily no one was there. we ran into the store gate which was there just in case those sort of things happen but my brother who was sitting in the passenger seat stop the car by putting it in parking. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate when shifting gears and would not engage when shifted into reverse. and the vehicle would lung forward at any time. in addition, the vehicle would lunge forward abnormally at any time without warning. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified and assisted the contact with the failure. the failure mileage was 92,900 and the current mileage was 93,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated the transmission on the vehicle failed twice. the contact stated the transmission began to function with some resistance. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the radiator failed causing coolant to mix with the transmission fluid. the failure and current mileages were 124,128. the consumer stated the design of the cooling system on the vehicle allowed for cross-contamination of the transmission fluid with the engine coolant. the valve was defective, and ultimately failed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle shook violently without any warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician stated that the transmission needed to be flushed and the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any further assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.

2005 nissan pathfinder - noticed shudder around 60 mph intermittently for about one week then problem became more frequent occurring around 40-45 mph. while trying to take it to dealership, transmission failed while making a left turn causing the vehicle to stall in the path of oncoming traffic. dealership said that radiator had failed, leaking coolant into transmission which required both to be replaced. since failure occurred at 90,000 miles, warranty on radiator that has a known manufacturer defect is void and thus previously covered transmission warranty is also void. nissan of north america will not stand behind their product and recall the part, leaving their customers stranded both on the side of the road and in their wallets. transmission failure is an obvious safety issue for many reasons. the loophole appears to be that since the failure is due to the radiator, anything relating to the transmission is null and void. *tt

Transmission/radiator coolant cross contamination causing the pathfinder to stop in the middle of the highway. my 2 year old son was in the child seat in the back seat of the vehicle. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled numerous times while driving at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed that located the failure at the radiator. the contact was advised that radiator fluid mixed with the transmission fluid and caused the vehicle to stall. the radiator and transmission was replaced however, the failure was not corrected. the check engine warning light illuminated as the heather and air conditioning unit failed to operate. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the dealer inspected the vehicle and located the failure as the radiator. the dealer advised the contact that the radiator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and denied assistance with the repair. the failure mileage was 130,841 and the current mileage was 144,121. updated 1/7/13 *cn the consumer stated radiator coolant leaked into the transmission, twice. the first time, was in july 2011, and nissan replaced the transmission and radiator at a cost of $ 6,981.86. the second time it occurred was in september 2012, at a cost of $ 1499.19. nissan replaced the transmission with an after market transmission and flushed the radiator. updated 01/09/13

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who stated that radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and a sensor within the transmission needed to be replaced in order to provide a full diagnosis of the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the sensor for the transmission was on back order. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

Nissan has a known issue with their radiators and faulty hoses. these result in coolant leaking in the transmission and ultimately destroying both. this issue is prevalent at 85k miles and beyond which is out of warranty for both. this leaks causes the pathfinder to be unsafe as it cannot be driven until it is repaired for over 6k. the pathfinder does not shift properly and will ultimately stall completely while in use. nissan will not cover this issue which should have been a recall. *tr

I am filing this complaint since nissan does not do anything with the problem to be fixed, i have a 2005 nissan pathfinder, when were on the road our car is having trouble shifting starts jerking, and were so scared that will not make it home because the way its acting we finally made it home and the ca would not reverse we look online and search what' causing the problem and read a bunch of complaint with the consumer at automotive.com stating that the reason for the problem is the radiator fluid leaked into the transmission that causing the transmission to burn, called around with a bunch of auto mechanic and when i mention that i need my transmission replace the mechanic immediately said you know you need your radiator replace because that is causing your transmission problem i filed a complaint with nissan and denied the complaint this should be in the recall because this is dangerous if you weren't aware of the problem if your on the road hope you can help us with this problem. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder with 93,000 miles. had original issue with transmission in 2009 a slight shimmy and once the transmission slipped, as soon as it slipped i took it to the dealership. the service manager at the dealership told me coolant had leaked into transmission and would have to replace: radiator, and transmission at ~$6,500. i asked for options the dealer said i could try replacing radiator, flush transmission and add new transmission fluid for ~2,500, he said it may make it 5 more miles or 500k miles, but expected the transmission would at some point fail. i took the vehicle to local trusted repair shop and had radiator replaced and transmission flushed with nissan transmission fluid and filled with nissan transmission fluid for less than $1k. had no issues since. on june 6th out of the blue as i was driving home from the lake, i felt the shimmy again, immediately backed off the accelerator and then slowly got back into the gas, as i did i felt the transmission slip a little. less than 1,000 feet down the road i noticed smoke in the rearview mirror and immediately pulled the vehicle to the side of the road within 1,000' as i came to a stop thick black smoke came from beneath the vehicle and shut the car off, and i realized the car was on fire. i opened the door to get out and flames were coming from under the running boards. within 3 minutes the car and all it's contents were completely destroyed by the fire. it was obvious from my vantage point and the pictures i took during the fire that the fire originated from the transmission overheating and the catastrophic failure resulting in a thermal event. the vehicle was totally destroyed, thank god i was alone.and the dealership could care less. *tr

Memorial day weekend we were in heavy traffic due to being a saturday and also a holiday weekend. mph was 40 and our suv suddenly lurched violently forward. thankfully my husband has fast reflexes and is a very good driver and managed to get control of the car or there would have certainly been bad consequences due to where we were. we also realized there were other signs that something was very wrong and had it taken to a nissan service shop. this is from their notes: "they found internal transmission failure due to auto trans cooler which is internal part of the radiator let go, remove radiator and perform engine/coolant flush twice flush out trans lines twice and replace auto trans with factory reman unit and radiator." they took the suv june 6th and we did not get it back until aug 6th due to nissan having trouble filling all the transmission replacements because of so many of the same transmission/radiator failures and we were told this by the nissan service technician. paying the almost $6000. and losing our second vehicle for 2 months was frustrating but that we could have been very seriously injured or worse, on top of the many surrounding vehicles and drivers who would have been affected when the suv went out of control lurching forward as it did it is shocking to us that nissan has done nothing about this for years. we can live without the money. we are grateful we came out of it safe. from so many others reporting the same dangerous symptoms of the well known problems to us is scary. *tr

The timing chain had to be replaced at 65k miles. it cost $1200 and it's a common nissan problem.

Radiator coolant and transmission fluid mixing, causing major problems with vehicle. hesitant shifting, or worse, no shifting or movement at all. especially dangerous on highway (interstate). *tr

Around 95000 miles the transmission began very abrupt jerking when accelerating. around may 2011 transmission began slipping, i googled the problem and discovered many people had the same problem due to radiator cracked. i looked into my radiator and discovered strawberry looking fluid . replaced my radiator , an flushed it a few times and then flushed my transmission which had the same color fluids, i believe nissan was aware of these faulty radiators and transmission and drag it out through court so people would loose their opportunity to use their warranty. i am currently trying to get nissan to replace my faulty transmission and i am willing to pay a $3000.00 fee but so far they are reluctant. any suggestions you may have would be appreciated. *tr

I own a 2005 nissan pathfinder. nissan extended their warranties on the 2005 pathfinders to 80,000. the reason they did this is because they know their defective radiators have been causing transmissions to go out due to contamination from the radiator fluid. since i was deployed, i was unaware of the extension or the problem until my transmission started giving me problems in may of 2011. the other day, i tried to pull out of a gas station and i lost all acceleration due to the transmission slipping almost causing a serious accident. i have a nissan complaint ticket but unless it is forced into recall, i will have to pay for my new transmission on a car i just recently paid off. as a consumer, i should not have to pay for someone else's design defect that causes major mechanical cost and safety issues. after doing some research, most customers are being told to come and have the transmission flushed for approx. 500$ to be told the transmission needs replacement. this defect needs to be addressed immediately before someone dies as a result of nissans negligence in standing behind their product. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder internal radiator leak causing the transmission to fail started with strong vibration between 40-45 mph. dealer inspection states internal rupture of the oil cooler contaminating the oil in the transmission. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle vibrated abnormally while driving various speeds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transmission fluid was replaced and the vibration was corrected temporarily. the vehicle was taken back to the local transmission mechanic and a diagnostic was performed which located the failure as the radiator fluid leaking into the transmission. as a result, the transmission failed and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.

Radiator coolant leaked into the transmission resulting in transmission failure.

Due to a known manufacturing defect in the 2005 nissan pathfinder transmission cooling system, my daughter was stranded by a vehicle that wouldn't move. after researching the problem i have found that this is a fairly common problem in the 2005 year model. there is a problem with the engine cooling system and the transmission mixing fluids, thereby causing catastrophic damage to the transmission. leading up to the transmission failure, the transmission may fail to shift or it may downshift at highway speeds causing overspeeding of the engine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving, the vehicle started shaking violently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the radiator was leaking coolant in the transmission, which caused it to be defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 61,000.

Since april 2011 my 2005 nissan pathfinder started to rattling and vibration under the vehicle. after having it checked by a mechanic in may 2011 he stated that the transmission and coolant is missing together. the fluid was changed on june 26, 2011, that came out looking like chocolate milk and it is still vibrating at 45 and 64 miles per hour. i under stand that this is a manufacturer problem for the way it was designed and should be fixed by the car dealers and not the consumer. the solenoid in the transmission jumps offline and once the vehicle is turned off and back on it resets and the vibration continue as you drive. the changing of the transmission fluid did not help the problem. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated the radiator and transmission fluids were mixing together abnormally and causing the vehicle to stall. in addition, the vehicle would not change gears as a result of the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact to replace the transmission and radiator. there were no recalls for the failure. the manufacturer was contacted who advised that they will give her a return call within a few days. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 102,000.

Automatic transmission is failing. failure first appeared at speeds between 40 and 50 mph and now experiencing transmission failure from 30 mph to 60 mph. pathfinder now has 71560 miles. *tr

The problem first began with my 2005 nissan pathfinder on march 27, 2011, when i first noticed there was no heat in the cabin. then on april 29, 2011, while driving on the highway, i noticed my vehicle would not accelerate in excess of 45 mph. it seemed that the transmission was slipping. as the nissan was parked in our garage, we noticed fluid leaking onto the ground. the fluid had a milky white substance in it. after doing some research, we realized that with this particular model, there were known problems with coolant leaking into the transmission. we had the pathfinder diagnosed on june 3, 2011 by billings nissan. we had informed the service department at nissan that we were suspecting the transmission was contaminated with coolant. nissan informed us that it was impossible for the coolant to leak into the transmission because they are separate units and that the milky white substance in the transmission was a result of air entering the transmission. after much dispair, we decided to trade in our vehicle and took a huge loss on the trade-in value. we felt that if we decided to replace the transmission, and that the radiator was in fact damaged and also needed to be replaced, that we would only be faced with the same issue down the road and would need to replace the transmission a 2nd time. on june 28, 2011, we received a report from the dealership that we traded the pathfinder at stating the transmission was indeed contaminated with coolant and that the radiator and transmission both needed replacing. if only we had received proper diagnosis from nissan initially, our course of action may have been different and would have thought about fixing the pathfinder versus trading it in. as a result, we have lost money on the trade in value, and have incurred an unexpected expense of a new vehicle (payments, registration, insurance). dealer lied to us. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *tt

I have 2005 nissan pathfinder le 4x4 ,my transmission has gone bad after searching online many complaint about the transmission coolant(water) entering the transmission and locking the transmission , after doing a search online i'm not the only one with this problem 100's of complaints have been told/advise to nissan usa , transmission could lock on you while you are driving very serious ,dangerous ,took suv to dealer wanted me to buy a new transmission ,told them about all the complaint service dept.told me that the was my problem not nissan's printed out and show them all the complaint no luck.....there should be a recall / transmission has to be change many many complaints .......... *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder is currently being repaired for transmission problems due to radiator leaking in the transmission. i have had trouble gaining speed atleast 6 times due to hesitation and sometimes wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear and wouldn't go no more than 25mph. i have taken the highway and it would do fine until i got off an exit and it would stall at 25mph. i have taking it to get it fixed but the transmission for my vehicle is on back order due to other thousands like me having this problem. this is a safety issue and this matter should be resolved by nissan but no recall has not taken place as i know of. it put many drivers and their families at risk on an accident and to others sharing the highway and roads. please help me and many others find a way to either get reimbursement for our repairs. this transmission issue is a defect and is dangerous! so far my cost of repairs is a total $4,424.32. my truck is a 2005 and the transmission shouldn't have failed me so early. i don't do hard driving and never towed or pulled anything heavy. please help me and my family. thanks and god bless! *tr

My 2005 pathfinder's transmission slipped. found out that my radiator had failed and mixed radiator and transmission fluid. nissan knew this was a problem and instead of recalling, they extended warranty until 80,000 or feb, 2013 but did not notify anyone of the possible problem. my car has 86,600 mile on it. nissan will not cover or pay any part of the repair. it is all over web discussion boards and on consumeraffairs.com and edmonds.com from other with the same problem and result with nissan corporate. when will nissan end up owning up to this defect and pay for fixes. it is an expensive repair that many are having to pay. i will be sending a formal complaint to nissan and to consumer affairs boards but someone needs to step up and get nissan to own up to the problem. *tr

Transmission failure. historical coolant line issues. requires rebuild. *tr

Transmission began to slip, had vehicle examined, part in radiator failed and contaminated transmission with coolant which damaged transmission, fluids were flushed and part in radiator bypassed however transmission was not saved failed immediately afterwards while being driven and almost caused accident while my wife and children were in vehicle. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan pathfinder le 4x4. i purchased the car new. during the life of the car i often noticed the car downshifting for no apparent reason but it would go away and i forgot about it. about 6 months ago and about 113000 miles it got worse and started making noises and often it sounded like i had a flat tire. my mechanic inspected the car and thought it might be the transmission so he referred me to a transmission specialist who informed me after an inspection that water was in the trans and the transmission was shot. he said this was due to a faulty part or something that allowed water to get into the transmission from the radiator and that there might be trans fluid in the radiator or worse, in the engine. he seemed to think that if left this way the trans could seize up causing a great amount of damage to the engine and possibly the car going out of control due to this potential seizing up condition. fortunately, there was no trans fluid in the radiator. i had it flushed and everything seems to be okay. checking on line i have noticed numerous complaints for this year, make and model of nissan regarding this exact issue. almost $4000 later hopefully my problem has been solved. nissan needs to step up and make restitution. *tt

Vibration from rear wheel begins at 40 mph and increases with vehicle speed. tires and u joints have been replaced - problem persists. identical to transmission/radiator issues described in several consumer forums. i am reluctant to drive this vehicle, especially on the highway. *tr

Radiator cracked and leaked into transmission which lead to transmision failure

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated the radiator cracked causing fluid to leak into the transmission. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the dealer stated the radiator and the transmission needed to be replaced. the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic who replace the transmission and radiator. after the repairs, the contact noticed that the engine began to malfunction. the contact did not take the vehicle back to the dealer for a diagnostic test. the failure mileage was 107,000.

I was driving on the highway and the transmission failed. it was sudden and there was no warning. i was driving along fine and all of the sudden i had no power. i was able to pull over and get help. when i took the vehicle into a repair shop i was told the radiator leaked fluid into the transmission and ruined it. i had to pay to replace both the transmission and the radiator. i also received a letter from nissan stating this was a known design flaw. when i asked to be reimbursed i was told i was outside of the warranty mileage. i disagree if the damage was caused by a defective part, not wear and tear and not misuse of the vehicle they should recall this on all vehicles regardless of mileage, etc. i have tried contacting nissan several times and i have been told there is nothing they can do. the damage cost about five thousand dollars to fix and it all had to come out of my pocket. i am so disgusted with this company and the terrible way they handle their mistakes. i will never buy another vehicle from them and i have warned others to get their vehicles checked before they get stranded somewhere or possibly have an accident because of the gross negligence of nissan. *tr

Was driving through an intersection and the car immediately slowed down and would not drive forward, cars had to slam on there brakes and we were almost hit from behind and the left side. we had it towed 20 miles to a transmission shop to have them tell us radiator fluid has leaked into the transmission and would be $3500 to fix, nissan offered no help or compensation, called both the dealer and nissan consumer affairs with no success, neither wanted or insisted any help was treated like i didnt exist, caused extreme pain for my family. *tr

This car has had one issue after another. my fuel sensor went out, had a recall on the relay (was stalling as i was driving), had my transmission and radiator mix fluid and cause both to fail and my catalytic converters are defective. i need the catalytic to be changed so i can pass a smog check... it has been such a pain, expense and concern for safety. when is nissan going to realize that they made faulty vehicles? do people have to have horrific accidents before they do anything about it ? i paid good money, hard earned money for this vehicle, brand new. the costs to repair are ridiculous. my husband has a car older than me, more wear and tear and has never had an issue. the catalytic issue needs to be fixed before it kills the motor and makes it a useless box. to me, nissan doesn't care about its customers or their safety. the relay and transmission issues almost caused us huge accidents. without quick thinking and quick reflexes we could have been seriously hurt. something needs to be done !!! thank you for your assistance. *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder leaks coolant fluid into transmission which cause gear shifting problems. repair is $6000 for radiator and transmission. *tr

Transmission started slipping started jerking while driving, alsosounded like tires were making noise especially around 40 mph. i was driving on rt 62 near my home and was very fortunate not being t-boned as a pulled out,my pathfinder didn't go like it was supposed to, fortunately the oncoming vehicle stopped. i took it to a nissan dealer and they said that the 2005,2006,2007 pathfinder were known to have an issue with the cooler failing and breaking down the transmission and that they knew about the faulty cooler for along time. nissan said they increased the warranty from 60,000 to 80,000 but other than that they have done nothing. and didn't inform the public. my family and i, didn't get hurt or hurt someone else, however this scenario could be very dangerous and nissan should inform the public and recall the transmission and faulty cooler before deaths start happening. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan pathfinder 4x4 se off road with 115,000 miles . beautiful vehicle but beginning to have problems the fuel gauge will go to empty when full , also having hesitation about 40 miles an hour .i read about the horror story with radiator problem causing transmission problem . i have an appointment at a nissan dealer this weekend for the recall on the ecm so i will have further info on the hesitation , nissan recalled the fuel gauge problem but limited to 72,000 miles vehicle only ,i think they should up hold the nissan rep and take care of these problems also the transmission problems due to faulty parts . these problems are not normal wear and tear . *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle suddenly lost power. the contact stated there was also a vibration underneath the hood of the vehicle. the contact managed to drive the vehicle home. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technicians stated radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission and it needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

Nissan needs to step up! this is an unbelievable amount of what is wrong with the world. since having the many other problems fixed on my pathfinder(2005) i am now facing an issue of it running sluggishly, high rpm's and less get up. that was one of my favorite things when we purchased the truck, i thought it was safe. i felt comfortable merging into traffic with my 4 children i knew we had power on our side. the tire pressure is constantly ( 1x a week) setting off the tpms, then there is the squeaky brakes and other rattling, vibrating noises. the other thing is the check engine light that randomly comes on for some reason then will mysteriously be gone a few miles later. we bought nissan thinking it was still a stable reliable company that made a strong product and stood behind it...well were we ever wrong! never again!!! *tr

2005 nissan pathfinder. consumer states several problems with the vehicle. she states that it is hard to start, paint is peeling, overdrive light comes on when braking to make a turn and a loud noise was coming from the motor. *kb

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. the contact noticed that the vehicle jerked and went into failsafe mode. the contact called the dealer who stated that the transmission and driveshaft needed to be replaced. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance and referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the current and failure mileages was approximately 85,000. the vin was unavailable.

At about 40,000 miles fuel gauge stopped working. and started having intermittent electrical problems. headlights going on and off when in park. fan starting when key is turned but not cranked. anti-theft system locking me out from starting the truck. 70000 miles vehicle would intermittently not start. it would crank but not start. took it to nissan and was told nothing could be done on their part. i was told it was the ecu, bmu, tmu, and ipdm were all bad. i replaced the ipdm and bmu and ecu. truck still ran rough. at 91000 miles nissan now says my transmission is bad due to the radiator coolant leaking into the transmission but i am out of the 80000 mile warranty. nissan said they will pay half to fix if i pay half of the $4600 transmission repair. nissan can not explain why this happened but acknowledged that this is a big complaint of the 2005 pathfinder. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 60 mph, the transmission responded extremely slow with slight hesitation. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the defect was contributed to a crack in the radiator. the leaking coolant from the radiator caused severe damage to the transmission; however the radiator was replaced. in addition, the technician informed the contact that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 70,225. the vin was unavailable.
