Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warning. the vehicle was taken to a local shop where it was diagnosed that the crank shaft sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 87,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.
Car was back to dealer about 16 months ago for recall ntb06-051a. at that time crank angle sensor was replaced and ecm was reprogrammed . this month august 2011 same symptoms bucking hard to start stalling. taken to and independent shop and confirmed another crank sensor failure. *kb
Vehicle stopped running without warning. reference 07v527000. stated by manufacturer vin not included in recall. repair and description of campaign id above reflect exact same issue. extend recall to include all 2005 altimas. *kb
My 2003 nissan altima with 31,000 miles had the check engine light come on and then go out after a day or so. the light came back on again about a week later. it appeared the vehicle was sluggish and prone to stalling once this happened. i had the code read and found it to be a cam and crank sensor code. i took it to a nissan dealer after contacting them. my vehicle was not part of the recall, though many nissans suffer from this condition including altimas and sentras of this year. i contacted nissan and they informed me this vin was not part of the recall, though it is the condition described. they also said it was out of the drive train warranty as well. i therefore had to pay for the repair, which was $382. since the car was prone to stalling it appears that this known condition should have been included in the recall, since it is unsafe. *kb
2006 nissan altima caught on fire, june 8, 2011. my son was driving from work to home on the highway and orange sparks was coming from underneath the car, so he pulled over on the median. when he proceeded to lift up the hood of the car, black smoke and flames were coming from the hood and he and other drivers called 911. according to the fire department, oil and other fluids were coming from the car down the highway on fire. my son is ok, but i can not get any help with this car. i have a burned car sitting in my driveway and can not drive it everything underneath the hood is melted. i still owe on this car. need help! i only had the car for 8 months. *kb
There was a recall id#06v223000 for 2006 nissan altima for oil consumption. my car is experiencing the same problem as the above mentioned recall id. describes. according to nissan consumer affairs, "that all recalls and service campaign info is vehicle indentification number specific, depending on the mfg date and the plant where the vehicle was assembled. therefore not all models are subject to the same recalls" their saying my car dose not fall under that recall. *tr
No real warning. engine starting knocking one day and found out it was 2 quarts low after changing it the previous week. put 2 quarts of oil more in and drove 300 miles to only find that it was low again. i have to put oil in around every 200 miles now to prevent my engine from making loud noises. the mechanic i took it too said the cat converters and motor needed replacement. i am a college student and cannot afford a replacement engine or a new car so am stuck dumping 2 quarts in every 200 miles. *tr
At 85,000 miles, the car began to shudder and had difficulty accelerating; the diagnosis was a blown head gasket. at around 130,000 miles the car started feeling rough and making rattling sounds. the dealer replaced the right and back engine mounts, leaking valve cover gaskets, front lower control arms, and left front hub and bearing but the sound still exists. at 141000 miles the "check engine light" came on and the dealer replaced the catalytic converter. at 144,000 miles, the car suddenly would not go more than 10 mph. after turning the car off, the engine initially would not turn over; after a few minutes, the car started again but still could not go more than 10 mph. the second stop seemed to temporarily revive the car because it could be driven at normal speeds (at least long enough to make the 1 mile drive home) but it emitted a strong burning smell. at this point the diagnosis is irrelevant - it's time for a new, more reliable car. *tr
2006 altima-sluggish performance-had to put 2 quarts of oil in car today-just had oil change two weeks ago. while driving up a slope car starts to jerks hard-pulled off road-cut the car off-took several tries before car would start. it has been doing this for the past two days... *tr
