Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Nissan Altima

I last month filed a complaint with the nthsa about my 2014 altima's bad transmission. i had contacted nissan usa multiple times. they first acknowledged liability (even though it is out of warranty) and offered to pay the part (new transmission). but on aug 15, 2018, they claimed that since the local dealer "cannot duplicate the concern", my car is "okay to drive", denying any responsibility of any future accidents or damage. my local dealership nissan maguire does not agree with nissan usa. the car is not in good operable condition. when i shift the gear to drive, the stepping on the gas does not deliver power to the engine for 2-3 seconds. so, when i stop on the hill and put it to drive, the car rolls down for seconds until it moves forward. but nissan usa renounced its liability and refused to provide a new transmission. i asked what if i get involved in an accident and all they said is contact them when it happens. i think they are accomplict in murdering me and others on the road.

Last year cvt was slipping, delayed acceleration when at a stop light then trying to drive, they updated software. same thing happened out of nowhere the other day. no prior transmission issues and the car had delayed acceleration twice when i stopped at lights, then minutes later i turn onto a busy street and the cvt transmission slipped, causing my car to rev up to 4rpm but barely go 20 mph. being told by nissan the entire transmission needs to be replaced. only has 82000 miles. no prior transmission issues.

In december 2016 with approximately 40k miles on odometer, the car stalled at an intersection. after starting again, it stalled each time while putting it in gear. after a tow to nissan dealer, they informed me of a transmission problem. they mentioned replacing the transmission, but decided to change an internal component (i don't remember what part) to the transmission instead of the whole thing, which at the time i was o.k. with because i wasn't pleased a 2 1\2 year old car with 40k miles which i bought brand new should need a transmission replacement (especially wasn't pleased it would have been with a rebuilt one). it ran ok afterwards, but something wasn't the same as when it was new. several times i reported a problem with the revs just before the car comes to a complete stop. rpm's would spike and then dip down low like the car was going to stall before leveling out again. i brought the car to the dealer couple times afterwards and they explained it was normal and similar models they tested did the same thing. fast forward to august 2018, the car now has 65k miles and the problem with stalling while driving it has re-occurred. another tow to dealer and now they suggest a $4000+ transmission replacement (with a rebuilt one). not a happy nissan owner! have read many online complaints with this year and model vehicle (2014 nissan altima) with same problem. nissan should be held accountable and declare a recall on these cars. not safe to drive as they can stall out at any time endangering lives! something must be done.

I was completely stopped a busy intersection waiting to make a left turn. with no warning the car jerked forward. the force of the jerking motion was so great that i initially thought i was rear ended. the car started sputtering like it was going to shut off, i had cars in front and back of me and had no where to go. i shifted the car into park to try and give it some gas to keep it from shutting off and it immediately shut down. i tried starting the car again and it immediately shut down as soon as i tried to shift into drive. i did this multiple times and the car kept shutting down. i was finally able to keep my foot on the brake and the gas at the same time and keep the car running. i made it to work thankfully i was only two blocks away and had to have the car towed back home. i was shaking and scared to death. i could have been killed!! i later found out the cvt transmission failed and will cost aprox $4000! this car is only 4 years old. after doing some research and reading all of the complaints about this car and the transmission.. i am shocked that nissan is still allowed to continue with this "death trap" of a car! someone is going to get hurt in this car!!

In august of 2017 my 2014 nissan altima's torque converter fragmented pieces of itself into my transmission fluid. this resulted in my car tugging and shuddering while driving under speeds of 30 mph including slowing down and accelerating. at a point my vehicle turned off while in drive and i took my vehicle back to the selma nissan dealership. after a week of no finding of the issue it was brought to fresno lithia with the same result of no finding of the issue. a year later the vehicle produced the same problems and again the vehicle shut off while in drive and i immediately took the vehicle back to the fresno lithia dealership for a full inspection again. upon further identification they noted that this has become a common problem with 2013 & 2014 nissan altimas as the torque converter will become stuck and while shifting and force the vehicle to stall and shut off. this is a common problem and yet i had to pay for a new transmission for my vehicle. i've called nissan corporate at (615) 725-7154 and they informed me they do not conduct recalls. i see that if this transmission problem is so common why is it not on a recall and i should not have to pay for this fix on my 4 year old car. i'm a marine veteran with a 2 month old baby and $3500 for a transmission is not cheap for me in my position. i do have documentation from 3 dealerships noting i brough in my vehicle with the occurring problem dating back a year ago. i also have printed documentation of my new transmission for my vehicle and positive test result of my vehicle performing 4 out of 10 times of vehicle shuddering and turning off. this problem seems to be swept under the rug by nissan as they might fear a recall of their vehicles.

Last week (july 19, 2018) my family was on a trip back from nyc to ithaca. when we arrived in the ithaca area and stopped the car at a red light, the engine shut off. we were able to push the engine button again to restart the car. so, i thought it was not a big deal. two days later, the engine turned off at a red light on the road and it did not move. cars behind me kept honking and my daughter cried in horror. the engine was ignited when i push the engine button and the shift is in park. but as soon as i put it in drive, the engine shut off again. then i had to put it in park, pushed the engine button, it was turned on. when i put it back to drive, the engine shut off. i did not know what to do. after several attempts for a few minutes, i was able to keep the engine alive in drive and drove the car, and parked the car in front of the dealership. i barely managed to do that. the dealership says i need a new transmission. i realized that i am not the only one.

After driving car for 173000 miles with no trouble transmission failed to shift it,s like completefailurewith absolutely no movement now

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. when the vehicle was shifted from park into any other gear, the vehicle inadvertently rolled backwards or forwards. in addition, the vehicle would shutter or hesitate. the contact called sparks nissan kia (1100 auto mall dr, monroe, la 71203 (318) 322-1800), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 13,020.

I was nearly killed when my 2014 nissan altima with 114k miles abruptly lost ability to accelerate while i was on the highway during morning rush hour commute. after being towed and inspected at the dealership, i was hit with the news that i needed a new cvt!! this is a huge danger as it happens without warning and this technology needs to be pulled before someone gets killed. i almost was!!

I put the car in drive. the transmission grinded and the motor stalled. i was stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake and the motor continued to stall. the transmission clunks and sputters. it only has 58,000 miles. these cars should be recalled requiring nissan to replace the transmissions.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate as the accelerator pedal was depressed. in addition, the check engine and abs warning indicators illuminated. the engine was turned off and the vehicle was restarted, but the vehicle failed to accelerate at a high rate of speed. the vehicle was driven slowly to the contact's residence. the dealer (universal nissan, 12785 s orange blossom trail, orlando, florida 32837) was called and made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 31323934. the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Shortly after the first year the car began hesitating and eventually went on to completely cut off while my family and i were traveling. the transmission was replaced under warranty. i didn't have that particular problem for another year after the new transmission. the dealerships would always say they could not supplicate my concern. the problem persisting. i'm afraid to pull out in traffic because it stalls, jerks or hesitates. i won't allow my children to drive it because it is just too dangerous. both my husband and i have paid taken it for diagnosis the past 6 months. i'm taking it yet again tomorrow. i cannot figure out the pattern. it seems to be worse once pausing after a long drive > 50 miles. while traveling this weekend, i paused at the highway off-ramp and it wouldn't accelerate beyond 15 mph. the check engine light came on this time. i pulled over and cut the car off. it did finally go but the rmps still idled highly. there are some days the problem isn't prevalent and the drive seems smooth. that's what makes it so dangerous. i have to wait until there's no traffic before attempting to turn or pull into traffic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer (wood motor company, 600 us-62, harrison, ar 72601) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

When in traffic coming to a stop the engine will die. it will restart ok but usually dies as soon as placed in reverse or drive. dealer says the cvt transmission is defective and is not covered by warranty.

The transmission was replaced at around 25,000 miles which they told us twice before finally replacing that nothing was wrong with it. the car would roll while in park and stall after transmission was replaced no issues until now. around 68,000 miles the car now has a slight hesitation and will stall. took it to the shop and a code of p0776 was thrown. service in fine light never came on and still isn't on. talked to a few shops and they all told me this is the third most looked up code for nissan. nissan warranty is only 1 year and 12,000 miles on their transmission. that makes no sense to me either with such a short month and mileage as well. now we are having to possibly buy another transmission for a car with only 68,000 miles with a pretty much new transmission. how does a transmission go out with only 43,000 miles on it. with the issues now this happened while the car was being driven. to sum it up the gas pedal had to be pushed to the floor to get to 70 miles an hour while on the ga400.

My 2014 nissan altima has 68,000 miles. while driving on the highway about 60 mph, my car would not accelerate when pushing the gas. this was very unsafe. luckily i was able to pull over. after several minutes i was able to accelerate again. i immediately took it to nissan. they told me the cvt transmission was bad and that i would have to pay almost $4,000 to replace it.

I started experiencing problems with my vehicle about a year ago. while driving the car seem to not change gears. i had to coast to the side of the street, turn the vehicle off and restart it which made the vehicle to what i call "reset". this did not happen again until months later. now my vehicle from time to time, while driving the vehicle seem as if it will not go when i accelerate from a stop in traffic. i thought it need transmission fluid. i discovered that it requies ctv transmission fluid and can only be done at a dealership which was not true. my local certified transmission repair center said they could perform a diagnostic for $99, which we did. we are now being told that the transmission need to be replaced and that this was a problem on most of the nissan altima's. replacement would cost about $4,800. why hasn't nissan recalled these vehicles after so many complaints?

My vehicle stopped on the highway in a busy evening traffic. for 10 minutes i was not able to do, but sit idle. after that car started but it was juddering and shaking every time i used to stop at red light or stop sign. the vibrations were very violent and scary. even, in neutral, car engine revs up to 2k-3k rpm without accelerating. nissan company and dealer are not helping and putting my life in danger as i could have got hit by another car/ trailer.

A few months back i took my 2014 nissan altima, 4-cylinder to the nissan dealership for a recall that was in connection with recall with the software of the transmission of some sort. i did not receive notice but was advised of this recall when i took my vehicle to nisaan to get services for an oil change. the recall was completed. since having the recall complete my vehicle has been having transmission issues. at times i am driving on the freeway and the car shudders and loses power. i have come close twice to an auto collision as i am shifting lanes my car completely loses power and drops speed without my control with he rpm dropping drastically but regaining within seconds. the car jerks and shudders. i have had another family test as well and has said that the car is unsafe and something is wrong. i researched and see a multitude of complaints identical to mine to this particular year and model. i am taking to the dealer to have diagnostic complete and have explained that my vehicle was fine prior to the software adjustment with the transmission. i have been told that they are not sure if this is the issues and possibly i will get stuck with paying whatever repairs. this is completely unfair to the consumer having to pay out of pocket for a transmission defect that thousands of nissan owners are having the issues and nothing seems to be done to remedy this unsafe vehicle. i would like investigation to be done on this and in the event that while i am driving this vehicle and this occurs causing an accident i will hold the manufacturer at fault for allowing this vehicle to go un-repaired for a faulty transmission that thousands of consumers are complaining about as being a "lemon of a car" and "unsafe." the date this issue last occurred with me driving my vehicle was around 8:30a.m. on january 5, 2018.

Under 50,000 miles, cvt problem requiring the transmission to be replaced

Recall to reprogram cvt done 10/4/17 at nissan. 12/6/17 vehicle began rapidly dropping speed while driving on highway without me applying brakes. very dangerous since there were no brake lights to alert other vehicles behind me to decrease speed. turned hazards on & made it to slow lane, then shoulder of the road. it wouldn't go back into drive for 15 mins. once i could it drive again, it continued to have decreased speed. at traffic light it wouldn't accelerate in drive & i had to wait awhile before it did. drove to mechanic for diagnosis & they said it should be taken to nissan. had to be drug onto a flatbed to be towed a very short distance since it would no longer shift into drive, reverse or neutral. service advisor at east charlotte nissan said it needed new transmission & gave a $4,200 quote. he said this was known issue with cvt transmission, many with less than 30,000 miles but those were still under manufacturer warranty. had new nissan factory remanufactured transmission installed (they said it had to be a cvt because vehicle won't take any other transmission) which also failed after just one week. they shipped & installed another one & it has been doing okay for 2 wks now. forums sight many drivers with similar symptoms & dangerous incidents while driving & say the 'new' cvts fail again which happened to me. nissan should be forced to recall this defective technology that's dangerous to driver safety. nissan should be responsible for cost of the recall as owners have no choice but to replace transmissions, a huge repair. it cost me $3,600 and i will retain my copies. they know they have a problem with the technology, not just in the altima. they don't have an alert on nhtsa website to warn consumers against buying their unsafe vehicles. this request is to prevent fatalities not that an accident occurred in my case.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced hesitation without warning. hamilton nissan (1929 dual hwy, hagerstown, md) diagnosed that the torque converter clutch seized and the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 84,000. *tt updated 9/18/18*jb

Transmission "internal failure" determined by nissan mechanic on 3 year old altima and nissan is using loophole to get out of taking responsibility for it. i'm over on miles so they won't pay for it. it's 3 years old! this car stalled on highway 30. i was totally freaked out. when i tried to go it rolled backwards and almost hit the car behind me. cars were flying by me honking and people yelling at me. this car is three years old! apparently there are many more like it out there and nissan is not taking responsibility for them! they want $4196 to replace it or a new car for more payment, sales tax and insurance. i'm racking up rental car costs and they want to charge me $89 for diagnostics when i already had it done and told them it needed a transmission! the nissan consumer complaint lady, the service guy, the mechanic and the sales guy at suntrup nissan all agreed that this trans mission should not have gone out at 3 years old. they have extended the warranty on some altima's but not on mine! suntrup nissan has my car now. it will not go at all. i asked for either they pay for the trans or put me in a new car at same payment even with higher insurance and sales tax. they won't do either and i have to pay the $89 diagnostics. terrible for a repeat customer. this is my 3rd nissan - 2 of which i bought from nissan suntrup!

The cvt transmission is stuttering between gears, has hesitation, vibrations, and does not shift properly. i took the vehicle to a nissan dealer on 11/15/2017 with 76k miles and they told me i needed to change the transmission fluid. i had them change the fluid and the transmission was worse. the problem got a little better, but never went away. it never generated a code for a specific problem, but the service advisor said there is a problem with the transmission thinking it is in overdrive and not reacting properly. it is now a year later and another 30k miles and the transmission is still stuttering with vibrations at every speed and even on cruise control.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving 50 mph, there was an abnormal noise under the hood. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission failed and drained the torque. the failure recurred. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000.

Cvt transmission failure , i took very good car the car through the dealership that i bought it new from. i followed all maintenance requirements. the car is 3 years old and the transmission just quit on me no warning just done. it will cost me 4500$ out of my pocket to fix. the dealership helped me file a complaint with nissan usa to help. the answer from nissan was we cant help you with your transmission but we can offer $1500 for a new nissan. this is unacceptable theses cvt transmissions are consistently failing on nissans. as the consumer we are getting financially killed by this. action is required against nissan they know there is a issue yet they are still allowed to sell and not stand behind a major part of their vehicles. please do something this is dangerous. i could have been at an intersection or in traffic.

Prior to taking my 2014 nissan altima to a nissan service center for a scheduled routine oil & filter change, my vehicle was running perfectly. the very next day after i had my routine oil & filter change on my vehicle, my vehicle started hesitating in first gear and immediately i took my vehicle back to the nissan service center the same day of the occurrence and i explained to the nissan service center representative that my vehicle started hesitating. (the day after i had a scheduled routine oil & filter change). when the nissan service center diagnosed my vehicle i was told my cvt transmission indicating a bad internal sensor within the transmission and i would need to pay $3,800 dollars to repair my cvt transmission. i explained to the nissan service center rep. my vehicle was just at the nissan service center yesterday for a routine oil & filter change and there was no warning lights or warning signs on my dashboard that would indicate a problem with my transmission. in addition to my vehicle hesitating in first gear it also appeared not to change gears while i was driving in motion on the highway. i told the nissan rep the amount of money wanted to repair my vehicle was to much money and the nissan rep stated my vehicle is pass the warranty limit because i have 78,000 mile and my limit is 60,000 miles to be covered under warranty. the service rep stated they can have a sales rep contact me to purchase a new car if i did not want to pay for the transmission repair. after refusing to have my vehicle repaired at that price i picked up my vehicle from the nissan service center and drove my vehicle home and it ran fine with no warning lights or any indication of any problems. the vehicle changed gears and drove perfectly. i just want to report this issue and to red flag this problem with my 2014 nissan altima. if someone's dealing with this issue please advise.

Transmission failure after only 72,000 miles. dealer estimate to repair was $3600.

Vehicle was at dealer for oil change, service advised that "recall" campaign pc4900 reprogram transmission control module was performed. after driving the car for 6 days and 447 miles, it died while sitting completely still, idling in traffic (in "drive"). the vehicle shuddered so violently when it died, i thought that i had been rear-ended. the vehicle would restart but died immediately upon any attempt to shift into reverse or drive. had it towed back to the dealer, diagnosis was torque converter failure. total transmission replacement. never had any mechanical issues with this car until now.

Transmission failed while driving from tampa, fl to chicago, il. car died in normal, il. had it towed to the local dealership, had to get a rental car, was told that the transmission had metal fragments in it and that it would be a week to get a new one and cost $4,500.

2014 nissan altima s. i was driving on the freeway car just stopped running almost got hit by 2 cars transmission stopped working with no warnings of any kind lots of complaint s on this transmission on the internet. very dangerous. we dont have money to pay for it. only 3 years ols car. 60 thousand miles

Cvt shuddering and jerking 15-35 miles still after reprograming at 52k miles airbag light is stayes on after being reprogram

My car shut off abruptly when i was driving in the highway and i almost got hit by another car. luckily, it was rush hour and we were only going about 30mph. i put the car back in park and restarted. once restarted, i got off the highway and was at a busy intersection and i was the first car at the red light. my car shut off in the middle of the intersection during rush hour. it was very dangerous. i had car towed to dealer and it's a complete cvt transmission failure. still waiting to see if nissan will cover the replacement. the car has 37k miles and is still under the $60k power train warranty.

In august of 2017 i was about to park my altima when the transmission went out. i attempted to restart the car and the car would not shift into gear. eventually, after many issues with a nissan security plus warranty bait and switch issue i got the cvt transmission replaced. i have noticed even on this new transmission it still shudders around 25 mph frequently.

Transmission is slipping after 52k miles

While driving on interstate 75 the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate.. in heavy traffic,i was able to pull to the side of the road, after sitting for about 15 minutes i decided to try again and it started up and i was able to drive off the exit had it check and was told they was not able to identify a problem.. told nissan said at 30,000 miles was not under warranty. this has happened sever time without warning

I have a 2014 nissan altima that is nearing the end of the powertrain warranty; i took my car in last week for vehicle recalls and explained to them the problems that i have been experiencing with what i believe to be the cvt transmission. i explained how the car will shudder between 10-25 mph spontaneously and that there was no surefire way to know what was causing it or when it would happen; i explained that there have been a handful of occasions where i am at a stop and press on the gas pedal to drive and the car barely moves which has almost caused an accident on at least two separate occasions - another incident that happens spontaneously; and lastly, i explained how the rpm's will rev and the transmission would stick. the first day that nissan had my car, they said it acted up, but they couldn't get it to do it again and no codes came back to reveal the problem. after day 2, they said there was nothing more they could do regarding the issues i complained about. when i went to pick up my car, the service manager jeff thibodeaux said he believes it is my transmission and wanted to replace it,but he couldn't because there is no code coming back to show the problem and they couldn't get the car to act up again. i explained my concerns about driving this car, the safety of my children and how the warranty was about to expire in less than 500 miles; he said they have it documented in the system and if something happens after the warranty expires, they would "go to bat" for me. i went a step further and filed a complaint with the consumer affairs department at nissan (last friday). today, i received a call from amanda, the case manager for our region (case number 27815853). she wasn't helpful; indicated that unless the part fails, there is nothing that they can or will do. she terminated the call when i told her i was recording her.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while attempting to accelerate after making a turn, the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle was taken to coggin nissan on atlantic in jacksonville (10600 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, fl 32225, tel: 904-302-8231) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed there was a tsb/manufacturer communication number: ntb15-086d (power train) for the reprogramming of the tcm. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 27315253. the vehicle was not repaired a second time. the approximate failure mileage was 66,801.

Transmission failed after the car had 55000 miles. the problem commenced with a noticeable shudder and jerk when accelerating and braking. the car eventually stopped accelerating all together. transmission had to be replaced. this seems to be a common occurrence with this altima model. please investigate. see link: https://www.cars.com/articles/2013-2016-nissan-altima-rogue-transmission-issue-1420683183828/

On three separate occasions, the car has lost excelleration power. after coming to a stop, it would not pick up speed while holding the gas pedal to the floor. after a few seconds it picked up speed. making a sound, like the transmission is out of gear. each time it has done this, i have pulled over turned the car off for a few minutes. after restarting it seems to drive fine, until it happens again. happens while driving on city streets.

My car shut down multiple times while driving it to work. i had to get it towed to nissan and find a way to work. nissan said they reprogrammed the cvt transmission and didnt bother to tell me there was a recall. when i got it back it was worse than when i took it in the first time. it is unprofessional and dangerous for them not to tell me about the recall.

Purchased 2014 nissan altima sl 11/5/2016 69,500 miles from nissan dealer bourne ma. car in for d/s front headlamp assembly replacement and transmission revving rpm complaint issue on 11/10/2016 while still under 60-day/2500mi warranty. picked up venicle and told by nissan service dept that "couldnt find anything wrong and that is just how the cvt works". additionally, there is a reprogramming service bulletin issued by nissan on dec 6 2016 regarding cvt transmission. i was never notified. on may 12, 2017 77,800 transmission fails completely while in motion on a rural state road at 40mph, same symptoms as 11/10/2016 complaint with no cel or warning lights on interior dash 165 miles from home. call dealer and ask them what they plan to do and told "that is on your dime since you did not purchase extended warranty." call closest nissan dealer service dept and told they cannot even diagnose the problem for 10 business days so car is towed to garage of contractor assigned by nissan security plus protection plan j&j auto. j&j auto diagnoses vehicle as having total valve body failure using computer codes from vehicle and reaffirming diagnosis with nissan. i authorize a new nissan transmission to be ordered for vehicle. contact nissan customer service and told they will not reimburse me for costs of transmission replacement and "you need to just leave the car at a nissan service dept and we will look into it." refuse to intervene with selling dealership or make a referral and appointment at a dealer service location to have car repaired in a timely fashion. this is monday may 14. transmission is removed and replaced at j&j auto. pick car up on may 26, 2016 following reprogramming and flashing of new transmission at nissan dealer in keene, nh.

Vehicle is a 2014 nissan altima 4 cylinder motor. it recently had the transmission recall, disguised as a "campaign" performed. it was a software update. since then, the car upshifts while decelerating, causing the engine to stumble & almost stall. it is similar to the torque converter locking up & affecting the drivetrain. if the engine stalled, driver would lose control of the vehicle & might crash the car. the car is in motion when it happens on a road where speeds are about 50 mph, which is about the speed we were driving when it happened. it has happened while driving straight or in mild turns.

My cvt transmission is having major issues at this time. my vehicle is at 84,000 miles. i was driving home through traffic, once i tried to accelerate the vehicle wouldn't go, then all of a sudden it took off fast. after continuing to drive it started revving very loud until i stopped and cut it off.

My car has transmission problem where it judders, shakes, vibrates, and at times cuts off. after some research i found this is a known problem with multiple voluntary service campaigns. nissan has refused to honor the free service campaigns and just wants me to pay $4000 for a new transmission. this new of a car should not have these issues. this happens while driving which is dangerous, it has turned off while on the interstate

2014 nissan altima s, 74,000 miles. i shifted the car from park to reverse to back out of parking space, the car shuddered and died. i am very fortunate that i wasn't hit by oncoming traffic as the car would not move. i had my daughter steer the car while i pushed it out of the way of traffic. i tried several more times to put the car in gear, it would run for a few seconds and die. there were no previous performance problems and no engine warning lights to indicate a problem. i had the car towed to a nissan dealer. it was diagnosed with "torque converter failure/ need to replace cvt unit/ found no dtc's stored/found not tranny leaks/ printed off tranny "a" and "b" counts just in case" i have read other reports of these altima's completely failing in rush hour traffic because of nissan's defective transmission. my family was lucky. the situation could have ended very badly if this defective car had died in traffic, causing me or an innocent serious harm. now, my family is facing an almost $5000 dollar repair on a three year old car that i don't trust anymore.

Nissan has a recall on the cvt on the 2014 nissan altima, they extended the warranty for some, but not all. i've experienced my vehicle shutting off while driving and very strong jerking, which is very dangerous. i took the vehicle to tischer nissan in laurel and the jerking and shutting stopped after they reset the cvt per the recall. however, it has started again and they're now stating i am responsible for the charges. they know there is an issue with this part, yet they won't be accountable. it is dangerous and very expensive and it should be their responsibility. this is my second complaint and nothing has been done.
