The car will not start using push to start with the brake pedal depressed. the car is an automatic and the problem is due to a faulty stop light switch. the safety concern is that the brake lights are not functioning correctly and is a safety concern. this seems to be a common problem and the car is less than 2 years old.
I was driving the car and it started stuttering and it cut right off in the middle of driving .i then restarted my car and it did the same thing. the battery light came right on and engine light as well. i parked it as best as i could , and i tried starting it a 3rd time it started and i put it in reverse and it cut right off.
Leaving from work i got into my vehicle and noticed a yellow key indicator light. i proceeded to step on my brake to start my engine and my car did not start. once doing research about the problem i began to see that this was a common occurrence with owners of the 2009 nissan altima. i then learned that my car wouldn't start due a faulty steering column locking the steering wheel. this stopped me from putting my car in the on position or controlling my gear shift. i am thankful that i was in a safe parking lot because this problem could've caused a huge inconvenience or put me in danger. nissan refuses to recall this part and continues to put many nissan owners in this unsafe situation.

My 2013 nissan altima sl vin: [xxx] is not allowing me to shift when pushing the brake pedal. i have to use a pencil/etc in the shift lock release bypass area everytime. searching the web and it seems that many cars are hobbled by a thin piece of metal on a cheap $3 micro switch in the shifter. bending the small metal tab on the micro switch apparently can fix the issue so it makes contact again. dealers want $700 to replace the entire shifter assembly which is outrageous. youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu7vm2y-7ly and part fix at 8 minute mark. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2020 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving in reverse the automatic electronic braking activated although no objects were present behind the vehicle. additionally, while switching to the reverse the message indicating an object was behind the vehicle was displayed. while driving the vehicle hesitated and vibrated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. the blind spot monitoring system also experienced intermittent failures. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (metro nissan of montclair (9440 aotpex st. montclair, ca) who indicated the crash avoidance system needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 3,000. the vin was not available.
Second issue with my 2018 nissan altima. was in the shop in october for the front collision sensor malfunctioning. sensor was detecting obstructions when nothing was there. local dealership replaced the sensor in october. less than one month out of the shop (this week), the sensor malfunctioned again. stated feb: unavailable front radar obstruction and was steadily blinking again.again, nothing in front of the vehicle that would have triggered the sensor. contacted nissan customer service and was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealership again for repair. dropped vehicle to local dealership and was told they would look at the sensor and change out the bracket the sensor sits in to see if that corrects the issue. very frustrated with this issue. .
Head light low beams are extremely dim. even, i cannot see 2 meters in front of the car at nights. and this problem is not related with the light bulbs. it is related with the headlight projector housing (confirmed from different auto shops and internet complaints) that is losing its effectiveness by the time. also, repairing this problem is very costly. basically, both headlight assemblies have to be changed. we, as altima owners, are waiting for the recall action specifically for this problem from the nissan company. unfortunately, it is very common safety problem among 2013 -2015 altimas.
This car has all kinds of hidden camera microphone and evils activate.
Factory lighting is dim, cannot see at night. the projection is not strong enough for nyc night time. i need to use high beams and those arent even that good. it is not the light bulb
