A couple months ago i heard a click while driving my car and after hearing that click i noticed that my drivers car seat titled a little. yesterday after loading my car i heard another click and now both front welds attaching my drivers seat to the floor board have broken off leaving my drivers car seat completely unattached at the front. my car is now extremely unsafe and basically a rocking chair. after calling both the dealership i purchased my car from and the mazda dealership they both turned me away telling me it wasn't something that they would look at. this is an extreme danger and after doing my research on the internet it seems to be a very common problem with these cars. this needs to be recalled.
I was sitting down in the car (driver's seat) and adjusted my position slightly and heard a loud pop and the seatback moved backwards away from the steering wheel. the seat itself had noticeable freedom to move up and down at the left corner. upon examination, the bracket that is welded to the support brace on the forward left side of the seat had failed at the weld locations (2). this bracket is pinned to the rail and keeps the seat bottom attached to the track. mazda must recal these seats. they do have a fix to repair without seat replacement. mazda is aware of the problem. but is charging for the fix. recall time.
Driver side seat separated from front seat slide adjuster. driver seat "rocked" back and now the car is extremely dangerous to operate. the entire seat flips backwards upon acceleration.
Upon accelerating from a full stop, the left-front mounting bracket of the driver's seat broke at the weld point. this resulted in instability and significant rocking in the driver's seat when accelerating, braking, and turning. the seat instability could significantly impact the safety of the driver during an accident, rendering safety mechanisms such as the seat belt and airbags ineffective. as the mount broke under normal seat usage and driving conditions with no previous vehicle accidents, i am doubtful whether the mounting bracket is sufficient to withstand the impact of a crash.
The drivers seat made a popping sound and now rocks back and forth like a rocking chair. i looked underneath the seat and discovered that a weld on the left side of the seat is broken. i went on line and discovered dozens of complaints about this weld breaking. it even appears as a problem on a car review site. this is a safety issue, and either a design flaw or poor workmanship. mazda should be made to fix it.
While preparing to drive my 2010 mazda 3, i got in to adjust the drivers seat. as i was adjusting i heard a loud pop from the front left side of the drivers seat. i got out of the car and realized the seat had a lot of play in it. i took the seat out to find out what the problem was, i noticed that the weld point that secured the seat to the cross bar under the seat, sheared off cleanly, pointing to a bad weld. this is definitely a safety hazard and i would like to be able to prevent any future accidents or worse. based on the weld points on the passenger seat and the right side of the drivers seat, i can't imagine that this part would have ever failed, but it has and on numerous mazda 3 models. there are at least 25 complaints on this site alone. can someone do something about this? $700 to fix is outrageous and that "estimate" was from 3 different locations.
Drivers seat broke from frame rails. first the plastic push pin scews that attaches power seat to height adjustment rails snapped, collapsing one side of drivers seat. then the frame rail on that side snapped into pieces. when traffic light turned green, i started forward and seat collapsed on my left side, then i heard a pop and seat flipped back, almost causing me to crash. when i took car to mazda service, the techs showed me dozens of mazda cars in service bays with the same problem. i was told this goes back to 2002. mazda japan states: we acknowledge the problem, but mazda seats are not made for large american bodies, but for the average smaller, lighter and delicate japanese person. in feb,2017, mazda issued a recall on some cars for the seat frame collapsing, but my car and most other mazda cars are not included in this recall. please check out any mazda service dept. and ask for records of snapped front seat frames and seat frame screws popping out , collapsing the seats. please require mazda weld in new frame rails and install correct number of seat attachment screws, and or replace seats assemblies with ones that don't break from normal usage. without a recall mazda charges over $1100 to replace power seat frame, with no guarantee the replacement frame wont break when you seat in car the first time because that's how mazda builds the seat frames! that's tragic.
I was sitting down in the car (driver's seat) and adjusted my position slightly and heard a loud pop and the seatback moved backwards away from the steering wheel. the seat itself had noticeable freedom to move up and down at the left corner. upon examination, the bracket that is welded to the support brace on the forward left side of the seat had failed at the weld locations (2). this bracket is pinned to the rail and keeps the seat bottom attached to the track. this is definitely a safety hazard and i wonder what unnecessary injuries i or my wife may have suffered had this part failed during an accident. i can't imagine that this part would ever be expected to fail. *tr
Sat down, heard a loud pop and seat move violently resulting in me falling away from steering wheel. upon inspection, left side weld on front rail snapped in half. *tr
While driving, my front driver seat broke loose from the left rail. after inspecting the seat, i noticed it broke off the part that is welded to the rail. this could have easily caused an accident. i've already seen multiple other related incidents reported. i'm going to the mazda dealer tomorrow and see wheat they will do. ps. i'm 180 pounds, so it seems this seat was poorly welded. *js
Have a 2010 mazda3 2.5s 5 door and the driver seat rocks and jolts. have found forums and threads about it, all related issues to welding. tried taking it to dealer to ask their opinion and not helpful. showed him the issue and he did indeed realize it was rocking too much and probably not safe. informed that it was not under warranty and to replace the seat it would be $700+. i feel that there are enough cases and questions out there regarding the driver seats becoming loose that mazda should replace or fix the weld issues at their expense. please look closer into this issue because i fear that it will eventually fail completely and cause serious injury. *js
Driver's side seat is becoming loose and "clunking" upon cornering and acceleration. a post to a mazda group, as well as google searches results in hundreds of complains of the seat tracks breaking and this being a "common fix". this should be a huge safety concern that could cause an accident, or cause further injury in the case of an accident. *tr
Sat in drivers seat heard and felt a snap under drivers seat. broken weld on seat brace. *tr
Driver seat broke while driving, very loose after. upon inspection found that a metal bracket on left rail broke (split in half). *tr
I was driving down the road and heard/felt a clunk and the driver seat tilted back a few inches and became unstable. the seat now moves freely up and down and is not currently safe to drive. this was a result of weld on the seat bracket breaking and the seat losing its support. i looked online and found over 100 complaints for the same issue. *tr
I opened my car and sat down in the drivers seat as per usual only to find that the left side of my seat felt loose. as i leaned forward and backwards i could feel the seat moving with me. i got out and looked under my seat to see what may be loose. what i found was that the part of the seat assembly that attaches to the rail system had come out. i looks like a small metal bolt that goes through a metal rail and is either bolted down on the opposite side or welded together. *tr
The driver seat began to wobble back and forth while driving the car. the problem is due to a sheet metal piece (approximately 1/8 inch thick) that holds the seat bottom to the seat slide adjustment. the spring retainer had popped off the locating pin allowing the sheet metal to bend and the pin to come out of its retaining hole. i attempted to replace the spring retainer, but the sheet metal snapped due to work hardening. the failure mechanism appears to occur because the sheet metal is stamped during manufacture and a hole approximately 1/2 the width of the sheet metal is punched through the sheet metal drastically reducing its strength. i purchased a new slide mechanism because mazda does not have a recall or special service program for this failure. however, when i examined the new slide mechanism, i discovered that mazda has significantly redesigned this part to prevent the type of failure that i experienced. the new piece does not have the punched hole, but instead has a reinforced boss as well as significant amounts of welding to ensure the piece cannot bend or break. my guess is that the new design is at least 100 times more durable than the original design. obviously, mazda considered the old design to be substandard. i believe that this should be the subject of a recall to verify that the seat retention has not failed. this is a safety issue because the failure results in only 3 points of retention for the seat and the driver can possibly lose control due to improper restraint in the seat. i can supply pictures of the new design and defective design if you need them. there are two such pieces per seat so the possibility exists for both to fail in sequence creating a more serious safety issue. *tr
The bracket which holds the drivers seat to the frame is broken. seat rocks back and forth during driving. this is a very dangerous flaw in manufacturing and if i'm in an accident my seat will end up in the back seat making my seat belt useless. i see many complaints about this defect. please make this a recall for mazda. a very expensive fix otherwise. *tr
While driving herd a popping under the drivers seat, the seat then started rocking back in forth. seat is unsafe to drive. noticed several other complaints about the exact same thing obviously there is a problem with the weld points on this model. my 3rd mazda never had any problems with my 1st 2 but the 2010 mazda 3 quality does not hold up to the previous years. *tr
Driver seat is loose and rocks. a piece of metal detached and it looks like very cheap metal and poor welding. *tr
The front driver's seat should be fastened to the slide adjuster with four push nuts (two per side), but earlier vin numbers are missing push nuts either from wear or because mazda did not include them in the original design. because the push nuts are missing, the seat freely rocks back and forth. the rocking can be so extreme that the entire seat rotates backwards onto the rear bench. this is extremely unsafe for at least two reasons: 1) if the airbag were to deploy in an accident, the force would knock the driver and seat backward rather than absorb the impact of the driver's body; and 2) if the seat suddenly rocked backward while driving, the driver could lose control of the vehicle. mazda describes the issue in tsb 09-049/10, but purports that the issue merely produces a "rattle noise." but the seat doesn't just rattle, it also hinges all the way into the back seat as described above. *tr
One of the arms that attach on the drivers seat broke in half while driving. which now causes a rocking motion in the seat
Entered the vehicle to go to work. sat down in the driver's seat, immediately heard a pop and the seat became unsteady (wobbly). after work i looked at the bottom of the seat and saw that a weld broke loose from a bar that stabilizes the seat. it is very disconcerting to the driver while operating the vehicle and may contribute to the possibility of future crashes. the safety of the seat during a crash scenario is compromised. *tr
Driver seat is loose and moves during braking or turning a corner. this can make it hard to control the vehicle. if this would break loose during a crash how would this effect air bag operation. *tr
Noticed movement/loose drivers seat, took to dealer, said basic warranty had expired, but mileage low so mazda may cover. mazda covering part, but not labor. the seat is loose, bracket is cracked that holds seat. is this a safety issue that should be covered under the safety warranty? *tr
Drivers seat feel loose and wiggles. unknown how it would hold up during a crash. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda mazda3. the contact stated that the driver's seat frame became separated from the base. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the seat bracket had fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current the vehicle was 86,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3i. the contact stated that the driver's side seat would independently move back and forth when the contact was driving at any speed. the contact stated that the seat became separated from the base due to defective welding. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 81,160.
Driver side seat appeared to have bad welding on the slider and it snapped. mazda has denied fixing the faulty seat, citing the warranty being expired. *tr
While accelerating from a stop sign i hit a small pot hole and suddenly my seat flew back. the seat broke completely free from the mounting brackets at the two from mounting points. upon inspection the welds on the mounting bracket snapped clean off. due to the sudden reclining motion my neck was extremely sore from the sudden and abrupt rearward reclining motion this caused. if this were to happen on the highway to a person who is shorter then myself, loss of the control of the vehicle is very possible. once i was able to reach my destination i notified mazda who claims they have never heard of such a problem. upon further searching the internet i found many other mazda 3 owners are having the very same issues. i purchased the car brand new in july of 2009 and it has been maintained. i have not had any other issues with the vehicle. *tr
The vehicle involved is a 2010 mazda mazda3. i sat in the front drivers seat and felt the drivers seat shift backwards. from that point on the seat was unsteady and rocked forward and backward depending on which i was doing, accelerating or breaking. upon examination, it was found that the weld on the seat bracket had broken. in my opinion, this is a very unusual break and could be very hazardous if it happens upon braking. this issue happened on 03/15/13. *tr
While driving my mazda3, came to a stop, upon accelerating my seat began to rock slightly, about a week or so later, came to a stop and upon accelerating my whole seat rocked backwards, to the point i could no longer reach the pedals. took the car into the dealership and was told the welds that attach the seat to the seat track had broken. the seat is no longer stable and safe to drive. several calls into mazda, but getting no where because the car is out of warranty. obviously the welds connecting the seat to the seat track, and the subsequent breaking of those welds is a manufacturing defect that causes huge safety risks for all drivers of mazda3s. it is unknown where/when the welds will break. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda3. the contact stated that the driver's seat frame separated from the base. the contact's independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and found a defective welding, which caused the base to separate from the seat. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current the vehicle was 100,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda mazda3. the contact stated that the driver's side plastic height adjuster for the seat broke, causing the seat to move whenever the contact completed a turn. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the height adjuster needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 47,000.
As i was driving i felt an unease movement of the driver's seat. suddenly it started a kind of a "rocking chair" movement. then it felt like something snapped and broke. i move my self forward to keep control of the car and stopped. as soon as i raised my body from the seat i completetly fell backwards. as i looked under the seat there was a piece of metal covered with a clean type of grease or lubricant of about 4" long laying under my seat.
From the start my drivers seat was loose. i have taken it to the dealer and each time the problem was not solved, the replaced the track assembly, tightened things up and after a few hundred miles the problem returned. *tt on the day of my accident, i was stopped at light and was the car behind me. a different car smashed through the car behind me causing that vehicle to hit me from behind and forcing me into the car in front of me. no air bags deployed and no one was hurt. after the incident, i got back into my car and the seat rocked as if it was a rocking chair. driving the car home, the seat rocked to every bump in the road. i have reason to believe if i was impacted with higher force the seat would have came loose from the base.
While coming off a turn at 35 mph and braking slightly, there was pop noise and the drivers side seat began to rock back and forth. once i had an opportunity to check the seat it had appeared that the welding of the seat had snapped and there was a piece of metal that was once part of the track that had snapped clean off. there was not an accident or hard braking. however, this seems to be a defect in the workmanship of the track that the seat sits on or how it is attached. *tr
Power driver seat frame cracked. the plastic push pin screw holding seat frame to frame snapped off. the seat is ready to break off from chassis mount. this is a common problem with all mazda's sub-standard seat frame mounts. recall issued for manual seat frame, but not for the powered seat frame.
Drivers side seat broke at welded attachment point to adjuster rail
I was driving along and felt the drivers seat shift backwards. from that point on the seat was unsteady and moved forward and backward depending on which i was doing, accelerating or breaking. upon examination, it was found that the weld on the seat bracket had broken. in my opinion, this is a very unusual break and could be very hazardous if it happens upon braking. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda mazda3. the contact heard a squeaking noise coming from the seat when he would sit. the dealer informed the contact that the weld was fractured on the seat pan. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the contact was awaiting repairs to the vehicle. the current and the failure mileage was 19,000. the vin was unavailable.
Power driver seat rocks forward and backward during acceleration and sudden braking. approx. 1/2" play. the movement is very noticeable and disconcerting. i fear that i may lose control of the vehicle. dealer insists condition is normal. *tr
I own a 2010 mazda3. a few weeks ago while driving my front seat made a popping sound and began rocking back and forth causing me to lose control of the car momentarily. i took it into the mazda dealership in alexandria virginia (browns mazda on route 1) and asked them to look at it. they determined that welding on my seat bottom had come undone and needed to be replaced. my car's warranty is for 3 years/36 thousand miles and at the time of the incident my car had 45 thousand miles. mazda declined to fix the seat and stated that i am responsible for the repairs. my contention is that the drivers seat is a safety issue and if involved in a collision the seat may dislodge and cause me more bodily injury than if the seat were properly anchored. i have contacted mazda's customer care line and also e-mailed them and on both occasions they have immediately dismissed my claim stating that my vehicle is out of warranty and the repairs are my responsibility. the drivers seat of a vehicle is an integral part of the safety in the car and due to a manufacturer error my seat is now loose and unsafe to drive. *tr
The front driver's seat support bracket has broken at the weld and it results in the front seat not being stable. it rocks back and forth with acceleration and braking. the entire seat is not stable. *tr
Driver seat feels loose and rocks back and forth while i am driving vehicle. i am concerned seat will not hold up in accident. sat in similar car at dealer with same problem. *tr
