The dashboard on the drivers side melted into the consistency of liquid tar.it is sticky and very shinning causing blinding glare. i took it to the lodi mazda dealer and they told me there was an extended warranty that expired 1 month ago and they could not repair this for free. i called the cooperate office who said they are no longer responsible for the repairs even though they are aware the dashboard was not heat resistant. how ironic that this happened to my car 1 month after the warranty was up. the dealer said it would cost me 1200 dollars to repair.since this was there fault for installing a not heat resistant dash they should replace it at anytime for free. it is very difficult to see out of the front window with the glare the melted dash causes.

My mazda 3 2010 has about 3 recalls. i have been contacting the local dealership to do the recalls since last year, but due to my schedule, i cannot make it during the weekdays. now this month, when i looked at the recall letters, i found out i should do the recalls very soon, but i had hard time to get day off during the weekdays, so i was asking the dealership to schedule me for weekends. but they refused. i know this is a free service, but how can they only give us schedule for weekdays and refuse to do the work for weekends. this is about safety. i don't drive this car often, but i still want this to be done. i think it is wrong that the dealership refuse recalls service. i don't think they will refuse the service that pay them money. very bad experience! i think the government should monitor this. because they refusing the weekends service, a lot people may hold off their recalls just like me, which may cause problem for the road safety. the name of the dealership is: martin mazda address: 289 e cleveland ave, newark, de 19711 phone:(302) 738-5200

Defective dashboard that cannot withstand exposure to sunlight, resulting in the dashboard melting, emitting a noxious smell and taking on a reflective quality. when the dashboard becomes reflective, drivers trying to see through the windshield have to struggle to see past the image of the dashboard in the windshield. mazda failed to notify consumers timely re: the defect. when class action lawsuits were filed, mazda was forced to take action. they offered a limited extended warranty to fix the "cosmetic issue" that resulted. however, bright light reflecting off the melted dashboard is temporarily blinding, causing a harsh glare on the windshield and obscuring vision, putting the driver and others at risk. in addition, mazda is failing to take any action on vehicles outside of the warranty date, stating that it is the consumer's responsibility to obtain service within a timely manner. upon contact of mazda corporate office, there is no record of me even owning the vehicle and my vin number is still listed until the original owner of the vehicle from 7 years ago. i have never received a single notification of a recall or warranty extension since taking ownership of this vehicle in 2012. official start date of the dashboard melting is unknown, however has gotten progressively worse in the past few months. upon contact of the dealership to address issue, i was notified i was out of the warranty window and there was nothing they could do to assist. *tr

While driving home from work today, a loud noise sounding like a gunshot came from inside of my car and caught me of guarding causing me to swerve to the side of the road. as i regain control of the car, i saw pieces of unknown debris slide down the back of my rear window. luckily there was no other cars around me. i continued home since it was about another 2 mile down the road. after arriving home i inspected the car and noticed that the sunroof had exploded outward and had shattered everywhere. the pieces of debris i saw was in fact pieces of shattered glass. at first i though that something went through the glass but i could not find any evidence of an object such as a rock that penetrated the glass. also the glass was shattered outwards indicating that it exploded from the inside out. this happen on a clear sunny day with temps around 84 degree. i was driving about 35 to 40 mph along a straight stretch of rural road. at the time of the incident there were no cars within 200+ yards of mine.

Dashboard is melting and causes a glare on the windshield

Over time, the entire dashboard has begun to develop deep cracks. on the passenger side, these cracks are where the airbag is located. it is very concerning, as it is not clear whether the airbag would function properly in case of an accident due to this defect in the dashboard. these cracks have become worse over the past few months and consistently spread.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3. the contact stated that the dashboard was melted and there was a glare on the windshield while driving unknown speeds. the contact called a local dealer (mazda of knoxville located at 8814 kingston pike, knoxville tn 37923) and was informed that the remedy parts were on backorder. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was 102,000.

Got involved in a fender bender at 50 mph and air bags never went off. the body of the car also came apart so quickly i ended up totaling the entire vehicle.

Recall 16v-644 issued september 6 of 2016. now, 8 months later, there are still 'limited' parts available to implement the recall and i am unable to have the recall completed on my affected vehicle. i believe this indicates that mazda is not resolving the recall in a timely manner.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3. whenever the brake or accelerator pedals were depressed, the driver seat moved out of position and slid backwards into the rear driver side seat. the contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v082000 (seats) and 16v644000 (structure). the manufacturer advised the contact to call a dealer. the dealer scheduled an appointment and the manufacturer's notice indicated that a loaner vehicle would be provided; however, it was not available to the contact. the manufacturer was called again along with two additional dealers who were unable to provide reasonable accommodations. the contact was uncertain as to when the vehicle would be repaired. the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect. vin tool confirms parts not available.

I entered my car first thing in the morning (after a fairly cold night). the car was stationary overnight sitting in my driveway. i looked over to my left and on the dashboard of the passenger side, there was an crack about 6-7 inches long on top of where the airbag sits. in the light, it appears that the crack will spread to the left and grow substantially in length/width. i am very concerned that this could potentially become an inhibitor to making the passenger function properly.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3. while the vehicle was parked, the dashboard became sticky and melted into a smooth surface. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

I received a safety recall regarding lift gate dampers back in october 2016. i called to check on it and gunther mazda service dept did not have the part available. went for an unrelated problem in december to have it diagnosed and i figured since i was going to be without a car for a day or two, i might as well take care of the recall. they still did not have the part, they told me to call back in february. i am not sure how long after a recall is a manufaturer supposed to provide with a solution, but 4 months seems long. i have not have a problem with the gate, but i don't want to wait until i have it or ignore the recall either.

The driver's seat frame breaks resulting in the driver of the vehicle to rock backwards with the seat when the vehicle is in forward motion. the car becomes uncontrollable when the seat rocks back causing the driver to hold themselves upright trying to drive the vehicle. the seat exhibits characteristics that can only be called unsafe. this defect will ultimately result in a serious accident with injury or death. the vehicle was parked when this was first noticed. the defect with the seat frame also renders the seat belt useless and is safety hazard compounded by the seat frame breaking loose. this defect appears to happen only on the 2010 mazda 3 model and there are many additional complaints, both here and in public forums. mazda needs to recall for replacement of a seat frame that is built so as not to break in normal use. why this has not happened is negligent. my local mazda dealer gave me an estimate of $980.00 to repair the seat frame. the manager was not willing to negotiate the cost of the repair nor willing to discuss further.

I opened the drivers door, sat down and attempted to close the door. the door would not latch. i looked at the door latch and the three screws used to attach the latch were missing and the latch was hanging freely within the door. i was trying to find replacement screws online when i came across a recall on the mazda 6 which is appears to be the exact same issue. nhtsa campaign number: 13v425000

My dashboard just recently started melting. the dashboard has formed a shiny consistency which reflects on to the windshield and is hazardous.

The dash board has started to melt and become very sticky and shiny. the shiny reflection from the dashboard creates a glare on the windshield making it difficult to see when it is sunny outside.

A couple months ago i heard a click while driving my car and after hearing that click i noticed that my drivers car seat titled a little. yesterday after loading my car i heard another click and now both front welds attaching my drivers seat to the floor board have broken off leaving my drivers car seat completely unattached at the front. my car is now extremely unsafe and basically a rocking chair. after calling both the dealership i purchased my car from and the mazda dealership they both turned me away telling me it wasn't something that they would look at. this is an extreme danger and after doing my research on the internet it seems to be a very common problem with these cars. this needs to be recalled.

The dashboard of the vehicle, particularly the area above the steering wheel, appears to have melted. the surface of the dashboard is sticky and shiny like it is covered in tar. it cannot be wiped, and the shiny surface produces a severe glare right in the line of sight for the driver. no cleaners or chemicals have been used on the dash, only a dry cloth.

Dashboard is melting creating horrible glare in line of vision occluding oncoming cars. i have pictures of how terrible the glare of the dashboard reflection is creating while driving. i feel like this is a safety hazard and someone will fail to see an oncoming car or child crossing the street due to this defect. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3. while driving 65 mph, the rear passenger side tire exploded. the tire was replaced with a spare. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the mechanic stated that the tpms sensor was corroded and the nut was fractured. the tire was replaced and the sensor was replaced with regular valve stems. the contact also stated that the dashboard was melting, which caused a glare from the sun. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 83,000. updated 09/14/15*lj updated 11/01/2017*cn

My dashboard is melting. my car isn't even five years old and the dashboard has basically melted to a point where i have to replace it. there are issues all over about this on certain vehicles and as far as i understand mazda will not place a recall, but says i have to pay $1500 to fix it because the glare of the melting reflects off my windshield when i drive which causes a hazard.

I have a 2010 mazda3 i-sport model. after coming back from a two week vacation, i found my dashboard to become sticky and, while under direct sunlight, will emit a glare onto the windshield that greatly reduces visibility. it appears as if it is melting. the problem is most apparent close to the windshield, but has spread a great deal across the dashboard on the driver side. it cannot be cleaned. *tr

The dash has become a highly reflective mess. the dash seems to be melting as it is sticky to the touch and has developed a high shine which is highly reflective in the windshield. anything affecting the ability to see out the windshield has to be a safety issue. this seems to be a known issue of the manufacturer, dealers, and people filing class action law suits but no movement from nhtsa. *tr

The top of the dashboard is melting and continues to grow in size. it is turning into a tar-like substance that comes off to the touch and is quite sticky. the glare that it produces is becoming a safety concern. just today i almost rear-ended a vehicle that i could not see when it stopped. *tr

Dashboard on my mazda 3 2010 has become sticky and reflective causing sunlight to reflect off dash and could make driving hazardous. *tr

After 3 years of normal commuter use, the dashboard in front of the driver seat has become excessively shiny. it is the top hump of the dashboard closest to the windshield. the shine reflects a glare onto the windshield directly in the driver's field of vision. the glare is sometimes so bad that it hinders the ability to see other vehicles directly in front of the car. the shine is unable to be wiped clean and leaves a sticky black residue when touched. it appears that the dashboard upholstery material and/or adhesive is defective. *tr

There is a hairline crack in my 2010 mazda 3 dashboard. it is directly over the passenger side airbag and i feel this is a safety issue. i live in buffalo and the crack is worse in the winter. i spoke with mazda and said this would be expensive to repair, however, i have checked online and many other drivers of mazda's have had this issue. i would like to get this fixed, however, i am a graduate student and cannot afford this. i would like to make sure this is only cosmetic and not a safety concern. *tr

Vehicle with continued issue with melting dashboard. requires very frequent cleaning of the inside of the windshield due to the substance build-up from the daily heating in the florida climate. during the day the glare from the sun reflects back onto the windshield causing it to be very difficult to see. polarized sunglasses seems to minimize the issue. at night, certain lighting also highlights the problems especially when sunglasses are not appropriate. on december 8th just after sundown a vehicle began to make a left turn into my right of way at an intersection. the star bursting from the windshield made it impossible to see that they were turning in from of me leading to an impact. i believe that this dashboard issue played a very significant issue contributing to this crash. the fault was obviously the other driver but due to the circumstances i was unable to react quickly. *tr

The dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3 has began melting. the dashboard has become sticky and shiny. sometimes the shininess is so reflective that it makes it difficult for me to see when i am driving on a sunny day. there are chunks of the dash that come off like chewing gum. the dash gets on everything like sticky black tar. i can only imagine that there are dangerous toxins being released into the air to breathe while driving knowing that this synthetic material has now broken down and begun to deteriorate. the car is only four years old and well cared for. who is to blame for my loss of value from a poorly made product. *tr

My dashboard is melting with the consistency of peanut butter. i have brought the car to mazda and they will not stand behind their car. *tr

Mazda 3 2010 dash is melting. i have been noticing a glare over the last few months from the dash to the windshield that in sunny conditions was making it difficult to see through the glare. i thought it was potentially some adhesive leaking out of the seam of the dash. it was getting worse over time so this weekend i attempted to clean off the substance. i found that it was not a substance but the dash had become soft and sticky. it was not able to be cleaned off. i have used a sunshade since i owned the car (oct 2009). i have lived in south florida since 1985 and have owned multiple cars. i learned the hard way that you must shade your dash to prevent it from being damaged. however, over the last 30 years, no dash has melted and caused a dangerous glare that is a safety hazard. *tr

I left my car in the parking lot at work, and when i came back the dashboard had melted. i live in san antonio tx, and it wasn't a particularly hot day but it melted. i took it to the dealership, and they told me they could not fix it because the warranty had expired. it creates a very bad glare on the windshield which in my opinion, and many other cases that i have heard from is a safety hazard. *tr
