The dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3 began melting at the beginning of the year. over time, more of the dashboard has become sticky and shiny. sometimes the shininess is so reflective that it makes it difficult for me to see when i am driving on a sunny day. the vehicle resides in hawaii and is kept in a garage when not in use. *tr

The dashboard is melting!! it appears that it is deteriorating causing visibility issues. it is becoming sticky and apparently is a manufacturer defect. as the sun glares down on the windshield, the suns' rays bounce off the shiny dashboard causing me to lose vision in traffic. the mazda dealer is not wanting to replace it stating it is out of warranty. they want me to pay over $400 for the labor and 50% of the part. i even called the mazda hq and they refuse to cover the damage, stating they could do nothing better than the offer the dealership gave me. i requested to speak to higher up management at corporate but was told by the representative that nobody could assist me further. this is so absurd!!! please help before i have an accident. *tr

In last 6 months my dashboard is melting! i have noticed it was getting shiny and sticky as if someone had poured glue on it. i have tried to use numerous different cleaners and nothing happens. the surface is so shiny it is causing glare when i drive or mt teenagers drive the car. this is unsafe. now i am researching and find numerous complaints about same issue. is this also affecting my airbag? *tr

This vehicle had what is being referred to as a "melting dashboard". the material has a defect which causes it to become soft and sticky, resulting in a shiny surface that causes a dangerous glare. visibility becomes impaired, usually because of a reflection on the windshield. my understanding is that this occurs most frequently in regions with high temperature and humidity. mazda inspected my vehicle and verified that mine was affected by this condition. they refused to repair it under warranty because it had recently expired. as a goodwill gesture, they supplied the replacement part and i paid for labor. this is a defective part. it should be recalled. toyota and lexus have the same problem with certain model years and are replacing theirs at no cost to the owner. *tr

My dashboard is melting. the glare gets so bad i can't see out of the windshield. *tr

The dashboard is melting on the mound above the steering wheel, in direct line of view of road and continues to spread. sticky glue type texture that never dries. unable to put a sun blocker in the vehicle to contain the spreading issue and while driving it creates glare. *tr

Dashboard melted from heat, made the dashboard sticky and shiny to the point where visibility can be affected if the sun hits it the right way making it difficult to see spots in the road. potential hazard to hit, property, pets, or even small children. if they can recall mazda for spiders in their engines then we should be able to recall to fix this visibility hazard. *tr

I have had my vehicle for almost 4 yrs.the dashboard started to melt in 2013. it creates a shiny reflection on the front glass which becomes very irritating unable to see clearly. *tr

The dashboard material is melting. it produces a glare on the windshield on sunny days creating an unsafe driving condition. *tr

Bought this car used in june 2013, and noticed in november of 2013 it started to become sticky on the dashboard as if it is melting.. didnt really become an issue until it began to glare into my windshield causing me to be unable to see. i cannot clean, or touch any part of the dashboard because it is so melted and sticky it sticks to my hands if i do. it is in my direct view of where i should be looking towards the road. huge issue that needs to be addressed. *tr

My dashboard is a sticky safety hazard. i cannot see in front of me while driving, seeing other cars and predestines is impossible with the glare from the dashboard on the window. mazda refuses to do anything about it. *tr

The whole dashboard is melting. *tr

The dashboard is melting away, very sticky and very shiny causing the sun to impair vision as i'm driving. *tr

The front dash in my vehicle has been melting and keeps getting worse as time goes on. when i rub a cloth across it, the fabric sticks to the dash. i'm very good about using a sunshield when parked outside, but this has not prevented the melting. *tr

My dashboard began to melt, and has continued to do so since. the dashboard is sticky and collections dust and grim. the melted material has a glossy shine which reflects a bright glare into the drivers eyes and onto the windshield. it is cosmetically unattractive and causes a driving hazard when operating the vehicle. *tr

Dashboard is melting, sticky and cracking. while driving during the day when the sun is out, it creates a glare right at eye level causing unsafe visibility issues. it is also a sticky mess, which causes dust, dead bugs and hair to stick to my dashboard. *tr

For about a year now i have been noticing that my dashboard has been melting. it has gotten successively worse to the point now that the melting dashboard is reflecting on the windshield. the reflection has gotten so bad during the day when the sun is out that the visibility is greatly impaired. my son was driving the car the other day and he told me he could not see out because of the glare. that is the point where i decided to contact the manufacturer. it seems that they will pay for the part but they are asking me to pay $170.00 for the labor. this is happening through no fault of my own. it is a safety risk for whoever is driving the car and should therefore be covered completely by the manufacturer before there is lives lost through this. *tr

Vehicle was purchased new. the dashboard is melting. it is sticky to the touch and shiny. the shiny areas reflect sunlight and cause difficulty seeing out of the windshield. this should be replaced by the manufacturer as it is an obvious material defect! *tr

Car was purchased in 2009 and up until last year i had very few problems and was very happy with the car. however, last year i noticed my dashboard appeared to be very shiny and extremely sticky. it appeared as though some type of glue had been poured on it. when i touched the dashboard the melted material would come off on my fingers. i took it to the dealership who said they had never seen anything like it. they arranged to have the mazda area representative come and look at it. he examined the dashboard and told me he has seen this before, mostly in states like florida, that are basically hot all year. he stated it was the glue used to secure the dashboard which was leaching up. he approved the dealership to replace the part at no charge, however the dealership said it would cost $300.00 to have it installed. if the part was faulty why do i need to pay to have the new part installed. i have done nothing and continue to have a defective dashboard, my concern is will the airbag work correctly inside this defective dashboard? i have recently seen the investigative report on my local news concerning this issue. without question this is a safety issue in my opinion. *tr

Melting dashboard - causes awful glare in window at times of day. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 mazda 3. the contact stated that the dashboard had a sticky residue or film that was building up. as the failure progressed, the dashboard deteriorated. the contact also experienced a failure with the driver's side seat belt buckle, which was difficult to unbuckle. the contact had to make numerous attempts to unlock the buckle. the cigarette lighter deteriorated and caused the contact's charger to become stuck and unable to be removed. the contact stated that there was an electrical malfunction near the console of the cigarette lighter. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Over time, my dashboard began to melt as i cleaned it with soap and water it only got worse! they glare from the dashboard is so bad that at certain times of day i cannot see out of my windshield. this is not safe! *tr

Top front dashboard is melting. the material is now sticky and can't be cleaned because the rag/towel sticks. when touched black residue sticks to your hands and when driving the sun reflects off the shiny stickiness and causes a driving hazard on the windshield. *js

Within the last year, the heat from the sun has melted the dashboard. it becomes sticky and flaking off. the major issue is the glare it causes on the windshield when driving. *tr

Dashboard began getting sticky, and now it is a gooey shiny mess. there is a reflection in my windshield, and it causes a glare that decreases the visibility. the dashboard is also soft where it has not gotten so bad. i know that there are other owners with the same issue. there needs to be a recall or some other form of remedy. *tr

The top of the dashboard near the windshield is melting. the dashboard is sticky to the touch and has a very glossy look to it. when driving during certain times of the day, the dashboard causes a glare on the windshield in front of the driver making it difficult to see while driving the vehicle. *tr

Dashboard is melting, which has made the surface highly reflective. this results in poor visibility when it reflects into the windshield. could lead to accident if it remains as-is. *tr

Black 2010 mazda 3, purchased used in december 2011; about a year and a half later the dash started getting sticky and now it is literally melting. i have never used any cleaning products on the interior of the car and when i do clean the inside of my car, i use a soft towel. now i cant even clean my dashboard, due to the stickiness and possibility of ruining it even more. the dash causes a severe glare while driving and i feel this lack of visibility is a hazard to the operator of the vehicle, passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians. *tr

This car mazda 3 i purchased in 2011 as a 2010 leftover new, and the dash board is melting creating everything to stick to it, and also obstructing my view through the windshield on sunny days due to the nature of how shiny it is. it looks like a wet down dash but the reflection is creating very difficult viewing problems on sunny days, due to the glare on the windshield from it. it is very dangerous. i would appreciate this being looked into. *tr

My dashboard is melting (and sticky) and is causing a significant glare on my windshield reducing my visibility. i am experiencing a lot of difficulty seeing out of my windshield since it is almost impossible to see out of it at times due to the glare. *tr

My dashboard is melting and causing a dangerous glare during day time driving. 60% of the top dash is melting and does not dry or go back to normal. always sticky and dangerous during sunny days due to glare reflecting off melted surface.

The top of my dashboard has melted. it has a sticky, shiny texture now. i live in florida, so i guess it melted from the heat. it's so bad i can't put anything near or on it for fear it might get ruined by the dashboard (ex: parking passes). the glare sometimes gets bad enough where it obstructs my vision while driving. the car is just about 5 years old now, but the dashboard has been melted for a long time. i'm not sure what to do about it. there must be some kind of health risk from driving around with melting plastic in front of your face. *tr

Dashboard is melting, surface has become sticky and causing glare on windshield. *tr

My dashboard has been increasingly sticky for years now, despite all attempts to clean it. it has increased to the point of reflecting off of the dashboard and distracting me when i drive. i took it into the mazda dealership and they informed me that the dashboard is melting. i cannot imagine the chemicals are good to breathe in. *tr

Unable to see out front windshield due to glare from melting dashboard with sun hitting at certain angles. *tr

Dashboard started melting, to my surprise when i contacted the dealer they said that was probably by a cleaning product witch wasn't the case. this is very distracting when driving during the day and night by the glare, makes it very difficult. it seems it is the case to many others mazda 3 owners i know. i never saw this happening to any car dashboard before. it concerns me because of my safety when driving. *tr

During the summer my dashboard became sticky and shiny due to the heat in florida. if touched the plastic from the dashboard will stick to skin, fabric, and even the window cover. even during the cooler months the dashboard never returns to its original texture. again using a window cover doesn't keep the dashboard from melting since the car continue to heat up. this causes a serious glare during the middle of the day and makes the dashboard more susceptible to damage or staining other parts of my car. *tr

2010 mazda 3 dash panel/dashboard (p/n: bbm460400h02) is melting. the dash panel soft-touch coating material first turned sticky and eventually disintegrated into a viscous substance. surface finish turned from matte to high gloss. the now reflective dash surface causes a large glare on the windshield and obstructs driver's visibility. *tr

Hi, this morning i was driving on my way to work when all of a sudden my entire sunroof exploded and shattered. there was nothing that hit my car, nor nothing that hit my sunroof. i was traveling at 65mph on i-25 in albuquerque, nm. neither the sunroof nor the car have been changed in anyway from their stock form. the explosion of the sunroof was very scary and almost cause me to crash. *tr

Dashboard getting very soft in the sun. always remains sticky and continues to leave residue on the windshield causing glare. *tr

Dashboard melted due to sun exposure - dashboard had to replaced due to glare on windshield. *tr

Dash board melting. *tr

My 2010 mazda 3 drives fine and does not have mechanical issues. the issue involves the interior dashboard. since it was made from some type of rubber, the sun has been melting it. aesthetically it doesn't look good, but while driving toward the direction of the sun, the glare it causes on my front windshield has been affecting my driving. i have spoken to a couple of people at a local mazda dealership and one ridiculous employee gave me recommendations such as to park my car in a garage, or under trees whenever possible. apart from those idiotic remarks, i will have to pay out-of-pocket due to the fact that i am now past my warranty. i previously owned a mitsubishi for 10 years and that never had issues along those lines. i have taken various photographs of how my vision is being obstructed and would happily send them to anyone i need to. the cheap rubber material used for the dashboard should not simply melt because of the sun. the sun will always be present, therefore these things should be taken into consideration during manufacturing. i would love to get this issue resolved before having to lose money and never deal with mazda again. overall i like the car, but i cannot stand the way the interior has diminished in such a short period of time. *tr

My dash board is melting and during the day it is hard to see out the front windshield due to the glare the melting dash board. the front hood paint is chipping off only on select sections over the engine. *tr
