Dashboard melting. glare on winshield

My dashboard is melting. when i rub my finger on it black residue easily comes off. if you press down with your finger it is very easy to take chunks off with your nail. the gooey dashboard is shiny which emits a reflection on the windshield which then in turn impairs my vision. this can be very dangerous as one drives. when one goes into the car it emits an odor similar to a plastic fork that has been left in a dishwasher. inhaling toxins is not something i want as part of my daily life.

My dashboard is melting. my car isn't even five years old and the dashboard has basically melted to a point where i have to replace it. there are issues all over about this on certain vehicles and as far as i understand mazda will not place a recall, but says i have to pay $1500 to fix it because the glare of the melting reflects off my windshield when i drive which causes a hazard.

I purchased my 2010 mazda 3 in august of 2009. since that time i have noticed the dashboard feeling sticky. it has now progressed to almost melting which causes a horrible glare on the windshield which impacts my ability to see effectively when driving on sunny days.

The dashboard is cracking on the passenger side and melting on the drivers side.

I currently have a 2010 mazda 3. i have noticed for about the past 2 years that i am getting this sticky residue on my dashboard and now it seems to be getting worse and worse!! it does not look good. this should be considered a recall because had i know the dash would start melting i would have never purchased my vehicle in the first place but of course a dealership will not tell its customers these things because they just want to make there sell. such a rip off!

The dashboard is melting. it is worse on the driver's side and continues across the whole dashboard. it is causing a noxious fumes and a glare that at times goes across the lower part of the windshield. the glare is worse in the morning as the sun rises and on sunny days. the glare changes as you drive and makes the road appear as if something is in front of you on the road. the glare can be from 5 inches directly in your line of sight to going across at least 2/3 of your viewing line through the windshield-causing it to look as if someone has thrown slick oil or a silver sheet of metal in the road. have swerved quite a few times (depending on the direction i am driving), can't see when people step off of a curb, as the glare comes in the soon and can be there from the start of your drive or appear out of the blue as you change directions or park. you can't help to respond to the glare when it appears-especially when on unfamiliar roads. the smell is of burning plastic. i live in florida any day over 80 degrees in the shade or when parked directly in the sun causes the dashboard to emit a noxious smell, get soft and gooey. bugs, insect droppings, dust, and lint get stuck in the dashboard and cause glare. i drive at least 3 hour/day minimum. the smell causes a headache/sore throat/nausea. i can't put a visor to block the sun-it gets stuck in the melting dash and the visor. when you remove the visor it splatters "goo/plastic" onto the windshield, which can only be removed with a razor. risking getting the hot goo on your hand/arm/face. you cannot wipe away any of the melting part as it is really sticky and the dashboard only continues to melt. i sell real estate and no longer take customers into my car not allowing me to do business the way most sales people do, because clients complain of the smell/feeling sick.

My dashboard is melting as it gets hotter here, i have found others with this issue on line and there are class action suits but i really just want mine replaced by mazda before i ever buy out next one, if they do not fix it we will buy another makers vehicle for our next car. it's really sticky and nasty and will glare in the sunshine .

The inside panel of the driver, with heat gets sticky and prevent the display brighter than the sun

The dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3 is melting. it appears to be very sticky and reflective. it happened about a week ago and is spreading quickly. i have not spilled anything on it, i have not used any harsh chemicals to clean the dash, and i keep the car in general as clean as i can. when i am driving into the sun there is a glare/reflection on the windshield that i have a hard time seeing through. i am unable to clean it because it is so sticky. if the affected area keeps spreading, then the glare on windshield will become larger and larger. i do not want the glare to become so big i can't see cars slowing down in front of me or anything else of that nature. the dealerships will not do anything about it. in my mind this is a defective part and should be replaced.

I purchased a 2010 mazda 3 in 2009. this year (2015), around april/may, before the summer heat even got bad, i noticed the dashboard was sticky. since then, it has pretty much completely melted. the dashboard is extremely sticky and soft when you touch it, almost has a putty consistency, but that is not the main issue. the safety issue is my main concern. there is a horrible glare the shine from the dashboard creates on the front windshield. it is almost impossible to see out of the front windshield when the sun is out because of this glare. a dashboard cover is not an option because of how sticky the dashboard is; a cover will definitely get stuck to the dash and destroy it. i have done some research online and there are hundreds of claims for melting dashboards for models between 2009 and 2011. this is such a serious safety hazard, it is difficult to understand why the manufacturer has not been forced to recall these faulty parts.

The dashboard started becoming sticky in early 2015 and became worse as the weather became hotter. the affected area is now around 36 inches by 8 inches with the worst part being around 20 inches by 4 inches. the affected area is sticky and very shiny. this shine reflects onto the wind shield, making it very hard to see on sunny days.

Dashboard melted completely, i am not able to operate the vehicle from the hours of 10am - 4:30pm because it's impossible to see the road, the windshield looks completely white from the glare in the dashboard, contacted dealership where i bought the car several times and they don't want to take responsibility for it. this is an accident waiting to happen and mazda doesn't do anything!!!!! impossible to operate vehicle at regular hours!!

The dashboard of our 2010 mazda 3 is melting. *js

The dash board is melting which is causing a reflection into the windshield making it difficult to see while driving.

Melting dashboard!!!! my mazda's dashboard has been insanely sticky and melting over the last 8 months. pieces of my dashboard have been ruined simply by touching the sticky residue or by my sun visor getting stuck to it. when i take my car to the car wash, they can't wipe the dash because the towel gets stuck to the sticky residue. the glare is so bad when the sun is directly hitting my car that i have to put my head to the complete left or right of my car while driving in order to see. i fear that i will get in an accident because of how dangerous the glare is! i feel like i can't drive my car during the day anymore. i refuse to get a dash board cover because that will too also completely stick to my regular dash and i will never be able to take it off because it'll completely ruin the car and devalue it if i ever try to sell it in the near future. so disappointed in mazda, this is my second mazda and definitely my last. cheap. this needs to be fixed, it is a dangerous hazard.

My dashboard is melting, getting sticky and smelly it reflects on my windshield and it makes really hard to see

The top of the dashboard is melting. the sheen is creating a dangerous reflecting glare off the windshield.

Front dash has melted causing a dangerous glare on the windshield. concerned about toxicity inside car due to melting.

My 2010 mazda3's dash has melted! it started about a year ago and is causing me to have to look for another vehicle if i can't get this fixed soon. it is ridiculous that a car manufacturer can't fix this problem or even make a car that doesn't melt in the sun. i was going to get another mazda but now that this happened i doubt it! there is a horrible glare and i can't see when the sun is out! plus there is lint and bugs stuck all in it like a glue trap! am i in the twightlight zone? and reading all of the mazda experiences with others i am discouraged.

When i bought my mazda 3,, it seemed like a great buy months later the dash started melting away, i have called mazda and they have never returned my calls or fixed the problem. this can be dangerous as its melting and is well over 100 degrees in the car, if one of my nephews or daughter was to touch it, they could very well be burned seriously as it is very sticky and goopy.

Over time the dashboard has gone from a matt black rubber material to a very shiny, sticky, melting surface, which is quite visible when looking forward through the windshield. it adversely effects the visibility, especially when driving into the sun.

Multiple times, starting in the summer of the vehicle's fourth year, i have been unable to see clearly through the windshield due to the glare from the melting dashboard. luckily it has not caused any injuries or death due to the fact that i was aware of the problem and more diligent of others on the road. *tr

I own a 2010 mazda 3 and the entire dashboard is melting, sticky, and causes significant visibility issues especially during daytime hours. in my line of vision, there are reflective issues coming off of the melting dashboard impairing my vision during driving. this could potentially cause a serious or fatal accident. in addition, after sitting in the sun for just a few hours, the melting dashboard puts off various odors that i am sure are probably not healthy to breathe in. i have heard of several other mazda owners with the same complaint of their dashboards melting and mazda not wanting to correct the problem especially when vehicles are out of the warranty period.

My 2010 mazda3 has a black tar-like substance that has coated the soft dashboard. i first noticed it last summer (2014). this defect has caused a huge glare across my windshield that limits my visibility any time light is reflected off of it.

The plastic dashboard panel has melted and now has a sticky texture. it is also highly reflective, causing dangerous glare on the windshield when driving.

Dash has glare from on the top that causes safety issues. dash has areas that are melting and cause glare from the sun that prevents safe driving. mazda needs to replace dash just like toyota is doing on even older cars. mazda choose inferiors parts and not owners have a safety issue; mazda step-up and replace the dash on mazda 3.

Takata recall ---sticky dashboard which is melting and when driving the reflection from the glare of the sticky dashboard on the windshield makes it hard to see when driving, a lot of times i cant see depending on how the sun is shining i have to slow down or hit my brakes..very scary... just want this documented in case an accident happens

I own a 2010 mazda 3 the dashboard is melting, sticky, and smells, mazda would not relace it under warranty, i was just outside warranty window, my last mazda purchase!!!

Dashboard cover is melting causing extreme glare and inability to drive safely.

Dashboard melting. the dashboard has melted. it causes a severe glare on the windshield that makes it difficult to drive at time. have had to cover up when this occurs.

Dashboard and visor's melted off.

I purchased the vehicle ealry 2010. around 2013 my dashboard started to shine a bit in a small section by the driver side. i touched it and the material of the dashboard was sticky. now, 2016, the whole dashboard is sticky and shiney due to what i found out was a melting dashboard. this is causing a horrible reflection on my window when driving, especially when the sun hits. even at night i have trouble seeing properly. my visibility driving is being affected and it is not safe. on top of that, everything sticks to my dashboard and ends up with black gunk on it. the pictures i've attached do not do it justice, it's worse than what it looks in the pictures.

The dash has been melting for the last 3 years. in the summer it gets squishy and has started to fall apart. using sun shield is difficult because they stick to the dash and the dash melts to the cover.

The dashboard, particularly the part over the steering wheel is melting. it is sticky and shiny, and it creates a horrible glare on the windshield at certain times of the day.

The dashboard on my 2010 mazda 3 started melting about two years ago becoming more sticky and reflective over time to point where it has a plastic, chemical smell emitting from it. moreover, it has become almost impossible to see out of the driver side window due to the severe reflection. this has progressively worsened over the past year. i am in disbelief that the manufacturer would use material for a dashboard that melts and emits chemicals. clearly, mazda chose to use inferior materials for the dashboard. considering the plethora of complaints and statements regarding the safety issue of limited visibility due to reflection, it is vastly irresponsible that mazda has not issued a recall to correct this problem. vehicle owners should not be left to seeking class action law suits to make mazda correct their mistake.

I have a 2010 mazda 3 with 38,000. the dashboard is melting. *tr

I am having issues with my dashboard melting and being extremely sticky. the glare from the sticky dashboard makes it very hard to see the road. when driving, i have to try and look over or under the glare. this is not safe!

My dashboard has begun to melt all the way across. it is awful. i find myself having to tilt my head when driving as it creates a glare that is difficult and could be a safety hazard. it is really hard on the eyes as well. i have tried to use a shield but the shield sticks to the melting dash and then makes for an additional mess on the windshield when trying to remove before driving. please do something. thank you. this should be paid at the expense of mazda. cars have been driving without this issue in temperatures all over the world. this is wrong.

2010 mazda 3 dashboard is melting. condition is more pronounced during hot summer months. as a result of the melting dash, visibility can occasionally become obscured by sunlight glare causing serious safety hazards. melting dash material is transferred to removable sun screen put in to reflect sunlight out of the vehicle - this melted dash material can then be transferred to the windshield itself which is difficult to clean.

Approximately 2 years ago i noticed my dash board was wet looking and sticky. it has progressively gotten worse. my dash board is melting. this is a huge saftey hazzard as the glare from the melting dash affects my vision when driving during the daylight. *js

A low speed rear-end collision resulted in an immediate explosion of the vehicle, causing a large external fire and smoke to enter the cabin upon impact. the structural damage to the vehicle occurred on the front-right; the fire destroyed the entire front 2/3 of the vehicle (totaling the vehicle). the concern is that such a low speed impact should not cause an explosion which could potentially have injured or killed the driver and passengers.
