I recived a recall notice at least 7-8 months ago and, after waiting patiently for many months i contacted the dealer who informed me that the parts had not been received. later, i also called chrysler and was told the parts would be available in about one month. now, they are still telling me "in another month or so." i am concerned because, if i am rear-ended due to no fault of my own, i will not be protected from a firey explosion. *js

I filled up my gas tank at the gas station and the gas started over-flowing out of the gas tank after stopping the pump from pumping. *tr

When fueling the jeep, the jeep overfills every time, every pump. i contacted jeep but they refuse to help fix the problem. this is a major safety hazard to the person fueling the vehicle. the dealership has said it has to replace the fuel tank. *tr

Fuel overflow at the gas pump. the pump will not shut off when tank is reaching the full point, therefore spilling fuel on the car, ground and often the person pumping gas. *tr

Since i haven received my jeep liberty renegade 2006 model. my husband and i have noticed that everytime we would fill up the gas tank. that lots of gas would pour out onto the car and the ground. we have done internet research and have found that lots of jeep liberty owners are having this same issue. there are videos and thousands of comments in regards to this issue. i have also contacted the epa,[xxx] and they are aware of the problem and had chrysler issue a recall to fix this issue. however my vehicle year falls out of the recall dates listed. we i spoke with them they said to contact you guys because there is not as many of my vehicle years to expand the recall. i feel this is a huge safety issue and need help with trying to get a recall on my vehicle year. i have taken the vehicle to our local chrysler dealer and they want to pay for a brand new gas tank at $500.00+ and i don't feel that because i own a 06 and not an 07 or 08 that i should have to pay for this defect. i contacted chrysler main number and they told me that my vehicle is not involved in the recall. when it should be. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I am the original owner of this jeep liberty first of all and i love it, but it is dangerous! i can't fill the gas tank on my jeep liberty with out it spewing back out. the first time it happened gas was all on the ground at the gas station. it got all over my hands and paints leg and burned my skin. i was out of town and didn't have an extra pair of pants to change into. all i could do is pull off at the next exit and try to clean my skin in the restroom. now i have to hold my ear down to the gas nozzle to hear the tank filling up. my husband can't hear well so i can't let him fuel the liberty. out of fear of gas getting on others and on the ground, i am the only one that fuels the tank. chrysler will not replace the gas tank because it shows no problem under my vin number. this is a public and environmental safety problem with gasoline on people and all over the ground! i need this tank replaced, just thunk about it....1/2 gallon of gasoline on the ground for every other jeep liberty like mine out there. i talked with jeep customer service again today and was still denied. *tr

While filling up with gas, if you try to fill the tank, gas pours out of the tank before the hose can shut itself off. gas covers the side of the car, is all over anyone standing near and the ground. when i walk away from the car, the gas station attendant says i must stay with the car during the gassing process. is it safe to have a car where the auto shutoff doesn't work for a fluid as flammable as gas? i have tried many gas stations, this occurs at every station, and hoped the problem would correct itself, it has not. *tr

Every time i fill the gas tank, about a cup of gas shoots out as the gas hose turns off. *tr

Gas tank overflowed spilling gas on ground when pump cut off. has happened at different gas stations so fault is in jeep fill system. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty diesel. the contact stated that when refueling to capacity, fuel would leak from the vehicle. the failure ceased for a short time but later recurred. the leak would not occur when the fuel tank was first filled, but would leak over time. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 52,094 and the current mileage was 63,900. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that whenever refueling the vehicle, the fuel shut off valve failed to operate and fuel would continuously overflow from the fuel tank. the fuel would spill onto the contact's clothing and then onto the ground. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who advised that the fuel tank would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the defect and informed the owner that they would be responsible for $400.00 of the repair expense and the remaining costs would be the manufacturer's responsibility. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that after refueling the fuel tank, fuel spilled back out from the filler neck. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or an independent mechanic. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 120,000. the current mileage was approximately 160,000. *tr

The gas tank overflows everytime it is filled. this happens at any gas station and every time it is left on autofill. the jeep also emits a strong odor of gas regularly. *tr

Fuel tank overflows, per repair shop needs to be replaced due to faulty valve. was told that this is same valve that prevent fuel spillage in the event of a rollover. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start and there was an abnormal fuel smell. the vehicle was towed to an auto shop for diagnostics. the technician stated that the fuel pump would have to be replaced. after the fuel pump was replaced, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated the front driver side window and the rear driver and passenger side window would not open. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

This problem pertains to the 2006 jeep liberty crd 2.8l diesel. under acceleration from 55 mph to 65 mph, the vehicle stalled and would not go over 3,000 rpm. when the vehicle slowed to 45 mph, it would not increase speed, effectively in a "limp-in mode" . after the vehicle stopped, the engine was shut off for about 2 minutes then restarted. the vehicle traveled for approximately 5-7 miles with no problems then the incident happened again. the vehicle was towed to the jeep dealer where it was purchased and after two weeks the dealer basically gave up trying to fix the car. the issue has not been fixed and as i scan the internet i find this is a common yet dangerous problem with this vehicle. *tr

Gas spills out of the tank when you allow it to use out shut-off of the gas pump. we paid $1885.82 for a new gas tank. now our 2nd 2006 liberty is doing the same thing. *tr

For the last 2 years the gas tank belches fuel every time if the tank is filled up. i never top off the tank but by the time the automatic release on the fuel pump shuts off about 1/2 second later several ounces of fuel pour out of the gas tank and down the side of the jeep and onto the ground. it seems like a major safety issue and there are hundreds of complaints online. is there a recall or investigation for this problem? *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. while pumping fuel into the tank's filler neck, the fuel leaked out without warning. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.

Everytime i get my gas tank filled on my jeep liberty it spills over onto the vehicle and the ground and makes my car smell of gas for a couple of days after, this first occurred while i was at a full service gas station i heard the pump stop followed by gas pouring out and the service attendant yelled, jeep must be full! naturally i told the gas attendant he overfilled my tank and his response was, no its just a jeep thing, at first i didn't believe him but then the next time a filled it at another gas station the same thing happened (full service as well) i then filled the tank myself the following time and it happened to me as well! naturally i don't fill my tank anymore! i have two young children and now i am hearing about all these recalls on suspension and gas tanks exploding it rear ended! i think it is time for chrysler to step up and recall these death traps! i like my jeep, the way it drives and the 4x4 feature but this is just to risky to keep these vehicles on the road, how many people need to get hurt or killed because they don't want to dish out the money for the recall. they probably wouldn't want their kids in a vehicle like that, so why should ours?!! *tr

Every time i fill up my gas tank it overflows before the nozzle shuts off. this has happened routinely at multiple gas stations. i have stopped trying to completely fill up my tank but if someone else fills my tank and does their math wrong the gas starts spilling out onto them and the ground. i have taken it to a local dealer about the issue and they wanted to replace my entire tank and i would have to pay over $1,000 for them to do so, even though its a known problem in other jeep models. this is a safety hazard and has the potential to do great harm to someone. i have not been in any accidents which shows that's its a structural/component issue and not that it somehow got knocked out of wack. *tr

When filling the gas tank the tank overflows every time as the tank reaches the full point the dealer states a new tank is required and they are aware of the defect but it is the customer?s problem at a cost of about $1600.00 this is a safety and fire hazard and needs to be address by chrysler. there is also a problem with the window regulators the plastic clip that holds the windows up snaps off at random and the windows fall down again chrysler is aware of the design defect but refuses any help or permanent fix. *tr

Every time i fuel up, the fuel pump does not stop and overflows. i have to guess when it's full and stop the fuel pump manually. *tr

The 2006 jeep liberty spills fuel when filling at a gas station. the station pump shuts off and then a few cups of fuel overflows onto the side of the vehicle and the ground. if it is windy, you will get fuel everywhere. it doesn't matter what gas station you go to or how fast you fill up. your only option is to stop the pump before the tank is full. *tr

When pumping gas, it does not automatically shut off, and the gas overflows. i had it looked at, and they said the entire gas tank would need to be replaced. *tr

The gas tank shoots a large quantity of fuel out each time when refueling, which covers the rear quarter panel of the vehicle in gasoline as well as the person pumping. this occurs consistently, each time the vehicle is filled regardless of factors such as pump speed, temperature, depth or position of the nozzle. it is very difficult to time fueling so that the tank is not full so this does not occur. this is a safety hard due to the inability of the gas tank to hold the gasoline, which would be dangerous in the event of even a minor accident. it is also hazardous for the vehicle and individual to be covered in a highly flammable substance such as gasoline in the event of an accident. many other drivers of this model also say this happens continually, that it is a consistent defect among others across these models and chrysler dealerships refuse to fix the issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the engine light remained illuminated. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel cap needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 181,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 jeep liberty. the contact stated that while parked, the rear driver's side window dropped into the door panel. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. the mechanic stated that the window regulator would have to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. additionally, while refueling the vehicle fuel spewed out of the filler neck. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000. *tr

The gas tank overflows every time the vehicle is filled up. gas station pumps do not automatically stop when filling the tank. this occurs every time and at every gas station. this has the potential for starting a fire. it also leaks fuel into the environment. *tr
