I have a 2003 jeep liberty, as i was crossing a rr track the back passenger window went down by itself. the local jeep dealer says it is going to cost $400 to $500 to repair, i could not afford it so had to put a peg in the window to hold it up, about 1 year later my son rolled down the back driver side and it would not roll up, it is same thing happened on the other window, as i was looking online this is happening alot. i am wondering along with lots of other people why the is no recall been placed on considering there are so many cases. just because no injuries have occurred does not mean they should get away with not fixing their bad parts. if it was one or two cases i could see them not fixing it but all i have read online it is way more than that. we the consumer should be protected from the big automakers. *tr
On several occasions my car has stalled. prior to it stalling it would have power surges, backfire, the rpm needle would go crazy, and then just shut off loosing all power to brakes and steering. stalling would occur mostly at lower rates of speeds (under 50mph). it wouldn't turnover immediately. i would have to wait 20 to 25 seconds each time and then it would start, almost as if the system resets itself. it's pretty scary when you have to young children and your on a freeway and your car all of a sudden stalls. the second problem i'm having is a very loud noise coming from the rear end. i pointed my side mirror down towards my backtire. i watched as the rearend made a load cluncking noise and it was as if the back tire was being pushed outwards. the third problem is my passenger side rear window just dropped into the door. the motor still works i can hear it. and last but no least my left turn signal blinks extremely fast and then sometimes it doesn't. my car is currently at the jeep dealership. i think it's kind of funny that the guy wants to charge me $200 to investigate the problems i'm having to find out what it is. thanks to everyone's complaints i can call him and tell him the problems, as if he didn't already know. goodluck to everyone. *tr
Power windows failing to stay up due to faulty regulators: two years ago the rear left window of my 2003 liberty fell into the door casing. when using the atomatic buttons, the window would not go up and the window motor would simply attempt to raise the window with no success. upon taking it to the jeep dealer, they stated the window regulator neeeded to be replaced. after paying $227.94, my window was fixed and back to normal. surprisingly, a few months later, the right window fell while driving on the highway (this is a major safety issue). back to the same dealership we went, for a second and unnecessary diagnostic (the maintence man said this was a problem he had frequently seen) to determine the regulator was broken. i paid to have the second window fixed and continued to drive my car. this week, the left rear window fell again while driving down the street in my neighborhood (20 mph). i contacted jeep headquarters directly after researching online (inculding the nhtsa website) that this is clearly not an isolated incident and they have neglected to address the saftey issue with their automobile owners. they are requesting that i take my jeep back in for another diagnostic, and to confirm there has been no "neglect" of maintenance on my part. my jeep has just over 65,000 miles ' it is in perfect condition with the exception of faulty windows. upon inspection of the dealer this week, jeep says they will determine the next step depending on the results. this issue is dangerous for multiple reasons - children riding in the car, the frightening noise made from the dropping window, lack of security when parking the car/at a stop, weather (rain, hail, snow, etc.), drivers startled by the drop and attempting to assess the situation while driving, etc. according to jeep headquarters via phone, they dishonestly claim to be unaware of the situation. *tr
I have had to fix my rear window regulators 4 times and it is broke again. they are made so cheap, there is a plastic piece in it that keeps breaking, the motor still works but due to the plastic piece you have to replace the whole thing. it has become very expensive. now i have my window stopped from opening. it fell and no one is ever in the back seat. *tr
My power windows broke in the back seat of my 2003 jeep liberty. *tr
On three separate occasions one of the rear windows on my jeep liberty has fallen into the door panel and become inoperable. the first two times required the replacement of a window regulator. the third instance happened today and i'm sure will require the same solution. *tr
2003 jeep liberty complaint: visibility:power windows and controls details: on three separate occasions the rear windows of my jeep liberty have fallen into the door panel and become inoperable. no warranty. had to pay over $300 to dealership for each occurrence to fix windows! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact stated the windows electric motor was defective which caused the windows to roll down automatically without any warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that the motor was defective and needed to be replaced. the remedy failed to repair the problem. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who decided to reimburse her for the repair cost. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 62,000.
My rear windows have fallen 4 times (2 times each) since i've owned the vehicle. the regulator/motor has failed each time. the regulator/motor came directly from jeep each time. i've spent approximately $1300 to fix these flaws. *tr

I have 2003 jeep liberty and the passenger side window motor has went out. i searched the internet and found alot of other people has had the same problem. when i remove the motor it was made of cheap plastic i can not believe they did this knowing that it would break so easy. *tr
No unusual events leading to failure. failure was the left rear door window regulator. consequences are driving with inclement weather entering the vehicle and distracting the driver. failure was corrected by replacement of regulator. *tr
Three(3) broken window regulators. *tr
Rear passenger side window fell of track. came outside to the car and noticed the window was rolled down slightly. tried to roll up and i can hear the motor but nothing happened. im guessing its probably a cable that snapped. did a little research and it seems that im not the only liberty owner with this problem. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty sport. the contact stated that the passenger and drivers side rear window fell down into the door and he was unable to roll it back up. the contact mentioned that the failure previously occurred four times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the window actuator was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since there were no recalls. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 110,000.
The blower switch on the dash for heat ,defrost, air, etc. failed and only works on the highest setting. this is odd because, three different models of chrysler in my family this all happen to. jeep, liberty, jeep, wrangler, and dodge, caravan. i would say this is a issue but no answers from chrysler. *tr
Rear passenger drivers side window has fallen and been replaced twice, it did it again so now it is screwed up. in research this is a major problem with the vehicle. *tr
Rear passenger drivers side window has fallen and been replaced twice, it did it again so now it is screwed up. in research this is a major problem with the vehicle. *tr
I have a 2003 jeep liberty and the electric window motors have gone out 4 times from 2007 to present. 3 motor/regulators have stopped working in the rear drive window (the original and 2 replacements), and now the passenger side window motor is out. the window just drops and will only move manually. *tr
Champion chrysler-jeep inc safety recall f23 customer is very upset that after getting recall fixed that she had to pay out of pocket for the upper ball joints**cc the dealer stated the rear right seatbelt does not latch and the left right power window does not work. the consumer has provided the invoices for repair. update *tr
Rear window driver's side fell down - window regulator replaced (2006). rear window passenger side fell down- window regulator replaced (2008). rear window passenger side fell down - window regulator replaced (2009 part under warranty). rear window driver's side fell down- window regulator not yet replaced (2009). no old parts available except one that has yet to be replaced. contacted customer assistance in auburn hills, mi and was told that there was nothing they could do for me. i asked if there were any records of defect for this part or if any other owners had similar complaints and was told that they don't keep those sort of records. since this time i have come in contact with 3 parties that have the same problem with this part (faulty window regulator) i believe there are many more that have a problem with this part and that the manufacturer should be held responsible for repairs and reimbursement for repairs already completed (by dealer or other). *tr
Rear window regulator had to be replaced twice. the repair facility no longer will repair/replace the regulator, since the dealer no longer will accept responsibility and refuses to warranty the regulator. the regulator obviously is a manufacture defect, but chrsyler/jeep is not being held responsible, therefore continues to charge the consumer for new replacements. the first replacement was in 2006, the second in 2007, and is currently held in place by wire. i cannot afford to continue replacing a defective part. *tr
Both rear passenger windows on my 2003 jeep liberty have fallen off of the track. when i took my car into the dealership, a man who worked there informed me that this happens "all the time to liberty's." he claimed the motor was too small. i was upset when the dealership wanted $350 to fix the problem. i live in an area where it rains often, and the window slipping allows for water to get in. furthermore, a friend who owns a liberty has the same problem. i am wondering how common this problem really is, and whether or not there should be a recall. *jb
Rear window regulators fail...even after replacement. 1st incident noted below. has happened 2 more times since then. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact stated that the automatic windows would unexpectedly open and could not be closed. the dealer diagnosed that there was a window regulator failure. the contact stated that the failure was a continual occurrence. the failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 86,000.... updated 10/17/11 *bf the manufacturer offered to repair the vehicle for $115 copay. chrysler repaired the vehicle free of charge on jan 10, 2011. then fixed it six months later. the window has since fallen into the door again. updated 10/28/11
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact stated that all four windows malfunctioned and opened independently. the vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and they advised the contact that the regulators would need to be replaced due to a plastic component. the vehicle was repaired six times and for the same exact failure. the most recent failure was the seventh occurrence. the failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The window regulator has broken in both of my rear windows multiple times. it broke in the rear driver's side window on: jan. 2005, jun. 2008, jan. 2010, & oct. 2011. it has also broken in the rear passenger's side window on: sept. 2005; dec. 2007; sept. 2009; oct. 2010; & jan. 2012. that would be a total of 9 times. obviously the part that is being used is inferior since it continually breaks and at best lasts around 2 years. i have calculated that this part has cost me a grand total of $1,295. jeep has offered assistance in paying for the repairs but i have always had some financial responsibility. i feel that this is a safety hazard because when the part malfunctions the window slides all the way into the door. this could be a potential safety issue if i had young children riding in the backseat. i feel like jeep is using a substandard part so they can continue to make money off of me. *tt
2003 jeep liberty every window regulator has been repaired at least once. spent over 1,000 in repairs. google it... numerous complaints about this model from every year with same problem. needs to be recalled and fixed! money owed back to owners. *tr
Problem is with rear power windows when the assembly breaks the cable jams the door lock and you can not open the rear door. *tt
I have replaced nine window regulators, affecting all four windows. the windows simply drop into the door frame, leaving passengers vulnerable and the jeep unsecured.
Rear window actuators will break without warning and drop the rear windows completely while driving. since this model of liberty has the "severe buffeting" problem when this happens, it can cause incredible surprise and disoriented to the point a possible accident. this has happened three times and the dealer refuses to fix them anymore. both windows are semi-permanently manually fixed in place by me. *tr
While driving 25 mph rear windshield exploded, sending broken glass into the vehicle. *ak
I also have a 2003 jeep liberty and i have had to replace my driver side rear passenger window regulator 3 times. it is made out of cheap plastic. the motor still works but the plastic piece just wears to nothing if you use the window. the replacement is a one unit system and it needs to be made stronger. *tr
Vehicle had power surges. *ph problem with transmission slipping and windshield freezing. *mr *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2003 jeep liberty. the contact stated that over a span of seven years, each of the windows failed and dropped down into the door panel abnormally. the failure occurred while the contact was driving and while the vehicle was parked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and an independent mechanic to be repaired for a total of five times. the contact was informed that a plastic part within the window mechanism had melted, causing the glass to drop down into the door panel. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 42,000. the vin was unavailable.
Computer failure, engine cut off, interior lights, five window motors and glass..car should be recalled..safety issues. *tr
