We have classified the 340 complaints from 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
This has been an ongoing issue since i purchased this vehicle new. jeep/chrysler has been unable to fix the problem along with many other major electrical system failures and glitches. the steering wheel controls will become in operable and the steering wheel heater will continue to heat up until it is so hot i am unable to hold the steering wheel. the only solution is to shut the vehicle down lock up and let it sit for a couple hours. last evening when this issue occurred i decided to drive home, and grab my laser thermometer. upon turning on the steering wheel heater it quickly heated up to 125 degrees. then 142 degrees, then 150... the maximum temperature reading was 169 degrees at which point i shut the vehicle down. the american burn associations states that 3rd degree burns will occur to human skin with 5 seconds of exposure at 140 degrees, 2 seconds at 148 degrees and 1 second at 158 degrees. i have had the vehicle serviced multiple times for this issue with no repairs being conducted because they were unable to reproduce the issue nor find an error code. jeeps typical "fix" for any electrical issue is to "flash" the uconnect system which to date has not resolved a single issue. i have requested on two different occasions that jeep replace the vehicle due to chronic major electrical system failures. jeep consistently states that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. to date they have replaced nearly every module and the entire uconnect system (which controls every aspect of the vehicle including every safety system) with no success. at this point, i have experienced so many different electrical issues with the airbags and other major safety systems that i have no idea if they will actually work as intended. i will add that i have not experienced a single mechanical issue with this vehicle. *tr

I have been trying to get the p60 jeep grand cherokee recall (alternator diode) repaired since early november 2014. two different jeep dealerships have both said there are no parts available to make the repairs and no estimate for when parts may become available. there is no waiting list. the dealerships advised to just try calling back every couple of months. the fca customer assistance helpline provided the same information and advice. the recall notifies the driver that "the driver will have limited or no detection of the alternator failing, which can result in vehicle shutdown while driving and/or an underhood electrical fire." the fca helpline advised to not drive the vehicle if possible. how can you not drive your vehicle for over seven months? the dealerships advise it could be several additional months until parts are available. how is this an acceptable response to a clearly dangerous situation? *tr

I received a recall notice # p60/nhtsa 14v-634 regarding the alternator diode, which states that a failure could result in vehicle shutdown/and or underhood electrical fire, calls to car dealer & chrysler group recall assistance center today, both state, parts not yet available, no information as to when parts will be available, but keep driving & paying for the car this is not an acceptable response, chrysler needs to fix the problem or repurchase the vehicle. *tr

I took my car in by appointment today at 7:30am today (10/27) to helfman river oaks chrysler, dodge, jeep, 4807 kirby drive, houston,tx. i took it in for recall p36, sun visor wiring. the recall letter says the repair can be done in 1.6 hours. however the service advisor tells me at 7:30am that the car will not be ready for 2 days. i ask to make an appointment for a later day, when the recall can be done within 1 day. he tells me the recall will require 2 days no matter when i bring it in , and i can't make an appointment to have the recall done in one day. this practice will simply encourage people to not do the recall service. this is a dangerous practice. what good is a recall letter, if the dealer will always require 2 days to do the recall service- even though the recall letter states it should take 1.6 hours, and the owner is willing to make an appointment in the future for the recall service. this is effectively discouraging owners from doing the safety recall. *tr

I received a sun visor warning recall in the mail on my 2014 jeep grand cherokee in september (recall p36 / nhtsa 14v-391). the recall advised that i should contact the dealer after september 15 2014. i called fullerton jeep in nj on friday october 3. i was told that they would order the part and call me within three weeks when it arrived. i called to follow-up 3 weeks later on friday oct 24. i was told the part was not in and they could not advise on when it would arrive. i was told they would call me when it arrived. it is now thurs nov 13 and i have not heard from the dealer. it is incredibly concerning to receive a notification in the mail in september and 9 weeks later be unable to have it repaired. this seems unacceptable. *tr
Attempted to have jeep/chrysler recall p14 (brake booster) and p36 (sunvisor wiring) completed. fair oaks chantilly jeep chrysler inspected the vehicle but stated there was a nation-wide shortage of parts and the brake recall could not be completed for 2-3 months. after talking to the chrysler customer assistance hotline, i was advised chrysler does not have sufficient parts in stock to handle all of the brake booster recalls. when asked for additional details i was told the reason behind the parts shortage was "confidential." i was further advised to "drive slow" and "avoid using the car as much as possible." they confirmed the wait time for replacement parts to "address this important safety issues" was 2-3 months. *tr

There is a safety recall for a possible failing generator for my vehicle but i have not been included in the recall and am worried about my vehicle suddenly stalling and causing an accident. i have a 204 with a 3.6 8 speed engine that was manufactured during the time period indicated the recall is # 14v634000.
In may i received the recall notice for the brake booster (p14 nhtsa 14v-154) and have called my local dealer several times since then to schedule the replacement. however, the dealer says they do not have the part and are expecting the part to arrive any day. in september, i received the sun visor wiring recall notice (p36 nhtsa 14v-391) and have called the local jeep dealer regarding scheduling this replacement also. the dealer reports that they do not have the parts for this either and do not know when the parts will be available. this is an unreasonable amount of time to wait for the dealer to resolve the defects, and i feel my safety is at risk. *tr
I have received a safety recall notice regarding the sun visor wiring, #p36 nhtsa 14v-391. i contacted my dealer where i purchased the vehicle. as per the safety recall instructions listed beside "what you must do to ensure your safety", i called the dealer to schedule a service appointment and asked the dealer to hold or order the parts for my vehicle before my appointment. the dealer did not schedule an appointment and said that they didn't have the parts. i was informed that i would be put on a list and would be called when i'm next. i was told that chrysler is only sending the dealer two replacement parts per week as it is a restricted part. i explained what the recall notice said they were to do and he said this is how chrysler is doing this. i'm upset that i receive a safety recall about a possible electrical fire and chrysler feels it isn't important enough to quickly repair it. i feel they should order the part and schedule my appointment just as stated in the recall notice. i would appreciate your investigating this and letting me know the outcome. thank you so much for your assistance. *tr

Received 2nd notice of recall for sun visor wiring -p36/nhtsa 14v-391 contacted the jeep dealership 3 times and each time they stated i'm on "the list" to be called when the parts come in. according to my last conversation with them, they stated "there is no list"! why am i getting two different stories and why am i wasting my time? dealership does not know how to treat their customers or are not correctly informed as to the guidelines of how to process recalls. i'm beginning to rethink my next purchase! *tr
