Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v643000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.

Merging vehicle into highway traffic when electronic instrument console went blank, losing power. instrument panel then lit back up and all warning signals (check engine, battery etc.) were illuminated. engine continued running, but very slowly (as if stuck in 1st gear). when able to safely exit the highway and pull off roadway, was unable to shift car out of drive into park. it appeared all the electronic controls were not working. because this car has a push button ignition (and a fob, rather than a key), the push button ignition could not be turned off, because the car was not in park. i had to remain at the wheel with the brake on to prevent the car from moving. i was unsuccessful at contacting jeep technical assistance to try to identify how to cut power to the engine. ultimately, after holding in the ignition button for a prolonged period of time, the power returned and i was able to put car in park. please note, recall notice 13v-483 had been repaired on this vehicle prior to this event.

My jeep was experiencing intermittent electrical issues similar to those many have already complained about. the dashboard lights would shut off or illuminate, etc. the one day it just would not start. we got it jumped and took it to an auto parts store where i was told that the alternator was not charging the battery at the appropriate voltage and to take it to the dealer. i took it to the dealer who inspected it and ended up fixing the alternator under an open recall. less than 1 week later, the jeep would not start again. after getting another jump start and taking it back to the dealer, i was told that nothing was wrong with it. after my insistence they kept it overnight and sure enough that next day the car would not start. they then told me it was not the battery or the alternator but replaced the battery anyway, charged me $212 as i am just over the warranty period and sent me on my way. 4 days later, my jeep car would not start again. i was able to jump start the car, but it would die when i put it in drive. roadside assistance tested it for me and again told me that the alternator is not charging the battery to the correct level. i then had to have it towed back to dealer. it's at the dealer now. for the last two days i was told that they don't know what is wrong with it, then they replaced the alternator again and it still had the same problem. they are now looking at the wiring and want to charge me for it and they claim it isn't related (although they don't even know if this is really the issue). it all seems very related to me. during the month of august, my jeep has been at the dealer for 9 days so far with no resolution.

the problem(s) that i have had or currently have with my vehicle are as follows: 1. july 8, 2015: (mileage 12,453) car dash lights were lighting up and then the engine died later in the middle of the road. finally the car started up however the transmission would not shift and i drove it home in low gear. on july 9, 2015, i took the car into campbell chrysler service department in centralia washington (see service slip) and it was returned to me on july 13, 2015. 2. july 15, 2015: again, the car dash lights were lit up and the car was stuck in low gear. i turned the car into to campbell chrysler service department (see service slip) on july 16, 2015. the car was returned to me on august 18, 2015. 3. august 24, 2015: again the car dash lights were lit up and the car stuck in low gear and the motor was surging. i took the car back to campbell chrysler service department on august 25, 2015. the car was returned on august 28, 2015. 4. august 31, 2015: i drove to seattle and again the check engine light came on and the shifter lights would flash and speedometer numbers would go from large font to small font. when dash lights and warning lights plus different characters flashed then the engine would surge. currently, the car was brought back to campbell chrysler service department on september 16, 2015 because all the warning lights came on, again. this vehicle has become a safety hazard for my family. im not comfortable driving the car and concerned for my safety as well as my families. the first time the car stalled on me it happened at a stop sign on a two way highway. the engine surging is also a safety issue. i have been with-out my car over 43 plus days and have been greatly inconvenienced.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while parked, the ignition would not turn over. the failure recurred on one other occasion. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cpu electronic system needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

On july 16, 2015, with about 5,000 miles, the electrical system failed and the vehicle was towed to my dealership. on july 21, 2015, we learned that it had lost the key and done nothing to repair it. on july 22, 2015, it was towed to another jeep dealership. on july 23, 2015, we were advised that the problems were caused by a bad battery. on july 25, 2015, when we went to pick it up, it would not start even with a new battery. on july 27, 2015, we were told that another new battery had been installed. on july 28, 2015, we picked up the vehicle but on august 14, 2015, the electrical system again failed and it was again towed to the second dealership. on august 17, 2015, we were advised that the vehicle had been repaired by replacing various electrical components. on september 15, 2015, the electrical system again failed causing the abs and awd systems to rapidly cycle on and off; the transmission to rapidly shift through both forward and reverse gears; and for the vehicle to lurch forward and backward. a third jeep dealership refused to service it because of its history. on september 17, 2015, the vehicle was again towed to the second dealership. it had only 5757 miles on the odometer. on september 24, 2015, we were told that the dealership thought the problem might be with a crash sensor and proposed that the sensor be disabled. on september 25, 2015, after we objected to disabling a safety sensor, we were told that sensors had been ordered for the adaptive cruise and speed controls, but as of today, the dealership has not repaired the vehicle and is uncertain whether it can repair it. the vehicle has been at a dealership 25 out of the past 72 days. the dealership has not repaired the vehicle; will not say that it can be repaired; and will not say that it will be safe to operate. jeep refuses to help. we don't want to die in this vehicle. please help us.

I was driving down the road today and my turns signals got stuck on again! this isn't the first time this has happened and this is not the first complaint i have filed. i have had my 2014 jeep grand cherokee back to the dealership service department four times for this same issue. i have been told all four times that they cannot duplicate the problem. i have two videos of my turn signals getting stuck on and my dash flashing and reading the incorrect speed but the service department continues to tell me that they cannot duplicate it. well, today there was almost an accident because of it. my turn signals got stuck on and another car pulled out in front of me and i almost hit them, they obviously thought i was turning, which i was not but yet again my turn signals were stuck on. fca is fully aware of this issue. i have called them numerous times but they have no solution for me. i feel completely unsafe in my jeep grand cherokee and it is just an accident waiting to happen.

The air conditioner blows hot air in the summer and cold air in the winter. also, the power locks do not work at times on the driver side door.

I was driving home from work on 7/5/15 and my dash started flashing. it was reading the incorrect speed and mileage and i could not get it to stop. i have contacted my jeep dealer service department and fca about this. this is not the first time this has happened. i have been complaining about the speedometer, odometer and the dash flashing since august 2014 but everytime i have taken it in for service i have been told that they cannot duplicate the problem. well this time i took a video of it happening. my speedometer would read my traveling 30mph then all the way down to 20mph and then all the way up to 40mph all in my 22 second video! i have no idea how fast i was really going and the flashing is very disstracting to try and drive and pay attention to the road. i have told fca for almost a year now that i do not feel my jeep grand cherokee is safe and i continue to have more and more electrical problems with it even after the recalls were completed and i have yet to hear anything from them. i called and complained so much to them that they asked me to stop calling.

Vehicle shut off during running.

I was driving to work today and all of a sudden i smelled a burning smell in the front of my car and all the lights lit up on my dash and my digital speedometer started going up and down in speed but i was not going any faster or slower. this is not the first time i have smelled something burning in my jeep. i had it in for service on 5/515 and it was there until 6/8/15 for these same kind of problems. all my dealership keeps doing is flashing the software and telling me it is fixed. i no longer feel safe driving my jeep grand cherokee. i have had so many electrical problems that are not getting fixed. my transmission takes so long to shift gears and sometimes gets stuck in neutral while i am driving, my tires constantly feel like they are slipping and i do not feel like i have complete control of the vehicle because of it. i have a six year old child that rides in my jeep everyday and i do not feel safe putting them in it. i have tried to call fca and they refuse to talk to me or help me with a resolution to these problems. i just want to feel safe when i am driving and also to feel safe putting my child in my vehicle and at this point i do not feel safe in my grand cherokee anymore and it is a shame.

I was driving to work on june 9,2015 and i used my turn signal to switch lanes and all of a sudden they would not turn off! the turn signals were flashing back and forth between left and right the entire way to work. i got to the parking lot and i turned my jeep grand cherokee off and i went into work for my 16 hour shift thinkning they would go off by the time i was done working but i was wrong, they were still flashing when i started my jeep again! they blinked for about half my 45 minute drive home and then they just turned off. the next day i took my jeep to my local dealer and showed them the video i took while i was sitting in the parking lot of them flashing and told them i wanted it fixed because it is a safety hazard and i put my child in this vehicle everyday and having these kind of electrical problems were unsafe. well they called today 6/18/15 and said they cannot duplicate the problem so they cannot fix it! even though i have a video as proof! i am afraid to pick up my jeep. i feel it is unsafe for the road and unsafe to put my child in but they could really care less and said i have to pick it up. i am not looking forward to picking it up because it has become such a safety hazard but my local jeep dealer will not fix it even though it is still under manufacturer warranty. updated 8/21/15*cn updated 10/25/2017*cn

My 2014 jeep grand cherokee has been at beaver county dodge chrysler jeep since 5/5/2015. it was taken in for stalling issue, odometer adding excess miles, touch screen radio going black, seat belts that do not tighten and other various recalls. my jeep has not left their parking lot since 5/8/2015 i called today 5/22/2015 and it is still not finished they stated. i have paid an entire month on my lease and i have not driven my vehicle. the service department has not made one attempt to fix my jeep and i am not sure when i will ever get it back at this point. the dealership and fca have been giving me the run around since august 2014 about fixing these problems that they state simply cannot be fixed at this time? i have been having these problems for 9 months now and the dealership and fca keep telling me that they have no resolution to my problems.

The navigation system goes blank mid trip screen goes on and off and switches to other media. the transmission clicks from switching from park to drive or reverse. the truck makes a weird vibration noise it sounds coarse and feels weird after 20mph. all these problems have been happening since i took the jeep out the dealership. i always bring it back to the dealer they say they fix it and i always bring it right back with the same exact problems. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that there was a random failure with the instrument cluster warning indicators flickering without warning. the radio and vent controls failed to work for heat and air conditioning, the heated seats had issues, and the steering wheel became extremely hot. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and they were not able to provide a remedy. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

Info only brought vehicle in for oil change and safety recall p60/nhtsa 14v-634 was also done. replacing alternator to prevent failure, loss of power, short ....resulting in vehicle shutdown. had to tow vehicle to dealer because what the recall was to prevent actually happened after the recall repair. alternator burned up eventually causing loss of power to vehicle, fortunately vehicle was parked and could not be started without charging battery. vehicle towed to dealer and they again replaced the alternator. my concern is chrysler's fix does not fix the problem as it occurred after the recall repair was done. i will assume this was an isolated incident and the dealer accomplished the repair to my satisfaction. i do want you to have this information in a data base should more vehicles continue to fail in the same mode after the recall repair was made. *tr

Twice this has occurred in which i parked the vehicle, shifted it into park, left the vehicle the and it rolled away. first time i was alone at a hotel parking lot, ran in inside and came out and the vehicle was gone. it had rolled away about 150 ft, but sustained no damage or injuries. the 2nd time, i was at a gas station, put the jeep in park, jumped out and my family was with and the vehicle started to roll away, but i was able to jump in and place the vehicle in park a 2nd time. thought it was just me until i seen previous complaints for the same issue with the electronic shifters.

Hvac system not working correctly; system cycles off/on rapidly and unable to maintain desire internal temperature of jeep. has been taken to jeep dealer twice in 3 weeks without having situation fixed. jeep service manager states "we know of issue, have no repair at this time, but not considered an official problem by chrysler at this time". i am left with a brand new jeep that has a malfunctioning a/c and heater which can't be repaired and will not be replaced by dealer. i am in a very difficult position, please help. *tr

Drove one block from home and the battery voltage spiked to 17v. warning sounds and messages posted on the odometer. parking assist off; acc unavailable-service required; wipers activated even though turned off; transmission locked in d; radio screen blacked out/came back on; message read to stop, press the brake, turn engine off then place in park. red battery icon, anti skid icon, engine icon lit on odometer plus warning sounds non stop. took directly to the dealer where the tech tried to get a reading on all of the trouble icons. nothing was posting on their equipment. it was decided the vehicle may need the alternator replaced. was told to continue driving and if this happens again to turn the engine off and restart the vehicle and keep driving. *tr

The entire stereo screen all of the sudden "blacked out" not allowing any controls to work. every 20 seconds the blacked out screen goes blue with a message to "please insert update usb". the bill luke dealership states that this is not covered under the warranty and no recalls on this. however, states this problem is common requiring the entire head/stereo unit to be replaced. recall #p6/nhtsa 14v-634 states that depending on the alternator failure mode and timing that the esc (electronic stability control) or ecm (electronic control module) can be disabled. even though there are not other issues with this jeep at this time, who is to say that this recall is not affecting the stereo/head unit? it is a possibility. i should not have to pay to replace a stereo/head unit in a new 2014 vehicle that stopped working by a defect that is no fault of mine. *tr

Sunroof has failed 6 times and is now ready for it's 7th repair. the sunroof's automatic functions stop working so when it fails you have to push the close button repeatedly while the sunroof moves maybe 1/4" on each depression of the button. the dealer replaced the motor once and for the other 4 times i was told it needed to be calibrated. the last sunroof failure they went in and went through all of the electrical connectors and said they found some electrical wiring problems and fixed them. the sunroof failed again 2 weeks later. the airbag warning light, due to another electrical connector issue. the electronics in the vehicle malfunctions regularly which affect the radio controls, navigation, central locking, phone, and i get random erroneous errors on the dash display. the radio/navigation units have been replaced. the navigation screen locks up but the voice will continue to give you verbal instructions. if you manually lock the vehicle and start walking away the horn will beep twice and the vehicle will unlock like the keys have been locked in the car, even though they are in your hand. i was told you cannot use the lock buttons on your door to lock the vehicle. when you walk up to the car and grab the door handle to unlock the car it fails, and you have to grab the door handle all over repeatedly to get it to unlock. the dash display will give false messages while driving like already in desired gear and no one has touched the shifter. the voice will come on randomly and ask you what number you want to call, again no buttons nor the display have been touched. error on display memory system, the programmed seat switches were replaced. transmission issue, the module was replaced. rear hatch failure, finally switch was replaced. rear tail light lens replaced as it was full of water. check engine light, faulty oil pressure switch. engine vibration, bad ac comp.
