We have classified the 340 complaints from 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Vehicle engine light came on - rear windshield wiper started even though switch was off, power steering failed and engine shutoff while driving on city street, horn beeping intermittently whether driving or not. several messages displayed for about 2 seconds -ecm lost communication and other msgs i couldn't get because they only flashed on the screen. keyfob battery low even though i just put in a new battery.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving various speeds, the service shifter warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to stockton dodge chrysler jeep ram (located at 3333 auto center cir, stockton, ca 95212, (209) 956-1920) to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, while driving on the freeway, all the warning indicators on the instrument panel intermittently illuminated. the vehicle was taken to lodi chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 1255 beckman rd, lidi, ca 95240, (209) 263-3999) where thirteen codes were found, but not a failure code. all thirteen codes were reset. the vehicle was not repaired. also, while driving, the vehicle stalled, the check engine warning indicator illuminated, and the windshield wipers operated independently. the vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road and was towed back to lodi chrysler dodge jeep ram. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
This incident regards the t-36 recall issued by fiat/chrysler, which involves 2012-2014 jeep grand cherokees (among others), and "affects vehicles equipped with electro-hydraulic power steering systems, 5.7l or 3.6l engines, and 160, 180, or 220 amp alternators. in those vehicles, nhtsa says that the alternator may fail without warning." during june 2018, my 2014 jeep grand cherokee (summit trim), experienced sudden alternator failure while in motion on a highway. the alternator started to smoke, and by the time i had reached my destination, there was grey smoke barreling out of the hood of my car and the battery was completely dead. the jeep had to be towed to a nearby dealership for repairs. in addition to the alternator and battery replacment, the tensioner, idler and serpentine belt had to be replaced due to undue strain placed on them by the alternator failure. the incident that occurred matches the description of the t-36 recall. additionally, the year, make, engine size, and amperage of the alternator all match the description given in the t-36 recall. however, the vin number for my particular jeep did not appear under the recall, and therefore, jeep/chrysler would not repair my jeep under that particular recall. they did fix the jeep, but at my cost (the owner). i 100% believe this an oversight by jeep/chrysler (or maybe nhtsa) and should be remedied immediately. i do believe there are other jeep owners that are unaware of this issue, due to the lack of notification by jeep/chrysler, and will experience the same issue, which could cause an accident and lead to injury. please review the details of my jeep vin and why it was not included in the t-36 recall. if this happened to my jeep, then i imagine it will happen to others. fortunately, i was not injured, but others could be injured who are unaware of this issue. please contact me with any questions. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 20 mph, the battery saving mode warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the contact noticed a burning odor and saw smoke under the hood of the vehicle. a dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 34480485. the approximate failure mileage was 23,000. *tt alternator failed-smoke and burned wire updated 9/26/18*jb
I keep getting a message that states the 911 system needs maintenance. shortly after i started getting that message, when starting my jeep my screen will stay blank for about 3-5 minutes before coming on. when it is blank the vehicle will switch between air conditioning and heat, high fan and low fan speed. when the screen is blank i am unable to do anything.....even using the buttons below the screen do not work.
The alternator light came on in the vehicle while driving, then within about 10-15 minutes the radio had no sound although the screen was still lit. other lights then came on such as the engine light, anti-lock brakes. about 5 minutes later, i had to stop at a stop sign, when taking off again, the car would barely move. it wouldn't go above about 10-15 miles per hour, then it picked up speed but i no longer had power steering. as i pull into a parking lot to get the car off of the road, the wipers turned on (even though the switch was off). when i got into the parking spot, the car could not be put into park due to the power issues. i had to hold my foot on the brake until the engine died. within 2-3 minutes the engine died. everything was dead, including the power locks. then a few minutes later the dash would light saying the ignition or accessory unit was turned on but you couldn't do anything to turn it off. everything would then turn off again. after sitting for about 30-45 min, the car would start back up but it was not driven anywhere, we had it towed. both the alternator and battery needed to be replaced which is what caused the issues. the alternator is under a recall for my model/year/engine type but not for my vin. the recall was due to very similar issues, loss of steering control, loss of power.
Radio does not come on when car starts. the air conditioning will also not turn on at times when this is happening. the dash has also been effected at times, not lighting up. the radio has come on while driving. the car can be driven but no features from the radio panel.
Driving on bridge, preparing to turn right on the i 15 highway in barstow all lights flashing on info panel . jeep began to power surge up and down windshield wiper came on radio went off, power steering became hard to control no brakes, came to rolling stop at chevron gas lot lenwood road . jeep did not restart . dead ! very scary and dangerous situation. could have had a serious accident with a commercial truck. truck honked at me because i cut him off trying to get to a safe stoping location. my wife was with me and she believed we were going to die she said. i'm go inn to get rid of this jeep. i no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.. my wife just read on the internet there are 12 recalls on the 2014 jeep grand cherokee.
Mfg 4/1/2013, replaced bcm / 4/27/2016 after engine would not turn off. several months later engine would not turn off. replaced trans valve. on 5/3/2018 the bcm short circuited and alternator burned while vehicle was parked leaving strong smoke and burnt smell in cabin. vehicle has 56,000 miles and has had bcm replaced twice in 23 months. no diagnoses availed as to why vehicle will not shut off on occasion. all routine maintenance and recalls are current. *tr
My headlights are not working. also the electronic board for my radio, climate control, etc. goes on and off. after some research i found hat he nonfunctional headlights are a recurring problem for many owners of 2014 jeep grand cherokees.
Dashboard cluster, and tail lights flickers on and off while in locked or unlocked mode and with vehicle turned off, and stationary. with or without the fob key near, and the car does this until battery dies. it has been at the dealer 3 times, new battery still the same issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 30 mph, the instrument panel failed to illuminate. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not contacted or made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
Vehicle does not reliably start when the brake and engine button are pushed. the dashboard lights up, but there is no message and vehicle fails to start. i often have to try 3-4 times to get the vehicle to start, ultimately having the key at the push start button. key fob batteries have been replaced several times, star case was opened, and win module replaced. vehicle has been in for service many times for this issue, which remains. chrysler case management is well aware of the issue. the only "possible" connection found is an incompatibility with cup led lighting and key fob technology. in addition to being frustrating, it is a safety issue.
In 2018, the a/c first went out and we went to mopar to have it assessed. we were told it was not a "charging" problem but electrical and need the dealer. a few weeks later, without any intervention the a/c came back on. in june 2019, the a/c went out again and the dealer said "faulty tipm" and the repair with diagnostics would be close to $900. how does a 4 year old car with less than 50k miles incur a brain failure?! i guess it could happen but researching the topic i see jeep has a long history of faulty tipms with only 1 recall. why does nhtsa allow jeep to rip off customers? it seems clear that jeep has a consistent history of installing faulty tipms so they can reap $1,000 repairs. you cannot see the a/c not producing cold air so i will skip uploading a picture.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. ed voyle chrysler dodge jeep ram in marietta, ga was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact had not experienced a failure.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 70 mph, the tachometer, rpm, speedometer, water temperature, tire pressure, electronic stability control, gear shifter, seat belt, and anti-skid warning indicators illuminated. also, the windshield wipers independently activated. while accelerating from a stop, the gear shifter failed to shift out of gear. the vehicle was towed to rairdon's chrysler dodge jeep ram of kirkland (12828 ne 124th st, kirkland, wa 98034), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v483000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, electronic stability control). the manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in a recall and referred him to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 15,000. *dt *tt consumer stated: i have now been driving the jeep for four months since the bcm was replaced. within the first month since the bcm replacement, there were two instances where, during a left-hand turn, the instrument cluster dropped out momentarily (blinked) with a coincident fault warning chime. but in both instances, all systems immediately recovered and there have been no other instances, regardless of driving conditions, for the past three months. updated 10/5/18*jb
When driving the vehicle, a "service shifter" error is shown on the digital information screen on the dashboard, behind the steering wheel. when the error is thrown, other (most all) lights on the dashboard (mil and others like traction control, emergency brake, et cetera) are illuminated and there is a chime sound. the lights that illuminate the shifter will pulsate. when this occurs, sometimes it feels like the vehicle has a loss of power. the vehicle must be restarted before it resumes normal operation. this has occurred repeatedly, even after being serviced by a chrysler dealership for this issue. the has occurred during while driving at all speeds, while going straight and turning. the first occurrence was in november 2017, and most recently march 2018.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle made a squealing and whining noise and there was a burning odor underneath the hood. while driving approximately 35 mph, the abs, power steering, and brake warning indicators illuminated. also, the windshield wipers and other components began to malfunction. the contact parked and turned off the vehicle, but it failed to restart. the contact replaced the battery, which caused the vehicle to operate appropriately for a short period of time before the warning indicators illuminated again. the contact checked under the hood and noticed smoke coming from the alternator. the contact stated the alternator and battery failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact called cary autopark chrysler jeep (400 auto park blvd, cary, north carolina 27511, 888-923-9538) and was informed that the alternator and brakes failed. the dealer would not assist because the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 47,800.
Thursday afternoon, there was a faint sound of a belt whirring or similar, but no change to driving. gabriel noted a weird smell when we parked at home, but i didn't smell it. i drove to a meeting and noticed the sound again, but no lights on or change to driving. friday morning, i drove to school and the battery light came on, but no other changes. friday afternoon i drove from school at 1:20 to hwy 12 and mission on my way home. within a few blocks the battery light came on and a notice to go to battery save mode came on. by middle rincon, i started to smell something, but no change otherwise. at that light, another driver waved me down and we pulled into valero. he helped me lift the hood, which had billowing smoke by then coming out, and he said it looked like the alternator, but did not see fire. i then called lithia and then aaa to get a tow to lithia, because i was concerned about driving it any further. i was charged $5 for the extra .2 miles of the 5.2 miles it took me to get towed. i remembered that when i got my oil change in late dec-early jan, bob told me there was a recall on the alternator, but there was no part or solution available yet. i did not receive a recall letter, but researched today that people received it in july 2017. my dealership insists on going through my extended warranty and a $200 deductible and did not give me a car for the days it's been there so far. i have filed a complaint with the company's recall department.
My jeep as the t36 alternator recall. my vehicle recently was affected by this recall and it's extremely dangerous. my enter vehicle powered off and that left me with no power steering or much control of the vehicle while traveling down the road.. when i was able to get to a safe location i found my alternator smoking heavy and my car was completely dead. i took the jeep to the dealership and the only current fix is to replace the alternator with the same faulty design that failed in the first place. this is extremely dangerous if this would have failed at a higher rate of speed or in any daily driving situation. i cannot believe chrysler is getting away with this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle was slow to pick up speed when the accelerator pedal was depressed. also, the vehicle was difficult to start. the battery was inspected by the contact and the driver, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (michiana chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat, 120 w mckinley ave, mishawaka, in 46545, (574) 254-2010) where it was diagnosed that the abs module prematurely melted and needed to be replaced. the dealer was unable to verify the cause of the failure and indicated that further diagnostic testing was required. the manufacturer issued three recalls on the brakes and five recalls for the electrical system. the failure was reported to the manufacturer to determine if they could determine the cause of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.
Copy of a letter to chrysler chairman and chief executive office sergio marchionne regarding safety concerns about a 2014 jeep overland. *ld the consumer stated the there was no repair available for the safety recall. the consumer stated while driving a battery icon illuminated on the instrument panel. the dealer advised the alternator failed as per the recall. *js
After the 3rd periodical maintenance performed at 59.793 km on nov.2017 the 28th,the vehicle in standstill with the gear engaged switched suddenly off (ecoand drive mode on).pressing the starting button, it restarted and remained ok for a long, but without any alert the switching off happened again and again. sometimes a cranking lead to fail the ignition.once the shutdown happened also with the vehicle running, not in standstill, with an high risk of accident.so the vhl went to workshop again in dec2017, feb2018 and mar2018 and the results of the workshops (different in these months) was always not trouble found.the problem of turning off in standstill, usually happens at the time of departure at the traffic light, in drive (gear 1),but it happened also in parking mode, with not cold engine and on cluster is reported"low oil pressure" (oil change less than a month ago). i point out that the vehicle is used in the style of mixed driving, every day traveling in the city but also runs daily routes on the highway so i assume that the regeneration of fap takes place correctly. the use of the vehicle is not heavy. the vehicle is always recovered at night in the boxg (the temperature does not fall below 0 degrees) and therefore is not exposed to extreme weather conditions. please check that there are no recall actions that have not been carried out in consideration of the persistence of the anomaly, i request that the workshop be supported by a second technical level to allow the resolution of the problem and avoid the replacement of unnecessary parts
I have owned 5 jeep cherokees and this has to be a lemon.i purchases it new. i have had many many recalls, most major. recently i heard water splashing under the passenger seat, which resulted in water coming into the passenger side flooding the carpet. i was told that the box holding the battery was where the water was located. they have been working on it for two days and can not find where the water is entering. now they are preparing to remove the trim for a possible location. they checked with my extended warranty company and they said this was not covered. i am afraid this issue will cause a fire in the vehicle since the water is entering the electrical system. i was told no recall from chrysler addresses this major issue with jeeps, even though is is common. i am afraid to look at my bill if they ever find the leak. we have been having major rain here in georgia this year and it is not used very much, so it was stationary when this happened. i was told this was a very difficult task to find where the water was entering the vehicle, and they had many jeep vehicles with similar issues. i have no idea when i can get my vehicle back. i cannot upload photos as they have the vehicle.

Chrysler (fca us llc) recall t36 / nhtsa 17v-435 incident summary on 2018-01-21, my 2104 jeep grand cherokee stalled while traveling at approximately 65mph. a crash was avoided, but the situation was highly dangerous to passengers and other drivers on the road. this incident exhibited all the symptoms and warnings from chrysler (fca us llc) recall t36 / nhtsa 17v-435. (summarized below) the vehicle lost power and stalled while driving on the highway. just prior to the stall, warnings briefly flashed in the instrument control panel. warnings included; battery saver mode, abs system failure, suspension failure. all electronics in the vehicle exhibited bizarre behavior and could not be controlled. additionally the speedometer continually recycled and the wipers turned on with no intervention. complete loss of power steering and braking occurred. after the stall completed and the vehicle was stopped, a loud high-pitched ticking noise came from the engine compartment. additionally, a pungent burning smell and smoke came from the engine compartment. the vehicle was completely disabled and unresponsive and was towed to a jeep dealership on 2018-01-21. a claim was filled with fca us llc recall department on 2018-01-23. as of 2018-01-26, the dealer is still waiting for fca us llc recall department to respond. as of 2018-01-26, the parts are still not yet available for this recall. t36 / nhtsa 17v-435 recall summary 'the alternator on your vehicle may experience diode thermal fatigue failure due to cyclical loads induced by ehps. when the diodes fail, the alternator will no longer supply electrical energy to the vehicle and may lead to a vehicle stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. failed diodes may also develop a resistive short circuit that can result in heat, smoke and/or fire originating within the alternator.'
I had reached into the storage and outlet trey in the center counsel while going down the highway. my jacket sleeve apparently hit the gear shift and bumped it into neutral. when i realize what was happening i had to apply the brake and push the button on the gear shifter to return it to drive. i reach in this storage tray many time a day and have had this happen before, just not going 70 mph on a highway. if this stick is highly programmable, why can it not be programed to require me to push the gear shift button to change from drive to neutral?? this is dangerous and distracting when driving. their is not much room for your arm to reach over the shifter to retrieve items in the trey.
Recall on jeep alternator and brake booster water shield. my complaint is the length of time in getting the parts. the alternator went out and it has been sitting at the dealership for 11 days now and parts are still not released from chrysler. they will not give me a rental. what is a person to do? except pay 800$ and then fight chrysler to get my money back.
The total integrated power module has begun to fail resulting in delayed or no engine turnover when ignition button is pushed while parked (although remote start on key fob works fine, battery is fine and starter is fine), driver seat moving on its own while driving on highway, headlights failing at night while driving on suburban streets, etc.
The vehicle stalled while crossing into a four lane highway.the vehicle would not re-start for over a minute all while disabled in oncoming traffic. the check engine line came on, the cluster display showed numerous warnings including service throttle control.

On december 24, 2017 my alternator short circuited and my alternator caught on fire. my car was doing nothing out of the ordinary by delivering christmas gifts to family and friends within a two mile radius. initially when i started the car, it sounded a little out of the ordinary, but no signs of having an issue. i drove less than a mile, and it started to have an electrical burning smell. i parked my car and turned it off, and when i started the car again, the car had a humming sound, and the battery light came on. i drove ten feet and there was smoke everywhere in my vehicle. when i opened my hood, my alternator was on fire. i parked the car, and never drove it after that. i had to have my car towed to kona auto center at my own expense. kona auto center was not helpful, and did not have a replacement part for the alternator. they told me to go and buy one, but if something happens then it would be my fault. they gave me the run around, and i ended up being more frustrated because they would not give me loaner, and kept trying to upsell me to another vehicle. the repair to my car was not a concern of theirs, and they could not give me a window of repair time. being a single mother, and a manager for my company, i do not have time to waste. i ended up trading my jeep in, and nothing was resolved.
safety defect/non compliance description and safety risk the alternator may experience diode thermal fatigue failure due to cyclical loads induced by electro-hydraulic power steering. failed diodes may also develop a resistive short circuit that can result in heat, smoke and/or fire originating within the alternator. repair description the alternator part number must be inspected on all involved vehicles. vehicles found with the suspect alternator will have it replaced with a new alternator containing improved diodes on all affected vehicles. recall status incomplete but repair parts are not available get notified when parts are available on december 19, 2017 we experienced once again another problem. after my son's youth basketball game, we went to the parking lot to head a couple of blocks home at approximately 8:15 pm. turning out onto the roadway, the dashboard lit up with warning light stating that the battery was low and the electronic power steering started howling. i shut down as much of the infotainment center as possible to conserve power to make sure that i made it home. the front windshield started to fog up so i turned the defroster on low. as soon as the air started coming out, i could smell an electrical fire. upon my arrival home, i popped open the hood and could smell electrical burn. i decided to shut the vehicle off and research recalls and technical service bulletins. i believe this new issue falls under recall t75.
Recall t36 from june 09, 2017 still not repairable due to lack of parts. it is now november. i cannot believe such a hazardous issue can be allowed to be unresolved for this long. https://www.chrysler.com/universal/webselfservice/pdf/t36.pdf
I was driving down the street at about 35 mph when the battery icon flashed on. the air conditioner and the radio cutoff following the display of the battery icon. a few seconds later the power steering went out along with a loss of power. a message displayed on the dashboard telling me to pull over immediately along with a service trans brake message and a few others that i can't recall. i tried to get to a safe location but the vehicle shifted into park and completely turned off when i was going less than 5 mph. causing the vehicle to be stranded in the middle of the road with traffic trying to get by. i slowed down because there were vehicles in front of me making turns. this is the third time this has happened. towed vehicle to dealership and they said the alternator burned up. the battery is damaged as well. this sounds similar to the two recalls named "alternator may fail resulting in engine stall". notified the dealership and jeep customer care about this and they informed me that they can fix this recall because my vin is not part of the recall. vehicle is out of warranty so they say the repairs will come out of my pocket. after the first time this happened about a year ago i refuse to drive the vehicle on the highway because of the sudden shutoff and loss of steering. i feel this could cause an accident and i refuse to take that risk.
Jeep failed to start for weeks without a jump start. replaced battery twice and alternator once; third battery replacement during 11.15.2017 repairs. total integrated power module (tipm) found to be faulty. safety issues are a major concern, as the tipm is critical for the safe operation of the vehicle.
While driving the jeep, the alternator shorted and stalled the car. all power was lost to the engine steering and lights just as i was crossing a very busy intersection. i was able to roll through the intersection where the car died in the middle of the road. alternator began to smoke heavily. complicating matters, the car has a fully electronic shifting mechanism preventing me from putting the car in neutral and pushing it off the road. it sat in the middle of a road until a tow truck arrived.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning within less than 60 days of owning the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to two different dealers (bayside chrysler jeep dodge, 21219 northern blvd, queens, ny 11361, (718) 229-8700) and (major world chrysler dodge jeep ram, 43-40 northern blvd, long island city, ny 11101, 1-(866) 614-2884). one dealer indicated that the failure was not a safety issue. the other dealer stated that they were unable to provide a solution to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available. *tt *tr
Fuel delivery system (notably tank filler and related emissions equipment) poorly designed to fail just after california 50k mileage warranty. dealer wants $800 to fix a problem the mfg. designed. alternator recall-with no related parts to repair-driving and waiting for the vehicle to erupt into a ball of fire is unacceptable. what components are being installed on 2018 models? why can't those parts be installed on my 2014? i am being prejudiced against, as i cannot legally (thanks to ab 217) trade the vehicle in, as no dealer can resell it with an open safety recall!! i need to get another car-but i can't!!!!
Fca and nhtsa have issued a recall notice that explains that the alternator may fail, resulting in stalling or possibly fire. it has been said that replacement of the alternator is necessary in affected vehicles. this won't take place until 2018 because of parts availability. this is totally unacceptable. the tens, or possibly hundreds of thousands of these vehicles will pose an enormous safety risk for occupants of these vehicles, and other vehicles sharing the road with them. this recall repair needs to be expedited in a much more timely manner. fca needs to be made aware of the risks their customers are being exposed to because of the delay in making this repair. i received notice from fca on 7-14-2017, and nhtsa on 10-3-2017.
While i was driving down the road the car completely shut down. all power shut off on car. car could not be put in nuetral to move off road. car would not restart. tow company and chrysler dealership said it was an alternator problem.
Driver seatbelt does not retract to tighten on driver while driving or stationary. serious safety issue! additionally, none of the controls on the right side of the steering wheel work ever; cruise control, park assist, lane departure warning, etc.
On 9-08-2017, my wife and i were returning to pfafftown, nc from garden city, sc. a few miles into the drive i thought i heard a high pitched sound, but could not locate it. then we thought we smelled something hot, but thought is was an old truck ahead of us, but a few miles later i got a low voltage sign and told my wife to car the nearest jeep dealership as we had entered conway, sc. having some basic engine knowledge i knew the alternator wasn't charging the battery and that i would lose all power. luckily for us the dealership was less than 1.5 miles and i was able to drive to it. when i opened the hood i found the alternator smoking and almost hot enough to catch fire due to overcharging. luckily the dealership was able to replace the alternator and we were on our was home in about an hour, but with a $806.00 cost for the repair. the vehicle had 74109 miles on the odometer. when i got home my mechanic told me that there was a recall on 2014 jeep grand cherokees for exactly what happen to mine. i checked this website and fiat/ chrysler and found my vin was not included. i also talked to a nice chrysler representative over the phone. she also said that it was not included. it just seems to me that my vehicle, which is the same make, model and year as those under recall, and had the exact problem addressed by the recall should be covered by the recall. and note that the vehicle was close to losing all electrical power, which affects the steering and transmission on these vehicles and i could have lost control.

I received an over the air update for my vehicle, which i began to install. the installation failed, and the next time i got in my car many things were wrong, some of which are a major safety concern to me. when i place the car in reverse the backup camera should come up and the mirrors automatically redirect downwards. since attempting to install this update, sometimes these things don't happen at all, or have a long delay (others it works as it should). other times, the backup camera and mirrors will stay on as if i am still in reverse well after i begin driving the vehicle, which makes it impossible for me to use the side mirrors and is very distracting and dizzying seeing the backup camera while driving. additionally, the gps has been impacted and often has me on a different road and announces a speed limit incorrectly. i can not find a way to stop the voice from announcing the speed limit while i'm driving. in addition, my bluetooth, presets and usb connection all stopped working. again, all of this was working 100% until this update that was sent to my car. i believe the fact that this update was sent to my car unsolicited and resulted in these issues with the backup camera, mirrors, gps and speed limit confusion are all safety concerns and seem like something that would be worth reviewing for a potential recall. fyi, i did take this to the dealership and was told my only solution was to completely replace the radio and computer at an out of pocket cost of $2,400.
