Warning light of service shifter. dealership states no fix for this
My 2014 diesel grand cherokee has had emissions for the past 3+ years. on 12/9/19 they changed the particulate filter and right after that there was exhaust smells coming through the vents. the dealership attempted to fix this smell in late december and then again in january. they found a cracked valve cover on 1/10/20 and fixed that. i was then driving the car on 1/12/20 and it started on fire and was destroyed. chrysler investigated the crash and determined that it was not a manufacturing problem
Vehicle overheated - manifold / egr had to be replaced due to severe soot build up. engine compartment was smoking and coolant empty when vehicle overheated. vehicle is a fire risk.*dt*jb
While using the navigation i am warned of turns or exits ahead with instructions like: "turn right in 1/2 mile" on multiple occasions i have started appropriate lane changes to follow the verbal instructions when i glanced at the map and found i was actually shown to turn in the opposite direction. there is no consistency in this failure and my jeep dealer stated that unless i demonstrated the problem there was nothing i could do under warranty. as of this date i have suffered one near miss and have had to shut off voice notices to avoid this problem with the resultant need to look at the map and not keep my eyes on the road. i believe this is a software problem and is probably occurring on other jeeps.and may have caused accidents and injuries.
Passenger seat headrest deployed, the vehicle was approaching stop sign upon stopping the headrest deployed and hit my wife in her head. there was no collision involved, the headrest deployed on its own.
(vin corrected from previois report, firstbdigitbwas incoreect)passenger seat headrest deployed while driving, the vehicle was not involved in a collision, the headrest deployed on its own hitting my wife in the backpack her head as well approached a stop sign on local streets.
Driver seat headrest popped off while driving, almost causing an accident. got headache for 2 hours after that. thought, i had a rear collision, the way it felt.
Vehicle overheated and spewed all coolant. several dealer visits, replaced egr, manifold, cylinder heads, hoses, thermostat etc. one occasion fuel was dripping into the engine compartment after repair and the engine compartment was smoking. another occasion the manifold was smoking. it's only a matter of time before one catches fire. these are suvs used to haul families.
My driver's side active headrest deployed without being in an accident and not moving. there are a couple of broken plastic pieces that allow to rest to deploy
Makes buzzing noice, vibration from dash on drivers side. when i go 60 70 or more is starts loud then soft. soft buzz and gradually gets louder. does not do it all the time, but when it does it is annoying
Leather dashboard is bubbling and jeep chrysler is stating i am no longer covered under my limited warranty. extended warranty only covers power-train. the leather on my entire dashboard has started to bubble and i would like jeep to cover this expense. vehicle is only 5 years old and has 65,000 miles.
Vehicle has lost power and fuel mileage after completing the fca approved emissions modification. there is a hazardous dead spot/lag in acceleration from a stop. all driving characteristics have changed drastically even after fca claims nothing would be affected by the aem.
Driver's side headrest deployed for no reason. vehicle sat in driveway over night and when my wife left for work she noticed the active head restraint had deployed.
The active headrest on the driver's side deployed unexpectedly while the car was parked. as i understand it, this is only meant to happen during a collision and is a safety feature of the vehicle. thankfully it did no strike my head during the process.
I have a service shifter light coming on constantly as well as some random radio station changes. it all started after last recall was fixed. i love my jeep but am so frustrated.
Vibration coming from windshield/ wiper area on drivers side when traveling around 65/70 mph. very loud and annoying.
Interior dash and door trim detaching from interior. sharp carbon fiber trim can cause injury to occupant entering and exiting auto.
Service shifter light is on. i pulled up into my driveway and the light popped on.
I recently had the ecodiesel update installed on our 2014 ecodiesel jeep grand cherokee. the statement from the manufacturer is the driving conditions, fuel mileage, and performance will not be impacted due to the ecm update. these are false statements as the updated has greatly impacted our vehicle! fuel mileage as decreased greatly, there is a huge lag in the turbo, and the transmission shifts gears all over the place. the update is unsafe! my wife drives this car with our twin 15 month old boys. the lack in response of the turbo makes it unsafe while driving on the freeway. there is no get up and go, it's difficult to merge into traffic, and nearly impossible to pass. there is no responsivness in the throttle to feel like you have control over the car. we loved this car before the madated update (we live in california, we have to get the update to register the car). no we feel like the car is unsafe to drive with our children in it!
The car is making a humming noise that sounds like wind noise from the windshield on the drivers side . the noise occurs more often at speeds higher than 60 mph but isn't every time. it starts gradually and grows louder. it is distracting and not good for drivers being able to focus on the road.
Our dealership completed epa and carb emissions recall v08 for 3.0l diesel emissions on 20 may 2019. mileage out was 63,819. 200 miles later, we started the vehicle as normal. less than a mile later, as we started to accelerate onto the highway, the check engine light came on and our vehicle's information center displayed two separate diesel exhaust fluid (def) related warnings. the first saying def needed service/contact the dealership, while the second warning said we could not restart the vehicle after driving another 200 miles. we immediately found a safe spot to pull over and called the dealership. the acting service manager advised us that it was safe to drive the vehicle to the dealership as long as there were no obvious performance issues. he said it was probably emission related, that we would be ok if we didn't drive over 200 miles. he said going over 200 miles might abruptly put the vehicle into a "limp mode"! we were 150 miles away from the dealership but the vehicle was otherwise operating normally, so we took the service manager's advice and drove to the dealership. our jeep is an off-road, trail-rated, go anywhere vehicle designed to be used out in the wilderness/national parks as well as on the highway. it is an unacceptable safety hazard for the vehicle's computer to have control over starting because of an emission violation/problem. especially when in a remote location where a reliable vehicle is paramount to safety. moreover, there is significant potential for a serious crash if the vehicle abruptly goes into a "limp mode" either out on the highway or at a stop light. to date, our dealership has not found a solution to the check engine light nor the def warnings. they are keeping our vehicle and working with fiat/chrysler automotive (fca) representatives and engineers on a solution.
Bought the vehicle used from a local used lot. noticed about a week later after it had rained a couple of times that water leaks into vehicles front, driver and passenger side floor boards and also filling up the battery box when it rains or vehicle is washed. have had the windshield sealed and it's still leaking. i believe that it's coming in from "a" pillars down to the rocker panel seam seal. it has caused rust to form on under dash components and under the driver seat. it's causing electrical components to corrode and to act up. also the cel to come on saying that all modules have no contact with the ecm/pcm. the water leaks as it sits or even when driving down the road.
Went through a car wash and 2 minutes later abs and traction control light came on in the dash also service four wheel drive came on with a chime sound i took the vehicle to have code read and stored codes are as follows u041500, u040300 the abs lights and traction control light and service 4 wheel drive light went off a day later was told a possible water got into something and then driedout
The car was rolled away from the drive way when park at night few times already .
Abs and stability light came on while driving 45 mph also the dash says service four wheel drive it all happened at the same time i think it might be part of the abs recall
Driver seat belt stopped retracting. had to pay over $500 for repair. moon roof started leaking, after two trips to the dealership, had to pay $750 to have it replaced.*dt*jb
Service keyless entry. affecting many jeep gc models. i was left stranded.
Seats - drivers seat - seat controls brok away from the seat. seat control trim replaced, seat frame replaced, problem has returned again. radio - screen goes black randomly. radio replaced 2 times and module once these are over various dates an currently an issue again. will select current date
My dashboard out of no where just got bubble and wrinkled..
After the recent recall was completed it's not hard for my car to shift into desired gear. it must have the breaks fully applied in order to go from neutral to drive on city streets if it gets bumped or going through a car wash. it has caused several occasions of the car wash location i go to to shut down because i can't get my car into drive in time. while hooking up a trailer i can not safely back up to it because i can't see, before i had to leave my driver door slightly open to navigate and now it auto shifts into park. this is extremely annoying. the worst part is i paid $600 for a 'back up system' from the manufacturer upon purchase- they only installed sensors and no camera! i complained many times but never got the attention or equipment i thought i purchased. now that 'recall' made everything worse and almost cause accidents i never had an issue with before.
I own 2014 grand cherokee over, 40,000 miles. the covering on the is separating in several areas. the plastic vent covers on the dashboard have also separated from the dash cover. vehicle has been garaged most of the time otherwise have used sun protectors on dash.
The defrost and temperature will it stay constant. i can set the temp to 70. it will get super hot and minutes later it feels like the ac is on. the defrost doesn't work most of the time and will not defrost the mirrors
Squeeling on every start up. hard shifting several complaints. chrysler has issued a service bulletin #07-002-15 rev. a to address a screeching noise on startup, or more specifically an idler pulley noise during cold start on the vehicles listed below: 2014 ' 2015 jeep cherokee 2011 ' 2014 jeep grand cherokee 2011 ' 2014 dodge durango 2011 ' 2014 dodge charger 2011 ' 2014 dodge challenger 2011 ' 2014 chrysler 300 2011 ' 2014 dodge journey 2011 ' 2014 chrysler 200, dodge avenger 2011 ' 2014 chrysler town and country, dodge caravan the bulletin applies only to vehicles built on or before september 01, 2014 and those vehicles equipped with 3.2l v6 24v vvt, or 3.6l v6 24v vvt engine. chrysler states that the sound is a loud high frequency screeching noise on startup that happens within 20 seconds of engine startup and lasts about 90 seconds intermittently during a cold engine start, approximately 0 degrees c (32 degrees f) and below. the fix is a new updated idler pulley #05281301aa idler pulley
My dash board is separated, meaning the leather is separating from the dash for no reason, this is know problem with these vehicles. my jeep is a garage kept, and there is no reason for this to happen. i spoke with the dealer and they said this is well problem and is not covered under the warranty. they want over $3000 to replace the dash. i see on the internet that there are a lot of complaints, plus i know three others that have the same issue with their jeep grand cherokees. chrysler should replace the dash at no cost to us the customer, these vehicles are in the 40 and 50,000 range and should not have these kind of issues.
Coolant weepage at egr hose same symptom as described in service bulletin 07-003-14 while stationary
Navigation system displays incorrect information. map is 2012 for a 06/13 build on a 2014 vehicle. also, radio software cannot be updated, which is needed for map update. jeep claims neither is a defect or fraud. navigation displays incorrect roads (names, locations), speed limits, and intersection/junction information. huge potential for accidents. problem when in motion.
Will push to start while my foot on brake and it will not start. lights radio all interior will turn on but engine will not start . it happens at first attempt in the morning and it will happen at all hours of the day. it could be off for 15 minutes to 5 hours and it will stall the same. its parked in garage, but its the same if i leave outdoors. this has become an every day thing for the last 3 or 4 months.
Steering wheel locked up while driving, was told by mechanic it is the electric power steering pump. also a week before the drivers headrest suddenly deployed while driving (jeep has never been into a car accident & i am the original owner to this 2014) was told it will be at least $2000 with all parts & labor. this is very serious and dangerous and i have read the steering wheel has locked up on hundreds of others while driving. the jeep did not turn off when the steering wheel locked up. while driving to get out of the road the engine revved up at 20 mph and the jeep did not want to go- had to switch into sport mode to continue to drive out of the road way and the engine revving calmed down. the head rest is broke and can not go into its regular position. did not get a price estimate on that yet. this should be fixed by jeep!!!
The check engine light is on due to the oil pressure switch. but the car does have good oil pressure. and even after an oil change the light will not turn off
Windsheild cowl ripples and allows air flow during driving. while driving windsheild has load wind noise from the lower seal of windsheild
The driver headrest airbag randomly deployed without incident . the vehicle was stationary. brought to dealership and was informed this was not covered under 100k warranty. felt this was concerning as potential other headrest airbag may deploy. additionally asked about the leather pulling up off the dashboard but informed this also was not covered.
Headrest deploys without collision. while parked in driveway overnight, drivers side headrest deployed (popped open and forward). dealership found no faults.
The passenger head rest in my jeep g c deployed for no reason as the vehicle was in motion ( on the city streets) few weeks ago. this is a safety mechanism build into the jeeps for safety purposes. not so safe when it randomly deployed. it wonder when the driver side will deploy hitting me in the back of the head while driving.
Constant cylinder 6 misfire. all 6 spark plugs have been replaced. coil and fuel injector replaced. still showing cylinder 6 misfire. seen cylinder head being replaced on years 2011-2013 but not for a 2014. this should be covered. when the check engine light came on, it had seizure like convulsions when coming to a stop and while in idle until spark plugs were replaced. still running rough, very shaking like it is going to stall out.
While parked with the vehicle off, i was sitting in the driver seat when i suddenly heard a loud bang. i looked all around and saw the active head restraint on the passenger seat had exploded. plastic pieces went flying out. the sound was very loud and startling, and the incident occured with no provocation. through google searches, many other incidences of this can be seen happening. some people have the head restraint impact their head while driving, which could have caused them to wreck. i am terrified that the driver side will do the same thing, and cause me to wreck due to the shock of being hit in the head. furthermore, the vehicle is only 3.5 years old and under 100,000 miles. jeep has stated that this is not covered and that it is part of normal wear and tear. i adamently dissagree with this statement. the active head restraints are held under high tension with a piece of plastic. when this piece of plastic fatigues due to the stresses of the spring tension, the headrest releases. this is a clear design flaw from the factory, and it not only results in loss of functionality, but could result in injury or death to the users of the vehicles. repair costs are quoted around $750.
I keep getting a message that states the 911 system needs maintenance. shortly after i started getting that message, when starting my jeep my screen will stay blank for about 3-5 minutes before coming on. when it is blank the vehicle will switch between air conditioning and heat, high fan and low fan speed. when the screen is blank i am unable to do anything.....even using the buttons below the screen do not work.
Radio does not come on when car starts. the air conditioning will also not turn on at times when this is happening. the dash has also been effected at times, not lighting up. the radio has come on while driving. the car can be driven but no features from the radio panel.
Over-the-air software update. accepted the update one time. update occurs almost daily. while updating the infotainment display only shows progress bar (15-20 minutes) while driving. after update download complete the screen never changes back to original intended functions during ignition cycle. next ignition cycle the screen appears normal until update occurs again, but functionality is very slow to respond or does not respond to "touch" requests for climate controls, navigation, radio, etc. when reversing, the back-up camera image screen has a long delay of 5 seconds or more. backing maneuver usually near completion when image finally appears. camera image is not available during the update or after update complete and not until next ignition cycle. this is a safety issue. navigation system rarely functions when the screen is available.
The jeep navigation gps system has a fault that has caused me to make abrupt lane changes. on several occasions my jeep on-board gps has ordered a right or left turn verbally but when the map was looked at it would indicate the opposite direction. the problem is that if i listen to the spoken directions i may be turn the wrong way. if i consult the map after i begin the turn i have to cross lanes. i have not yet had an accident but have had close calls. i have asked two other owners of jeep grand cherokees 2014 and both had the same problems
The oil cooling system started leaking at 50k miles. i noticed a burning oil smell coming from the vents. that night i had a significant oil leak under the car. after taking this to a service shop, they let me know that this is a common problem.
