Vehicle started stalling 12/5/14. stalled again 12/7/14. took it to dealer 12/8/14 and was told 'couldn't duplicate the problem'. since then it has stalled 3 times with last 2 times between 12/27/17 and 12/31/14. took it to dealer today 1/2/15 and was told same thing. 'couldn't duplicate the problem. thankfully it has been at a low speed and during braking. i understand that it is out of warranty but this is a safety issue. thank you. *tr

While driving on a rainy day, my car shut of-at the time i was doing approx 50 mph. i had to pull over to the side and restart the car. when i took my car, i was informed there is a tipm issue and my computer needed to be replaced, costing me over $1500. since my warranty expired, i have to pay out of pocket. my hands are tied on this one, as it potentially can cause a serious safety issue for my future. also a problem with the tipm, my car has failed to start on approx 10 occasions. it takes me about 20 minutes to get it to start. *tr

The engine would turn over, but it would not start. it would start again after ten minutes or so. it has happened three times and been to the dealer twice. the dealer says they do not know what is wrong and can't fix it. the internet has information indicating that chrysler knows about the problem but does not have the parts to fix it. apparently, it could be an issue with the tipm. *tr
No incident occurred - just noticed the symptom in late november 2014. this is related to safety recall p60/nhtsa 14v-634 (sudden alternator failure). as of 02.04.15, this recall does not apply to my 2012 jeep grand cherokee (jgc) because it has a 5.7l engine (recall only applies to jgcs with 3.6l engines). however, my vehicle also experiences what i think may be symptoms of a faulty alternator: cold start whining/whirring, excessive whining/whirring during acceleration in lower gears, whining/whirring during sharp turns. is there still an open investigation on vehicles with the larger engines? is there a similar pattern of complaints or service repairs for this particular model? i'm suspicious that my vehicle model should be included in the recall. *tr

1-after quickly stopping on the side of the road to collect mail, i tried to go back into the road to continue driving but the steering wheel locked and i could not straighten the vehicle. i ended up crossing into the other side, going into the ditch and hitting a snow bank. due to the very slow speed (i was speeding from the parked position) and to the luck that there were no other cars coming on the opposite direction, no harm was done. dealership never found anything wrong with it. 2- i have had two safety recalls on this vehicle that have not been addressed on a reasonable time frame. for one of them, my car is at risk of fire under the hood, and for the other one, there could be engine stall and crash. jeep has informed of both, but has not been able to provide my dealership with the appropriate parts for fixing the problems. so i have been driving around with small children in the back seat, risking myself and my family's lives and all they can do is tell me nothing can be done and good luck? because it's monetarily cheaper to pay for lost lives than to avoid the loss? something needs to be done, this vehicle was not a cheap one, however we have been treated like they are doing us a favor just for letting us a know we are at risk of dying from car crash due to it's malfunctions.

Attempted to use the autostart to warm vehicle and after one minute it shut off. tried 5 times to start vehicle using push button, would not start or stop. finally let me start with keyfob. i contacted dealer that morning and was told it is most likely the tipm but they don't have any; also i was told it is unsafe to drive my vehicle and get it repaired asap. luckily i was able to locate a dealership with an appointment and part to fix it; even though they told me the computer might just need an update. vehicle continued to not start at random times using keyfob. having issues starting car up to the time i drove it across town to dealership, it would not turn over, sputtered, shook and started. i also have parts on order (been on order since 9/28/14) for the active recalls for brake booster and sun visor fires. i always hear a running sound after the vehicle has been shut off. chrysler's customer services department is no help. i expressed my concern with all the recall/safety issues via email and was told "sorry to hear of your concerns and delay in having parts. i regret the problems you are having with your vehicle. unfortunately we are unable to diagnosis your vehicles issues via email. we recommend contacting your authorized dealership to arrange an appointment." did they even read my complaint!!! i have an appointment to have it fixed but what happens between now and then. what happened to the dependable chrysler products? this is my 5th in 18 years of driving and my last. hopefully i do not hurt/kill anyone or myself behind the wheel of this vehicle. i am scared to drive it. it is a 2012 with 28k on it, this is just disgusting! for as much as these jeeps cost i expect a better product and customer service from chrysler. their dealerships can only do so much without backing from the manufacturer. chrysler needs to fix these issues these are safety issues. *tr

I was driving my vehicle when i noticed a small amount of smoke that seemed to be coming from the air system. someone then exited my vehicle and the smoke billowed and i noticed fire on the passenger side sun visor area. i pulled my vehicle over and upon trying to exit the vehicle, noted that there was smoke coming from both sides near the side impact airbags and throughout the car. the fire was contained mostly to the passenger side, interior, but also went through the upper metal roof and was smoking exterior and causing the paint to bubble and crack open. fire was put out by the local fire department and no injuries. most of the damage is on the passenger interior and exterior, but other unknown damage and white dust was seen near the airbag areas too. sidenote - the current recall on the passenger side sun visor for this vehicle was repaired at the local dealership 3 weeks ago. *tr
While driving at a speed of about 25 mph, i heard a vibrating noise, smelled and saw an excessive amount of smoke coming from the engine compartment. i drove directly home as the battery/electrical light came on. once stopped, i opened the hood to find smoke pouring from the alternator area. i am guessing the this may involve the current campaign "p60" and/or recall number 14v-634. the suv currently cannot be safely driven. *tr

Engine stalled while driving on interstate causing a near-accident. vehicle was successfully restarted shortly thereafter, but after returning home and turning off vehicle, fuel pump continued to run. the following morning the vehicle would not start and had to be towed to chrysler/jeep dealership. dealer repair involved replacing a defective "totally integrated power module" at a cost to me, the owner, of $1,200. this incident very closely mirrors media reports in late september, 2014, detailing similar incidents with the same vehicle. in at least one report (cbs-detroit; sept. 20, 2014; "chrysler recalls nearly 189,000 jeep grand cherokees, dodge durangos") chrysler claims their pending recall will cover suv's built from jan. 25, 2010 through july 20, 2011. my vehicle, exhibiting the exact same malfunctions, was manufactured in november, 2011. clearly the recall should be expanded to capture more vehicles with faulty power modules. *tr

I have had multiple minor issues with this vehicle and returned for repair as many as 3 times to get them fixed. those are minor compared to the challenges i encountered last week with the vehicle. i took it into service the brakes for normal ware and tear and had two recalls taken care of. i also had the rear window which was leaking fixed (3rd time) and dashboard trim repaired (2nd time). about an hour after leaving the dealer the check engine light came on. i returned to the dealer the next day and they discovered it had 2 bad codes that had something to do with a bad ground. their first thought was the recall work was not done properly. once they dug into the codes they discovered a couple of things. first the module-active dampening was bad at a cost to me of $749.00. in my opinion this module had nothing to due with my care for the vehicle and should last the life of the car. it was so hard to get it took the dealer 2 days to find one. they also commented it was the first they have ever replaced. they also discovered due to the check engine light that one of the shocks is bad and will cost approx. $1600.00 to replace and they are none to be had right now. they are on back order. again another part that should not be replaced in less then 2 years of highway use. this is a srt model (the most expensive car in chrysler's line) and it only has surface street and highway miles on it. as for the shock the dealer is asking jeep to pay for all of it except $100.00, we shall see. finally they discovered something they call a "bracket" which is an electrical wiring harness was bad. it was explained to me that they repaired it but if it goes out again it will be another $1600.00 repair. once again should not a electronic component that would have to have the dash board removed to replace it last the life of the car? *tr
