I have received 3 recall notices regarding my 2011 jeep grand cherokee (nhtsa 14v154, 14v530 and 14v391). after receiving notice 14v154 i contacted the local dealership (larry h miller in boise idaho) and was informed that the parts were back ordered with no date when parts would be available. this information was repeated in september. having now received 3 recalls i attempted to schedule to have all 3 resolved at the same time. however, when i tried to schedule a service, i'm told that, while parts are available, they will not order the parts until i bring my vehicle in first. when i asked why they stated that they needed the vin number. however, they not only have my vehicle information on record and i had the vin available during the call. i asked to complete the service order on the phone and was told it was "policy" to schedule service appointments only when the vehicle is present and only then will they order parts. this dealership has exceeded the reasonable amount of time to complete the repairs and is creating an unreasonable barrier to completing the services. *tr

After being unable to stop 3 times within the first 3 minutes of leaving my house i called jeep about the brake recall. jeep never contacted me to let me know that my jeep was involved in the recall. i let them know i no longer felt safe driving the car, as it had faulty brakes and kindly requested a loaner as i had family arriving that weekend and would be doing a lot of traveling. the service writer let me know that according to the recall the jeep will stop with excessive force & may be more difficult in warmer weather. it is currently 80 degrees in colorado with no sign of cooling. i informed the technician that the car had already almost caused 3 accidents and i did not feel confident in it's ability to stop in an emergency situation. he apologized and informed me that his superiors would not allow me a loaner because based on the recall notification the car was safe to drive. in what world is a car with faulty functioning brakes safe for its owner or anyone else on the road!?! john elway jeep of greeley, colorado was the dealership involved. *tr

Experienced unintended acceleration, at a stop or near stop when parking. although my foot was on the break, the car lunged forward as if the accelerator had been pushed all the way down, hitting the back of a parked truck violently. although the impact was great, the air bag did not deploy. the incident was observed by the homeowner/truck owner. *tr

On 5/18/2014 i lost all power assisted braking due to a failed brake booster. on monday, 5/19-2014 i had it replaced at a local shop in shields, mi. in accordance with chrysler's recall notice p14-nhtsa 14v-154, i submitted a reimbursement request for $382.82 to chrysler customer assistance at p.o box 21-8007, auburn hills, mi later that month and a submitted a follow up request on august 5, 2014. to date i have received neither a reimbursement nor acknowledgement of my requests. *tr
None of these three recalls have been addressed by chrysler or my dealer. they are recall #'s14v-154;14v-391;14v-530 respectively. the dealer is claiming that chrysler is not providing the necessary parts to remedy the recalls. i don't want my family at risk during the winter months with the brake booster issue, or stranded on the side of the road as a result of the fuel pump issue. please consider this my formal complaint against chrysler group llc. *tr

I was advised in may this year that there was a recall on my car, having to do with the brake booster shield. i called the dealer (pro r chrysler jeep 1800 w 104th ave. denver co 80234)) regarding the repair, and was told that the parts have not come in yet, and i would be notified when they do. about a month later i called again to find out more about the part and repair, and was told i was #20 on the list, and shouldn't be more than about 2 weeks, and i would be called! its now the end of august, called again today, talked to [xxx], and was told again, according to the service manager, none of the parts have come in from chrysler, and i need to continue to wait until they come in. no other explanation was given. i would appreciate a follow up in this matter. On 05/06/14 vehicle brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the vehicle would not stop at an intersection. the vehicle rolled through two stop signs with an infant in the vehicle nearly causing two separate accidents. brakes did not function at all even after brake pedal was pumped. while driving to the dealership a collision occurred with a white tail deer due to brake pedal being depressed all the way to the floor and no slowing of vehicle. at the dealership, they discovered an internal failure of the brake booster. chrysler would not provide reimbursement after multiple phone calls and vehicle having only 55kmi. on 8/19/14 chrysler still has not refunded costs associated with brake booster recall p14 / nhtsa 14v-154 for 2011 through 2014 model year dodge durango and jeep grand cherokee vehicles, which was sent in may 2014. recall notice states reimbursement within 60 days. *tr
Brake booster issue with 2011 jeep grand cherokee. i recently purchased a used grand cherokee from a dealership. i have noticed that the brake pedal is extremely stiff and it is very difficult to engage the brake at times. this is not a consistent issue. brakes will behave normally and then pedal will become very stiff the next time the brake is depressed. my mechanic examined the vehicle and informed me of the recall and stated that the vehicle is not safe to drive at this point. the dealership that the car was purchased from and chrysler both state that this vehicle is not recalled despite the fact that it has the recalled defect. *tr

Started the jeep up in the morning to leave for work and as i backed into the street and tried stopping, the brake pedal was very stiff and the stopping power was almost none. i then put it into drive to go the 30 yards to the stop sign in front of the house and could not stop. i had both feet stomping on the pedal, but it didn't matter. i made it to the middle of the intersection before i stopped. this happens every time the jeep sits for more than 30 minutes and is then driven again. i have found that pumping the brakes 10-15 times before putting the car into drive alleviates the issue faster. i am worried that eventually this will happen even after the brakes are 'warmed up' when i really need the brakes. i researched the issue in forums online and it seems very common for the new-style grand cherokees to have issues with the brake booster. i went to my local jeep dealership and the part is over $200 without installation, which is not covered by my extended warranty. *tr

Brake booster recall p14 / nhtsa 14v-154. dealership: herb chambers chrysler of danvers ma. dealer has been unable to remedy this within a reasonable time (7 months), and we are concerned as this is a life threatening recall if the brake booster fails again. we replaced the brake booster previously with a faulty brake booster in november 2013, at this same dealership. we have been told there is a waiting list and there is "nothing" that can be done. *tr

My wife was driving our 2011 grand cherokee overland yesterday and was stopped with her foot on the brake in a drive thru. while it was stopped with her foot on the brake petal went right to the floor and the jeep started to move forward. no brakes!!! she said she heard a air type sound when it happened. fortunately she was able to coast safely to a parking spot until i could get there. after getting it to the dealer the called me and said it was the brake booster. no details were given to me other than it failed. all i can say is thankfully it happened where it did. there are so many situations that this could have cost her life or someone else's. now every time she or i drive it we will be thinking about when the brakes will go out again. hope we can get over that or it's gone. she was shaking for hours afterwards and was physically drained later in the day. again, thankfully it happened while stopped. *tr
While driving the speed limit on the highway i was approaching slow traffic. i tried to apply the brakes but the brakes were hard and failed to work properly. the vehicle did slow down a little bit but not enough to stop the vehicle. i was going 55mph and then traffic slowed to about 20-25mph but couldn't. i had to veer off into the left lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. it wasn't the anti-lock brakes kicking in either. i the brakes were just failing. the second occurrence was the next day when i was approaching an intersection to make a right hand turn i tried to apply the brakes but again the brakes were hard, as if the pedal fully depressed without applying any brake. luckily i was cautious from the previous incident and was approaching the intersection at a low rate of speed. i was able to just barely make the turn without colliding with another car. thankfully there weren't any pedestrians crossing the street, in new york city this is a rarity. after all this happened i checked any recalls with my vehicle and saw the brake booster recall. i called two jeep dealers ( bayside jeep in ny and east hills jeep in ny) and both gave me a hard time saying that there is not a recall out for my vehicle. they are saying my vin # does not have a recall against it but jeep hasn't assigned the recall to any specific vin #s, they say to just bring it in to get checked out. since this wasn't a mandatory recall to my vin# i wasn't given an appointment for service for 1week at bayside jeep and 2days later at east hills jeep. i was given attitude and didn't even care that this was a major safety issue. *tr

My wife has had 3 separate encounters where her 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland has randomly powered down, losing capability to operate the vehicle (no brakes/steering) while she was driving the vehicle. the first occasion happened in november of 2013, vehicle was stopped at an intersection and lost power. the vehicle was put into park and re-started with no further issue. we didn't report this incident. the second event happened on april 3, 2014, the vehicle lost power while my wife was driving at approx. 40 mph. again, when the vehicle came to a stop she put it into park and re-started the vehicle. we contacted the local chrysler dealership on april 7 and set up an appointment for april 12. the third event occurred this morning, april 10, 2014. the vehicle speed is difficult to determine but my wife was slowing down to make a left turn on a 50mph road. there were other vehicles in the area that could have caused serious accident, mainly a school bus with children on board. again, the vehicle had to be put into park and restarted. difficult to do on this busy road. i contacted the same dealership and explained to them what had happened. the dealership moved up my april 12 appointment to today. so far, the dealership has been accommodating. they plan to run diagnostics checks to determine cause of power failure. also, there are other electrical issues plaguing this vehicle (power door locks not working, drivers side seat heater not working, key not being detected). this vehicle has approx. 129,000 kms on the odometer and we bought it privately about 6 months ago (approx. 105,000 kms). i felt that i should report this issue given the recent attention to similar issues with general motors (ignition switch). if necessary, i can provide more details. *tr
When the jeep grand cherokee vehicle is exiting the freeway or when coasting with no pressure on the accelerator, the vehicle stalls. engine power is lost, power steering is lost, and power braking is lost leading to a significant inability to control the vehicle. the vehicle is unable to restart until it comes to a complete stop in the roadway and is put into park. this issue has occurred on four separate occasions before chrysler even issued a recall. chrysler has now notified me by mail of a recall for the fuel relay which could cause a stall and crash and has recommended i take the car to a dealer for repair. after taking the car to the dealer, the dealer has stated that no problem can be found and they cannot recreate the issue. the jeep dealer has no evidence showing them that the problem is occurring as a result of the fuel relay even with the recall in effect. the dealer has advised me to pick up the car and wait until parts are available to fix the recalled part. this means they have advised me to drive the car with this potentially fatal flaw. this is as of november 18th, 2014. chrysler's recall department has advised by phone i drive the car to another jeep dealership to see if another service department can diagnose the issue. this recommendation puts myself and the public at risk of serious injury or death. there has been no temporary repair suggested or a date when a permanent fuel relay replacement part will be available. no alternative transportation has been provided or offered. i am without a means of transportation while my vehicles is not functioning due to safety reasons. *tr

My brake booster has a malfunction causing vacuum loss in the brake booster. this causes difficulties in stopping my car. i have read about a recall pertaining to this issue so i called chrysler about this and they said that they will issue a recall in may and i should go ahead and have the repairs completed at my dealership since there's no way of the customer service rep knowing if my car is included. she also stated that there is no way of knowing if i will be able to be reimbursed for paying for the repair out of pocket. *tr
