On friday, 9/19/14, my 2011 jeep grand cherokee almost killed me. i was driving between va and ny via i-81 for a family funeral. i stopped half-way there for lunch and then experienced a problem starting it. hitting the start button, it would not start, and would not stop trying to do so - it kept cranking and would not stop until i opened the door. it did this 3-4x, and then it started. it had never done this before. i continued on, more cautiously. an hour later, while passing several big rigs, part of the electrical system stopped working. i lost power steering, accelerator function, and my dash lit up - and the engine continued running and even rev'ed despite the lack of the accelerator. my brakes also didn't work for approx. 10 seconds. the road curved, and i almost lost control and flipped the jeep trying to avoid the big rigs, which were slamming on their brakes all around. ultimately, i was able to pull over with no accident or damage and turned the vehicle off. after 15 minutes, it re-started, and i was able to get to my destination with no other problems. upon arrival, however, i experienced the same things while testing it at very low speeds on back roads. after the funeral on saturday, i was able to get it to the local dealership, where it still is undergoing diagnostics. i had to travel back to va on sunday, and now have to rent a car, deal with long-distance repairs with an unknown dealership, and travel back to ny to get it once repaired. the dealership indicated it sounded like a tipm issue, which i have learned jeep/chrysler know about, but have not recalled. i have previously experienced minor electrical issues (flashlight never worked, multiple back bulbs, etc), which the dealership indicated may indicate tipm issues since the day i bought the vehicle, but were always dealt with as isolated repairs. please help with a jeep/chrysler tipm recall! *tr

Approximately 6 weeks ago i reported a lack of response when braking. dealer looked at the system and found no issue. reported it again two weeks ago. dealer looked at the system and found brake booster needed changing. got the vehicle back last week and the problem has re-occurred. at a standstill when you press the brake pedal you get an air brake type sound, and a slight knock, which appears to coming from the compartment behind the pedal. issue has been reported again to the dealer. thanks, *tr

As i was driving down a busy highway traffic in front of me was stopping, so i hit the brakes to stop only to realize that i had no brakes and i was unable to stop. so in panic mode i swerved over 3 lanes of traffic to avoid hitting the cars in front of me, finally my jeep stopped before hitting the car in front of me. took my jeep to the dealership took them over a week to get back to me telling me what was wrong, the brake booster needed to be replaced. i still have not received my truck back since i took it to the stop in august 29, 20214. *tr

Chrysler has a recall number14v-154. i have tried to get the recall taken care off at several dealer ships in the greater detroit area w/o success due to missing parts. about two weeks ago the brake booster on my jeep went suddenly out and i barely avoided an accident. i estimate that the loss of brake power is around 80-90%. many times i am towing a boat and if that would have been the case when the brake booster went out i could not have avoided crashing into the car ahead of me. the re-call notice is taking the issue way to lightly. " the driver may be required to apply additional application force to apply the brakes during sub freezing driving conditions" the fact it with all the force i could apply the car barely came to a stop. no warning about to avoid towing. and certainly the temperature where way above sub freezing. since the incident i have my car in the shop and as of today nobody is able to tell me when they will receive parts. this issue is huge and chrysler has to understand the big potential of fatal or badly injured crashes especially when considering the towing capability of that vehicle. i am also sure that chrysler is selling new cars which have the new part in question installed instead of taking care of current owner how are in danger losing their brakes while driving daily. i am also convinced that cars returned on lease will have the new components installed so they can be re-sold. i hope this complain finds the right ear and makes chrysler put a higher priority and urgency on this matter. at the moment they see it to lightly. *tr

I had a recall p36/nhtsa 14v-154 and contacted the dealer. i set an appointment for august 14, 2014 to bring the car in because they told me they needed to inspect and order the part. i dropped the car off for the day, so they could inspect it, and picked it up at the end of the day. it is september 25, 2014, and they have not contacted me or returned my calls regarding the repair. i also got a second recall while waiting for follow-up on the first for this vehicle: p36/nhtsa 14v-391. i called to set that appointment for the same time as they repair the first recall. i left a message with the receptionist and never got a call back. i do not feel as though i need to manage their recall for my vehicle, and they do not make any attempts to manage it themselves or respond to my inquiries. what do i do from here? the dealer is autonation chrysler dodge jeep ram, roseville, ca 95661. *tr

Received a recall on the brakes. took the truck into golling jeep in bloomfield hills mi on 8-7-14. was called back to let me know it was also a bad brake booster. it is now 9-15-14 over 5 weeks later and the truck is still not fixed. i'm told they don't have the parts and they have no idea when they will be in. this is affecting my ability to do my job due to lack of a comparable vehicle and in turn causing me stress. *tr

I have taken this vehicle to two jeep dealerships in my area...chrysler does not have the parts to repair the corroding brake booster that we have received recall notices about..can you not force the company to prioritize these protective brake booster shields..it has been a month and neither dealership (sport dunst or westmark) have these parts! *tr

Several attempts were made throughout the day to start my 2011 grand jeep cherokee and it would not start, only a clicking noise. i took it to the dealer immediately and the tipm is bad and needs to be replaced. obviously, my car is only 3 years old and not under warranty now. the part alone is over $900.00, which seems questionable that something would go bad so quickly on a vehicle and cost so much to repair. besides the cost, there are so many complaints for the same issue, and even more serious with the engine cutting off while driving. is someone going to recall this item before someone gets hurt or even killed????? i purchased this vehicle, and all my previous chrysler/jeep vehicles thinking they were safe for my family; now i'm not so sure. do the right thing and recall the tipm! in addition, i have made several attempts to get the brake booster repaired due to the recall and the parts are still not in. this has been going on for months now. *tr

Local chrysler dealerships do not have parts to correct brake booster recall p14 / nhtsa 14v-154. have been waiting 3 months for replacement parts. dealerships say parts are back ordered and they have no estimate on when new parts will arrive. recall is not being addressed within a reasonable amount of time. *tr
