About 2 weeks after replacement of all four rotors and brake pads i applied brakes while travelling 30 mph on dry road as the car in front of me was waiting to turn left. my car took a much longer time and distance to stop than usual. i should have stopped 10 to 15 feet behind the car but did not stop until about a foot from the car in front of me. i heard a hissing noise from the area near brake pedal. i brought the car back to my mechanic who said the brake power booster needed replacement. he said this is a very unusual thing to occur and suggested that i contact jeep to see if it was part of a recall. i contacted the jeep dealer i purchased it from ( certified pre-owned ) and was told that recall # p14 was performed in oct. 2014 to place a shield near the power booster to prevent water infiltration to avoid corrosion. i was told that a new power booster would not be covered by warranty. it is my belief that since a recall was initiated to prevent corrosion of the brake power booster but the vehicle was driven for 3 years prior to the shield being installed that the corrosion caused by water infiltration had already began and the brake power booster itself should be part of the recall. simply placing a shield after the corrosion process started defies common sense and is a safety hazard. i do understand that the brake power booster was tested at the time the shield was installed, however corrosion (rust ) is ...

While driving 55 mph on the freeway the esc light came on and then my engine stalled, power steering and brakes shut off. i had to get to the side of the road and slowly coast to the exit! with my two kids (both under 4) in the car. talk about scary!!!! i had my car towed to a jeep service center and after 4 days with my car - they said they could not duplicate nor find any issues. i had to pay $200.00 for that answer.which i was not happy with!!! then today (july 12, 2015) while slowing down at a stop light - the same thing happened again!!!!!

I left my car in with darcars jeep of rockville, maryland on april 2nd for a routine service and to complete any recalls. darcars informed me that they were unable to complete one of the recalls (recall number 14v154000) on the car because criswell jeep of gaithersburg (a dealership that i used in october 2014) claimed they had already performed the work for the recall and had been paid by jeep, however the work was never actually done. jeep is refusing to pay for this recall because criswell, one of their licensed dealerships, is not being honest. a dealership lying about performing recalls is a serious safety violation and should be reviewed immediately by your agency. how many other recalls has criswell been paid for but not actually performed the work? what are the controls in your agency to mitigate this risk? *tr

I'd like to register a formal complaint "for the record". regarding chrysler group's recall #s p14, p36 and p54 for the 2011 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 ... parts are still not available (since may 2014 for the power brake booster!) this is totally unacceptable. individually, the harbinger of these three (3) recalls could result in; (a) power-assisted braking failure, (b) a vehicle interior electrical fire and, (c) intermittent / unexpected engine shutdown. i contacted the chrysler group recall assistance center today @ 1-800-853-1403 and spoke with "[xxx]" ... received a pretty lame "bs" explanation about parts availability on all three (3) recalls and the method in which they are allocated to their dealerships. she could not commit as to when, if ever, my dealership would receive the required parts to remedy the outstanding recalls on my vehicle. my local dealership is a smaller, rural "mom & pop" store, so the question that begs to be asked is will i ever see these parts installed before there's a recall-related incident with my wife's vehicle? the recall "system" is apparently broken, as chrysler group is not diligently fulfilling their safety obligations and nobody from nhtsa is apparently doing anything about enforcing it, quite disconcerting and unacceptable! as of today's registered complaint(s), kindly consider nhtsa and chrysler group as officially put on notice of my complaint and of my dire concern for this particular situation. note that the problem is not with my local dealership, as they've been trying to acquire the necessary parts on my behalf from chrysler group. please follow-up chrysler group without further delay and report your findings to me. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
