Turn signals failed, windshield wipers failed to turn off, traction control turned off, horn failed to work, interior lights failed to work, could not turn lights onto highbeam, rear wiper failed to turn on, electronic transmission shifted into a different gear while driving. it was determined that this was a failure of the angle sensor in the steering column. the failure of this part caused significant failures of the main safety equipment of the vehicle (turn signals, headlamps, windshield wipers, traction control, transmission, horn) hazards because the primary safety equipment of the vehicle failed to function correctly while it was being driven. *tr

My 2011 jeep grand cherokee that is equipped with a v-8 5.7l engine failed because of a faulty fuel pump relay inside the totally integrated power module (tipm-7). fortunately the vehicle was not moving at the time and would not start. the car has been sitting at the dealer since 11/4 because chrysler has informed them that there is a backlog of well over 1,000 tipm-7 units and they don't know when or if they will be available (their words, not mine)! frankly, i am outraged as a consumer. i paid $42,000 for a vehicle i cannot use. *tr

Our jeep was giving us problems starting & many of times we had to get it jumped or charge the battery all night. my fiance spoke to jeep about this problem as it seems certain systems aren't completely turning off & thus using up our battery even when the vehicle is off. they currently have a two week waiting period for service and now we have a completely out of commission jeep. it will no longer start, it will turn over but that's all. this is only three months after having to do the brake recall since we would randomly lose our brakes. i currently have a 3 year old car, that i can't use & a two week wait till it can be fixed. i commute 45 minutes to work & this was supposed to be our winter weather vehicle. very disappointed with jeep. *tr

10/27/14- tried to start car using push-button start- car engine would not turn over, however dashboard indicator lights came on, and also a message in the menu that read- no bus tipm. windshield wipers came on (but the control was in the "off" position), and would not stop even when control was switched on and off. only stopped with push-button start button was pressed. tried several times with same results. called tow truck, had car towed to neighborhood licensed mechanic. 2 days later, was told to have car towed to jeep dealership because they couldn't identify the problem. had car towed to jeep dealership 10/30/14 and after 1 1/2 days, was told that it was the tipm module & would need replaced. car can not be driven until part is replaced. $980 for the tipm module & $90/hour for labor, and no guarantee that this would fix the problem. i purchased this car used in may 2014, with 2000 miles/2-3 mos. left on the 3 year/36k mile basic limited warranty. this car is no longer under warranty & i must pay for this repair out of pocket. *tr

Vehicle (recently purchased used) would not start when pushing start button in vehicle. the first day it would start using remote start on fob. however, this problem occurred again next day and would not start from inside car or using remote outside car. it appeared to start remotely but would die within seconds. when trying to start from inside engine would crank but not start. after several start attempts, i could smell fuel. after 20 minutes and probably 15 attempts, engine started and i was able to return home. have been afraid to drive vehicle since after reading numerous complaints on internet. there is a recall for this 2011 model relating directly to this problem, but only for vehicles manufactured before 7/20/2010. this vehicle shows a manufacture date of 9/2010. this problem has been identified and is being investigated for defective fuel pump relay in tipm. i am afraid to drive the car. *tr

In october 2014, my jeep grand cherokee stalled without warning three time. there was complete loss of power, no warning lights. i have a push button start and had to come to a complete start, place it in park, and restart. each time was on a busy street with many unhappy drivers slamming on their brakes. i left the car at the jeep dealership for two days and they found nothing. the next week, i got the recall. i took it back and they checked with the regional service guy. they changed the tipm pending the "final fix." no more stalls occurred. they then did the "final fix" in january. i had another stall on january 26! i'll take it back with the next recall for god knows what and see what they suggest. i'm not optimistic. *tr

When i left the house for work it started fine and went around the corner to convenience store and when i got back in to leave it wouldn't start. the engine turned over, but wouldn't start. i waited a few minutes, took the key out of the ignition and tried again and it started right up. the same thing happened the following day. it started fine in the morning, drove to work and then it never wouldn't start again. during the day i tried several times. once it did start but it sounded like the accelerator was pushed all the way down (motor revved up) so i just turned it off. had to leave it at work overnight, the following morning went to try and get it home and it started again just fine. i know it's not the battery because it has 100% charge and all the electronics work ie. windows, locks, radio, lights etc. *tr

The car does not start, the ignition keeps turning over but the engine does not start, then it does not turn off so you have to sit and wait for all the lights on the panel and the radio to go off before trying to start again. if i press the start button before everything shuts down, the ignition stays on but refuses to start the engine. the dealership does not have a clue why this is happening. i know it's not only my car because i have been at the service department with others who have the same problem, there has to be a reason for this, someone at jeep knows (i am sure). *tr

A 2011 jeep grand cherokee with 64,000 miles on it is sitting in my driveway, as it will not start. i find it appalling that a car that is 3 years old can have so many issues plaguing it. it is a money pit. there is a cylinder 2 misfire (needs cylinder head), a torque converter code, and a faulty fuel pump relay on the 'totally integrated power module'. the safety of my family, and the consumer in general, is compromised - when a $30,000 vehicle has the potential to stall while driving. when working, the jeep decelerates while driving, has low power and idles very irregularly. i am very disappointed with my purchase and with the fact that chrysler stands for such faulty products. *tr

2011 jeep grand cherokee. consumer states intermittently vehicle will crank and not start and fuel pump signal issues. *smd the dealer traced the problem to a fuel pump relay losing signal at the tipm module. *jb

Intermittent no start. it takes 3 - 15 attempts to start the vehicle. there is a service recall for similar problem in the same model and vehicle year, but my vehicle vin is not included in the recall. i am not sure how that is possible, unless chrysler uses different electronic components during the manufacturing process, which might explain why they have so many problems. i also can't help but wonder if chryslers is only recalling those vehicles that belong to owners in the states where they lost a lawsuit on the problem. unfortunately i guess for me, i am not in one of those states. *tr

These jeep grand cherokee 2011 have the starting which is cause of a bad electric problem. in which keep knows about for a long time and doesn't want to do a recall for this item. when it can cause a fire a person to crash when the engine stalled and airbags deploys while driving. i very unsafe problem which cause the consumer around 1500 to fix when it is a manufacturer problem and defect. i think and they should fix it asap before a family gets killed for this and it will be worse. thanks *tr

Vehicle will not start. if it does it takes as many as 9 times cranking before it finally turns over to start. *tr

Early oct. my vehicle started to have a issue with starting. so i just ignored it for a few weeks as time went on it got worse and worse. so on october 30th i did some research. found that it was a tipm problem i was occurring. mind you i am mechanically incline i do work for a car company and fix cars all day. so on oct 31st i took it to suburban chrysler in troy mi. they did 2 recalls and said you have a tipm issue. ok covered under warranty? nope! $1190.00 to fix. i state to the service advisor [xxx], there is a recall for the same issue. he states it dose not apply to your vehicle. i state i don't understand. but there is a fix can i have my vehicle repaired the same way. he states no. so i need to buy a whole tipm where others just get a bypass? they state yes. f*** that. i remove my vehicle from there. i call chrysler for any kind of support. nothing. no assistance. no words of advice. i tell them, how do i drive my car if it stalls or wont start. sorry cant help you. am i supposed to drive my car? they cant tell me if i can drive my car. that up to me they state. so there not sure if i should drive or not. over the weekend i contemplated about where to take my vehicle to get fixed. i guess ill pay $1190 monday goes by. i get home and sure enough a recall notice in my mail. you mean to tell me they did not know 3 days earlier? they just wanted me to pay $1190. so his commission check is nice. i know how it works. little did they know i was a service advisor for chrysler for over a year!!!! now its 11/21 and my vehicle did not start this morning due to the fuel pump running all night.... now if the fuel pump burns out do they replace that under the recall? there is a trick. if it runs when the vehicle is off. open the hood and slap the fuse box and it will turn off. ...

I received a recall notice for the totally integrated power module for my 2011 jeep grand cherokee in october 2014. the vehicle now struggles to start almost every time it is prompted to. it usually takes two or three attempts to successfully start after it makes a sort of rev type of noise and even produces an odor which is smelt on the outside of the vehicle. the dealership has told me that the part to correct the issue is currently unavailable, and when it does become available, there are over 20 people ahead of me on the waiting list to be repaired. the recall states that the issue could cause the car to stall unexpectedly which makes me fearful for my, and others, safety being that i drive on the interstate everyday. *tr

I was having problems starting my 2011 jeep grand cherokee. sometimes it started and then the engine died which is very dangerous. i took it in to jeep service and they replaced the fuel pump relay in the tipm. *tr

After reading many other complaints i see that my vehicle seems to also be suffering from a faulty tipm. my first attempt to start the car most days is met with what seems to be a lack of fuel but every other attempt to start the car the same day is successful without incident. there is no consistent time, speed or temperature related to what happens when the car is traveling. the dashboard lights up, radio, a/c, turn signals and headlights turn off and seat belt alert sounds. only once has vehicle lost power briefly. when i first purchased this vehicle in 2012 the dealer cold not find the source of the problem. now it is happening much more frequently but before i take it to the dealer and pay for the tipm i want to verify that it is a recall item. another issue that began recently is the front passenger door would not close if opened from the inside unless we pull the exterior handle twice. i was told that this was not covered and would cost around $600. *tr

My 2011 jeep grand cherokee overland 5.7l has not starting multiple times. other symptoms include intermittent rough idle after starting, sputtering/missing when accelerating and uphill, and intermittent failing to shift at high rpm. dealer proposing to install starter/fuel module relay which chrysler has made due to "amount of people with this problem" but quoting me $410 for the repair. no definitive diagnosis that this will fix all the symptoms. advised by dealer to not drive vehicle until problem is fixed as the truck can stall or turn off at any time resulting in a serious safety risk. this is a very dangerous problem!!! *tr

I was driving on a surface street and beginning to slow for a traffic signal when the car shut off. i had no power whatsoever; had to coast as far as i could to the side of the road; then put the car in park, and restarted it. a few weeks prior, i had taken the car to the ontario, ca jeep chrysler dealership where they repaired an issue with the car not starting. the service rep stated that they had installed a circuit board overlay. it is my understanding that this is a supposed fix for tipm issues, but it did not stop my car from turning off after the repair had been done. several months ago, i took the car into the same dealership with the complaint that the alarm - horn - had been going off randomly for no reason. at that time, the service rep said they could not replicate the issue and could do nothing. it is also my understand now that this is another symptom of tipm failure. *tr

The dash board lit up and could not start the car. electrical in the car while driving was like a christmas tree on the dash board. found that the totally integrated power module was no good. also found out only some cars are covered under the recall not all. *tr

Was driving and the vehicle stop on the highway, got out of the way from traffic. i tried to start the vehicle but it try to turn over. i let go of the key it was still trying to start by itself. it finally started i drove it home. i tried to start the jeep it just turn over without starting let go of the key it still trying to start on its own. i called the dealer and talked with service dept, service advisor name is [xxx] . he told me to bring it in. i drove it to the dealer on 9/23/14. got my car back on 9/26/14. i was told it was the tipm, {totally integrated power module}. i got a recall notice from chrysler group, safety recall notice. chrysler charged me $1,307.48 to replace the tipm. then i had to take it back to the dealer because there was a recall for the brake booster had it fixed the same time for the tipm. i got home with the vehicle i when to the store got up the street the brakes when to the floor. it frighten the hell out of me. got that fixed then the brake lights stay on plus no brake lights, looks like i was riding my brakes, had to take it back to the dealer again. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

On friday, 9/19/14, my 2011 jeep grand cherokee almost killed me. i was driving between va and ny via i-81 for a family funeral. i stopped half-way there for lunch and then experienced a problem starting it. hitting the start button, it would not start, and would not stop trying to do so - it kept cranking and would not stop until i opened the door. it did this 3-4x, and then it started. it had never done this before. i continued on, more cautiously. an hour later, while passing several big rigs, part of the electrical system stopped working. i lost power steering, accelerator function, and my dash lit up - and the engine continued running and even rev'ed despite the lack of the accelerator. my brakes also didn't work for approx. 10 seconds. the road curved, and i almost lost control and flipped the jeep trying to avoid the big rigs, which were slamming on their brakes all around. ultimately, i was able to pull over with no accident or damage and turned the vehicle off. after 15 minutes, it re-started, and i was able to get to my destination with no other problems. upon arrival, however, i experienced the same things while testing it at very low speeds on back roads. after the funeral on saturday, i was able to get it to the local dealership, where it still is undergoing diagnostics. i had to travel back to va on sunday, and now have to rent a car, deal with long-distance repairs with an unknown dealership, and travel back to ny to get it once repaired. the dealership indicated it sounded like a tipm issue, which i have learned jeep/chrysler know about, but have not recalled. i have previously experienced minor electrical issues (flashlight never worked, multiple back bulbs, etc), which the dealership indicated may indicate tipm issues since the day i bought the vehicle, but were always dealt with as isolated repairs. please help with a jeep/chrysler tipm recall! *tr
