Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Due to a faulty tipm the car will randomly not start/stall stranding the driver. it has been to the dealership twice with no resolution. *tr

My vehicle was hard cranking in the morning. vehicle will not start using key fob or push button start. vehicle cranks for 5 to 10 seconds and then shuts down. after replacing the battery (which now i did not need and $245.00 later) , being stranded numerous times, and taking to multiple mechanics. if vehicle dies all loss of power steering and brakes is lost and is a huge safety concern. my vehicle has 40k+ miles. i have researched and determined that there a hundreds if not thousands of jeep owners who are experiencing the same problem. since my car is out of warranty dealership tells me that it is on me to pay for the parts and labor to fix. unacceptable. with this being such a widespread problem a recall should be issued and consumers not be forced to pay for a part that is clearly failing nationwide. recall needs to happen immediately. *tr

Vehicle fails to start multiple times. came close to stalling a few times. same symptoms as mentioned by many with the tipm module. i believe this to be a very important safety issue as well as financially and emotionally. no warning as to when and where the problems can arise. *tr

2011 jeep cherokee, problems with cranking and fuel pump not shutting off sometimes when vehicle is off. vehicle is not starting properly but will start after several tries. then the fuel pump will continue to run when the vehicle is off. dealership stated it is a faulty relay switch built into the tipm (totally integrated power module) so you have to replace the entire tipm at the cost of 1,000 for the part. and, the part is not available at the moment, on national back order. hundreds others are having this problem. fuel pump could just cut off at any moment because of a $10 relay switch that is built into the tipm. this should be a recalled item due to faulty switch inside the tipm that is leaving hundreds of people stranded without a vehicle while they wait on a single part for weeks! *tr

2011 jeep grand cherokee. inability to start vehicle or jump vehicle to start. required tow to dealership. electrical problem not correctly diagnosed, starting failure attributed to battery. same issue after replacement of battery. required second tow to dealership. problem now diagnosed as (tipm) total integrated power module. $1400 (estimate) to replace tipm, however dealership stated that this tipm is a nationswide problem and they could not give me an estimate as to when part may be available. awaiting decision by dealership to provide me with rental vehicle. *tr

This is the second time that the alternator shorted out seized and killed battery within 9 months, so battery completely dies - first time couldn't even jump start so had to tow, second time i left it connected to jump starter wires for 8 minutes and the car started and took it to dealership. first time it happened in nov 2013 and now again in october 2014. central avenue chrysler jeep dealership doesn't know why this is happening, as it shouldn't. i had to pay for the replacement twice now, $400 first time and $500 second time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to power on without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module (tipm) needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 47,000.

For the past 3 weeks i have had trouble with my jeep taking multiple attempts to ignite. the engine would repeatedly turn but it would not start. i took my jeep to the allen samuel jeep dealership twice in one week, 3 weeks ago, and they stated they could not diagnose the problem though i informed them of a significant number of complaints i had found online regarding the tipm. i brought my jeep to the ron carter jeep dealership on november 8, 2013 and on november 12, 2013 i was informed that i needed to replace the tipm. the dealership would not cover the cost and jeep/chrysler has not recalled the tipm at this time. this problem is widely known and there is a 2-3 month back order for the tipm. i was lucky in that the dealership had one on hand and was able to immediately replace it. jeep needs to be held responsible and forced to recall this product. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the engine light illuminated. the failure recurred several times. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v154000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic), 14v391000 (electrical system), and 14v530000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to do the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 118,000.

When attempting to start the car it will just crank without firing up. *tr

Jeep is unreliable turning on. will crank and crank and crank, but never turn over. after 10 or so tries, will sometimes start. other times, i have to leave it and try again later. dealer says it is related to the tipm. which is backordered, with no estimated ship date in sight. this part is also linked to my automatic brakes, airbags, electrical, etc. my car is still under warranty and the dealer refuses to grant me a courtesy or rental car until the part comes in. they suggested i keep my unreliable car for the time being. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to power on without warning. the contact attempted to power on the vehicle several times before it finally started. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

When starting the jeep, it made a violent shutter and would not completely start. after multiple attempts at trying to start and then stopping, the jeep finally started successfully. i contacted the local jeep dealer who stated that unless the stop engine light can on, which would give them a code to check, they would not be able to identify the problem. i mentioned issues with the tipm module that i had read about on the internet. they stated they were not aware of any issues. beginning around july 15, 2014, the jeep started doing the same thing again. not every time when starting but progressively more often until on july 28, 2014, it would not start at all. after attempting for about 30 minutes, i was able to get the jeep started and drove to the dealer for repair. this time they identified the tipm module as the problem, and that there was a need to wire an external relay around the module so that the fuel pump received power. this is clearly a manufacturing defect since it is affecting so many cars and jeep needs to announce a recall to fix this defect and also to reimburse owners who have had repairs made. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the engine failed to start numerous times until the failure became permanent. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. the dealer performed a diagnostic which located the failure at the computer integrated management system. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.

The tipm (totally integrated power module) is on back order and now chrysler is saying its backordered to january 14, 2014. *tr

The vehicle had been experiencing intermittent problems with failing to start for approximately two weeks prior to the vehicle stalling while in motion while we were taking it in to be fixed. the tipm was diagnosed to be faulty and needed to be replaced for a price of more than $1000. the vehicle is out of warranty, but this part is only available from a dealership and needs programming to function properly. the consequences could be severe if the vehicle dies at the wrong time. *tr

The car has had intermittent long cranking time for almost the past year and recently the fuel pump would keep running after the car was turned off .i would remove the fuel pump fuse to save the cars battery.i was told the problem was with the total integrated power module or tipm. *tr

Upon attempting to start the vehicle, it will crank but not turn over to start. managed to start the vehicle and drove directly to the dealership. diagnosed with a shorted out tipm (totally integrated power module). part is currently on back order due to the high demand from chrysler on this part. i have researched and determined that there a hundreds if not thousands of jeep owners who are experiencing the same problem. since my car is out of warranty dealership tells me that it is on me to pay for the parts and labor to fix. unacceptable. with this being such a widespread problem a recall should be issued and consumers not be forced to pay for a part that is clearly failing nationwide. also, service manager at benchmark jeep in birmingham, al used an analogy of the part being a light bulb and that if you turn on a light bulb 100 times it might not turn on the 101st. way to stand by your product!!! something as important as the cpu that runs your car should work all the time every time. also used an analogy of my home computer crashing. only problem is i use apple. they make an excellent product and stand by it!! never buying a jeep again.. *tr

Vehicle cranking long before starting, dealer diagnostic was tipm, jeep was contacted they agreed they has issues with part mentioned and agreed in provide part w/$100 deductible, i still paid for the cranking sensor and labor, new tipm created more electrical problems. when turning signal was activated fog lights were blinking but not the turning lights, taken back to dealer they temporary fix the problem until jeep releases the new update in at least 2 months, after they fixed the turning lights another issued resulted, now the stop tail brake lights don't turn on if ignition switch is not in on position and sometimes even with the engine running , or if engine is not running. this issue concerns me a lot, since this is very critical if driving on highway and engine stop working how i will let the vehicles behind me that i have an emergency and i'm stepping on the brakes, lights will not turn on. are you people from nhtsa waiting until fatalities happen to force jeep to make a recall and fix the problems.? there are thousands of vehicles with failures related to this tipm , please prevent people die in crashes for this issue and do something about it. now my car is in the dealer again because they can properly fix it, and all related to this new tipm. these corporation was already bailout with our tax money, now they are passing the cost of repairs to people who purchased a defective product, it is very suspicious that all of the tipm went bad, between 50,000 and 60,000 miles just after warranty has expired...please do something. *tr

October 20, 2013, attempted to turn ignition off when the starter motor remained engaged and continued cranking after shut off and engine check light came on. starter motor finally disengaged after pushing the start/stop button multiple times. vehicle has only 20652 miles on the odometer. vehicle taken to the dealer who advised that the starter motor never remained engaged while cranking during their test. dealer invoice reports "check veh for check engine light on, hook up to scanner found "dtc p0108". checked for flash found power train flash reprogram pcm then retest, vehicle ok". dealer mentioned nothing about a possible tipm problem. vehicle ran fine for a while, but the same thing occurred several months later. since the second incident, no further problems until yesterday (september 6, 2014) when the engine would not start as the starter motor remained engaged and continued to crank. the starter motor disengaged and stopped cranking when the start/stop button was pushed, but the same thing happened 5 successive times when additional attempts were made to start the engine. finally, the vehicle started. i googled the symptoms and learned about the ongoing problem with the tipm involving the 2011 jeeps. i've recently received two recall notices from chrysler for "p36 / nhtsa 14v-391 and 154" (lamp wiring and brakes), but nothing regarding the tipm problem. i now have a lack of confidence in my jeep. *tr

Vehicle will not start using key fob or push button start. vehicle cranks for 5 to 10 seconds and then shuts down. dealership diagnosed problem as a bad tipm (totally integrated power module), a common problem nationwide. parts and labor to replace the tipm is $1200. chrysler/jeep at 800-247-9753 stated they would not assist. *tr

The t.i.p.m. (totally integrated power module) on my jeep grand cherokee overland has malfunctioned. after doing some research online thousands of dodge/chrysler/jeep consumers have been experiencing the same problem with the tipm module. the problem seems to be with all chrysler brand suv's built between 2011 and 2013. to make matters worse this particular part is nationally back ordered due to the large volume of consumers experiencing the same problem. due to the shear amount of consumers experiencing this problem an investigation by the nhtsa should be launched and a manufacturer recall should be issued to protect consumers from the costs (around $1200) associated with replacing this obviously faulty part. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the totally integrated programming module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the approximate failure and current mileage was 62,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated the vehicle would not start and the horn would not function. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated the tipm module would have to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 47,000. .updated 11-18-13 *bf

Vehicle doesn't start until several attempts .............. remote key doesn't unlock until several attempts. *tr

Tipm- i went to start my jeep this morning that felt like a weak start up, it then hiccuped and died. thinking it maybe just a one time incident, tried again, with the result of the starter just cranking for about 5-6 seconds. this repeated multiple more times before i called a tow truck to take to a local mechanic. it was diagnosed with bad fuel pumps, and the cost to replace was $1600. this prompted me to call the dealership and ask if that's even possible. after explaining the issue at hand, the service manager told me that he doesn't believe the issue to be caused by faulty pumps, but from the tipm. this is obviously not the first time he has heard of this issue. i then did some research on the web and found this to be a pretty prevalent issue amongst owners of this year, make, and model. when i called him back to see if the backorder issues were true, he told me it would take around three weeks to get the part. i immediately asked for the jeep corporate number, called them, and began to speak to a guy about it there. he told me that the production rate was one per 7 days... and that coupled with there are tons of these cases out there is why it was going to take a while to get the part. he went on to tell me that sounds crazy, but its just how fast, (or slow) they are producing them. i asked if the new product was a replica of the original and he said this is a solution for the previous one and would fix the problem, not just a bandaid. he advised me to have it fixed and hope the recall comes and i would be eligible for a reimbursement. with the price of this fix being so high and the amount of people affected, this has to be recalled. please have anyone having this issue file a complaint here. this customer service rep told me there just hasn't been enough formal complaints about it to validate a recall.... *tr

My 2011 grand cherokee overland has an intermittent starting problem. not always, but a couple of times a day, it will not start the first time, it cranks and cranks but doesn't start, this last for 10 secs approx then shuts off, this might last anywhere from 1 to 4 attempts, then will start right up. sometimes it will start and then fade out, like out of gas. over the weekend the time between starts was more lengthy and at one point it shut off and drifted into an intersection. jeep is "looking into the situation" which according to the internet is widespread. i was told a recall will not occur since its not a safety issue. i was stranded at a rest stop in rural pennsylvania at 11:30 pm over the weekend, i think that's a safety concern. my costs associated with this issue will exceed $2000k and dealerships are only aloud to order one part a week since its on national back order. any time a new vehicle that is well maintained strands you or stalls and drifts into an intersection, its a concern. the issue is random and can be unexpected. please investigate. *tr

Vehicle: 2011 jeep grand cherokee 4x4, purchased new in october 2010. i experienced difficultly in starting vehicle, problem persisted and became worse. dealership indicated bad fuel pump, replaced at a cost of $1,000.00 +. starting problem persisted and again back too dealership. diagnosis this time was bad starter module (tipm unit) cost $1,000.00 + and i was told that the part was on "extreme" back order and they could not even give me an estimate on the arrival date . i was also informed that the bad tipm had created an electrical short that had led to the initial failure of the fuel pump. present: eight (8) weeks have passed and no part available and a vehicle sitting in my driveway gathering the leaves of the change of the season. i have been a loyal jeep owner for the past 25 years with at least seven (7) vehicles. this one is the most problem plagued vehicle of them all, with major electrical/computer problems. i did not list all the problems (electrical and other wise ) that occurred in the first 36,000 miles for thankfully they were cover by warranty. i must say i will hard pressed to purchase another chrysler (jeep) product in the future. this one has to be towed into the dealership to be repaired (new tipm) before i can drive it to another dealership and hope for a good trade in!!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v530000 (electrical system) and stated that the parts were not available. the dealer did not give a specific date for when the parts would become available for months. the manufacturer was also contacted. the contact had not experienced a failure.

My vehicle was hard cranking in the morning. after replacing the battery, being stranded numerous times, and taking to multiple mechanics including the dealer the issue was a malfunction of the totally integrated power module (tipm). this particular piece is on national back order. there is a shortage of over 25,000 in the nation according to the local jeep dealer parts department. jeep is doing nothing about it. i am pretty sure i am not the only person that has made this complaint. *tr

Jeep would not start i thought it was the fuel pump so i took it to a mechanic. the diagnosed it an also thought it was the pump. they changed it out and i still had the same issue. after looking at it again the mechanic told me that he had read up on a problem several jeeps vehicles were having and it was the same problem as my jeep. they changed the ignition module and it works great now. it took about a week and half to get the part in due to the fact that many people are having the same problem. i believe that jeep should recall all the vehicles that have this module because it seems like it is becoming a big issue. *tr

Apparently i am one of many with a 2011 jeep grand cherokee that will not start on occasion. also had issues with key not locking or opening doors and other odd electrical issues happening. for instance last night when i parked the car and turned off the engine, i could hear something continuing to run on the drivers side under the middle of the car, like a fan running ? it ran for about 1 hour, i started and stopped the car a few times, and turned off all air/fan etc.,, it finally stopped ! i took the car to the dealer they indicated the updates were needed for the pcm, tipm and wcm, this was done (flash updated) cost me $135 dealer said tipm was covered but not pcm or wcm. however this did not correct the issue, still having problems, took back to the dealer, left all day, they now say tipm needs to be replaced. only 37k miles on car, two years old ! love this jeep - but worried ! dealer says new tipm will be here in 10 days ? dealer manager has contacted chrysler and they will "goodwill" the tipm - because i am only 1k over warranty, but i cover $100 charge for labor? i am scared the tipm will never come ! meanwhile i am still driving this car, its my only vehicle, and still making payments on it. feel like i need to trade it in before it dies !!! but i own too much ! worried that it will get worse and worried a new tipm will not fix the problem ! help! *tr

Vehicle power shuts down while driving at highway speed, in any and all driving conditions. no power steering, no power brakes, no power, nothing. there is no warning when power goes out. driver can be stranded in middle of freeway, or off-ramp, or busy intersection. extremely dangerous. worse than gm issue. vehicle cannot be restarted without shifting into park. 2011 jeep stall on 70mph freeway requires driver to shift into park before a re-start can be attempted (neutral will not allow rolling start). extreme danger of high-speed rear end collision. well documented issue on web 2011 jeep grand cherokee tipm. recall is needed for this safety critical item. http://gotaclassaction.com/chrysler-investigated-over-defective-totally-integrated-power-module-tipm-in-2011-2012-jeep-grand-cherokees-and-dodge-durangos/ *tr

Totally integrated power module is going out on multiple jeep vehicles. the tipm controls lights, horns, wipers, air bags, etc. when the part quits working, it causes multiple issues with the vehicle. the vehicle will not start, which can leave the owner stranded. the wipers, horn, etc., just turn on, which could cause an accident. and, the air bags may not deploy if in an accident. the tipm is on national back order, which means waiting weeks for repair and chrysler is refusing to pay for a rental car for the owner. and, will the replacement last longer than the original? the vehicle needs to be recalled and replaced. *js

2011 jeep grand cherokee - tipm went out at 59,000 miles. no longer under warranty. this part is integral to the working of the car-air bags, accessories, dash, fuel pump, etc. according to the dealer, this part is on back order and they do not know when it will become available. they currently have several vehicles there that have been waiting longer than 6 weeks. according to an internet search, this is a wide spread problem and chrysler has yet to recall or accommodate owners. this is a safety issue!!!!! *js

Thanks for the chance to post, i too have been experiencing the same issue. i noticed it a few weeks ago when my battery started showing signs of going dead. i also heard the noise after exiting the truck in the evenings. i thought the noise was some electronics resetting itself, but thought it would eventually shutoff. i did not think this could be killing my battery. i too had to buy a battery thanks cost me a pretty penny now to learn it too would be dead soon. after going to the dealership today for an oil change the truck died in their service bay. not even five minutes after leaving, the service rep called me and explained how they had to push my truck to their service bay due to a bad totally integrated power module (tipm). we are now with out a vehicle for an undisclosed time and still have the obligation to pay for a product of no use. chrysler has to find way to address this or it can cost them dearly in reputation and in the pocket if the results don't get better. a recall would be a start but people are without vehicles with monthly payments! not a good look chrysler looks like a class action situation.

Tried to start the jeep in the morning and it would crank but not turn over and start. called the jeep dealership and had it towed in. after they checked it they said a tipm unit went bad and may take days to months to get a new one and would cost $1300. the vehicle is under 3 years old and i found several hundred other persons having the exact same problem in different states. i would request an inquiry into this issue and see if a formal recall is in order. thank you in advance for any help you could provide. *jb

There seems to be thousands of cases on the internet like mine. the car won't start when cold. to get it to start, you have to try and try pushing the starter button. eventually, it will start after 10-25 times. i'm told this is caused by a defective tipm (computer). i'm told that eventually the car won't start at all. i see this as a safety issue, as if you can't get your car started you can get into a lot of trouble if you are in harm's way. there are thousands of issues like this. the replacement part is not even available. chrysler told me it would take 3 weeks to even get the replacement computer. that means that the car is essentially not usable for at a minimum 3 weeks. this car needs to be recalled. *tr

The tipm that controls the air bags and fuel pump along with many other systems is faulty. there is a nationwide demand for new tipm systems for jeeps but no supply. chrysler is saying a new tipm system is back ordered for several months forcing jeep owners to drive unsafe vehicles that could shut off at any moment and not deploy the air bags. this has become a nationwide problem. *tr

Car will crank but will not start. after about 10-20 minutes car will start. remote start is more successful than turning the key. *tr

I was having trouble getting my car started. it would crank but not start. had it towed to the dealer and i was told the tipm (totally integrated power module) needs to be replaced. there is a faulty relay that controls the fuel pump which results in a crank but no start condition. the cost was ridiculous but even worse was that it would take up to two weeks to get the part. in doing some checking, it seems that there are currently over 1300 orders for this part with none available. there is a scheduled release to dealers this week of about 450 with another release in about 2 more weeks. currently there is a demand of 449 per week. there must be something wrong with the way this part was manufactured for it to break down so much. or is chrysler just making a buck by taking advantage of us? either way, i'm going back to foreign cars. american made hasn't been very good to me. *tr

My 2011 overland began hesitating while driving on friday 9/6. was able to return home safely. turned off the engine and then was unable to restart the vehicle. had the vehicle taken to a local dealership and was told that the tipm module had failed which chrysler is aware of the faulty part and has already changed manufacturers. i was told due to a back order the dealerships are limited to ordering only one module per week and therefore no eta could be given for my vehicle's repairs. i called the chrysler corporate offices and was told that they would attempt to expedite the part and i could rent a car and submit my bill for "possible" reimbursement. this is a failure on a number of levels that a company that is now flush with cash again due to a gov't bailout has the parts to crank out new vehicles but will leave paying customers with no information other than to "be patient". i will not attempt to buy american again. back to acura i go! *tr

Car won't stop. tipm fuse exploded. jeep dealer says i won't have a car for2 weeks and jeep won't cover this main stream issue. i found 1200 complaints on the same issue. we want extended warranty or full recall on all jeep grand cherokees. 2011 and 2012. people can die if their car shuts off on the highway. i was warned i can die if i drive this jeep by shaver jeep in thousand oaks ca. tipm needs recall and will end up killing jeep owners

2 weeks ago my car would not start, did get it started, took to dealer ship. its apparently the timp module. this part is on back order i was told it would be in this week its not and they are not sure. it take a few tries to get it started. and twice it stalled while driving. and its making a knocking. may i add this started at 36600. miles. *tr

Starting issues - cranks but won't start. 2011 jeep gc overland 4x4 5.7l hemi, 19,200 miles. bad part: "totally integrated power module" (tipm) part# rl692316ai. part is on "back order" dealer best guess is 3 to 6 wks or more - they do not know. corporate confirmed parts situation. aug 26, 2013 1st day jeep in shop. dealers now has 3 vehicles all waiting for this part. my concern is that there is more demand than parts and will the new part be upgraded to eliminate problem. dealer part cost about $1,000 plus labor if out of warranty. sept 5, 2013 now 11 days in shop with no more information on part. i hope this data will support a recall for tipm part # rl692316a used in 2011 jeep grand cherokee and other vehicles too. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle restarted within a few minutes and resumed normally. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the battery was replaced. the failure continued after the repair was performed. the vehicle was akin to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the technician informed that the failure was contributed to an electrical issue in which the tipa module would need to be replaced and the part was ordered. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000. the vin was unavailable. updated 11/21/14*cn

Vehicle cranks but does not starts. part not available. dealer claims is in national backorder. vehicle was towed to dealer and diagnosed as a defective total integrated power module. other 17 similar vehicles waiting for same part at chrysler jeep dealer repair shop.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that upon inspection, the starter would not engage without warning. the contact also mentioned that when the fuel tank was below half full, the vehicle would not start. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician stated that the starter and the auxiliary starter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 18,000.

Incident on 8/29/13 car stalled to start- took car to dealer on 8/30/13 and they diagnosed it to be the tipm. part was ordered but the dealer does not know when it is coming in and it is on national backorder. this tipm causes the car not to start. it took me about 5 tries to start my car- then finally it started. the car basically starts when it wants to. called corporate 9/4 and spoke with ella complaining on the issue. she then called the dealer and confirmed that part has been ordered but does not know an arrival date. she said they will email monthly on the status of my part. i then said "monthly". she replied yes we don't know when the part will be in. i told her i am getting very agitated and that i cannot afford to pay a car note on top of a rental. i asked her what do they do in a situation when a car cannot be fixed???? do you refund $$ give a new car.... she could not answer (basically saying no). i told her my rental will be up on saturday and i want a new one on their expense because their should be no reason for the dealer not having this part or knowing when it will be in. she advised me to call back on saturday regarding the rental. some cars at my dealer have been waiting for this part for month. she stated that she will escalate me file with special tracking. it seems like chrysler is telling all vehicle owners this. *jb

My jeep grand cherokee overland 4x4 2011 is experiencing starting problems. the yark jeep dealer in toledo ohio diagnosed the problem to be the total integrated power module or tipm on september 4, 2013. i had not driven the car for 5 days due to a fear of being in a strange place and not being able to get the car started. the yark dealership, on advice of chrysler, performed a software update, which seemed to work for about an hour at the dealership. then it [constant starter cranking, which the dealership said was because the tipm was not sending any power to the fuel pump] started again at the dealership. now, i am being told, by the yark dealership, that there is a 2000 part backlog on the tipm and that the part-distributor re-stocking date has moved from 9/9/2013 to 9/23/2013. if the delivery date holds i will be without my vehicle for about three weeks. internet research (http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0f8b2b/1112) reveals many people that the same problem and chrysler will not pay for a rental car unless the tipm is totally non-functional which i feel is unacceptable.
