After receiving recall n23, 4wd low no longer works. *tr

The engine stalled while at cruise speed (not accelerating) and with no warning. there was 1/2 tank of gas; the mil did not illuminate. upon loss of engine power, all power assist systems (e.g.: brakes, steering) ceased to operate. i successfully restarted the vehicle by shifting into neutral and turning the key as far toward "off" as is possible when the vehicle is not in park. on the second attempt, the vehicle restarted with no mil illumination. *tr

Had my low mileage/ perfectly maintained jeep in for service. they performed the n23 recall because of a faulty chip that causes the transfer case to go into neutral and roll away. a week or so after having this performed i went to lock my jeep into 4wd low and my "service 4wd" message appears. is reading the same code everyone else with this problem is having after having the n23 recall performed. 4wd low worked flawlessly when i used it the week before taking it into the dealer. whats funny is the service writer said "there have been a few cases the 4wd low stops working, but those cars had high mileage" when i asked him what the recall was and if anything bad had come from it. *tr

As i was driving my car jerked real hard and all my dash lights came on and my ability to drive my car was useless. my jeep slowed down on the freeway during morning rush hour traffic almost causing several accidents. as i was trying to restart my jeep it just keep making a clicking noise and wouldn't stop. i had to pull the key from the ignition and reinsert the key and try to start the jeep. after 3 tries it started and i went to drive off and as i was accelerating my jeep did it again finally it stayed on and i was able to drive to a safe location. my jeep sounded real strange not like normal. this is the 5 or 6th time this has happened since i had my jeep not even a year to date. *tr

Vehicle run perfectly. took vehicle in for recall n23. from that time i am not able to put transfer case in neutral for towing behind motorhome which i have done 100's of time in 6 years with no problem. numerous calls to chrysler/jeep and trips to different dealers have accomplished nothing. they are in complete denial that they have a problem, but there a hundreds on the internet all complaining about the same thing. something needs to be done to get chrysler /jeep to fix this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the service four wheel drive warning lamp illuminated and the transmission failed to shift gears. the vehicle was repaired under recall nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train) but the remedy failed to correct the problem. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 92,000. updated 3/12/14*cn

Summary: the vehicle experienced significantly reduced power while driving in freeway traffic. it was necessary to move to the far right lane and exit the traffic flow. this has happened on several occasions. it is unsafe when the condition occurs in heavy traffic. *tr

2007 jeep grand cherokee. consumer writes in regards to service 4 wheel" error code message appears when vehicle is put into neutral. *smd the consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer, for repairs under recall 13v175000. after the recall was performed, he stated the following happened with the vehicle: when he attempted to put the vehicle in neutral, a message appeared that read service 4-wheel. he took the vehicle to a repair shop and was told the error code said the transfer case encoded motor was at fault. he had the repair done and had the transmission and transfer case serviced. the encoder motor had to be purchased from the chrysler dealer. two months later, he attempted to put the vehicle in neutral and the same message appeared. he took the vehicle back to the dealer and they performed the same recall repairs. on april 24, 2014, the message appeared again. on april 30, 2014 the vehicle would not start, so it had to be towed to the dealer. they replaced the starter solenoid and both front window motors. also, the service 4 wheel had appeared again. on may 2, 21 ,and 27 2014, the same service message appeared, as well as june 1, 2014. *jb

After application of safety recall n23/ nhtsa 13v-175. reprogram final drive controller module. 2005 - 2010. (wk) jeep grand cherokee. 2006 - 2010. (xk) jeep commander, the transfer case of our car could not be shifted out of 4-high to either neutral or 4-low. consequently a major drive train component has been destroyed. this demonstrates the software is defective and potentially dangerous and may not correct the reason for the recall. thousands of jeep vehicles subjected to this recall have suffered the same loss of function. how does nhtsa, or we, know the safety problem is actually fixed? it is obvious the software used in this recall was not subjected to sufficient testing to validate it. i therefore fear my car is just as liable to have a safety defect now as it did before the recall. i will continue to return to the dealer for service until the issue is fixed costing them time and money as i will not be paying for any further service regarding this issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system, power train); however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure.

The problem was the same one that a lot of people have had with it losing acceleration or not wanting to accelerate. my mechanic checked for a code and found out the problem was in the shifting assembly. he had to take out the center console and replace the shifter assembly. he said that a module was faulty in the shifter assembly and was putting the car into limp mode. this seems to have taken care of the problem. i thought i would share this information so others would know about it. *tr

Was driving and vehicle would no longer switch gears from first to second. i was on freeway in construction area that was down to one lane and could not pull over for approximately ten miles. not happy at all since the vehicle (2007 jeep grand cherokee) has relatively low miles for a power train problem. my car is currently in the shop, but research shows this is a common problem with my model and a dangerous and expensive one at that. how is this not a recall? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that upon acceleration, the gear independently shifted into neutral. the vehicle at first did not respond but rapidly accelerated within several seconds. the failure was recurring. the vehicle was previously taken to the dealer to have the transfer case updated however, the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system, power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 100,100. ..updated 12-05-13 *bf

My complaint is with the dealer. i received a recall notice regarding the transfer case actuator. when making the appointment with the dealer they agreed to look at it. once i drove out to the dealership they refused to even look at the case since there is no fix yet available. i'm not happy that they even would look. so i feel that the dealer failed to remedy this defect in a reasonable time. i understand their is no fix yet, but to not even look brothers me. i'm a mother of three with one more on the way and i wish my dealer would of even listen and looked. *tr

I was driving 40 mph and pressed the accelerator to speed up to 45 when my jeep lost power. i pressed the accelerator fully and the transmission did not downshift and the engine just kept losing power. this has also happened from start twice. it has happened at around 60 mph while getting on the highway. the only thing that helps is if i turn off the engine and turn it back on. then the car drives normally. i bought the car 10 days ago with 82500 miles on it. it's already acting up. *tr

Vehicle loses power when merging with fast moving traffic; needs to be shut down and restarted to regain power; later, check engine light came on sometimes; finally, won't go over 30 mph and check engine light is continuously on. i have extended warranty from portfolio. i brought it to the dealer's (auto world - patchogue ny) shop (generation kia - medford ny) 03 jun 2013, was told that i needed to bring it to a jeep dealer. i was told verbally that the fault was the transmission input speed sensor. on 05 jun 2013 i went to brown's jeep in patchogue ny and they won't commit to anything or give me a loaner car until the service is approved by portfolio. from the first month of ownership i had complained about rough shifting under certain conditions, but was told at brown's jeep that the transmission was ok. i have noticed some service bulletins for 'drivability' concerning the transmissions had been issued in some states. a lot of other owners have had the same problem, maybe a recall is overdue! thank you! *tr

As i was driving my jeep shut off and i was unable to steer and started to slow down in the middle of the freeway going 65 mph. i was unable to get out of the road and on to the shoulder causing several cars to almost hitting me. when the jeep stopped i put the suv in park and tried starting all it did was make noise. i then stepped on the brake and put in neutral and tried starting it and it wouldn't start. i waited a few minutes put the jeep back in park and tried again and it started but i'm scared to drive in now. this happened to me 4 times now but the other times it is when i am either coming off the freeway or on a city street not going that fast and in that much traffic. *tr

Shifts from park to neutral by itself, wont down shift at certain times, shift from drive to neutral at high speeds then shut off the truck. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle would lose acceleration power sporadically. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the transmission swirl unit. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 74,000 and the current mileage was 76,000. ..updated 10/30/13 *bf updated 10/31/2013 *js

Started truck shifted from park to drive. started to drive, truck lurched forward and was unable to get it to speed over 20 mph. tried pulling over and putting in park, still was unable to get truck to drive normally. had same issue previously, had truck repaired was told that it was the electronic shift module - along with the battery, transmission control module and alternator - this seems to be a problem with this particular model - when will they recall this - do we need to wait for someone to get killed before some realizes there is a problem? *tr

The drivers window regulator is not working. second problem is when i start my jeep up and put it drive it sometimes makes a clunk noise , like it' going in hard and all the boxes light up around the p.n.r.d. and it has no power. i have to turn it off and restart it and it clears it up. *tr

First my rear window light would come on during cold weather and would stay on this happened at 35,000 miles. then my directional stopped working had fixed it had something to do with inside the steering column. this happened at 82,000 miles. then a few weeks later drove myself to the drs when i came out my jeep wouldn't start. all the interior lights, radio, directional, windows worked but when i turn it on i hear a click then nothing else. car wont turn over at all. i waited about an hour of trying before it decided to work and turn over. i then proceeded to drive 5 min stopped at a gas station for gas, when i shut it off and tried turning back on same thing happened. i waited about 45 min before it would start back up. then no problems for 5 days. now again its doing the same thing except i left it over night and it still wont start. i called chrysler after looking online and seeing a lot of people with complaints that were the same as mine except these people spent thousands trying to fix and replace everything yet still no luck they continue having this problem. so this is a very well known problem with jeep and even after bringing to jeep dealer and having a diagnostics done with no problems showing up. they don't know what's wrong suggested replacing wires, starter, something in the steering column, and some module. i don't want to dump tons of money in it like everyone else just to have the same problem. chrysler apologized and said there is no recall for my vehicle. i stated it is a known problem and there should be. she then went on to say i should have it towed back to jeep for another diagnostic. it works when it wants to work and has left me and my 4 yr old stranded. it seems like anytime there's a problem with my jeep and everyone else's its always during cold winter months. frustrated and stranded. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving approximately 75 mph, the transmission slipped into neutral. on a separate occasion, the vehicle was placed in reverse but proceeded to roll away. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 13v175000 (electrical system , power train). the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 52,000. the vin was not available.

This first occurred @ approx. 48k miles. driving down the road, i accelerate, truck behaved as if it was thrown into neutral. i was able to coast it down the road approx. 1/4 mile and pull off into a parking lot (living in the country, there is no place to safely pull off the road) shut the jeep off, restart and all is good. now at 55k miles, the rear pinion seal was leaking like a waterfall, replaced, all of a sudden the truck starts with this feeling as if it were thrown into neutral, both times it kicked back into drive on its own. now today driving home, it clunked, bucked, all p,r,n,d lights light up at once, then they go out, then they light up, this repeats , i made it home, could not accelerate above 40-45. when is jeep going to recall these, after someone is killed. did i mention i have a 4 year old in the truck every day! i cant drive it at this point, i am petrified, i will not put the child in it. i have to borrow a vehicle until we are able to pull it apart and get the part from the dealer i bought the jeep from 40 miles away! would never ever recommend a jeep to anyone, ever! i have a friend owns the same jeep, same year, even the same color, he has almost 200k on his and just replaced it, he could not accelerate over 25 mph. the shame of it is, i love it and i am going to take a huge financial bath on it, even when its repaired, i cant trust it, its not child safe! also seems very convenient jeep does not transfer warranties! otherwise this would of been covered, the powetrain warranty on these was extended to lifetime, original owner only! *tr

Driving down the road the car will not go over 45 mph. the only way to quick fix the problem is to turn the car off then back on then it will run normal. also the car has stalled out when i was turning down the road and would not go until i put the car in park then put it back in drive. *tr

Driving down road and engine stalled. loss of power steering and power brakes. put car in park and the car still moved wouldn't restart had to switch ignition off and take key out of ignition before engine would start. stalls at random without any engine malfunction lamps. hazard to be driving on road. problem still unknown and vehicle is out of extended warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to be restarted however, the failure recurred intermittently over a period of one year. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Took my 2007 jeep grand cherokee to my local dealer for the n23 recall regarding the transfer case in december 2013. a week or two later, noticed a dash board error "service four wheel drive system" and my "four wheel drive low" will not work. dealer says i need a new transfer case actuator for hundreds of dollars, but the part is on permanent back-order. the reason this part is on back-order is because the software update as part of the recall causes the system failure! as i've researched several different jeep forums (here, for example: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/recall-2005-2010-grand-cherokees-2006-2010-commanders-1521883/index17.html), this is happening with most, if not all, quadra-drive ii four wheel drive systems after completing the n23 recall. for those with the skills to undo the recall "flash", the problem goes away and their "four wheel drive low" works. help! *tr

Driving down road and engine stalled. loss of power steering and power brakes. caused car behind me to slam on brakes to avoid getting hit. put in neutral and tried to start. had to switch ignition off before engine would start. stalls at random without any engine malfunction lamps. hazard to be driving on road. problem still unknown and vehicle is out of extended warranty by five thousand miles. *tr

While driving the transmission will slip into neutral and revs high, all gears high-light on the dash board, and this happens at multiple speeds many different times? there have been several times this has almost caused my husband and i to have an accident. i was told by the dealership that a recall has been issued and to wait until notified??? this is not something to take lightly and having almost been in accident(s) i feel this needs immediate attention. *tr

I was driving down the road, only going around 15 mph, when my p r n d all lit up and i was unable to drive. i stopped and put it in park and tried again and it ran fine. this happened on two other occasions. i was getting ready to leave and put my vehicle in drive and it jerked forward. i'm very disappointed that i have to replace the electronic monitoring system at such a low mileage, the cost for this is close to $400 and that is not pricing labor and not to mention dangerous for this to happen while you are driving. *tr

Purchased 2007 jeep grand cherokee overland 5.7 hemi july 31, 2007. december 1, 2010 my wife was traveling on an interstate at 65 mph when the engine suddenly shut down. she managed to pull the car off the road, started the engine and drove home without any more issues. dealership technician discovered p0884 code from the pcm. he could not find any problems. car continued to stall numerous times at high speed and sometimes while stopped at a stop sign or red light. this problem started shortly after the engine spark plugs were changed. after numerous parts were changed at the dealership, with no results, the technician contacted an engineer from the chrysler company. during an on site visit the engineer suspected there was an issue with the upper engine harness receiving an electrical induction from the engine coils causing the pcm to shut the engine down. the technician installed foil around the harness and wire tied the harness up off the cradles they lay in. engine performed normal with no shut downs for several months. decision was made to change the upper engine harness. since the harness was changed my jeep has stalled out four more times. the most recent stall occurred the last week of december 2012. this is an extremely dangerous situation to be traveling at interstate speed limits and your car stalls. chrysler places drivers in a situation with a vehicle that is uncontrollable while traveling on an interstate with cars behind you. i started an on line thread in jeep forum.com concerning this issue. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/2007-jeep-grand-cherokee-overland-stalling-problem-1147825/. there are numerous other folks having this problem in the usa, canada, and hawaii. i think that an investigation should be performed to discover what is causing this issue and come up with a positive repair for customers that are having this problem. *tr

Esm- electronic shift module issue: p, r, n, d, l all light up simultaneously and the car gets confused as to which gear it should be using.the check engine light has come on. it shifts roughly. often the car loses power driving down the street, highway and interstate, how is this not a recall??? this is the 4th time this has happen, and this time the check engine light is on. does someone have to get killed before this is recalled??? ps-your vehicle drop box does not work. *tr ## vin failed ##

The lights in my dash were flashing off and on while driving the vehicle, and the sunroof kept opening and would not close. also, when a door was opened on the vehicle, while the engine was off and no key was in, the headlights would flash, took to the dealer, they replaced the instrument cluster, problem still persist. while at the dealer they also attempted to repair the n23 recall, at that point i was advised that there were 8 software updates, which the dealer did without charge. after attempted repair of n23 recall, i was advised the 4 wheel drive in my vehicle was not functioning due the recall repair, it has been 2 months and to date chrysler has been unable to produce a part, the 4 wheel drive actuator, i contacted chrysler corporation numerous times to no avail, was advised the part is on restriction. it is dangerous!!! especially to think your vehicle is functioning properly and its not. chrysler has done nothing to help remedy the situation. *tr

The vehicle will stall out when you are trying to accelerate, even with the gas pedal to the floor the rpms will shoot up but the vehicle will not move forward. if you stop and put the car in neutral it will sometimes fix itself but not always and this is not a good option to resort to in the middle of an intersection. this vehicle will also downshift on its own while you are driving at a high speed slowing your car without warning. very dangerous if driving on the interstate with other vehicles around. was told replacing the electronic shift module (at $1100) may possibly fix the problem but the dealership was not sure that this would remedy the issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while driving approximately 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged but failed to respond. the contact merged to the shoulder, powered off and restarted the vehicle. the vehicle intermittently continued to experience failures with the accelerator as the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and the current mileage was 10,500. updated 12/11/12 *cn the consumer stated he was in the process of making arrangements to have the vehicle repaired. updated 12/17/12

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated the while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and would not accelerate over 30 mph. the failure was experienced numerous times without warning. two independent mechanics performed diagnostics on the vehicle, but were unable to generate a failure code. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 76,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo. the contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle became hesitant and would not accelerate over 25 mph. the contact had to merge off the highway and restart the vehicle before resuming normal operation. the failure recurred on an intermittent basis. the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or an independent mechanic. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileages were approximately 65,000. the vin was unavailable.

i purchased 07 jeep 10/20/2012 shortly after it stalled in car wash about a week later it stalled again. the problem soon began to stall on interstate and recovers at higher speeds. as time passes the problem is happening at least 8 times a week mostly while idling or coasting. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that she attempted to shift to the park position but was unable to do so. the contact mentioned that the vehicle had to be shifted into the neutral position and apply the emergency brake in order to park it. the manufacturer was notified and stated they had received several complaints but a recall had not been issued at that time. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileage was 62,000.

2007 jeep grand cherokee will suddenly shift into neutral while driving. it has happened at various speeds. when this happens all the shift indicators are highlighted. i have to then pull over, put it in park and then try again. i have had it to the dealership shop 5 times to get this fixed. (over the course of this past year). i have now been told that there is a recall with letters going out last month. when can we expect these? i was told june,, but now it is the middle of july. this is very dangerous and we can no longer drive on the highway and have not been able to for almost a year now. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. the contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. in addition, the contact stated that there was a chime and an unknown warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer had a specialist diagnosed the vehicle. the specialist diagnosed that the control module, the pcp to the power train, and the power train control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v438000 (electrical system) and 13v175000 (electrical system, power train) however, the parts needed to do the repairs were unavailable. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 138,000.

Jeep would not start "transmission temp" would come up on dash. took to dealer replaced starter. week later same problem. went back to jeep dealer they deemed it to be engine harness.one year later on any given day "transmission temp" will come up on dash with the jeep sputtering to start. turn off then start. so far three time since repairs it has done this. *tr

Jeep looses power, will not accelerate over 30 mph. this has not happen on a highway yet (luckily) only in-town driving. no error codes present in dtc report or from a diagnostic that cost $90.00 something needs to be done about this before an accident results in a fatality. there seems to me many instances like this on these boards. this is the first investment of a 'real' vehicle that i've had. to pay money for something dependable is the goal. currently this vehicle is not dependable, let alone safe. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 jeep grand cherokee. while making a left turn, the vehicle suddenly began to hesitate, shook, and failed to accelerate properly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission shift mechanism was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred approximately 1 1/2 years later. the contacted indicated that the transmission shift mechanism was replaced a second time and eventually failed again. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 13,000. updated 10/18/16*lj *tr

My wife was driving and just about to get onto the interstate and with no warning, she couldn't accelerate past 25-30mph. luckily she was able to pull to the side of the road quickly without an issue and turned the car off, waited a minute and started the jeep up again and was then able to accelerate. when talking to the dealer, they have never heard of this problem before. when jeep was checked at a local dealer, they pulled error codes that pointed to the transmission speed sensor. only about $700 to replace that with labor!! the sensors are all part of the circuit board and thus need to dismantle the transmission to replace the sensors. then i get on this site and see all the complaints with the same issue. this weekend i'm going car searching to get rid of this thing. *tr

My jeep will periodically not accelerate past 25-40 mph. the rpms only move slightly during an occurrence even if you have it floored and there is no warning lights. the only why to temporarily fix it is to pull over, put it in park and turn it off and on again. i had a very close call and almost got rear-ended getting on the interstate last week when it happened. in the last year its probably happened about fifty times. after looking on this site it is apparent that i'm not the only one with this problem! jeep needs to make a recall on this very soon. *tr

While driving on a 5 lane interstate at 4:30 pm, i accelerated to move over into the far left lane and lost all acceleration while doing this. also, the check engine light came on while this happened. had to coast across five lanes of interstate into the emergency lane. stopped the car and put it in park. waited a minute and put it back in drive and the accelerator magically worked again. the check engine light remained on, drove to an auto parts store to have the code checked. the technician said it was code p0730, gear ratio incorrect. *jb
