I have been having trouble starting my 2007 jeep grand cherokee for months. first i changed the battery that was over $170 dollars , then a few weeks ago the starter that was $340 dollars meanwhile the problem was the ignition switch .i brought my car back to my mechanic and now he tells me it is the ignition switch that same day i receive in the mail a recall notice from chrysler for the ignition switch. chrysler also states that they do not have any parts to fix the problem and that the car is totally unsafe to drivein their recall notice. i need a car to go to my appointments for work i cannot depend on this car and it is unsafe to drive. therefore i have to rent a car and chrysler should pay for the rental car that i need to drive during the period that they do not have parts for my car. i already called my local dealer and they said speak to chrysler. i called their toll free number 1 800 992 1997 and received an incident number of #[xxx]. the person i spoke to was [xxx] she said she was escalating my call to parts and they will be contacting me in a few days. it is now sunday september 21st and i am renting a car as of today because chrysler does not have parts to fix the car they manufactured. chrysler must be held responsible for all costs and injuries related to this problem. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving on route 50 going 65mph. this vehicle is a quad 4x4 automatic / stick shift manual, which was in my favor. when i realized the vehicle was shutting down i had to think quickly what my next steps would be. i started to get over to the right side of the road and brake, because the vehicle was shutting down the power brakes where going out and i could not brake completely. the vehicle was still moving and i was about 200 yards away from my exit and the side of the road was winding around toward the off ramp and getting smaller for me to drive on. i realized that i was not able stop the vehicle by using the floor brake then the fear factor set in. in my mind the only thing i can do is pull the stick shift handbrake and quickly put the vehicle in park then i was able to get control and safely stop the vehicle. this ordeal happened at 4:20pm yesterday and by the time we towed the vehicle back to the dealership and tried to explain to the general sales manager, si faige, on site at darcars in new carrollton, md what all transpired on the road in the unsafe vehicle that they sold us, he didn't want to hear any of it. *tr

Numerous times i've been driving and my car has lost power and i've had to restart the engine. sometimes it takes a while for my car to start on the first turn of the key. the start gets dragged on. sometimes all my check engine lights come on with every other lights as well. several times i have to wait then start the car and it will turn on. besides the car completely turning off while i'm driving, now my car won't turn on at all. the battery is fine. radio and everything turns on. but the ignition won't click over and start my car. so, now i am with no car for work. i called chrysler headquarters for my calls recall back in september and was told they are out of the part they need. my car worked then, just very sketchy, so i was ok waiting, just extremely cautious. now it won't even turn on, i called jeep, they said they are still waitin for the part and all i can do is wait on the list. they won't even give me a loaner since it's a recall issue and not a "service" issue. i have no car, and not the money for a new one, so now i'm at a loss. *tr

I received a recall notice from jeep chrysler in july of 2014 stating a defect within the ignition switch but jeep didn't have the part available to fix the problem. it has now been 8 months and jeep still does not have the part to repair the defect. this could cause an accident and i keep contacting jeep and they keep saying....we don't have the part, we'll let you know when we do. that is unacceptable as the issue could cause an accident and it has been 8 months and they still don't know when the part will be available. i believe chrysler is acting criminally and i would like them to either fix my vehicle so it is safe to drive or reimburse me for the car so i can purchase a vehicle that is safe. *tr
